Three friends and a dog getting together for a pre-Christmas lunch - and what a lovely experience it was! We chose the Christmas menu and started with a glass of Mulled Wine, which was probably the best we’ve ever had. Absolutely delicious. Turkey and all the trimmings for two of us and a festive nut roast with all the trimmings for our vegetarian friend arrived and not only were they generous portions but fantastically tasty. We didn’t need dessert but it would have been rude not to follow up with Christmas Pudding with hot brandy sauce and vegan Chocolate Parfait with berry compote. Both were very good indeed. Service was friendly, food delicious and well priced, and the atmosphere was lovely. We’ll be back again in the new year!

…..in the dense almost tropical foliage at the entrance to these famed gardens, the restaurant café is a real find when so many local pubs are closed or only open a few days a week. The short menu has classic favorites like ham, eggs and chips, well presented and beautifully cooked. Simple dishes are often the hardest to get right, but here they are spot-on. The large, open and modern room looks out onto the jungle and where dogs and old people are welcome with the service attentive and professional. A lovely lunch – thank you.

When visiting the Trebah Gardens the light and airy Trebah Kitchen is just the place to drop into for either a drink and/or some food. The staff are friendly and helpful. There's a good choice of drinks and snacks on the menu. The tables are cleared and cleaned as soon as the customers leave and there's plenty of tables available, both inside and outside.

The restaurant at Trebar is excellent, with a varied menu. They do very good coffee too and they have a good selection of cakes. The prices are reasonable for an attraction who has a captive market. I can thoroughly recommend the chickpea and sweet potato curry. There is plenty of seating inside and out, including dog friendly tables.

Popped in for a quick lunch between rain showers before wandering round the garden. I felt the menu limited and the chicken caesar I ordered was disappointing. A tiny sliced chicken breast, maybe a dozen thin slithers of rock hard bacon and minimal shavings of parmesan, expensive at some £14, no plans to return.

I was looking forward to returning after they closed the kitchen to the public during covid and kept it only for garden visitors. I was quite underwhelmed when visiting again, it was very cold in there, a few of the tables were left dirty despite there being a good number of staff that were available. Most of all, the prices now seem very excessive for the venue. £4.50 for a chocolate cupcake, £4.50 for a slice of Victoria sponge cake. It just didn’t seem the right price for the location and the restaurant. A hot chocolate, two teas, 2 cakes and an apple juice came to £24. The cake counter was sparse just before lunch time and many of the glass cabinets almost empty. Unfortunately we won’t be rushing to return.

I’m sad to say that things have changed here….and we have been visiting for more than twenty years since the days of the old cafe. You could always get a good lunch here, followed by an excellent scone or cake. We have noticed standards slipping in recent years and we had a really disappointing (yet costly - in excess of £65) lunch for 3 here this week. Mine was tasty enough - a mozzarella and tomato salad which cost, I think, £14. My husband’s flat bread (similar price) contained a falafel and a smear of hummus. Not great and compares very badly with the excellent ploughman’s lunch served at Trewithen for half the price. None of the pasties were suitable for vegetarians because the pastry was made with lard. It was also rather annoying to be told by a member of staff that I was wrong in recalling vegetarian pasties in the past because pasties had only just been introduced at Trebah….Petty, I know, but I do like my lunch served without condescension! We LOVE Trebah but we are rapidly going off the cafe. Please bring back your old ethos of good and wholesome food at normal prices.

Really fabulous kitchen that offers alternatives to the boring old roasties and burgers. We had broth noodles which was extremely good. I dislike bread burgers chips etc so this was a welcome change. They had some lovely flans and soups also. Our meal was like something out of a top class restaurant. The outdoor eating area was so pretty too. Well done on offering some real tasty food at an exceptionally reasonable price.

Very pleasant open restaurant with splendid terrace for fine weather. Our visit was marred by our own ignorance: if you make for the serving counter you will see boards on the wall offering sandwiches, drinks and so on, so we ordered those. Then, on leaving the serving area there is a board with all the cooked offerings marked on it. Too late. So be beware. The sandwiches were fine, locally prepared and rather expensive. Coffee entirely acceptable.

Ahead of our week in Cornwall we booked in advance a table for Sunday Lunch at Trebah Kitchen and were not disappointed. The roast chicken was delicious, as were the local seasonal vegetables. We also indulged in the pudding - pear and ginger sponge - which was very welcome on a wet and windy Sunday! There is just the one choice for the Sunday lunch main course (plus a vegetarian option) but that makes it all the more special as it is cooked and presented with care. Although busy, we didn't have to wait long, and the service was efficient and friendly. We will certainly revisit next time we are in the area.

We visited in June having Breakfast first thing, then coffee and cake mid-afternoon after walking through the garden and spending time on the beach. Food is back to being served on plates which is excellent to see, albeit understanding that the disposable boxes+cutlery were a necessity during the pandemic. The food is as tasty as always, prices are good value and service is good, not fast but prompt considering items are cooked to order. During our visit the staff were only too happy to go the extra mile - someone in the Boat house on the beach willingly helped carry my ice creams back to our group, and someone in the cafe was equally helpful to someone on an adjacent table who had two trays of hot drinks and snacks to carry. Little touches like this really do make Trebah a lovey day out every time.

An attractive building to sit inside and even nicer outside on a nice day. Lunch was mostly good - very nice soup and a good egg mayo ciabatta. Quite good strawberry and fresh cream sponge. It wasn't perfect - the filling in the ciabatta was rather mean (the bread was very good), the bread served with the soup had been allowed to dry out, the crisps were no longer as "crisp" as they should be and the flat white was only warm. The basics are good, but there are a few details to work on. Overall, it felt a little expensive - although if the profits go to upkeep of the garden I don't mind.

On return from walk to beach and soaking wet, all three of us, we tried to buy food from a young woman who was having a long conversation with a male colleague which went on and on. Eventually she provided our tea but then stared blankly for some time, ooh! then it hit her there was no cake on our tray!!! We then walked over to a table by the window and were just about to sit down when another member of staff came hurtling over in a flap and said that we could not sit there but she would show us where the dog seating was!!!!! At that point we left without having any tea or cake. What a shame that our visit to this beautiful place was ruined by the lack of training/interest by some of the staff and lack of signage.

We visited Trebah Kitchen on the early May bank holiday. We arrived for lunch around 2, only to find that all the specials were sold out, which was disappointing. I had the soup, which was very good. My husband had the fish finger sandwich, which he also liked. The three kids all ordered pizza (think they were £6 each), but the dough for the base has maybe rosemary(?) in it, which no one liked and all wanted to pick out, and whole slices of tomatoes. They are not afraid to try new things, but this particular taste didn't suit any of them. Just seemed a little over-fancy for bog standard kids' food. Rather than get in line again, we ended up not eating much of our own lunch and sharing it with the kids. I'd pack a picnic the next time we come.

Offers snacks, meals and refreshing drinks. Had 2 teas and slice of banana cake. This only cost £6 and was delicious. Saw portions of fish and chips which looked tasty. After walking round garden had a large pot of tea for two only £3. If I was staying in the area I would definitely use again

Most gardens have catering facilities. This one is exceptional. Large, bright, airy. Great selection of food, lunches, cakes, soup. The garden alone is worth a visit. This facility turns the visit into an occasion.

Nice people, well cooked chips, but be aware that the fat they use is animal. My fault did not ask. Seems to be getting more popular again after many years chips were vegetarian. I will have to start asking.

So nice I had to get the oysters twice. Fresh seafood market right on the water. The crabcake sandwich was surprisingly large and super flavorful. It was a bit pricey honestly but not surprising with the location. There are tall tables in the middle for you to stand/eat.

The best fish and chips around!! We rented a cottage for the New Year adjacent to The Balancing Eel and the smells were drawing us in a on a daily basis. We had a takeaway one evening and we were not disappointed, it was absolutely delicious. My partner's Dad was a fisherman & he had a fish shop so she knows her fish. We will definitely back in August and December this year.

We thoroughly enjoyed a delicious roast lunch on Sunday. It was beautifully cooked and presented and, as always, we received a very warm welcome. Highly recommended.

The ice creams here are beautiful! Really generous portions and are very well presented. The customer service we received was outstanding, my daughter had a massive meltdown (ASD) and they were nothing but supportive, understanding and helpful. We'd had a very tough day today with meltdowns galore and this one was by far the worst of the day yet I never felt alone or judged. People like you make the biggest difference and I am so very grateful for you going out of your way to help and care. Thank you x
