Service was very slow. Booked a 5.30 as we did not know the pub. Plenty of space so in hindsight did not need too! Ordered at bar. Asked for starters first. They did not get served untill 7. Chef was good. Good portions of meat. Its more a pub to locals than a carvery. They had decent knowledge of dietary requirements. Good food but slow for a service. Clean place.

so it was a nice overall meal, although was waiting at the meat station for a while for the carver to come i know i ordered a small carvery ( im not a big eater) but the amount of meat i was given wasnt great and apparently you cannot get two types of meat with a small carvery which is diffrerent to when i went last time (october) the beef i had was fairly nice just wasnt given a huge amount of it vegetable variety was decent peas carrots green beans or mangetout (not sure) also other sides IE mash, roast pots, cheesy mash, cauli cheese, cranberry sauce and mustard not impressed with starndards of the gents toilets - they stank - werent well kept we were sat in a booth next to the bar when some staff were leaning over the bar over our both watching us and other eaters making it fairly uncomfortable. other than that - decent meal meal rating - 8/10 cleanliness of toilets - 5.5/10 service - 7.5/10

Started coming back here a few months ago, full menu is affordable and tasty, carvery is spot on, with added extra of the best cheesy mash in a long time.even offer deliveries with generous portions. The staff are friendly and helpful. Will continue to recommend to people

Bank holiday Monday spent the right way! We arrived this evening for a family carvery treat, and wow that's exactly what we got! The veg was all piping hot and fresh, and the beef was absolutely gorgeous. The staff were all so friendly and helpful, no complaints whatsoever here. We are already looking forward to returning really soon. I have heard the deliveries are really good too so hoping to try that too. Also noticed on the menu that pizzas are half price every Tuesday so I guess it would be rude not to try one of those too! The new managers are doing great things here, watch this space Crofton!!

Since the take over of Emily, Lee and Chris from Hull - The change in here has been evident. The staff are all extremely friendly, and helpful. We absolutely love coming here and never leave disappointed. If I was to describe the C and C I would say it was a home from home! I would really recommend the pizzas, the carvery is always so well presented and you can tell the staff really care about the work they do here. I am also a great admirer of the charity work that they do for Martin House Children’s Hospice ! Great way to support the charity. Looking forward to seeing what these ‘codheads’ can do in the future! Haha just kidding. Thank you all

The staff here are the most friendliest hospitality staff we have ever met, it's always so nice to walk into an establishment and feel like you are genuinely welcomed. The meals were all lovely and hot, the rocky road sundea was delicious! We opted to try the iced coffees and were not disappointed at all. Really nice. We have already booked to return next weekend! Staff are really friendly and helpful, the food is very nice.

The staff were great with everything you would expect like service at the bar and bring out food. The waitress went beyond this interacting with our 2 kids, asking them. About their meals and general chit chat. The food was OK. Carvery veg could have been better and while the burger it's self was decent the chips were poor and the plate wasn't full.

The server named Sophie was so lovely. Had 3 small children with us and she was very accommodating, friendly and patient! Went the extra mile to accommodate us all! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

So disappointed with our visit last night. I appreciate it was 8 o’clock in the evening - a popular eating time in most restaurants, but the carvery vegetables on offer here were clearly on their last legs and discoloured and shouldn’t have been available. There were no Yorkshire puddings left and no explanation provided as to why more couldn’t be provided. I asked for no onions in my calzone, which was completely ignored by the kitchen. The calzone itself was a completely different standard to only a few months back (Nov 23) when it was larger and better presented - see pic. The lady in charge was moaning that she was “doing the job of 4 people” I sent my food back and asked for a substitute (a pizza calzone), which never arrived with no explanation as to why. The lady serving kept repeating the same monotone line “all I can do is apologise” which felt insincere and also proven by the fact my agreed replacement meal never arrived. To top it all the male toilet floor was covered with urine due to the urinals leaking. Won’t be in a rush to return. Staff didn’t seem to want to be there themselves and neither did we in the end. Didn’t end up having any food myself (not for lack of ordering) and went to the takeaway opposite which was decent. Plus there were 2 large tables being occupied by people playing poker for money, which seemed a bit out of kilter for a family pub.

We were served by Angel when 4 of us booked a table for a birthday meal.we needed a quiet area due to personal reasons and were given "the snug",which was perfect.Bar staff were very friendly and attentive and food off menu and carvery were delicious.special food requirements were taken on board and cannot thank ANGEL enough for a wonderful evening,leaving feeling totally welcomed and with full and satisfied bellies x

All of the staff are so helpful and friendly, we always enjoy the carvery here it’s great value for money at less than eight pound per person we really couldn’t cook cheaper at home! This includes fantastic service in a clean, happy environment :) another thing to mention is the toilets are so so clean and tidy which isn’t usually the norm in a lot of pubs and restaurants. You can tell the staff take pride in their appearance too as they always look smart and are welcoming. I’m looking forward to trying one of the pizzas they always look so nice coming out! Lovely place to eat or drink and family friendly too.

We had a carvery on a Saturday and most of the food was cold only made earable when the gravy warmed it up. Turkey was dry but the Beef was good

Had a mid afternoon carvery meal and there was plenty of food, hot and tasty, very reasonably priced and thoroughly recommendable.

Had to go up to bar after 15 minutes as no one was sorting out drinks when it is extremely quiet. Coors don’t taste the best so just beware. Overall carvery was nice though.

Came in for a carvery Mash was extremely lumpy, the gravy was like water and the meat was soggy and mushy, veg was bland, carrots were hardened, overall just a tacky place to eat wouldn’t recommend!

Nice cheeky carvery. Plates not hot but they were having issues with the hot plate so the food could have been hotter. Friendly staff

The new managers are brilliant really turned the pub around. The food is loads better, great selection of drinks. Sky sports in bar area and you can bring ya dog in this area now. Lee and Emily are a credit to the place and there staff are brilliant neive angel Anne all friendly. It's my favourite place to go and I'm always made to feel like family here. 💕 x

Lovely meal but wasn’t very warm

SUNDAY LUNCH FAMILY OF SIX WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS BUT THE FOOD WAS POOR LUKE WARM AT THE CARVERY AND THINGS MISSING DUE TO A HOLD UP IN THE KITCHEN WHICH TOOK 20 MINUTES TO SORT OUT WILL GIVE IT A MISS NEXT TIME WE GO OUT WITH THE FAMILY

Everything, disgusting food, some food did not arrived even after been chased up 3 times, incompetent staff. We were a table of 13 and after complaining to the manager all we were offered was a drink on the house. We had to request a refund which he gave begrudgingly only half of it.

Arrived at 12 .40 today, bar man was very polite. Found a table and decided on the carvery. Went to get our food, and the plate that my meat and pudding was on was stone cold. Not a good start.I had the gamon, roast and mash potatoes , green beans cauliflower cheese peas, Yorkshire pudding and gravy. The food was luke warm, the roast potatoes were the hottest as the lady had just brought them out. The gravy was barely warm at all. The food was really tasty but was totally spoiled by not being hot. Cold plates is always a big no no. I would have thought that 1pm the food should have been a lot hotter, what is the best time to eat , to get hot food?

When we walked in, our first impression was that the restaurant was very clean, warm and welcoming. Unfortunately that’s where the pleasant experience ended. Our table of 13 all ordered on line or at the bar about 2:15 and I had to chase the only two starters when most of the table were already halfway through their carveries at 2:40. When my husband’s chicken wings arrived with no sauce, I chased my granddaughters chicken strips and his sauce as they had given her ketchup but no food. Eventually my husband’s sauce arrived and he realised halfway through that he actually had 3 wings and 2 nuggets. We gave up on the other starter and went to get the child carvery, only to come back and find the chicken strips had finally arrived but they were actually nuggets 🙈. At 15:10 I chased up the three remaining main courses; two had arrived but mine never did. The complaints about the carvery were numerous; staff standing around chatting while all the food had run out and no one was serving, vegetables were cold, carrots soft and unappealing, peas as hard as bullets. People left large amounts of food; one got a refund after being unable to eat much at all. On another plate the chips were a cheap oven variety and the ‘mushy’ (watery) peas were inedible. I ended up getting a refund as everyone had finished and my dinner never arrived! What made me really mad was that they add a tip to the bill when you order on line so once you realise how chaotic the service is, it’s too late to take it back. To be fair they did offer us free drinks but no one had the stomach for it after that! I would really love to see this place get itself straightened out - it’s a good size and a really nice space with good parking. Some training and development plus adequate staffing levels plus support for the team would pay dividends. Guinness was good!!

Cauliflower all stork and almost raw. Meat sliced so thin it didn't make it to the plate and only 2 slices on a large carvery. Been beans dried out. Yorkshire was small and shop bought. Roast potatoes was good though. The meals was so good as little as 12 months ago now I wouldn't recommend it to my worst enemy

Absolutely disappointed with the visit. Went for a family meal which we haven't done in a long time only to be told the carvery is being taken off until tea time as they had been busier than anticipated. We could have anything else off the menu which tbf didn't leave much else other than pizza or burger which none of us fancied. Poor management as its half term, you have half time offers on so obviously will be busier than usual. This should have been planned better i feel

We had a carvery, which was nice, but food was not very warm. Which was a shame . I will visit again, incase that was a one off

Shocking, I ordered the hot porker, supposed to come with bbq pulled pork and nacho cheese sauce, came with no bbq sauce in the pork and no nacho cheese sauce and literally 7 chips, my wife ordered dirty philly cheese burger. Came with no hash brown and no crispy onions and again 7 chips, my sons pizza was burnt hardly any cheese on so all the dough had bubbled up, used to enjoy it here but we won't be going back again was awful.

The food was good the staff are friendly. Family of 4 some had carvery and others had burger and pizza all of which were really good. We will be coming again.

Me and my friend come here at least twice per week. The staff are always welcoming and friendly, Emily, Tim, Ryan, Anne and angel are all a credit to this restaurant. There is a kitchen stall member who I talk to frequently she has a little boy, I can’t remember her name but she’s always so polite and friendly, one of my favourite things about this restaurant is the absolute impeccable standards of the toilets, they are so clean! Thank you to the staff for a great experience whenever me and my friend and her son come in.

A family of 6 went here for dinner. I have a little girl with eating problems and can only eat toast, and they had no problem at a busy time doing me a slice thank you

Carvery was very good, my 98yrs old Dad loved it. The beer is a bit pricey but not extortionate. Highly recommended by all in our party.

We came in to claim our £5 carvery voucher, we can’t believe that the voucher worked for all 6 of us, not just one! So 6 carveries for £30! The Stonehouse app is absolutely fantastic, thank you to the ladies on the till that helped me get sorted with it. Our carveries were lovely and hot, a great selection of vegetables and the gravy was really nice and thick! It was really busy which created a brilliant atmosphere and the staff were all so helpful and friendly! Thank you Cock and Crown, can’t wait to return xxxxx

I visited yesterday on the 11th January to a warm welcoming, food smelt amazing soon as I arrived and the staff was so pleasant. We had carveries which looked very fresh and vibrant. The young lady chef was very smiley and assisted me the whole time. Bar staff was also friendly and brought drinks to my table I would definitely recommend this restaurant. Can't forget to mention the price was very reasonable and I will be returning again of course.

Popped in for a coffee Quick friendly service . Plenty of customers .So it was pretty busy. 1.30pm thursday afternoon

Loads of tables filled with plates and empty drinks, had to sit down and ask for these to be moved. Once ordered the young waitress brought our drinks and split a large Pepsi max and lemonade all over me, all she could say was sorry can you move tables so I can clear up. Left me completely soaked, I had to ask for extra napkins to dry me off. Went down to the carvery, all the food looked like it had been sat there hours, very dry and little flavour. Little amount of gravy left but no staff around to ask to bring out more.

Called in for the deal of the week £5 carvery ribeye beef absolutely stunning,sticky toffee pudding so big we had 2 spoons ,,,staff so so friendly thank you to Lee,,Emily and all your friendly staff ,see you soon 😁
