Good place to shop for mostly African foodstuff.

Popped in for breakfast it was simple to order at the bar, I dont like using the app, the food came quickly and it was delicious.

It's a Spoons. Fantastic value.

customer service of the bar maid was very poor she was very dismissive and rude and was more interested in her mobile phone than serving this was mentioned to another staff member still no apology or explanation, we left our drinks and left the building without ordering.

Missed some items and staff weren't bothered

To say this is 'just another Wetherspoons' is to do a disservice to this fine establishment. From the outside it has a beautiful aesthetic appeal and this only continues inside because - while yes it is a Wetherspoons - the decor which has been chosen for the interior feels in-keeping with the Wetherspoon's mission of comfort and coziness. They have a great range of drinks at competitive prices, and their food is almost always top-notch. The few experiences that haven't been up to scratch, have been resolved immediately. There was once an occasion where a waiter delivered a plate of food and a piece of food - a chip - fell onto the recently cleaned table, to which I quipped 'I should get a free drink for that', thinking this to be a throwaway line, however the waiter replied, "what would you like?" and thus I was given a free drink because of a small inconvenience which wasn't even really an inconvenience. I have been going here now for many years, and the staff there know me and are able to deal with my particular requests regarding how a drink be served or how a meal be cooked. The only thing that can sometimes let the business down is the clientele, because often there are people who feel it necessary to make themselves a nuisance or invade other people's space once they are sufficiently inebriated, however this is short-lived as these people are often summarily ejected and - often - banned for a period of time to rentering. Overall, this is easily the best Wetherspoons I have been to and will continue to go to for many a year to come, and whether it be for a regular drink, or a special occasion, it will always be Wetherspoons for me. Special shout-outs to Craig, Scott, Jack, Sam, Simon and Holly who always go above and beyond for their customers regardless of how much inconvenience this causes them.

Awful experience, it used to be nice but the last 2 visits have been very poor. Tables were dirty, I used hand wipes to clean our table as it was covered in spilled drinks & food debris, we ended up moving tables to a larger table as there was 5 of us - had to move dirty glasses & food plates and clean the table again, vinegar & sauce bottles sticky & not clean, food on the floor. We ordered our food, 2 currys, chicken burger, american burger & pasta. Most of the food was warm rather than hot, the rice was stuck together in clumps & unpleasant, poppadoms were dripping in grease & naan was hard, curry not hot. None of our group enjoyed the food - very poor quality & not what we have normally experienced in other Wetherspoon pubs. My daughters partner was sick later that night probably from the chicken burger that was not fully warmed through. We won't be returning - really sad that pub this has deteriorated so much.

The pub is a fantastic pub but the Male toilets were disgustingly unclean, even the the Disabled toilets were filthy toilet paper on the floor and covered in water or something numerous people had complained but ultimately its staff especially the Young Lady “manager” didn’t care as she was having a bad shift, the young man was working his hardest to keep the bar tidy and served and customers happy. 12/8/24

Decent Wethers, friendly staff. Love the place and the staff but App service can be a bit slow at times.

Needs a little bit of TLC but it's my local wetherspoons so nice atmosphere local lovely people staff are helpful food ok 👍 no complaints

Enjoyed a very good breakfast with refillable coffee for just over a fiver. Not to easy to find parking, and not the best rail links. You may need to plan your journey. Would return.

Absolutely rubbish went in today daughter bought me dinner the American style burger didn't have much to it kids have had better burgers from mcds the nachos didn't even have any cheese on them the white sauce on them was clumpy as anything paid £30 for dinner out and was biggest waste of money ever absolutely disgusting won't be going again

My complaint here is the same as always the food is never hot. Warm pizza, warm chips, warm soup etc food needs to be got to you a lot hotter, nothing wrong with it other than that

Indoor and Outdoor seating with shades. Outdoor seating Good for summertime, on sunny days. If you wanted a relatively non-city setting and a bit drive away, then this could be one close to Castleford/Pontefract. Not going into the menu because it is typical Wetherspoons. Found the service a bit delayed as compared to other Wetherspoons, although that might be for a particular day.

What a poor choice of cask ale on sale but I guess these ales are the best sellers and it’s better to serve the devil you know unfortunately

Visit often on Saturday mornings for breakfast with my daughter. Always enjoy our visit

Absolute sh@t hole of a place run by bits of kids who don't know what they're doing. No greetings when you go to the bar and slamming about cos people had the audacity to order on the app. Don't know what they're doing and so rude and miserable. First time I've been in about 3 years and I won't be going again any time soon. Staff sat with customers while tables needed clearing. I cleaned my own table ! Had 1 drink and left. Thank God I didn't order food !

Good place to meet people drinks are cheap and meals are good and not expensive

This place needs a steam clean through out the chairs are all stained,the tables sticky,chewing gum stuck under rim of tables,the base of tables,had dried on food,god knows how long that had been on ,they really do need to have a word with their cleaners.when our food arrived it was only just warm,they brought out dirty cutlery.

As with most Wetherspoons the out side area is split for smoking and non-smoking. But this doesn’t stop people smoking wherever they want and the staff say nothing even when delivering drinks to a table of smokers in the nonsmoking area. Decided to give this place the benefit of the doubt and went back again today. Absolutely appalling. We were there for 90 minutes and tables not cleared in that time. Food all over the floor and so many people Vapeing and staff saying nothing. Been in some dirty Wetherspoons but this one is by far the worst l have ever been in.

We went there today, just for a coffee around mid day. So cannot comment on food. First impression was that it was a bit dingy and would benifit from some refreshed paint, no staff on bar for a few mins and only only one coffee machine had much working. But, it goes to show you shouldn't be too soon to judge! Once I got sat down I noticed they have a real fire (much appreciated on such a cold day!!) Then coffee machines was quickly refilled, it started to fill up and was quite chatty plus they have nice little raised beer garden. I was pleased to see that it had a little lift up to it to allow disabled access plus, a side door for disabled acess. So woth a visit if you are out that way.

food was better this time - just a pity about the god damn hillbillies sat not so far away - children present and the F word used in nearly every sentence with a fog horn of a voice - felt like eating at a farm today . . . . . . . oink oink

We always use wetherspoons wherever we go to. Was in the area of Hemsworth so dashed in for last minute brekky. Was going to have a muffin but the breakfast is on offer so had that. Where else can u get breakfast at the prices they charge . Very nice and hot. Actually went again 2 days later for tea. Again what we had was on offer.....ham egg and chips and a all day brunch. Pint lager and a non alcohol kopparberg just over £11. Both meals excellent 😋. Toilets nice as usual upstairs. Staff nice. Will defo go again.

It's been a while since I've been here, but it's not the best Wetherspoons. It's typically heavily crowded with rowdy people, and the decor is a bit cheap, as are the table and chairs. The food and drinks are what you expect from the chain, but as I said before, the space itself isn't great. If you're in the area and you want cheap drinks/food, then it's alright.

The food is good as usual but you don't even get 2 full glasses out of the pitcher! Been going to weatherspoons for enough time to understand how much you should get in a pitcher. But hey, here's to paying over a tenner for 3/4s a jug of ice!

We had lunch there, the offers were very good value for money. Highly recommended. Pleasant staff, plenty of space inside and outside 😉

Disgusting food. Oil soaked chicken in batter. When you put fork in, the oil oozed out. Bowl of small chopped pieces of peppers and tomatoes immersed in oil. Had to fish out pieces with fork and soak oil up on napkin. Chips were ok. Staff friendly enough, but it's put me off dining at Wetherspoons.

Well first time in a weatherspoons pub I wanted out they we fighting and no one had control they were regulars so it was swept under the carpet I asked what was going to happen to the culprits and they said we looked at the cameras and maybe 3 will be banned I think the area manager needs to look at the cameras shame as you don’t expect this in weatherspoons if I don’t get a response I won’t be returning as well as the group I was with

Very very very poor service. Waiting an age for serving at bar. Always the same every time I've been. Never enough staff on duty.

Had a lovely afternoon in the beer garden. Service at bar is a little slow, however I believe they are short staffed. I used the Wetherspoon app and was delighted how good service was. Staff polite. We ordered 3 small plates which I must admit were very tasty and perfectly cooked

Quite expensive for the small portions you get. 6oz American burger was tiny hardly any garnish or sauce on , just a large slice of gerkin and a few chopped onions. Chips tasted like fish ! Long waiting times. Very noisy.

Nice clean place. Food was nice. However the service was poor. One waiter threw food on to the table. Slow to clean the table of plates used.

It's was a bank holiday so was very busy how ever the staff couldn't have been nicer and it was the night b4 my daughters wedding and the wedding party came with us and they helped me choose a very nice bottle of bubble and the food was amazing too

Wetherspoons. The bar is good and the food is OK. You do get what you pay for. What I don't want or pay for is the frequently dirty tables and the filthy language of the clientele. (Men and women). A simple sign saying bad language will result in being thrown out would be a start and surely the business would stand a pot collector with a cloth to wipe the tables down.

Worst JD weatherspoon pub that we have been to. Should be a family pub but it didn't feel like that when you get moan at for using a tablet so your toddler can watch cartoons even that the pub was louder than your child tablet. Been to this pub a few times and never had any problem but tonight has been the worse experience. Manager wasn't interested in what we had to say all what he wanted is for the tablet to be on a low volume even tho my child couldnt hear nothing cause of the loud volume of other customers. Even tho it's a family pub but everyone should of been treated the same. Manager needs to learn how to deal with his customers better and to sort out all situation not to be rude to his customers and only be disrespectful to the family's that have young children with phones or tablets on. This manager Simon needs to go back to a managerment course and learn some respect to each of his customers and to take his customers seriously.

Breakfasts are usually OK but the tables and chairs are usually filthy. Hardly see any staff and none coming to clean vacated tables.

Really poor selection of proper real ale......can get Doombar in Tesco. Today for example only one Acorn beer available. Website never kept up to date and there never seems to be any beers arriving soon.

Fairly decent pub with an equally decent vegetarian selection, and lovely staff.

Disappointed in the 6oz America burger meal. Dried burger bun no coleslaw side salad which usually comes with and no option to buy very bland meal. Definitely order sides if ordering!

My wife & myself visited this establishment on Saturday night 28/01/23 at 18:40hrs. I had Wiltshire ham, 2 eggs & Chips, The ham was nice, and the eggs had been made earlier, for quickness I believe, and were dry & tough, and the chips were cold! My wife had the boneless basket, the chicken strips were nice & hot, but the chips were cold!

You can’t complain for a spoons. Staff are good and food is generally okay. Place is due a refurb though to bring some life back

Cheap and love there halloumi fries

This is weatherspoons therefore you get a comprehensive and very reasonably priced meal. They cater for vegans so there's something for everyone to eat. Lovely friendly and efficient staff, providing a quick service. Steep steps at the front but easy access for disabled is to the rear of the property.

Another Wetherspoon that didn't disappoint, enjoyable visit with friends, familiar food, friendly helpful staff.

Cheap reliable eats. Good variety of real ales. Very nice, reasonably priced sirloin with all the trimmings, perfectly cooked too.

Has been our local for many years good value typically witherspoons but very friendly staff.

A very busy lively place. Since management change and new menu is fab with more choice. The last few meals here have been wonderful compared to 6 months ago. Hope this continues. Furniture now is a little worn and place looks like it could do with freshening up but tbh its cosy and clean. Staff are a lot friendlier more approachable too and it's great to see a place thriving.

Amazing eggs benidict and decaff coffee. Free refil on coffee too

Had a couple of pints in here and it was great. Obviously its a wetherspoons so it was also cheap. However had a pizza and it was really really nice which shocked me tbh.....

Cheap and cheerful. Can't grumble for the price of food and drink, nice place to sit outside when it's sunny too but the picnic benches are on a slope.

Best Wetherspoons I've been to and wish it was more local to me, Been to all the ones in Leeds and this is the only one on curry club that has chutney every time, Meat was fresh and sauce was plentiful, A true delight I only wish this pub was more local to me, If I could give an extra star I would!

Went with family for the first time. Interesting as we ordered on an app. Tons of food and beverage choices. Beer came out quick and everyone enjoyed their food. I mean it’s exactly what I thought it would be.

Been for a breakfast absolutely disgusting ready plated up and microwaved and not even warmed up to temp. When i mentioned it could have done with a minute or 2 more in the microwave the girl blatantly lied to my face and said it wasnt microwaved. We literally ordered the breakfast she went in the kitchen we heard a ping after 2 mins and out comes the breakfast absolutely no cook in there. Disgusting!!

Good for a cheap pint. Food was less than favourable. Good atmosphere with plenty of locals. Families allowed and catered for also. Cheap and cheerful. Worth a punt if you want a cheap meal and drink without the thrills.

It's Wetherbobs, innit! My favourite Hemsworth nightclub of the 1990's is now my favourite Hemsworth food oriented pub of the 2020's (yes, I know it's the only one, but...) Does exactly what you'd expect. Decent food and drink at decent prices. Ignore the ramblings of the slightly strange owner and you won't go far wrong. And it's probably the only place my dad will go, because he's old & lazy and it's not far from home. *Update* He'll occasionally go to Redbeck too but this is well classy compared to there.

Food was hit and miss, 6 people for lunch and it took 35 minutes mine was cold and raw but everyone's else was fine... staff we're rude and unhelpful, sauces used to be free but we had to pay 80p for sriacha and £1.40 for BBQ... I'll never come in again I know you get what you pay for but a little bit better service with a smile would have been great.

Terrible,, been before n said never again but had my arm twisted again today to come for breakfast... ordered a large breakfast, toast was flat cold, the mushroom was like a greasy fat slug at best, bacon flat cold n dryer than gandhi's flip-flop n there is more meat in a vegan burger than there is in those sausages
