Costa Coffee in Wakefield

Revised review 08/02/2025 came in on a busy Saturday lunchtime. Staff far more efficient than our previous experience and very friendly. Much better experience than a few years ago. Will definitely return 15:30ish on 01/10/2022. Went into Costa for coffee and a bun. Although there were 5 members of staff on duty when we arrived, the queue in store was long, as was the queue for the drive through. Staff were busy, and consequently half or more of the tables were left uncleared, making the inside seating area look very untidy. Coffee was good when we eventually got served, although the buns were underwhelming. The Pastel de Nata was almost albino, instead of having a brown crispy shell. The Cinnamon Brioche was tasteless. Despite bringing in two reusable coffee mugs, I only received one green bean instead of two.

Called for takeaway coffee on while out walking: served by a young “don’t want to be here” girl. While waiting for my coffee I noticed numerous tables needed clearing and four members of staff stood by the. Drive through window doing nothing but chatting.

Their coffee doesn't taste good or have good quality. We ordered from them, they spilled some of our coffee when they delivered it and laughed at their work. Although there were many people working there, the tables were dirty.

The tables are always dirty. Often the staff forget shots or to mix the shots before serving.

Love most costa cafe places with exception to junction 32 where it's dirty, poor customer service and slow.

I called to Costa today at the Glasshoughton store with a friend and was greeted with exceptional service from two members of staff named Jess and Becky, They both catered to my needs and welcomed my request of a specific drink that i love. Left more than happy. Thank you Jess and Becky they deserve a reward! :D

Ordered extra hot drinks. One sat waiting on the counter. Returned one that I'd had a few drinks from definitely not as I'd asked for. Rude girl didn't want to help then another came from drive through counter and snatched the glass from me through it in the sink then made another. They were not overly busy but waited ages to be served in the first place. Couldn't see the girls name tags as they were covered otherwise you would be named for your rudeness! Other customers were complaining about the excessive wait.

High windows and sun is a terrible combination

Although there appeared to be lots of staff behind the counter, some were busy doing nothing. It took 25minutes to get served. Lots of dirty tables too. Over all not a good experience.

Terry's chocolate orange hot chocolate is a must buy during the festive period and a Terry's muffin that good. i went 3 days in a row whilst passing

items missing and or replaced, ocean hour and a half late, no contact from the restaurant and no number to call. disgraceful

Absolutely brilliant great coffee and great staff

Excellent place, always seems to be a place to sit, also has a drive through option. Car park can get busy, but it's ok most of the time. Has electric car charging station. Food is usual Costa range, quick, easy and good variety of choice. Staff are friendly and efficient. Would be 5 star for atmosphere, but like most Costa I visit, cleaning isn't the best, lots of surface and corners that don't seem very clean, nothing serious though to put me off going, in fact often expected with a large foot traffic place. Plenty of plugs and USB Access for charging phones and laptop etc. All in all a good relaxing place to visit, with easy wheelchair access and toilets. Thank you, enjoy

This is always very busy, but worth the wait. The coffee and pastries are delicious.

Ordered flatbread which was delivered in a packet and not warmed. No sealed lids on drinks which spilt. Worst costa I have dealt with.

Every time I go into the shop I get a friendly welcome and good service. The only downside is the music can be a touch too loud. Apart from that its ok

Waited so long for a coffee and a cold egg and mushroom sandwich delivery time extended by over 45 minutes you should not take orders you cannot fulfill

Food arrived flat cold and the drink arrived with no straw, the cream and mixed with the coffee which shows it has been left too long

One drink completely spilt in the bag. For the amount you pay drinks should arrive without spillage fully.

Stopped by to use instavolt to charge my car and grabbed a coffee. Was nice but just very busy which isn’t their fault. Very nice overall

Had drinks delivered with no straws

Delivery never came. Order then stated delivered 2 hours later within the delivery window given, when it wasn’t delivered at all. It was still showing at restaurant 2 hours after closing time!

Love the toast and different flavour coffee

Well layed out store. Staff were friendly and polite. Displays were well stocked and ample carparking spaces available. Overall what I expected, but a good experience.

I will give it 5 stars but in all honesty we just called in for a coffee. The cafe and toilets were nice and clean and the service we received was very good. Prices for coffee were reasonable. We would definitely call in again if we are out that way.

It was busy today. But well worth the wait. The other half had a latte, and I had a cappuccino. We also had a toastie apiece. Good service as usual.

Drive through...medium latte only half full.Left and on my journey so not worth turning around. Paid for medium and really only got small .DISAPPOINTED

Putting a regular drink in a large cup isn't something I'd expect from Costa. It hadn't spilt it was just half full

Second time we have revieved a wrong drink. Ordered a Cappucino and an iced frappe. Recieved 2 cold drinks instead. C'mon!!

We went to Costa today to try the ice whipped latte white chocolate drinks. We were served by Laura who went above and beyond to amend the method to make my wife a decaf version of the drink. She was very happy and Laura was very police and cheerful. Thank you very much.

Service is always really slow. A lot can be done to avoid long queues. One of the managers (male) can also be quite rude. Other than that the other staff members are really nice and helpful.

Very expensive food for what it is.

Food was cold and coffee was like warm. Not good enough

Usually good however occasionally there are hairs in the drinks which can really put me off them

Why do you have items available when ordering and then these are unavailable at the time of delivery? It happens quite often to be honest, but I do appreciate the replacement with something similar. This time you have just left a message on the delivery bag asking ME to contact Just Eat for a refund. You should be going through this process not myself.

Love it here, my 2nd favourite after Starbucks. Personal choice

A really lovely visit for some much-needed caffeine. Nobody batted an eye as I fed the baby. Excellent service and nice atmosphere.

I visted costa over the weekend for a business meeting never in all the years iv been coming here iv never experienced such dreadful experience unfortunately will not be coming back here staff were rude and didn't care about customer service was stood at side of the coffee machine and 1 women (tanned) talking badly about mangerment calling him a liar and been Insubordination and staff rolling eyes due to this we asked for our drinks to be put in takeaways and we took our drinks and money elsewhere Due to owning my own business I understand how staff talk badly about mangerment but I don't find it professional talking badly about mangerment to customers I do feel like this needs to be addressed and she needs to be made aware of her actions as this not appropriate or acceptable behaviour and it can also ruin a business and there reputation.

Fast convenient and polite driver

Missing food like always. Poor service. I always end up having to get a refund due to staff been unable to process an order correctly.

Food cold and items missing. This keeps happening every time I order. I now have two children up set because they are missing they are missing items.

Loud and disrespectful can't believe the attitude of some staff 2 grown women talking badly about another staff member stating she can't be trusted the nasty comments they were saying was disgusting not only that one of the women smelt of cigs and the other nasty women just ignored you when spoken to I will be making a formal complaint about the service I received today as its not acceptable or the behaviour

Never in my life have I ever encountered such horrible service from 2 women so rude and disrespectful the way they walked around and talked about staff infront of customers is awful and degrading and came across as bullies I will be making a full complaint to costa about this outburst not only was it bad service but 1 of the women was signing sexual songs and chewing gum and stunk of fags when been served at the till normaly there a lovely bunch but today was horrendous hopefully next time will be a better service

Staff need to learn professional boundaries with male customers especially when they are with their partners! Trying to flirt with customers is not appropriate or appreciated

Great service. Especially the young lady that over hears your order and gets it ready before you get to the desk. Fantastic.

they are all completely lovely and never fail to make me smile, the understanding of my regular (long) order is amazing and they always make sure it is perfect!!

Ordered a caramel frappe, a toastie and a brownie. The toastie is pretty good and warm enough, but the frappe is poor, especially for £5. Could get a cheaper, better one from mcdonalds. Booked in advance to get here for 12pm, didn't arrive until nearly quarter past, but I think that's more on the driver than costa themselves to be fair, considering I'm pretty sure he didn't even get to costa for my order until after 12.

Had coffee, it was costa what can you say!

This place can be quite hit/miss. Sometimes the service and atmosphere can be very pleasant and at other times it can be quite rushed and chaotic. On this occasion the Sticky Toffee Latte wasn't to the best presentation. There was plenty of staff around, but no one seemed to want to clear tables.

The servers are always really cheerful people. :)

For whatever reason this branch of Costa really struggle to get orders right. About half of my recent orders were missing at least one item. Clearly no quality checks are being performed. Not a good branch or representative of Costa Coffee at all

Ordered 6 drinks to be delivered, 1 of them was wrong and 1 of them was missing.

Very warm inside. Not sure if that's a blessing or not. Had to go outside to cool down a couple of times.

Extremely slow. People in the queue actually left and walked out. The girl serving forgot to put our tray out ready and it had to be picked up by another worker as an outstanding order.

I love a brew, and this place fits the bill. Good coffee on the whole and the staff are again on the whole good. Occasional issues with orders but they were busy. Even bought a 2 good to go bag(I'm tight) pop in and throw your wildest hot drink dreams a moist and tasty bone.

Pretty consistent for Costa - you know what you’re going to get and the quality is always the same. Busy though - be prepared for a wait at busy times.
