The Six Chimneys in Wakefield

Our first visit here. My steak was perfectly cooked medium. My husband had fish and chips were also very good. A very good spoons

this place is a HELL HOLE! we walked in and sat down, everything was going fine. we ordered our drinks and looked forward to a nice catch up. but that’s where we were wrong. the lady, short, plump brunette woman with a bun, came over and slammed our drinks down on the table. my friend was watching a video on her phone, and the lady demanded that she turned it off immediately as we weren’t allowed volume. which she did. when we ordered more drinks, we got the same nasty attitude as before. that’s when we decided to ask for the lady’s name. i asked another member of staff and he replied “i don’t know who you’re on about.” and stormed away without warning. after that, we asked another member of staff. she told us she wasn’t allowed to give out any names. what? the staff are disgracefully rude and unprofessional. i would warn you to never come to this wetherspoons as the atmosphere is horrible and upsetting.

Ordered 2 shipyard pale ales which were awful a real bitter after taste , the manger refused to change it said there was nothing wrong with it . had there many times before .and tasted so different . Very poor managerial skills .

Bit rubbish really, seemed dirty and lights didn’t work

we used to come here all the time until the other day the manager on shift, Lucy, wrongly accused us of being banned. i’m not sure how she came to this assumption but she started acting very rude and unprofessional, created a horrible atmosphere and forced us to leave, not manager worthy!!dont waste your time!!

Went to this pub with my friends before going to Westgate. Atmosphere seemed nice originally but then the “manager” Lucy falsely accused us of having being banned previously and once we explained we weren’t went on to say “our kind weren’t welcome here anyway”. As me and my friends are Muslim, we found this very offensive. I am unsure if she said it to be racist or because she didn’t believe we had never come before but it was a bad first impression and left a sour taste. AVOID!!

9 of us went in on Christmas day for a few hours, the 3 staff working were very friendly and provided excellent service. It wasn't overly busy but it was a great atmosphere

Atmosphere was lovely i went for breakfast it was quieter at that time families were eating together, service was efficient and food was lovely and warm compared to other wetherspoons. THUMBS UP

Ordered eggs Benedict and it was awful. Eggs were hard and not enough hollandaise sauce.

Beer selection very ordinary compared with the Spoons I frequent

Order Guinness man 1/2 did it then left at pump and then walk off Manager on that night did not like me asking for my drinks to be finished off

Place was huge and spacious. Staff were welcoming and polite. Good value.

A much better Wetherspoon now it has been extended and improved.

The bar was all sticky & the table just put me off a bit

Spent every tuesday minimum meeting up with a friends this has been for atleast the last 6 years .we were thrown out on Tuesday my friend is 69 I'm 55 . All because they have a policy about people helping the homeless that come into store selling item .if you give them any money your out so don't get a conscience and lower yourself to helping someone in Need no matter how much they beg. We did point out the weather conditions and we're not due to be picked uptill 10pm but rules are rules at spoons . We did try to plead but all the staff with there little cameras and earpieces think they are part of secret services, remember loyalty at weatherspoons means nothing .and this was confirmed by email the staff answer to no one. This was a five star review changed to 1 star and well deserved , how things can change with a new manager on board .

Place had a refurb shame it's not the staff. Dirty toilets ,bar dirty ,sticky tables. Absolutely no interaction with staff all like robots , Not a place to make you feel at home

Sent a drink to my husband and friend to there table number, this drink was sent as a surprise but unfortunately the ginger haired sour face bar tender delivered the drink and said have your ordered these ,my husband said I don’t think so ,she walked away and threw the drink away .no explanation that the drinks were paid for and for the table , After ringing to complain ginger hair Lucy said and I have the recording ,I poured the drink I delivered the drink they said they didn’t want them my job done. No custer service from staff , was better before the refurb.

Again nice pub nice handpulled beer at a good price 👍

they need more staff on to serve as we had to wait a while and all she could say was you will all get served eventually, even couple guys was waiting , not good customer service if you ask me

Busy pub. Got what I expected and enjoyed it.

Yeh a bit out of the way but a nice pub but my only bug bear is that the toilets are upstairs I would say 2 flights and there were no signs for the disabled one but yeh was a nice pub as wetherspoons go

Visited here today with friends, my friend ordered her food at the till. Member of staff brought the food out my friend said I ordered mine in a muffin, staff member left then continued to clean tables. My friend asked is my breakfast coming? To be told no by same staff member you ordered it as a sandwich and not muffin so no it's not coming. I said working in a cafe myself can't you just do it on the muffin? No she ordered it on bread at the till staff repeated the order that's what she gets. My friend raised voice a little as staff very rude indeed. Basically saying she wasn't getting anything, I was like so till person has made an error and she's like no your friend. Absolutely shocking she's like then I'll get a manager, took ages to come to us. Who was lovely but I pointed out his staff member was very rude and smug even though all my friend had asked if she was getting her breakfast replacement? To which she replied no with a smirk on her face, wasn't even going to tell my friend. I work in a cafe environment and I would never just leave a customer sat waiting not even mentioning anything, you can easily offer to do a refund and put the correct item through the till it's not hard to do. Absolutely ridiculous all they had to do was swap the bread for a muffin. The manager was lovely just needs to sort the very rude staff out I would never treat or leave a customer how this lady did very disappointed

Good staff food so so cant describe it as home cooked no way everything microwaved ok for price hey you get what you pay for please look at smokers in door.way so bad get a nicotine rush when entering also the ladies toilets need looking at think people using disable ones cos cant be arsed going upstairs !!

This Wetherspoons has been fully refurbished with plenty of seating. Good choice of drinks & food.

Heartfelt fabulous on a Sunday lunchtime, tho maybe Spoons on a Saturday night would be something else? Lol. Abbott ale at £1.79. Are you kidding me?

Called in on Sunday afternoon for lunch and unfortunately couldn't find anywhere to sit due to heaps of used plates etc strewn across the tables. Finally got seated on a table half of which was clear and ordered food on the app. No one cleared the empty glasses or plates from beside us, even when they brought out our food. The food was poor.

A nice renovation job, making this a very big pub. We had food and for the price it was great. The staff were very friendly but busy.

Beers can be great but at 6 chimneys bar staff has gone right down. Fed up.of being served by kids who can't pull a pint, never know who is next to serve and are ignorant and slow.

Friendly staff, fast service and so sorry to offend some , but amazing smoke area, its under cover so we can actually enjoy a pint in the rain, makes a change to have a descent smoke area.

Food was excellent,fast, and mixed grill with chips were astounding,this place years ago was known for microwave meals and cheap pints, since renovation it's more than just place for lads to meet but somewhere id consider taking a gf! Fanastic food, surprisingly impressed,the chefs make way higher grade food than weatherspoons do.

Friendly staff and good range of food for a decent price. It was a busy saturday with not many seats spare but we still got served in a reasonable time.

All the food looked fine although I didn't eat there today. Just had a drink and met up with . Lovely weather today so sat in beer garden which was very nice indeed

Before the recent (£3million) refurbishment, this Wetherspoons was one of the worst I'd ever been to - it was dimly lit, had 'tired' furnishings, was somewhat dirty, had awful toilets, etc. Generally, it was uninviting. However, since re-opening this February, it's changed dramatically. Admittedly, it needed to, urgently, but I think the money's been well spent. Now, it's much larger (at least twice the size), with a much more pleasant (and again, larger) outside area, it's all new, clean and is well managed and organised by staff who are efficient, courteous and polite. The range of beer's typically excellent, the food's great (for the price, anyway - people can't expect too much when it's ready in only 10 minutes!) and overall it's a great pub, which I'd highly recommend. My only two complaints are 1. the lack of downstairs toilets (except a single disabled one, which is inadequate) and 2. the occasional 'rough' character(s) (but it's cheap (like all Wetherspoon pubs) in a rather grotty part of Wakefield centre (Kirkgate, although there are current plans to upgrade this area - again, MUCH needed!), therefore it's almost to be expected, but doesn't detract much from the otherwise good atmosphere).

Lovely spoons after a its re-furb...friendly staff a quick service well worth a visit. Had a nice breakfast here.

A decent upgrade of the original Six Chimneys. Plenty of room. Clean toilets. Good menu. Great prices. Ramen bowl and pepsi for £6.99 - you can't fault it.

Just popped in for lunch. Nice food. Ordered food at bar but was not waiting long.

Standard Spoons, Not exceptional, nor was it the worst

Nice pub, and food ok but nothing special.

The six chimneys is miles better since they upgraded it. Lovely bright atmosphere and plenty of room. The new part is brighter and not gloomy. My double American cheese burger bun was a bit on the dry side and spoilt the burger. But I'll be back again to give it another go.

A rowdy place with lots of messy tables and a lack of staff to clear and clean them. Bar staff was abused by a drunken customer. He was hurling foul language at her. She acted as though it was a part of the norm. This was at lunchtime.

Never went no were to park only on the street

Very racist bar tender Refused to sell us alcohol because one of us was not having an id and they told us to leave when we are done eating our food. Very disgusted and disappointed. Not ever gonna step my feet again there.

Breakfast wasn't as hot as it should of been if it was freshly cooked, felt more as if it had stood for abit, but other than that all good.

There was no straws, I was outraged, kids was crying

All of parties food was cold. Staff replaced our food and brought us a free round of drinks. So left quite Happy.

Never left any type of review before I've been a Wetherspoon fan for decades and I still am, but the real ale and staff attitude today in Wakefield Wetherspoon's is very poor. The real ales are flat as a fart. Ales on show not all available. Staff can't pull a pint. They've just lost 3 meals and it'll be a long while before we visit Wakefield Wetherspoon's again. Others will get our frequent custom.

I recently just visited today, and two lovley female servers were being screamed at by a customer and I just think they handled the situation very very well, even offered the angry bloke a drink and he refused.

The whole place is lovely after the refurb, kind staff and the manager Laura is extremely helpful and welcoming! Had a great time here, food was great value and a lovely atmosphere. Beer garden and pub nice and tidy throughout the visit, would definitely go again!

Cheap and cheerful, newly refurbished and extended. This has created a large dining area,which is much quieter than before. They also have a large outdoor area. Since the refurbishment they seem to struggle at times to offer a varied updated craft beer menu.

We were looking forward to visiting this newly refurbished venue. Food was really good. Piping hot and very reasonably priced. Coupled with the drink included option it was excellent value for money. What really let it down was that the smoking area was closed at 9.00pm so the only option is to smoke on the street where you can't take out your drink with you. Therefore you either have to run the risk of your drinks being spiked or removed if you leave them unattended or to leave your other half in the pub whilst you nip outside one at a time. Not good and not what we expected. Won't hurry back!

The food was spot on. Came out fast. Was delicious. the barstaff however, left too much to be desired. I waited at the bar, and 3 people came after me and were served first. I asked if i was invisible and said i was here first. This apparentley offended them and they said its always the wakefield men. (Im not even from wakefield). I didnt swear. I said please and thankyou. If you want good food, go to spoons. If you want god barstaff, go elseshere.

A very roomy and pleasant Spoons. Service was quick and efficient with staff friendly and helpful. There is a large outside area at the rear and a large amount of tables and chairs. Good choice of real ales and other alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. Good lunchtime atmosphere and well worth a visit. When it first re opened service was slow but a vast improvement since then.

Since the refurbishment it's a lot bigger and better.

It was very good and the food is great every I go in xx
