The Carpenters Arms in Windsor and Maidenhead

Great location but everything else was awful. We decided to go here for a roast dinner last weekend, however ended up with no roast. I have a dairy allergy and asked for a dairy free roast. Firstly the servers knowledge of allergens in their food was atrocious, they need training on that immediately. The manager was running between the kitchen who didn’t know and a book of allergens which also barely stated. This needs to be sorted as soon as possible. The only thing that was offered was a vegan pie, no other dairy free food on their menu at all. Safe to say we did not stay for food.

I expected a typical tourist location meal, but was very pleasantly surprised. Had a local ale and a steak and ale pie to go with it! Food was lovely and service friendly and prompt. Sat outside, on the cobbled street looking at the castle. Brilliant. Will come again

Went to The Carpenters Arms for dinner the service was great (Order at the bar no the table) the main course was fantastic everyone enjoyed the pies which were full of meat, I especially enjoyed my Fish Pie it was delicious. The puddings were very nice however my apple and blackberry crummble was stone cold (i think they forgot to cook it) my sisters was piping hot (maybe double microwaved). Overall a really good meal.

This is a fabulous pub in the cobbled streets of Windsor just by Windsor Castle. We had lunch there and the food was amazing! Fish and chips and I had steak with peppercorn sauce. My friends had nachos to start with topped with pulled pork. Good selection of cask ales too. The staff are very friendly and service was perfect. The pub is worth a visit for the food and hospitality and also for a little history thrown in! There’s a suit of armour at the bottom of the back steps as this is one of the original Inns that had a tunnel coming from the castle in the 15th century. Not to be missed!

Fabulous! Good atmosphere, friendly helpful staff and the best beef & ale pie I’ve ever had! Which was unexpected in a pub so close to Windsor Castle …. I had low expectations but would unreservedly recommend it

While visiting Windsor Castle we stopped in for a quick lunch. They had a sign outside with a beef pie picture so I tried it. My wife had their soup of the day, tomato and I had the beef pie and both were excellent. The Carpenter's Arms is a pub and their food was didn't disappoint.

a proper pub not all winebarified and lovely staff serviing well priced drinks but most importantl the most EXCELLENT fish and chips. the fish is super fresh and batter not to thick and gluggy but crisssspy and tasty. the thick chips too moreable and the mushy peas we delicious. its the second time ive eaten this dish here and frankly its worth the drive out of London to eat at this delightful english pub. most dont know that if you buy a ticket to Windsor Castle you can use if for 12 months so can go back any time that it is open. therefore many more lunches at the Carpenters Arms for us !

Friendly locals pub, a lot bigger than it looks from the road with nice outside are at the front and back. There were 5 premium ales on tap when I went for lunch... Black Sheep, Nicholsons, Timothy Tailor, London Pride plus one other. The Nicholsons was in v good nick .. delicious. Food was lovely, very well presented. Staff are incredibly friendly and helpful and despite the fact they were super busy, they still patiently stopped to patiently explain everything about the area to us. Dog-friendly. Recommended!

Had fish and chips for lunch in the The Carpenter's Arms. Very cozy pub and we were there perfectly a bit early before the rush started. Very good fish and chips with some mayo and pea puree: large portion. Friendly staff and good location.

Booked a table to watch England match for the Euros. Table great and screen really close to us. All staff were amazing ! Really pleasant team! We also had dinner which was very good. We’d chips with bbq brisket to start , fish pie and steak and ale pie for mains. Food was great I’d recommend.

First time visiting The Carpenters Arms. While visiting Windsor and the Castle. As it was a rather hot day. We sat outside in the perfect shaded spot. Which was a welcome relief. We had time to kill before the castle. So we went here for a drink. Then returned after the castle for lunch. The food was absolutely amazing. Would definitely recommend this place. It's a short walk from the Railway Station. And open top bus also nearby.

Lovely friendly pub, the staff were great , we didn't eat there but while we had a couple of drinks celebrity chef Michel Roux Jr came in for lunch so I'm guessing there must be something in the reviews.

Popped in here for a bit of lunch after a cold walk down The Long Walk. It was beautifully decorated for Christmas and there was a warm and friendly welcome. I ordered the parsnip soup which was unavailable unfortunately, but I was glad that they had tomato soup as an alternative.

Food was great. Had the brisket beef pie with mashed potatoes and roasted carrots. It was delicious. Everyone loved the food.

We went here for dinner on 29/10/2023 and my wife and myself were not impressed whatsoever, they had no chicken left so we only had one choice and that was beef, on the arrival of our meal I just looked at the presentation and thought what the heck is that. We also found that there was no hospitality and no pleasantness at all, finally our 2 meals a small wine and thatchers gold came to £49 which again was in my opinion extortionate, I cannot recommend the carpenters arms and will not be returning ourselves.

Nice quiet pub with good menu. It is positioned slightly away from the keen castle tourists. You also get to hear the cheers of weddings taking place nearby! A good spot when everywhere else is packed out.

Stooped for lunch after visiting the castle. Excellent coffee, proper fish n chips and spot on sausage and mash. One of the best meals of our trip and the best sausage I've ever had! A bit quirky inside as how the tables are set up and you order your food and drinks at the bar. A server brings your order to your table when it's ready. Wonderful food and service, good atmosphere. If ever in Windsor again we would definitely return.

This is a very nicely decorated pub bigger inside than it looks from outside staff and manager friendly and accommodating… food was excellent I had fish pie( the pub is renowned for its pies) my husband had steak which he said was very nice but when he saw the pies he regretted his choice so will definitely have to have a return visit… meal was reasonably priced

Friendly bar staff who will go the extra to look after you. Nothing is too much for them. Fun and entertaining, will always make sure you are having the best time possible. Drinks are good and service is quick
