Absolutely loved this restaurant, the nicest food, service and atmosphere and made my birthday very special. The team were amazing, the chef cooked the food really well and service was impeccable. I will definitely be going again and recommending to friends and family

Lovely lunch in the 'conservatory' building by the river. Tasty food and good selection. Attentive and pleasant staff.

The serving staff were great, but the food is pretty average. We wanted to sit in the covered outside area which was more than half empty, but were told it was fully booked, and were only offered inside the pub itself or outside which it was too cold for. For the two hours we were there we could see that the covered area wasn’t in fact full, and could have easily accommodated us. It was a shame as we were there to celebrate a birthday, so the whole experience was a bit disappointing. I wouldn’t bother going again, there are plenty of better places to eat in Windsor.

Spontaneously dropped by on a Sunday for a late lunch. Food was delicious, highly recommend the Brie starter. Our server, Olivia, was super friendly, attentitive, and helpful. I enjoyed the Boatman. It is convenient, being a two minute walk from the train station. I had gone up to London for the day so stopped here for dinner. The food was good. Nicelynpresented. Nicely cooked. I had the sea bass which was very fresh and lovely. It came with roast potatoes and braised spinach w a basil pesto. I also had the chicken liver pate starter which was tasty. I could have made all of this food myself and presented it the same way, which is to say this place serbes very noce food but it isnt cutting edge. Not every restaurant should be, though. I would call this food beautifully done familiar food. The setting was great. The conservatory has lovely views of the river and fairy lights give it a great ambiance. I would come here again.

We visited The Boatman for the second time tonight and both times we have absolutely loved it! The food is absolutely incredible, the service is quick and friendly, and the setting and atmosphere is lovely. The cocktails are delicious too! If you can get a table in the separate conservatory, it's so romantic in there and the outlook over the river is stunning. Highly recommended!

Where do I start, the food was absolutely brilliant and arrived in good time. I was lucky to be served by Fernandez, who provided the best service I’ve seen in all my years of dining. I highly recommend this restaurant and if your are lucky enough to bump into Fernandez you are in for an extra treat.

Its a shame that the ideal setting wasn't matched by the service, which was very poor. Female wait staff were pleasant enough though after taking our order were largely inattentive. Our starters were enjoyable. HOWEVER our experience thereafter went downhill. It took over an hour for three of four of our mains to arrive and that only after having told several wait staff a number of times that we had waited a long time and that people who came in some 40 minutes after us had been served mains before us. My meal never arrived and when I cancelled my order (a simple beefburger, no cheese or bacon) chips and salad an obnoxius bearded man immediately went on the offensive (in both meanings of the word) and aggressively came out with a litany of excuses including "we aren't a fast food restaurant" and "it takes 20 minutes to make a beefburger" and trying to make out that the people who arrived after us had "probably ordered before us", thereby totally ignoring that I had already waited over an hour for my main and implying I was being too impatient. While debating the issue and him trying to get me to accept a fishcake (I don't eat fish) as an alternate a waiter suddenly appeared with a beefburger with cheese on it! On turning that down and reiterating that I no longer wanted my meal, my friends having already consumed most of theirs, the obnoxous man, without apologising for their mistake or attempting to smooth the situation over to the satisfaction of us both he turned on his heel muttering something unintelligible (and I assume something less than complimentary to me) under his breath! This is one place I will definitely avoid the next time I am visiting from New Zealand. I recommend that others do too...........

We came to your restaurant on Saturday 14th October after taking my mum and a friend that had travelled from New Zealand to Windsor Castle, in the hope that we had a lovely meal to finish off the day. Unfortunately not only did we wait over an hour and a half for the main course, we had to highlight that we had also noticed other people who had arrived after us, had be given there main course. The waiter told us this was because we had starters and this was the delay. What absolute nonsense!! Eventually three of the dinners came out leaving one guest to wait as he ordered a simple burger, but was presented with bolognese? After a further wait, without explanation, the foodless member of our party decided it was too late due to most of us being halfway through our meal, and then cancelled his burger order as it was now just too late. The bearded waiter came to us without apology and confirmed no burger was required, then miraculously produced one, this had cheese so was not the burger ordered and so was refused, then, somehow, the offer of a fishcake was put forward by the bearded man which was also refused (we feel this was probably actually someone else's order). He then proceeded to explain how long it takes to make a burger (25 minutes apparently). This waiter was absolutely appalling and had no idea how to speak to customers. It's not our fault, we are the paying customer. It's your fault that the food did not come out on time, and you could not even accept you made an error. There was no follow up - how are the other meals - which was a shame as the food was actually quite good. Another saving grace was the kind waitress, young girl, white shirt, brown hair tied back who was very helpful and empathetic. She needs a promotion!!!! And the waiter needs to learn a few things from her in customer service!!!!! Will never come again and will be sharing this with anyone we know visiting Windsor in the future.

A little disappointed. We booked 9 of us for Sunday lunch ( 6 adults, 3 children ) all adults had Sunday lunch , vegetable selection was poor and the chicken came on the bone and had been heavily season which was strangely a little spicy, the roasts had also had a similar treatment . We ordered a child’s version which for most children would have not been suitable Given the seasoning . The beef seemed to be ok and the lamb was underwhelming. We also had the children’s goujons which went down well. The children’s burger was overdone and the bun burnt abd not great quality. Desserts were ok but mass produced on the whole . Disappointed no mocktails as well . The location is great although I would think parking could be a issue later in the day ( we were booked for 12) the ambience of the conservatory was flat and that was matched by the service . I had contacted the establishment via email the week before to say it was a special occasion ( birthday ) but no response . Overall having spent well over £200 the feeling it was not value for money or worthy of a return visit . Such a shame given it’s location but that’s probably why they can get away with it

Went for lunch before an important hospital meeting. Staff welcoming and efficient from the off. Oliver made our drinks perfectly and then served us when we came in to eat . Main courses very nice and desserts superb. However the biggest shout out has to be for the exceptional service from the young man - Oliver. He was so very friendly and took time out to have a chat with us - really made our day. Also made a fuss of our elderly Jack russel. Thank you Oliver ! A real asset to the team 🎉

Called here for drinks on afternoon, After asking the waitress if we're ok to sit outside for a gin and tonics she said yes that's ok. After around 10 minutes a Gentleman who works there decided to ask her something while looking over at us then she came over to ask if we're eating , to which we said not just yet. She then informed us we were ok to finish the drinks but if we wanted anymore could we go inside and drink them as the outside was for customers eating food. I litterally couldn't believe that this approach was given and considering there was only around 5 people eating outside we hardly was taking and space up. We then went inside the bar and asking for another gin and tonic in same glass I'll point out at this stage the ice had melted so when the bar staff popped another gin in the glass some manager I presume an Asian Guy decided to challenge the member of staff thinking I can only presume he was giving drinks away. Once we put him straight he walked off with an attitude. All in All this place gives you the impression of they think there better than they really are and to say they make us feel unwelcome is an understatement.. Believe me although the Venue is in a nice location there are better welcoming establishments in Windsor to visit. We'd not be returning for sure....

I booked a table online a couple of hours before visiting on a Thursday evening, as we were staying in Windsor. After I booked, I looked at the reviews on here and almost cancelled. I’m so glad I didn’t as the food and service we received were excellent. We were greeted immediately on arrival and seated in the conservatory, which is decorated beautifully with lots of pretty fairy lights, overlooking the river. I chose the lamb shoulder and my husband chose the Mediterranean sea bass and we shared a side of tender stem broccoli Our drinks arrived quickly as did our food. Whilst we were waiting we caught glimpses of food going to other tables and everything looked so good. The portion sizes were generous and both of our meals were delicious - the lamb shoulder was so tender. Our only regret is that we didn’t leave enough room for dessert! The Boatman might not be the cheapest restaurant, but for the service, quality of food and location, we thought it was really well priced. A lovely pub to visit, particularly for a special occasion or a romantic meal. Our visit was one of the highlights of our trip to Windsor.
