The Bletchingley Arms in Tandridge

Slightly disappointed, having been here in the past I wanted to take my partner. He had the chicken and rib combo and I had the fajitas. We did arrive at a later booking time of around 8pm which could have contributed to the my partner’s meal, being slightly dry and not as filling had he had hoped. We do feel the standard shouldn’t drop due to time, just a possible justification. My fajitas were nice, however presentation for the salsa, sour cream, avocado and cheese being all shoved in one bowl, was slightly disappointing. I would recommend using small bowls for each and slightly bigger wraps as the portion was large however hard to get all filling in such small wraps. My partners ribs were warm on the edges and hot in the middle, his chicken was small and dry unfortunately as mentioned. The portion size was small than he’d hoped, as the chicken he had was as said, small and dry. Our server was lovely attentive and friendly. The pub itself inside seemed tired, a little dirty in places, on the walls, windows, carpets tired and radiators pretty gross. The outside look delightful maybe we would come back for a drink in the summer, I would come back for food, disappointed. The prices are high and if we compare it to a pub of similar cost like the Fox revive/Haycutter it fall very short of their standard, considering the prices we paid. I feel the Bletchingley Arms needs a revamped of the extensive menu, a good clean and uplift of the inside area. It’s a highly competitive industry and if like me you go you maybe unlikely to go back without these small changes.

We took our learners for lunch at The Bletchingley Arms. We were extremely impressed by the professional, organised, and friendly staff, in particular the supervisor Katie who made a real effort to make sure everything ran smoothly. Our learners had an amazing time. Highly recommend!

I booked a private area for my Mums 100th birthday and from first contact, to the end of the day itself, every member of staff we met were helpful, positive, flexible, and supportive. Communications were excellent. They went out of their way to make it easy, and a day to remember. On the day itself we had a dedicated person looking after us, and the bar staff were attentive too. The food was of a very high standard , with plenty to go round and catered for all tastes and veggie/vegan too - “carry out boxes” were offered to take away the surplus which was another thoughtful touch. The prices were very reasonable, especially given the quality and quantity supplied. The pub even gave Mum a lovely bouquet. The play area helped keep the grandchildren occupied and was definitely another plus for such an event The rest of the pub was busy (and with another party going on too) and the staff were fully occupied, but it all seemed to be unstressed & running like clockwork. We so are glad we chose the Bletchingley Arms (out of several other venues) as they were so willing and keen to have our custom. It was certainly the right choice and we would highly recommend to anyone for a drink, a meal or an event.

We decided to come here for a change instead of the 'Bell ... so glad we did. Roast Turkey for both of us absolutely delicious 😋 came with cauliflower cheese, stuffing, sausage wrapped in bacon, parsnips plus a separate dish of 5 different vegetables Fantastic 😋 great service from all the friendly staff, will definitely be back.

Stopped here for a late lunch on a sunny Friday afternoon and had heard good things about the food. We ordered two jacket potatoes with prawns and Marie Rose sauce - over £10 each; and what came out was utterly disgraceful! A Luke warm potato with on counting - 10 small prawns on each and an apologetic drizzle of sauce. I took them back and said they were less than acceptable to which the waitress did offer us a complimentary drink and said she would get them remade. Sadly what came back out was just as poor - perhaps a few more prawns but a dry luke warm potato - again awful but had to eat it as was so hungry. Will not be going here again!

Booked here for a birthday meal, and it had been booked for weeks. It was very very busy, good to see, but only one person was working behind the bar. This meant incredible delays with any drinks. Waited 30 minutes for a drink and, even then, had to wait at the bar for it! Seemed very understaffed or unorganized. Lots of children's birthday parties even though it was a Saturday night? felt a bit like a nursery at times. Very little choice for coeliacs - no fish or chicken options. Limited choices. Very disappointed. I'd ordered a birthday surprise dessert for my other half, but nothing turned up. Meals were ok, nothing to get excited about. When the children's parties ended about 9pm, it calmed down. And staff looked happy to be nearing the end of their shifts. Wouldn't rush to return and wouldn't recommend sadly.

My husband James and I had a wonderful lunch experience recently. We received a wonderful welcome from Helen and we were fortunate that we had the Snug and that Helen was serving us. It is cosy and feels like our own area. Helen is an expert on the menu and nothing is ever too much for her. I just had to share my views with your company. Helen helped us through the menu and is always on it as she knows I am lactose intolerant and not great with dairy. I like that their coleslaw is vegan and they also do a vegan tartare sauce. They replace normal cheese with a vegan alternative in some dishes and are very accommodating. Helen is very friendly, approachable and always puts us at ease. She is very caring and checks on us to see how our meals are. She is efficient and manages to stay professional at the same time such is her skills and ability to read situations. If anything is ever wrong which is rare she will go the extra mile so we leave feeling completely taken care of. Could you please make sure that Helen gets the praise she completely deserves, thank you so much Bletchingley Arms for having Helen on your team.

An amazing pub with something for everyone. Food is fantastic as is the service Lovely outside area for children and the outside pizza can and bars are a great addition

My friends and I decided to have lunch together for a catch up recently and we were being looked after by your team member Helen. I was so happy as I have been a few times before and I love the food. My friends live nearer to Croydon but love to get out of the area from time to time. They love the food and because of Helen’s amazing service they will definitely be returning. Helen is very friendly, professional and knows the menu really well. She is also very good at helping with suggestions if we are stuck for choice. I also love how approachable she is and nothing is too much. We can order and relax knowing that we are being taking care of. Helen is a real credit to your company and I cannot praise her enough. We will be back as soon as we can once the holidays are over. Thank you so much Helen, you possess all the qualities and more of a team member.

Had a table for 3 for Sunday lunch, my wife had the beef Sunday roast which was excellently presented, and cooked to perfection. My brother had the chicken and leek pie, again superb in presentation and very tasty. I had the sirloin steak, and I have to say it was the best steak I’ve had for very long time, the ambience, seating and decor made for a very comfortable experience, and our waiter looked after us perfectly. We will definitely be back!

This pub consistently delivers exceptional food, with a varied menu that satisfies every palate. We've enjoyed numerous meals there, each time relishing the delicious dishes and top-notch service. Worst food I have ever had in a pub ordered sharing platter for £18.99 ribs cikd and watery garlic bread no garlic no flavour in anything very disappointing 😑

I should have known better - the first thing Gordon Ramsey often does on Hell's Kitchen is to slash the menu - and when you see one as big as The Bletchinley Arms then that's the warning sign. It does a lot but from our one experience it does none of it very well. The chicken was dry, the zuchini in batter dripping in oil, etc. It's OK if you want fairly cheap and cheerful, but if you want good food there are much better alternatives

Visited the Bletchingley Arms for a birthday dinner and was not disappointed. The staff were very friendly and attentive and the place had a nice atmosphere. The food was delicious- everyone cleared their plates! I had the chicken, ham and leek pie which I would highly recommended, it was delicious. The meat was good quality, no nasty bits of gristle or fat and the sauce was so tasty. The vegetables were cooked perfectly, not a hint of overcooking. I would definitely recommend this pub and will absolutely be back! The birthday boy had a lovely evening and thoroughly enjoyed his dinner - thank you!

We were taking the family out for an 80th lunch. We contacted The Bletchingley Arms to confirm they could accommodate easy access for elderly people with walking disabilities. They catered really well - access was a flat service with a small ramp. Staff were very friendly and helpful. It's a big menu with dietary needs catered for. Even messaging the pub on the day to ask for a birthday candle in the birthday guest's dessert was catered for. Our guests had a lovely lunch. All four meals were well cooked. Very impressed, would recommend and return.

Nice food but some portions were smallish especially vegetables. Interestingly when the vegan curry was served the waiter said, 'who's the children's curry for?'!! One of our party did ask if it was possible to have more but was told that any additional vegetables would have to be paid for. The view of our party was that portions should be at least equivalent to two of the recommended five portions per day. Overall we expected more vegetables for the price paid.

This is a lovely pub until they put all the electronic dart boards up taking away a nice big seating area for customers. Our recent visit was very disappointing the service was poor to say the least. The young man working did not come over and ask us what we wanted and I had to twice go to the bar and ask for someone to take our food and drinks order. Once we finished our meal again I had to go up and ask for the desert menu then had to ask again for someone to take this order. The young man working could be a manager thought it was beyond him to take our order and just stood by the till talking with a colleague. After ordering one desert we waited over 35 minutes for it because with this place your order goes at the bottom of the queue even if the previous order has 10 or 12 meals on it, which is ridiculous and very annoying. So be prepared to be here a very long time if you want a 2 course meal. We will not be rushing back here due to the very slow service, rude staff and lack of seating, also the prices have increased a lot most meals are around £20 plus a 10% compulsory service charge is added making it very expensive.

A favorite place for our family. Attended 09/01/2024. Meal with my elderly parents. Staff were very helpful with finding a table that was accessible, without making a big issue of it. Service was prompt, without being rushed. The food was very good, as always, We'll definitely be back soon.

What a lovely pub. There were 25 of us for a family celebration and the food and service were brilliant. The food came out hot and was really tasty, including some homemade dishes. Nothing was too much at all. We all really enjoyed ourselves. Big thank you to Chloe, who served us and made everything seem so smooth. What a gorgeous pub, with an incredibly warm atmosphere, friendly staff and beautiful food. Highly recommend. We will definitely come back again. Should add a great menu - with a large vegetarian and vegan selection - really caters for all.

Terribly slow service. Having read so many positive reviews I chose this venue as a central point for a family lunch and had high expectations. Sadly our lunch didn't match these. Whilst the food on the whole was good, tho' the (not cheap) steak, chosen by one of the party, was tough and burnt; the main issue was everything took so long. The staff were pleasant but it seems that they were overwhelmed by the numbers that they were catering for. This was such a shame. Perhaps we just chose the wrong day but I feel I should flag up that a lunch here will be leisurely and not by choice. A missed opportunity.

My friends and I including small children attended for a festive lunch. Despite the pub being very busy the food was outstanding and the service was exemplary. I will definitely visit again.

We had pre-ordered as it was a Christmas get together for 8 people from different locations in Kent and Hampshire. The food was good, probably not excellent, but well served by a friendly attentive staff. I am sure we shall be back at The Bletchingley Arms again nest year!

We booked Bletchingley Arms as a group for Sunday lunch, and were lucky enough to eat in one of the pods outside. The pods had heating and fairy lights which was lovely! The food was amazing particularly the roast turkey, and service was friendly, especially Katie who was amazing. Will definitely be visiting again!

Had a lovely evening, despite the stormy weather. The whole evening felt very covid-safe, my family had a lovely little outside pod with heating, a long way from anyone else. The food was excellent as always, and Katie looked after us wonderfully. Would go back - and indeed are booked to return in July, possibly indoors by then!

Lovely food and lovely staff. Our server, Katie, was helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Fantastic new wooden pods outside, even with the torrential weather, were shielded and comfortable. They are a brilliant addition. Felt safe at all times. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be returning.

The food was great and the service was very friendly from Katie and Maria. The new covid guidelines were adhered to well but didn’t impact on the enjoyment of the meal. The ginger beer gin fizz is a must try and the toast dinner I had was enough to feed a family of four! My girls love the chicken and chorizo kebabs and the burgers are always good! We will be going back again soon but the outside dining does require some thought about warm clothing especially after sundown!

Great to be able to come back again. Slick operation with all safety angles covered. Food as nice as ever, great cheeseburger fries and onion rings. Well looked after by Katie who was as efficient and friendly as we remember her to be.

Second visit this week! Once on Saturday for my birthday and again last night for my friends birthday. On both evenings the service was excellent. Nothing is too much trouble. We had a booth on Saturday which was amazing & helped us keep warm & last night we were in the open area under their lovely canopy. The food is delicious with generous portions and all served covid safely. Special thank you to Katie for last nights service and for helping us celebrate our friends special birthday. The Bletchingley Arms has really stepped up to the mark re COVID restrictions. Super safe with sanitiser everywhere, everyone in masks and very aware of distance . Three of us sat under a hugh umbrella and were quite comfortable. We all wrapped up as the weather was cold but it was not a problem. The staff were as amazing as ever with Maria and her team buzzing about making sure everyone was happy and their meals ok. Although they are short staffed, and recruiting as we speak , we did not have to wait long. I had salmon in a caper sauce which was fabulous. I had creamed potato instead of roast and it was all cooked to perfection and arrived on HOT plates which a lot of places can't be bothered to do. For dessert we all had giant double chocolate chip cookies with coffee. The best cookie I have ever tasted. It was so good to be back and relax , enjoying good food, good company and good service. So good we are going back next week.

We had a lovely night out here last week. It was great to be able to meet with friends again after so long and The Bletchingley Arms has done all they can to accommodate outside eating and drinking during covid-times! We had a delicious meal and drinks and the service was excellent. A special mention goes to Katie who looked after us superbly and was so attentive. Would recommend for families, couples or just a general get together with friends as it caters for all.

Hi, Usually I love this pub its normally great. But we had dinner there last night and I have to say the service was beyond shocking. Just a few examples of the night. We arrive and the person at the door says she's just getting the table ready then after 10 minutes standing there finally got a table. We also then asked her for a high chair for my 1 year old nephew. After 25 minutes of sitting there ( we must have been invisible) someone finally asks if we want a drink so we order a drink and our food as we can't be arsed to wait an eternity again. And then AGAIN we ask can we have a high chair. Food arrives still no highchair so in the end I just went and got one as no one seemed to care in any way shape or form. Then once dinner is done we wanted pudding and after again about 30 minutes of sitting there finished with plates on our table as just like 2 other tables near us. Id was assuming they'd all gone home or something. Then a waitress asked if we wanted the bill. So we said no we want pudding. Then she left by the way all food and drink was done buy just left it all there and didn't ask if we wanted another drink. Pudding comes and there's still plates everywhere so the clean them up at the same time. Then as I'm eating a waitress is shoving a cashmachine over my head trying to get signal which was a joke BTW. Then after all is done we go to the bar to ask for the bill because we didn't want to wait till the next day to get asked. Then as we want to pay were waiting for another 15 minutes until we all just stood up and that finally got there attention. But all night was just a shambles. Just seemed to have all young waitors and waitresses that didn't seem to care about any sort of service which is a shame because it might put me off going back in the future. Food was nice though I will give them that but overall I would have rather stayed at home or gone somewhere else. Thanks

Myself and some friends went for dinner last week. The chicken pie was EPIC as was all the food we had. The puddings were also not a let down! Thanks to our waitress Katie who was attentive and made us feel at ease for the first night out in a long long time! We’ll be back very soon x

This was our first “girls” night out since lockdown. We had a fab time. Loved the beautifully decorated, covered outside area! Great food. Great service - special mention to our waitresses Katie who could not be more accommodating - she really look after us. Bonus - we didn’t know about fizz fridays. Great value for money!Looking forward to trying out a pod next time!

We visited the outside dining today for the first time since the lock down has been relaxed. Staff at the Bletchingley Arms are very well versed with covid safety regulations and we were very happy with the service. Katie was very pleasant , helpful and was very accommodating within the strict guidelines. Thank you Katie for our wonderful evening!

Fab meal for my son’s birthday. The outside seating area has lots of cover and is beautifully decorated. Thought we were going for standard pub grub but it was a cut above. Beautifully presented and very tasty. Specialmention to Lauren who served us with a smile as did all the team. Will def be back !

First night back since lockdown! 12 April 2021. Great to see it so well supported and managed. The new Pods and marquee are great! Table seating and service worked really well. Food good as always.

My family and I went to the Bletchingley Arms and had a fantastic meal today. It all looked beautiful outside with fairy lights and heated pods. The food was delicious and plentiful. We visited the Bletchingley Arms yesterday - outside cabin booked for 1pm. We had an amazing time in the heated booth served by the lovely Michelle and Maria. Great food, great service, highly recommended.

Absolutely cracking pub! Lovely service from our waitress Katie. We were in one of the heated outdoor huts which was lovely, very Christmassy (-: The food was great and the roast dinner was a very good size and absolutely delicious. The veggie roast option was very tasty too. All the rules and covid guidelines were observed by all staff but this did not detract from what was a really pleasant Sunday afternoon spent here. I will definitely be back!

We felt very safe here. Great attention to Covid regulations. Sat in a new, heated outside pod. Warm, covid safe and protected from rain although we did follow advice about wrapping up warm! Hot water bottle can also be purchased and filled for £5. Katie and Louise provided great service as well. Food was also amazing!

Saturday afternoon meal with friends outside in one of the ‘pods’. Clean, comfortable and warm with the heater on. Polite, attentive serving staff. Lovely hot, well presented, tasty meals. Would highly recommend. Thank you to all the staff, A great evening enjoyed by all!

Visited just after their re- opening. As professional as ever. As soon as we entered the building their covid compliance was evident from being invited to use the scanning app and completing the form to well signed information and compliance details.A welcoming greeting from the Manager and shown to our table, the nice little snug with the pullies by the window. Looked after by a lovely young lady called Katie who was cheerful and friendly and knew exactly the constraints that she had to work with, very efficient and made our evening enjoyable. The food was as good as ever served hot and in good time. Wishing them all the best of luck and our thanks during this difficult time.

Visited here with my boyfriend and his family for his birthday, during eat out to help out. The food was lovely and served up quickly considering the fact it was so busy. Cant really fault it, will definitley be eating here again in the near future.

A very enjoyable lunch with friends. The fish pie winning the popularity stakes. Added value with the Autumn Discount deal reducing the cost. A saving that will take us back in a couple of weeks. All the coved rules in place to make you feel safer.

The staff at the Bletchingley Arms really do "own" their customers, food quality, service etc. I would suggest they are the highest trained for many miles around. They really care, are personable and unhurried. Highly recommend.

Come here fairly regularly as service and food has always been good.Unfortunately, today was a real disappointment. Lovely staff, good service but the food left much to be desired. Fish was good but went cold very quickly. Chips were in varying degrees of raw to cooked. Peas were mostly hard. Tarragon sauce had a film over it leading me to suspect it was left near heat. Mayonnaise was tasteless.Meringue was ok but not worth recommending. Normally I would have said something there and then but the staff were sop sweet I hadn't the heart to upset them.

We had a lovely meal although I was a bit surprised when we got the bill , the cost of 1 pint of lemonade was £3.80 ! thats a nice little profit ! It doesn't exactly encourage people not to drink ! Apart from that we had a lovely evening and a lovely meal

Two of my friends and I visit this pub weekly. The food and the service is excellent every time. Yesterday the lovely Lauren looked after us with Maria also making sure us ladies had everything we need. It's quite refreshing to see the staff sanitising everything as people leave their tables. The toilets are immaculate .

Such wonderful staff. So caring, friendly and attentive in these difficult times. Superb food and service. Can’t wait to go back. A real find in these troubled days. Although breakfast isn't on the menu, the friendly staff at The Bletchingley Arms were more than happy off a full English on the off chance. When I am in the area again ill be sure to stop off for a future visit. Keep up the good work.

Table booked for 1.pm lunch, hot day so chose to sit inside, garden area quite busy, social distancing and sanitation precautions very good .Very good food, enjoyed the meal, looked after by Louise, who worked hard and was very attentive to ourselves and other customers throughout the lunch period,Definitely will visit again.

We enjoyed a lovely evening meal at The Bletchingley Arms last month. It was the first time I’d eaten at the pub since it changed hands (I worked here when it was The Plough) and it’s a very different proposition now. The outdoor heated “sheds” were a great way of being able to eat safely outside, and the service was very sensible too. I ordered the tiger prawn lollipops to start followed by the chicken burger, both of which were excellent. At £30 a head including drinks, it felt like very good value for money.

Lovely food all delivered promptly and with a smile. We were given a back room to ourselves, which was fabulous as we had 4 children aged from 2 months to 7 years! It was comfortable and, with all the Covid19 restrictions in place, also felt very safe. We would thoroughly recommend the Bletchingley Arms to other families.

Had lunch at The Bletchingley Arms. Fantastic food. Amazing coffee. Amy was excellent - friendly and professional. Great COVID precautions... felt relaxed and comfortable. Noticed the sheds outside - we will definitely be back!

Well organised, especially the way meals are placed on trays at the head of the tables. Food was amazing as usual. Excellent! Katie the waitress was extremely informative and extremely friendly. Would we come again? Absolutely

We booked for Sunday lunch at the Bletchingly Arms with some friends who were staying for the weekend, booking via the website was really easy. We were seated in our own area and drinks and food were brought out by Katy and other staff and placed on the table next to us for us to take from there so social distancing could be maintained. The food was great and they happily brought more gravy when requested, all our queries and requests were no trouble and the kids got some twisty wax things given to them to keep them occupied. All in all it was a lovely lunch out and the measures that are in place due to Covid generally seem good, only slight oddity was that social distancing is maintained from the table when bringing food and drink but the Staff station was positioned at the end of the table we were on and there wasn't a screen or anything between the staff station and the table so it seemed a bit weird to be maintaining distance one minute and then standing practically at the end of the table the next but we never felt uncomfortable even though the pub was busy.

I visited for lunch with my daughter and two of her friends.We sat in one of the “sheds” which was fabulous - the food was excellent, especially the choice available for coeliacs. Maria was extremely knowledgable about allergens and her customer service was amazing, so cheerful and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble! We will definitely return!

We Have been shielding and so to go for a meal was quite daunting, our experience was really good, I felt safe and as usual the staff and food were excellent, it was a comfortable feeling as all precautions were in place, definitely going back would always recommend as used a lot before lockdown good to see the Bletchingley Arms back

Came here for dinner last night and it was just amazing. Restaurant was very busy but that didn’t stop the staff smiling and given great service. My husband said it was the best meal out he has had in a long time and I totally agree. A massive thank you to Ollie and Emily for serving us and keeping me in good supply of wine. Definitely would recommend to anyone that is looking for a great place to eat and where the service is second to none.

We made use of the Eat Out, Ruth was very attentive and served us nicely even with the measures in place.

Really pleasant lunch, greeted by smiling staff, place packed, but still with social distance being in place, food very well cooked with prompt service, no long delays between courses. Our server was Amy, who we observed worked really hard around her whole section and was really attentive to everybody.Very enjoyable visit, will definitely visit again.

Elliott explained the system and was welcoming and pleasant. Lovely food and safe system. A pleasure to be out for a meal.

The food is amazing and the Customer service is brilliant, in fact one employee by the name of Lauren was amazing went above and beyond and was very polite and friendly also very helpful will definitely come back and recommend to friends and family.

We stopped by for some starters and sides on a Saturday, and the waitresses Emily and Daisy were very welcoming and attentive - whilst following social distancing guidelines. We really enjoyed the food and felt very safe! We’ll be returning soon!

This was my 2nd visit to the Bletchingley Arms and I wasn't disappointed. We was looked after brilliantly by Maria, nothing was too much trouble for her. Lovely food and drinks, we will definitely be going back for a 3rd visit.
