The Bell Pub in Shepway

Went for a spontaneous Sunday lunch here and was bitterly disappointed. Advertised as a carvery, our choice of chicken turned out to be no more than a chicken leg (with very little meat on it) and this was accompanied by the most watery, tasteless veg I’ve ever eaten (especially the carrot and swede mash - if that’s what it was). We didn’t stay for a pudding. If you’re after a carvery, do yourself a favour and go to a Toby. This meal was not worth the £15.95 price tag.

Came in on bank holiday weekend, and what can i say…. the vibes were amazing, wouldn’t choose to go anywhere else! Best pub around

Had an amazing roast dinner last Sunday veg was cooked perfectly and so was the meat staff were very attentive and helpful will defiantly be returning again in the near future

Popped in on sunday for a carvery, the staff were very attentive to my gluten free allergy! A massive thank you to the team for taking it so seriously and making sure i still had all the benefits of a carvery

Roast Chicken buffet lunch Service ok, no wine list Served a very small chicken leg, no breast available, so chose the roast beef which was ok. Everything else was a buffet. Roast potatoes were very squishy and lukewarm The rest of vegetables were watery and tasteless as was the gravy which was also lukewarm warm!! I’m sorry to say this but I Would definitely not recommend this restaurant

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Another order with Theo Bello, and once again, they exceeded my expectations! The dishes were as delicious as ever, bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. I had a special request for my order, and I was so impressed with how accommodating they were. They handled my request perfectly, adding a personal touch that made the experience even more enjoyable.

We were a party of 10+ and we were made to feel so welcome. Most of us had grill stones (cook your own steak) which were fantastic and the puddings, especially the cheesecake, were to die for! Really good service, good food and amazing beer garden. Would highly recommend

Waitress was lovely and helpful. Carvery was ok apart from the stale dry roast potatoes and could have been a bit hotter but no bad in all. However, when I told the landlady that the wine was corked she snapped back that they don’t sell corked wine, only screw top. Which is alarming to say the least. I tried to go on to say that I’m not complaining, but thought she should know (I saw another lady buy red wine after me) but she wasn’t interested in any conversation with me, just turned away and ignored me. I won’t be returning to put my money in the back pocket of a rude unprofessional who doesn’t even understand her profession. Too busy buttering up the local tab holder at the bar perving over her young waitresses. Not the place it used to be. Shame

waited after 10 mins past latest delivery (20:40) was informed it will arrive at 21:00 still not arrived contacted them told it was on its way then they phoned back 10 mins later to say they missed the order all together and offeres two canned drinks it arrive 1 hour past 21:40 food was great service was abysmal asked for some money back and was refused ... joke for customer service it will be a while if at all that we order form these ...worst part was it was our first time .. poor impression.

Garlic breads are the best from here, they're never over oily on taste or to pick up, perfect bread to oil mix! You have to be quick eating them as they cool very quickly though. Pasta dishes are loaded with taste.

Love coming here for a casual lunch, pop up there at least once a week. everyone is super friendly and the food is fantastic for the price!!!! :)

We went to The Bell today for the first time to try their Carvery. First impressions! The bar was full of people eating and chatting, it has a welcoming atmosphere. I approached a member of staff regarding our booking. They were friendly, courteous, took our drinks order, showed us to our table, and explained how their Carvey system worked. Good selection of meats, all were succulent and very tasty. The vegetables were cooked to perfection too. I personally really like mint sauce on my roast, regardless of the type of meat. I ask for it! Not a problem… they accommodated me and I had it within a few minutes. The sticky toffee pudding was top notch. In short! It was an extremely good carvery (Proper Sunday Dinner) we’ll definitely be going again! Big thumbs up to The Bell.

The Pub was very helpful when booking lunch for a party of 24 for a 18th Birthday celebration. Arranged 3 Tables of 8 with pre ordered food. The party consisted of 4 family groups and some friends, from various parts of the country. The hosting was fine and the food was what could be expected from a pub menu. The following day 9 of the party went down with diarrhoea and sickness, with the only common factor being the pub and not from one family group.

Lovely food. Not exceptionally hot on arrival but still fine.

Firstly the lamb was cooked to PERFECTION and just fell off the bone the only downside was that I only got 2 VERY small potatoes 1 carrot and a VERY small portion of rice with the meal and this is the ONLY reason why I'm not giving the full 5 stars

Really disappointing food! There was 2 of us and we both had the home made pies. My chicken and chorizo pie was lovely. My friend's beef and ale ok too. Both pies came with peas and broccli. I had mash and my friend had chips. The minute the food came out I could see it was not looking great! The broccli looked like it had been cooked days ago! It was grey! It was disgusting. However the worst bit was my friends chips. Who can mess up cooking chips? He had to send them back as they were inedible. He asked for mash instead and the lad serving us was lovely and aplogetic and informed us the chef had no mash left. So he went wirh new chips. Again they came out not cooked properly and the majority were raw. My food was served on a plate with a massive crack through the middle of it! What chef doesnt notice that when serving up? Won't be returning.

Come here last night had a terrific dinner can’t thank the staff enough the fish and chips look like they could feed the army will definitely be returning ☺️

The theme nights here are great come for the pie night had the homemade steak and Guinness pie with chips and veg will definitely be back again ☺️

First time ordering, best pizza I've found in ages. Delicious Italian. Only complaint is weird lemon twist on fries because I personally hate citrus but unfair to mark down on that!

Delivery driver never had change so said he would bring my £10 back as I paid £21 my bill was £10.60, not happy as I trusted the delivery driver, in fact I'm disgusted And the delivery was late!!! Bad delivery person will not use again

All the years I've ordered from here i never tried Stifado, i gambled this time as I'm fussy with red meat. Wow, the quality of the meat was immense! So tender and was like brisket. Lovely!

Food great but the delivery was late. But i guess that's what a Saturday evening is very busy for the place. They've been around long enough and demand is high.

Brilliant food and understanding

Food was terrible, staff were unwelcoming and the atmosphere dull. We arrived as 4 friends and were the only table there however the food was slow to arrive and when it did it was tasteless and the presentation bad. Would highly recommend not going there especially as there are some delightful, friendly pubs with great food in the same town

My family took me to a he bell for Sunday lunch today it’s actually a carvery and to was unbelievabley perfect we all cleared our plates the meat was cooked perfectly and everything was hot and full of flavour would definitely recommend The bell the service was great too and staff very attentive

Always our go to! Amazing food and amazing quality. Always incredible every time and always hot when it gets to us.

Very quick delivery, now the quality has been out as 2 star because opening the bag we was met my the worst mess because the foil trays was squashed, so sauce everywhere, so someone knows why they arrived so bashed up. The food itself was very nice.

Carvery Sunday Lunch We visited here in the first week of the carvery Sunday lunch. We could choose from 3 sizes of meal, small, regular and belly buster. There were 4 meat choices, roast potatoes, parsnips, stuffing, crackling, Yorkshire pudding, vegetables, gravy and sauces Food was plentiful and tasty, waitress service excellent. Definitely recommend, strongly advise booking to avoid disappointment We had no space form pudding - although they looked good. We will definitely be back

Very happy with the quality of the food, delivery time and service.

Absolutely fantastic food! Staff was polite and helpful very attentive to us all! Child friendly garden too so my little boy had a fantastic time while we enjoyed our food! Will definitely be returning with the great value too! Thank you to the waitress we had who was fantastic with our children!

Spanakopita lovely as always, although again could be better stacked as lower ones were a bit soggy. Chicken kotopulo was lovely, large portion as usual & did me for dinner at work the following day! Chips well seasoned. Keep up the good work!

The food was extremely greasy, sickly to be honest. Couldn’t eat it. Wouldn’t order again and wouldn’t recommend either!

The customer service I have experienced in this pub is excellent. All the staff are very accommodating and the facilities are second to none. Since new owners have taken over they have renovated the inside of the pub and offered great deals throughout the week. I would recommend a nice Guinness in this pub.

Due to post surgery and oven broken, I had food delivered which was delivered at time I requested . portion size was really good had small beef roast ,plenty for myself

No words can describe the evenings I’ve gone into this pub for the euro’s. The staff are all bubbly very friendly . Atmosphere has been electric from both customers and staff. The cleanliness is second to none with the little added extras in the ladies toilets. A lot of thought has gone into this pub. Food has been amazing. I cant recommend this pub enough . Thankyou for making my evenings so enjoyable.

Disappointingly very below average food for dinner. Nice pub, clean and well set out. Nice staff who were unfortunately let down by a vey 'mushy' and tasteless piece of cod and distinctly average chips. Another of our party had a pizza that was described as 'alright', the chicken and chorizo was described as 'embarrassing'. The coffee machine was not functioning, which cannot be helped but one would have thought there would be a back up coffee wherewithal. Surprising as last year we had a very good Sunday lunch here.

absolutely inedible pasta. more pepper than a peppercorn sauce yet not mention on menu of it being a pepper sauce. states mushroom onion and thick cream sauce. had to go into the bin. chips over cooked and hard.

All I can say is 10/10! We booked the garden out for private baby shower and it really was better than what we expected! The outside garden is just brilliant for a family function, the space is clean, tidy and the service from the staff was impeccable. The pub inside was generally very busy as they had a busy Sunday lunch service, nevertheless we weren’t forgotten about with endless waitresses coming to check on us to take drinks orders etc - unreal service and perfectly coordinated. We were a party of 40 and everyone commented on how amazing the venue was from staff to atmosphere to cleanliness. I have nothing but great things to say about this pub. Overall 10/10 for a private function - would absolutely recommend to all my friends and family! Thank you so much The Bell Team!

food was very nice and tasty and there was plenty of it, unfortunately the delivery was very delayed. I would order again because we all really enjoyed the food

We have used this pub a few times n the past but this is the first time with the new owners. Thought it was time to try it. Walked into the bar where a staff member was having a loud personal phone call. We had a wait for our order to be taken, another 3 mins and we were going to leave. The menu was reduced, especially the vegetarian choices. Ordered fish and chips and the duck. We were the only ones eating. After a wait of about 25 mins, I asked how much longer the food would be. A large group was arriving in dribs and drabs so I was glad we had ordered before them. I was told it was taking so long because the duck takes longer to cook, to get the skin crispy. I then saw food coming out that had been ordered before ours so was getting concerned. Another 10 mins then our meals came out. The fish was good, not sure it justified &14 and the duck with a very soggy skin. The staff were busy prepping for the evening as the whole pub was booked for a wedding party.

Favourite pub to go to. Amazing roast & amazing fish and chips. Well worth visiting. Complete asset to Hythe. Pub garden an absolute sun trap too which is a bonus!

Absolutely fuming! I have ordered with you for years! Never had a problem until tonight! Tracked the order said with driver, 25 mins later still no food, phoned up to be told its being packed for delivery, still waited another 20 mins! Order arrived, food cold

The delivery was supposed to be no later than 7pm, it arrived at 7:45pm over two hours after we placed the order. I rang twice and the man who answered the phone was rude telling me and I quote, 'what do you want to me to do about it, the longer I spend on the phone to you, the longer it will be before we deliver your food!' absolutely shocking. The food itself was excellent, the service was disgusting!

It's now 20:50 and still no food , we have phoned twice the take away and said food was still at the shop not the best customer services and not happy at the waiting time at all spent alot of money for it not to arrive ordered it at 7:04
