Came here for breakfast/lunch ordered nachos unfortunately a hair was found however the young gentleman who dealt with the issue done so with the upmost professionalism and was offered a free dessert

We had dinner here tonight and a mocktail each. Our food and drinks arrived quickly to our table and the man who served us was really polite and friendly. So sorry I didn't catch his name but he was quite young and we ate about 7pm if that helps. Food and drinks were delicious. Portions were generous. Really great chips and excellent price.

The staff are absolutely shocking no sence of awareness serving friends before guests that have queued. Especially the bar member with the long blonde hair. His attitude stinks. But what else would you expect from a weatherspoons

Don’t bother adding an extra topping to your jacket potato. Paid £1.30 for cheese that came as at most 10 grated slivers. - you could barely see it. Asked for extra yo be told we’d have to pay another £1.30. Ridiculous.

Always quick service, especially via the app. Staff are very friendly and always very helpful. I often come here with my son and they are aware I can’t leave him to get coffee etc and they offer to do this for me. Great value for money and I’m always impressed with the quality of the food, especially the pizzas.

What a legend Jamie was at the bar ! He calls him self the Ginger Mullet guy served us in seconds ! The quickest I’ve ever been served in weather spoons ! A credit to the brand ! If you see him wave and he will come running but by him a shot as a thank you !!

Came here on a Saturday morning about 11am. Fairly busy with about 3 tables free. Used the app and ordered a diet coke and a large breakfast. Coke came in about 5 minutes. Breakfast took around 30 minutes to come which was way longer than I expected. It was also cold and really poor. About a spoonful of beans. Hash browns were cold and tasteless. Will avoid as it was just a terrible breakfast and poor service all round.

We visited here for a quick meal after an evening at the cinema. It was really busy and only 2 tables to sit at. We ordered using the app and the service was good and quick. We ordered a jacket potato and a pizza, drinks and had a mini pudding each. The food was tasty and it wasn’t that expensive.

Ordered two cocktails: a Strawberry Daiquiri and Mojito. It took the bar assistant a very long time to find glasses and open two small tins of premixed cocktail, and then drop pieces of lime until finally managing to land one on the glass rim. These were the grimmest tasting cocktails we have ever experienced. We were'nt allowed to use the outside seating, so had to find a grotty, uncleared table inside. I can't describe how disappointing an affair this was, so will simply add a photo. Just horrible.

As titled a shame, I like Wetherspoons as a chain and was hoping for a nice drink and meal after a long day at work on a Sunday. Staff were friendly enough and helpful, That's certainly not in question. Bought hot drink, Machine wasn't working properly. Issues with Hot Chocolate has been a constant issue according to one member of staff. I'm sure Tim Martin can afford to replace a coffee machine. Food came out Luke warm except for beans that were stone cold. Prices go up and that's to be expected but standards have clearly gone down. 20 seconds in a microwave and it would have been a hot meal I would have settled for that. Poor experience sadly.

We love the Angel and we come often but I visited the Sir Daniels Wetherspoon in Swindon and noted how clean it was there. Then I came here and it’s very dirty in all honesty. Tables are not being cleaned. It could do with a really good deep clean especially the stairs and the toilets!!! I can’t fault the service always fab but please give the place a good clean it deserves it.

The food was terrible here I had fish and chips with baked beans that were ice cold and the fish was overcooked to a crisp chips cold to this must be a running this with spoons cooks at the moment I had the same thing at Camberley spoons. It's like straight from the fridge food absolutely wouldn't recommend either of these places . Its a shame I've had this meal so many times but recently both pubs must have untrained staff I have signed up to secret eater and will be posting more .

Eating alone is always a challenge when visiting Wetherspoons since after finding a vacant table, it is then necessary to leave it when going to the bar to place the order. Unless you leave belongings unattended on the table, it can be difficult to ensure no one else claims the table when you are away. However, my son gave felt it was time I was brought up to modern times and gave me his old iPhone. After downloading the app, I was able to go into the Angel, find the one last free table for two and place my order. Shortly after, my drink arrived soon followed by my main course, all without leaving my seat. I appreciate my review is coloured by this technology without any great staff interaction but it was such a joy to be able to visit at a busy time and not have to experience the 'seat lottery.' I had the light meal of jacket potato with roasted potatoes and it was very good and filling at a great price.

Called in for a glass of wine yesterday £2.20 for a Pinot. Can’t beat it! Nice pub situated close to the cinema. Clean and warm.

Crap service staff attendance to table non existent half the menu was not available but not notified about this either verbally or via the app and didn’t find out until the food arrived warm not hot and missing eggs which they substituted an extra sausage I paid around £8.00 for large brunch and what I got I would have been better off having a small one for around £6.00 just be on your guard when ordering and make sure you are going to what you ordered pathetic 2 stars Disgruntled Customer

The pub was reasonably busy when I visited mid-morning for breakfast and coffee. I was quickly served though and the food arrived shortly afterwards. It was very tasty too. I hope I'm always polite in a pub and I found the staff in The Angel to be polite and helpful. Looking at some of the earlier reviews here, it seems there may be some sort of anti-Wetherspoons campaign going on. This seems unfair. It would be most interesting if Wetherspoons could write reviews on some of their customers!

Place is filthy dirty, food scraps all over floors, tables dirty and uncleaned. Staff lacking in motivation and not up to level of service required. Food mediocre, curries not very good. Breakfast ok'ish. Nothing special here. I visited during Covid-19 and there was no social distancing, no cleaning of tables. Probably putting yourself at risk visiting this place.

Walked in and there was nowhere to wait to be served, I located a waitress and said are there any tables available, she said yeah you can sit anywhere, baring in mind all the tables were dirty and not yet cleaned, we waited about 10 mins before we left, no one came to clean our table and the hygiene was not at an acceptable level. Stopped at door for ID, unfortunately had forgotten it but wasn’t planning on drinking anyway. Was around 7 o’clock and under 18’s get kicked out at 9 anyway, but was turned away which I’m not to bothered about. But then one staff member at the door for a cigarette break sarcastically shouted bye bye. Honestly the most childish thing I’ve ever experienced. Then got called back, my girlfriend showed her ID but being 17 didn’t help our case but the whole time the female staff member was talking to the other security guard about us. Simply rude and obnoxious.

Totally ignored by serving staff who were more interested in the younger customers, waited a good 12-15 mins before walking out, to the smirks of the manageress(?)

It was a friday evening and it was fairly busy. But to see that there are only 3 bartenders to serve like a lot of people was fairly annoying. All I want to say is that they should have more staff as I probably waited a good 10 minutes for a drink. They should try and extend the place too, it is quite small compared to the others I have been too like Guildford. Basingstoke is a big town.

Basingstoke is a handy place for me to meet up with friends and this ‘Spoons is only a short walk from the station via Festival Place shopping centre (there is another further up in the old part of town). It’s always busy at lunchtime and can be difficult getting a table (much easier in summer as plenty of outside seating). Service at the bar is efficient and staff do a good job of clearing tables quickly. We enjoyed pizza and burger for lunch and no complaints there but the range of ales was lacking with only a couple of guests plus the usual Doombar/Abbot/IPA which is more or less generic at all ‘Spoons. The coffee machine area was buzzing with flies which is probably no surprise as it was all a bit grotty. Toilets were being painted when I visited but in all honesty the place could do with a complete refurb.

Thought we would go for breakfast. Never again. My hubby ordered while I used the toilet. No toilet paper in nearly all the toilets. Sanitary bins overflowing. Absolutely stinking and disgusting. Massive Health issue. Complained to a waitress. She said they would sort it.

Typical wetherspoons however more pricy for spirits to the other one at the top of the town! Used app for table service but would have been quicker getting drink at bar. Had a steak on a Sunday and was very nice.

Despite the name of the place, there is nothing angelic at this eatery. Actually, it’s more of a drinkery and probably much safer that way. The grilled chicken was rubberlike at best and after two bites that could barely be chewed it wasn’t worth the risk. The burger dressing was a few thin slices of wilted lettuce. It’s very cheap, but you still won’t get your money’s worth. On the positive side, the location by the Vue is good and there is outdoor seating, but for that just step over to the park around the corner.

I usually like the traditional breakfast in a Wetherspoons but this mornings order was just about edible. I think a lot of the items had been under the heat lamps for a bit too long. Disappointing.

This is the worst Wetherspoons that I have visited, and makes me appreciate our local unit more, being asked how you would like your steak cooked would warrant some attempt, but medium rare here came as well done, the food had obviously been cooked and left standing before being served cold, no mustard available, and no enquiry as to your satisfaction. Certainly not up to standard.

We travel about quite a lot and often eat at Wetherspoons all over the country and greatly admire their brand and general standards and great value prices. Staff at this Basingstoke branch were polite and friendly. Drinks were great but our meals we found slightly below the normal standards. The mash in my Bangers and mash was very dry and tasteless and my wife said her gammon & chips were also below par. Maybe just an off day!

Arrived quite early we thought about 8.50am but place already buzzing and nearly full. Breakfast was as delicious as ever, the bread they use here is just lovely. Our go to breakfast place.

Myself and friends meet here for breakfast once a week and always enjoy a good laugh over a nice breakie and a coffee or two. The staff are always helpful. I have a friend with CP which means she's in her own scooter and the staff often help me get her through the doors. It's a popular place, so it does get busy. You get a lot of regulars too, as they feel its a nice atmosphere. I've downloaded the Weatherspoons app on my phone, which makes it easier for our table, as some people i meet up with have certain disabilities

In my opinion this spoons has the best quality beers in Basingstoke,the punk IPA is a steal at £3.50, and the American pale ale "shipyard" is great value at £2.50, never seen any trouble in the pub although we tend to go early evening before it gets too busy, I know everyone won't agree with me but i love the fact the whole chain of wetherspoons try and source products from the UK and has stopped buying many products from European Union,

Met with friends at 12pm on a weekday and it was busy. Got a table within a couple of minutes though. Service at the bar was slow so we chose to use the app. Table service was quick and with a smile and a bad dose of BO. Food was hot and fresh and of a good portion size. Refillable tea, perfect.

No clean tables upon arrival. Ordered via the app a bacon Brie and cranberry panini to be told there’s no bacon? (So why advertise it on the app) and would I like to replace it with something else. I asked what else they had and they said “American cheese”. Who eats American cheese with Brie? Following this I had to wait 40 minutes for my panini. Asked servers where my food was and no one could give me an answer. It came and was vile, never got my refund for my bacon that they’d promised. Won’t be returning

I go here once a week for breakfast. I've never had a problem but have seen others complain about food coming out cold. Its a good breakfast for the price to be honest. Its a busy pub and you sometimes have trouble getting a table but that's because it's popular. The staff are very friendly

On arrival there was no clean tables, they were all full with peoples left overs! I was with a family of 5.

We went for breakfast a couple of weeks ago and they forgot a couple of items from my plate and had to wait a while to get it sorted. Thought we would give in another go. We went on Sunday sat down the table either side of us were empty. Other people came and sat next to us and there food arrived 1st. When ours came my wife's small breakfast was dried up and the eggs were solid. Sent it back and they forgot about it again. By the time her breakfast arrived i had long since finished mine. Crap food and crap service. Nobody cares about customer service. Will never eat there again.

Purtroppo scrivo questa recensione perché ogni volta che vengo in questo wederspun mi viene il voltastomaco se devo usare la toilette , l'odore di sporco si sente fin dalle scale e se entri spero solo di fare in fretta dallodore indecente capisco ci passi tanta gente ma basterebbe pulirli più spesso , infine il personale che sbadigli davanti a te mentre ti serve la birra Almeno la mano davanti alla bocca!!!! Lo insegnano di solito ai bambini piccoli ! Infine se osservi i bicchieri sulla scanso e guardi contro luce vedi poté polvere e ragnatele che dire mi sa che non tornerò più e andrò altrove dove c' più pulizia!

Went for lunch with my parents and boyfriend before going to the theatre. After ordering the food took so long to come (over half an hour) that we ended up leaving before it arrived. They were apologetic and gave a refund but we still ended up annoyed and hungry. Tables were cramped and it was very noisy. The toilets were dirty and there was no toilet roll in any of the ladies toilets. Spoons is normally reliable, quick service and value for money - this was definitely the worst Spoons I've been to and I will not be going back.

Why oh why do you run out of ice so often. Try not putting so much in the drinks in the first place and it will last longer. I see it every time glasses on tables with lots of unwanted ice. Rant over.

Great customer service and good food would recommend. They do whatever to make sure you enjoy your meal.

The Angel has been getting steadily dirtier and dirtier . The tables/menus/bar/floor are sticky. When we went in today, the whole place stunk of sick. It badly needs refurbishing and at the very least a deep clean. It’s becoming an uncomfortable place to sit in and outweighing the benefit of the cheap food and drink. Give it a miss.

I have had occasion to visit this place twice recently to kill time while I was waiting for something.

This used to be one of the best bars in Basingstoke. In the last 12 months it has gone badly off the rails. There are too few staff on busy nights, and they've been known to run out of fish on a Friday, steaks on a Tuesday, chicken on a Wednesday, etc. The lavatories are a shambles. Two nights ago the floor of the gents was soaked in urine and soggy toilet paper, and one of the cubicles had been fouled. I brought this to the attention of the shift manager, who just shrugged and said he would see what he could do. We waited 35 minutes for our main course, which was cold when it arrived at our table. The waitresses response to our complaint? 'Sorry about that'. We didn't see her again. So a memo to the Area Manager: Get down to Festival Place and make this Angel fly again, then we might all start going back.

This Wetherspoons Pub was always a reliable place to come too be it for food or just a drink, with freindly staff and efficient service, that was about a year ago, move ahead a year, it seems as if the staff have just lost interest as a whole, not sure if it is a change in managment but something needs to be done. I have recently visited both Wetherspoons in Basingstoke. My first visit was to The Angel for breakfast with my wife. I orderdered our meals, and when I asked to have mine without egg. Which I am allergic to, was offered to have something else. I asked for black pudding instead of egg, was told in no uncertain manner that was not an option. I presume this was because you had to pay to have it added to your meal. The young girls attitude was at best short. Do Wetherspoons train their staff in how to deal with customers or was she having a bad day? My next visit was tonight to the Maidenhead Arms at the top of town. I had only called in because my local pub had run out of beer due to the World Cup. I orderdered my drink and went outside for a smoke. Returned and stood at the the bar which I have done for over 30 years and was told by a very surly barmaid that I could not drink at the bar. When I questioned her about the reason why, was told in a very churlish manner it was Head office that said you can't. I could understand if it was busy and was asked in a polite manner, the same way your staff expect me as a customer to be polite towards them
