Has to be the worst supermarket in Basingstoke. So far this year, overcharged on roll back prices with full price several times over several weeks. Overcharged with their buy 2 for the price of 3 scam and got charged full price for all 3 items. Staff on customer service desk aware of this for over a week and nothing done. Purchased a couple of items, 1 of them a canned goods just over 4 months out of date. Not the first time I've seen out of date produce on display. The last 3 weeks on the trot, absolutely rotten veg on display. Complained to head office...not interested. Apparently the manager says there are no issues so nothing to pursue. Asda as a supposed supermarket is a local disgrace and they wonder why their market share is dropping. Did I mention the lack of staffed checkouts at busy times...

Was super excited to see that the pizza counter was actually open for once! Only to then discover that they seem to employ a grumpy troll behind the counter. It was a surprise birthday party for my daughter, that part was clear as the four girls were wearing matching BFF Tshirts. The girls were very polite, especially as the server was huffing and puffing the whole way through the order, trying to rush them because she wanted to go home, she kept mumbling this. Any time another customer asked for pizza she would sigh and say in a loud voice that it was completely impossible as she HAD to do a last minute HUGE order. Got home and she also got pizzas wrong! Cheers love for adding gloom to our special day.

Something very wrong is going on here. This shop has gone badly down hill over the last 6 months or so. Stock is awful, place is always a mess, staff are nowhere to be found. And they try and force you to use these useless self service tills. Honestly go elsewhere now which is a shame

Went in to get sausages today, noticed that porky whites sausages had a use by date of 2nd of September and it’s the 4th of September today, showed it to a member of staff there, who was reducing the price of meat, who didn’t actually care about it, in my opinion that’s disgraceful behaviour

Good store and helpful staff but new fridges are a nightmare for people like me in wheelchairs or mobility scooters I gashed my leg badly on one of the doors a while back also to much product waiting to be shelved left on huge trolleys making it impossible for me to get down some aisles.

Avoid this shop unless I need something urgently. Went in for my weekly shop as I needed lots of kitchenware only to end up with a till that kept resetting the card reader. Was told this was a known issue for 4 of the self scans. I was told to go to customer services to pay. Waited 10 minutes for attention. Not great when you have a trolley of frozen goods and are on crutches.

Shopping here feels so stressful due to how rude, cold and dismissive most of the staff are. They seem so miserable to be there. I have witnessed so many staff being so cold and dismissive to friendly customers just looking for assistance. You'd be best off going to Aldi down the road. This place is appalling.

Used to shop here regularly but very rarely go now due to very poor availability. Thought I'd give them a try this evening and walked out with one item from my list of 8. Won't be bothering to return. Update 7th August 2024. Popped in here today on the off chance things had improved. Availability was better than last time although the bar was set pretty low! However, I was absolutely disgusted to see not one single manned checkout open. There were 2 poor old ladies looking hopelessly bewildered about what to do as they had obviously never used the self scan before. The 2 girls managing the self scan areas were lovely but rushed off their feet and really struggling to keep up with the endless problems the checkouts provide. I put through my shopping (not a great experience as the scales told me on 3 occasions that to remove what I'd just put in my bag (even though they'd been scanned) and this seemed to be a pretty common occurance around me. As I was leaving, I saw the 2 old ladies had abandoned both of their trollies and had left with nothing. Hardly a great result for them or for Asda!

Shopping in this store is becoming very frustrating. The shelves are always empty of almost everything. The new fridges are not user friendly quite often you have to wait for people to move before you can pick up what you need. Shopping for the basics is difficult milk, bread, meat selection is poor. I feel the shelves should be stocked overnight to allow people to do there shopping without having to dodge cages in the aisles. The self checkout area is poorly manned, and when they are the staff are not always aware that you are waiting for assistance. I visited the store early Saturday morning and the shelves were already empty. Please sort this store out! take more pride in the way it looks. Frustrated shopper.

Went to buy a redbull not long ago and got asked for ID while in uniform as i was on my break and work just next to asda (which the staff clearly knew as mostly all of them come into where i work), I am quite visibly not under 16 and was in full uniform then got told they would not give it to my without ID as this was their “policy”. Then went to buy a vape not long ago from the other till did not get id at all and also bought redbull not long ago and was not id again. Seems like half the staff don’t have a clue what they’re doing and half do.

Asda Basingstoke just gets worse. Apart from empty shelves and empty or full cages blocking the aisles, I now find that it looks like they're no longer going to stock their Free From range. Unless they are, again, repackaging. I am very disappointed, their vegetarian and vegan ranges are increasing but they still include gluten/wheat. What about those who have dietary needs. Not sure if this is a local problem or national. Whichever, they need to get their act together.

What an appalling way to treat customers. When most right thinking companies are phading out these ridiculous and intrusive self scanners, Asda has stores with only these infernal machines in operation. I am not a Luddite, I embrace technology. When it works and is no causing inconvenience. Tonight at Brighton Hill, there were no tills open. Many customers with pre Christmas shopping had to go through the self serve. Supported by your poor beleaguered staff. The machines were doing the usual thing of stopping to wait for a staff member to fix the error. This is a disgrace, there is no consideration for people who require assistance, either physically or mentally. My partner suffers greatly from anxiety, and after 10 minutes of messing around, we managed to scan one item. We spoke to a lovely member of staff who advised they were short staffed and could not open a till. We decided to leave. The end result being you lost over £100, and your poor staff had extra work putting our shopping back. I can only assume that the genius who thinks these are a good idea has never done a proper day's work in their life. Every little helps my eye. Anyway, there are shops that really do care for their customers and staff, so will be taking our custom there.

Very BAD experience! Rude lady Manager with Tattoos all over, that were blaming the Customers and didn’t know how to use the voucher system and telling us that the system is not accepting the Black Friday vouchers! Her incompetence and the stuff there really pushed us away. Luckily we knew our rights and we did guess that need to separate our shopping in 2 transactions, so in order to use the reward vouchers there. At the End all worked as should be and was not the clients or the system fault, but rather was the rude customer service and the incompetence, blaming us that the vouchers being used previously, when they saw, that was the fist time using them!!! Bad experience overall!!

Stock levels were low in most areas, which makes for an incomplete shop. Every single week the prices are increasing for the same items how can we budget for this? Security doors are constantly alarming. This has to be resolved. This is known to be issues with the gates at check out, not signalling you passed them once payment was made. One security guard is particularly unpleasant and rude, assuming everyone is suspicious, which I guess is his job? Managers supervisors and check out ladies and gents are always pretty good it isn't easy multi-tasking the way they have to, and they are treated horrid. Sometimes, this isn't acceptable. I don't think it helps with no tills ever being manned anymore and we all have to do this job for the store, it is the way things are now I guess.

I went to the small counter at the front of the store, staffed by 2 young people I presumed were newly employed. I asked the young lady if she was serving as she didn't appear to be. She said "Yes but I wish I wasn't!! I asked for a book of 2nd class stamps so she turned to ask the young man colleague where they were. Good experience visiting ASDA, lots of options and good deals, but we need to be careful of buying more than what we want as this big place with lot of things can get us to buy more. Good offers on fruits, rice and seems much lesser prices compared all other superstores in UK at least that I visited. Pretty busy as expected and convenient for people taking bus as it just at the entrance. The onions in particular this week are a VERY sorry sight and it's not the first time they've been like this. If they're not mouldy on the outside, I get home to find them rotten on the inside! Dear Asda Basingstoke. Tonight I will not be able to have my brothers delightfully prepared food with a smile on my face. Tonight I will sit and eat my BBQ in disappointment. Tonight I will sit and wonder WHY ASDA? WHY HAVE YOU BETRAYED MY EVER SO (occasional) LOYAL SHOPPING WITH YOU. Now Asda Basingstoke, you may be wondering why I blame you for my dismay! WHY?!? So ever loyal customer of ours you ask.. My brother came into your store earlier.. and came out with a few essentials.. one of these being mayonnaise, to come home and find it’s out of date ( OH THE HORROR) My forward thinking brother decided to return to your store and ask to exchange the nearly 2 month out of date mayonnaise, as potato salad was meant to be on the cards for tonight and he didn’t want to let us down! After approaching the Customer service desk and expressing his issue he was then ACCUSED!!! Of returning an out of date one and keeping the new one, and swiftly refused the £1.50 worth of mayonnaise EXCHANGE. Now come on Asda Basingstoke, your whole shelf had not been rotated therefore the majority there was out of stock, yet you continued to insinuate my brother was a liar. So there it is. This is why I blame you, Asda Basingstoke. Yours sincerely, Devastated Mayonnaise Lover.

Went here for breakfast, first the lady said that they were running behind as they had a busy morning, we didn’t mind waiting as they were low on ingredients, however she then said it would be fine - the portion size was not even suitable for a 7 year old. The amount of grease was unbearable to the point I didn’t even bother with mine, everything was undercooked and anemic looking, was not even worth the cheap price tag. I understand it’s cheap ingredients but the service and execution was sloppy. The lady serving us was rude and didn’t even say hello back when I did - it all seemed like everything we asked for was too much hassle.
