we were here for our 31st Anniversary, the ambiance is pleasant and the food delicious Very good service quick and thoughtful

Loved the food, life long vegetarian and thought I’d seen the depth and breadth of what there was to offer but meal was genuinely delicious and out of my expectations. The service as well was amazing, the gentleman who seated us and served us at the end was beyond belief. Couldn’t have thanked him enough or been more amazed at the level of service we received. Would definitely love to come back ASAP!

A great place for those vegetarians who like imaginatively cooked meals made from fresh ingredients. I took a friend here on my birthday, she is an omnivore, but was blown away by the choice of great dishes on offer

I came here for Valentine’s Day and I have not stopped thinking about it since. Beautiful and intimate atmosphere, even though it was busy. We had the Valentine’s set menu for 2 and it was out of this world, three courses all so beautifully displayed and full of so many different flavours. I’ve never dined with a set menu so I was very excited to see what it would be like, my partner too is a little apprehensive with new foods so it was a food adventure for us both. I’ve never been to a restaurant where the waiter has to explain the intricacies of what’s on the plate when it arrives! The food just left us speechless, it was too good to be true. As a vegan diner, I’m used to only having three options to pick from, so it was amazing to have so much eccentric food to dig into - as well as a long vegan wine list; I find it so hard to find a certified vegan red wine, let alone a tasty one! All the staff were so attentive; they brought our next plates the moment we finished ours and asked us if we wanted refills when they noticed our glasses were empty - we didn’t have to usher them over once. Each one who served us was so lovely, but I only got the name of one - a lovely chap called Dirk! He was so great in helping me navigate the extensive menu and gave wonderful recommendations, he had a generally wonderful bubbly energy and was very funny too. Thank you Dirk!! I am already so excited to go back, but I feel like this night was so special and sacred that I’m going to have to do my best to keep away… for at least a week or two. This place is perfect for a vegan, romantic, fine-dining experience, and I’ll remember it always.

I have been several times to Terre a Terre and have never been disappointed. I love the subtlety of flavours and quirky menu. It is the best vegetarian food I have ever tasted and the ingredients are locally produced.

Pretty good food, and I certainly enjoyed my meal, but honestly the food is not as "fine dining" standard as the prices would suggest. Cocktails were great though. Service excellent.

Even by Terre À Terre's high standards, the meal we had was exceptional. New dishes added to the menu regularly, with amazing combinations of flavours. Truly a gastronomic nirvana!

I was looking for a restaurant to have lunch that was vegan, and by searching on google we’ve discovered Terre à Terre which it is vegetarian and vegan and decided to give it a try. We had no ideia about what to choose because the description on the menu was a bit complex with lots of names that we never heard of, due to that we’ve decided to ask for advice from the staff. We were advised to try the tapas which they described as really good, they also mentioned if we decided to go for that it would be a good ideia to order a portion of chips to complement it. I was a bit unsure of what to expect and wondering why should I have a side of chips that costs £6.95 when I was going to have a dish that costs £23.95 per person that can only be ordered in multiples of 2. I’ve never paid that much for a dish that would make me feel the need to have an extra side as a complement. The person who served our food, explained in detail what we would be eating and advised us on which foods we should have first and explain why. Some was really good and some not so much, some of the flavours doesn’t seem to go well together, I felt overwhelmed with too many flavours in one dish only, sometimes minus is more and in this case I wish more of some items and none of others. I should never go for a shared platter because, from my experience almost always I feel I’m paying too much for what I’m getting and the mixed of flavours is too much. We couldn’t finish the chips because it’s not a good combination of a variety of Japanese flavours and then some chips in between, it’s not a good suggestion and I wish it hasn’t been advised to us. I ended up feeling that I’ve paid way too much for what I ate, and to make it worse I’ve developed strong pain in my stomach about 20 minutes after I’ve finished eating. I had my lunch at about 2.30pm, is now almost 8pm and I haven’t been able to eat anything else as I’m still in pain and agony. I don’t think the pain has been caused by the quality of the food at all, which it was good and very fresh, but I believe it’s from the huge amount of strong flavours mixed together which entered my stomach like a bomb and ruined the rest of my day. We ended up paying almost £60 for 1 coke, 1 shared tapas and 1 portion of chips, no starters, no desserts and I had tap water. I’m certainly not returning.

Followed a recommendation here and it was a great suggestion. The share plate gives you a taste of things but not enough to satisfy. Is it pricey for veg? Probably not for the skill behind it. Tasty down to each ingredient.

Went for a pre Christmas afternoon tea and I was not disappointed. Went for the vegan afternoon tea, with a pot of Assam, while my wife anjoyed hers with a glass of prosecco. The tea came in two sections, the first was a huge savoury plate with the tatsiest bao bun I've ever had. The little polenta cake, divided opinion, I loved it, but my wife didn't. The seaweed crackers and pickled veg were a hit and etremely tasty. When the second section came our minds were blown. This was the sweet course and they were, just the tastiest, eclectic and best sweets ever. I know vegan food has come a long way recently, but this experience took vegan food to a whole new level! Just to say the waitress deserves a special mention; she was amazing. Not pushy, there when you needed her, attentive,but quiet and unassuming. Sorry I didn't catch her name, but please thank her for me.

Where to start ,looking through places to try on Brighton and wanted something different...so we picked a vegetarian restaurant. Great reviews and they were spot on ....the great ones that is . Booked for a Friday night and greeted by friendly staff ,menu explained and had great service and great advice over menu . Different flavours and combinations in all our courses exceptional choices and was not disappointed. Fantastic flavours in all courses, little heavy on the chilli but not a problem. The depth of flavours in the mushroom jus was brilliant but a tad too much sauce around my rosti for my liking. All in all a wonderful experience. Thxs to all the staff

The staff are very professional and provided an elevated level of service. But sadly the food was underwhelming, maybe it’s just not to our palate. My dish was very beige and I got a bit bored with it, my husband’s pea purée bland and his rosti more like mashed potato. The vodka martini however was very good along with the Yorkshire bottled beer served here.

We’ve been meaning to visit for some time and did not disappoint. We were running late unfortunately, and the venue was incredibly relaxed about us having to rebook twice which was really appreciated. The venue itself has a lovely ambience and warm and inviting feel. The service was excellent, and the food was really quite incredible

Completely new experience for us - and was intrigued by the recommendations to try this a la carte Vegetarian & Vegan restaurant. Very busy dining area and therefore very warm (get that air-conditioning on). Service was ok, 40 min wait between Starter (both were delicious) and Main - but it was very busy and yet the ' Better Batter' was worth the wait. Very expensive wine selection - with a carafe of Sauvingnon Blanc over £30! This is a little steep. Food was flavoursome and interesting and well-presented - would recommend the 'Better Batter' which is their take on Fish & Chips with buttermilk soaked Halloumi in fish shop Batter. REALLY delicious. The bill came to over £95 for Starter, Main and Carafe. The cost doesn't tally with the slightly informal ambience. Would recommend- but be prepared to take a hit on the wallet.

I've been here 4 times now and it's been an excellent experience every time. It's certainly not a cheap option but you definitely get what you pay for. The food is perfect and plenty of thought has gone into creating every dish. Honestly it's my favourite restaurant in Brighton and if I had the money to I'd eat there a lot more often! Also shout out to Dirk. He's been our waiter 3 times now and he's nothing but a joy. He's been there since forever ago and it shows. He knows the menu and the restaurant like the back of his hand. When I realised he was our waiter again last night it was truly a delight. I'd highly recommend Teree à Terre to anyone willing to pay that little extra for a treat night.

This was a double celebration. My 50th and graduation. We booked here for 8pm. Arrived to find a lovely warm and welcoming atmosphere. We are both vegan and firstly was overjoyed by the choice on the menu. So much so that my husband could not decide. Our fabulous waiter Archie pointed him to a fantastic choice. It did not fail to disappoint and neither did mine. The mains were amazing- just loved not having to be lumped with a vegan burger (which is the usual vegan choice) . I couldn’t fit pudding in - but we shared one and it had a lovely message of happy birthday on. And despite my not being able to fit it in, I did have a few spoonfuls- glad I did as it was absolutely delicious. Overall, the service, the food, the atmosphere makes this such a great place to visit. Would not hesitate to return next time we are in the area. Our thanks to Archie - who was never overbearing but there when was needed.

I was quite disappointed this visit. We have been going here for years and have never had issues with the food. However it seems somehow the food quality has dipped, perhaps new chef(s). The wait staff were just as wonderful as always and we have only good things to say about everything but the food unfortunately. I order the Rosti pretty much every time so I was shocked at the lack of seasoning, undercooked poached egg and the smallest amount of cheese I've ever had.

My wife and I visited when we took our son to university, we had the tapas, chips and wine which was great value, we also had some cocktails & deserts. Food and service was fantastic on that occasion. We recently visited again a month later, as we walked past we saw a great deal in the window and had both of our offspring in tow, as well as the dog (it’s dog friendly restaurant) so thought we would go again. When we were ready to order, we were told the offer didn’t apply on Saturdays, although this wasn’t mentioned in the window. Felt a little disappointed as it’s not a cheap dinner and the offer is what encouraged us to book again. Service wasn’t as attentive as the first time, but it was Saturday and a lot busier, so this is to be expected. 3 of us had the we are the champignons dish, which was the most expensive on the menu, it was nice but in terms of size was nothing like as substantial as the battered haloumi dish our son had. We would have had desert but at another £40 odd for four of us, we didn’t bother as the deal in the window would have included this and I couldn’t get over it 😂 If we were staying over I probably would have had it along with some drinks as the desserts are fantastic. Overall it’s a great place to eat, every dish is thought through and there are some very nice touches like the vodka soaked tomatoes. I’m not a veggie, but would recommend anyone visiting Brighton to go there, especially when the deals including wine are on. I would probably have continued to go here on every visit to our son, but felt a little tricked by the special in the window as it didn’t specify that the this didn’t apply on Saturdays, so I’ll try something else next time. Fully understand that Saturdays is the money making day, I would probably review that for early sittings, and make it clear when deals apply. Definitely try the tapas if your in Brighton, lovely place, would have been 5 star for the first visit.

Really pleased with this find! Went with a friend, neither of us are vegetarian but we did not miss meat products at all. All of the flavours were excellent and it was really nice to see such creative vegetarian options. The staff were great with explaining dishes and helpful when we asked if something could be left out of a dish. We shared the tapas style plate for one as a (big!) starter which was the absolute star of the show and a very fun option! We then shared a mushroom rosti main and a chocolate and mandarin dessert. Honestly one of the best restaurants we have eaten at and we would both consider ourselves foodies!

Brighton's no1 vegetarian/ vegan restaurant is well worth a visit. Super tasty food and all washed down with cocktails.

Absolutely fabulous food for vegetarians, vegans and carnivores also will love the food. Food that I would not make at home and well though out set menus. Really unusual combos that work. Have been three times as a couple, with friends and family.

Whilst not a vegetarian, I have always enjoyed going to vegetarian restaurants. This was no exception - the food was fabulous. My starter, Arepas Mojo, was just divine, as was my friend's, who had Benny and the Courgettes. I had the Fancy Nancy for main, which was excellent, and my friend had the Better Batter. Whilst her dish was lovely, it was probably the wrong choice after the starter which also contained battered elements. The only reason I am giving it 4 stars instead of 5, is because it was extremely noisy. There were two tables for 8 or more close to us who seemed to be shouting all evening. I know people are entitled to enjoy themselves, and I have no issue with that, but maybe seating couples together in another part of the restaurant might be worth looking at. The only other 'minor' thing was that our mains came out far too quickly. We didn't really have time to settle after the starters - you need 10 to 15 minutes I'd say, not 2 or 3. I will definitely eat here again though, the food was just fab.

We had eaten at Terre a Terre 4 times before and were really looking forward to another meal. The food was exceptional but we were waiting 20 to 30 minutes for our main courses. When they eventually arrived, having asked the waitress twice, one of them had been under a heat lamp for far too long and was spoiled. When our waitress asked how our meals were, and we expressed our disappointment with one of the dishes, she immediately summoned the manager who deducted the cost of both main courses from the bill. We were disappointed that our meal wasn't as we expected but we were very gratified by the way the restaurant dealt with the problem. The other main course was perfect and the starters were delicious. Thank you for dealing with the issue so well. We look forward to returning.

We came for dinner to celebrate a birthday, it was a busy Saturday night, superstar Dirk had lots of tables to look after and did an amazing job. He took time to talk to everyone, we never felt rushed be kept our drinks topped up...

Brilliant vegan food iinspired by fusion of cultures and true innovation. Food was exquisite from starters, mains and desserts. Their special menu was a powerful vegan roast with a rich and dark gravy which tasted a bit like mushroom and miso, but that is only a guess! The waiter was most helpful in gently directing us to this wonderful special. From the main menu we have a taster platter and each dish was amazing. Definitely going back.

The small plates menu to share (terre a tapas) was excellent. However their sautéed spinach side was tasteless and watery. The Rosti Revisted was undercooked and soggy. Unbearably noisy on a Saturday night, so avoid it if you are looking for a relaxing evening out. Had to wait nearly an hour for food to arrive which ultimately was really not worth waiting for, restaurant living on its past aura,

Food was 5 - super delicious, really quite special - on the expensive side but the quality is just about worth it. Service was good - our table staff were great and I would’ve given 5 but for the fairly long wait between ordering and receiving the first course, and then the very long wait between the first and second (main) course. I appreciate it was a busy Saturday evening, but we arrived early (6pm) and got our orders in pretty quickly and then watched the place fill up. You’d never think that it’s such a big restaurant by looking at the store front. Anyway, overall a very high 4, would’ve been a 5 but for the long waits for the food. On another day, this could’ve been an overall 5.

I went to the restaurant looking at other reviews, however, after waiting for an hour they only managed to deliver starters. I have to leave without mains. I entered the restaurant at 8:15 and they gave me the table. I ordered the food and they only managed to provide me with the starter at 8:50. At 9:15 I said that it has been an hour and to my surprise manager was rude to blame it on weather. They told me that even other table are waiting and kitchen is slow (but should have told me when I ordered). Manager said that I only waited for 20 min after starters were delivered, but I entered the restaurant at 8:15 and left at 9:35. I guess enough time to go to market, do the groceries and serve food :P They offered me to pack my mains and that amused me. They can’t serve me but can pack my food. They kept claiming food is ready, I am not sure why it was never came to table! I have provided many reviews and I try and avoid to put down a bad rating for any one. But given a terrible experience I had and the behaviour of manager (who managed to spoil my Brighton trip) I have to put this one here. They have managed to earn 1 star from me, which is rare.

Went with my daughters..one vegan..one dairy..egg..nut..allergies.. They were so excited and happy to have so much choice of food..in a restaurant that they could enjoy..brilliant quality too.. For me I was absolutely satisfied with the customer service..I had an old billing issue from pre covid..which they resolved immediately and with good grace.. Outstanding experience.

Wonderful food, a warm and relaxed vibe and one of the most fantastic hosts I’ve ever encountered in (I hope I’m spelling this right!) Dirk, who was looking after us that evening. He was so genuine and kind that it felt like we were with an old friend, and he gave the same generosity of spirit to every table I saw him with. Without being intrusive or interrupting our evening he absolutely went above and beyond to make our time at terre a terre feel special, from extra little off cuts of watermelon I adored from one of our dishes, to a surprise congratulations at the end of our dinner, to recommendations of where to go for a cocktail afterwards. Food was bloody great too!

We will always love Terre a Terre - the food is delicious and the staff a lovely but the decor is looking a little tired and the menu needs updating. However, that won't stop us going back or recommending it to you 😊

I don't dine out fancy so this was a new experience for me. Food was lovely although I wasn't a fan of my main course but that was only due to personal taste rather than bad cooking! Staff were fabulous and enthusiastic and I loved how they could tell you about the wine in a split second!

It’s always nice finding a dedicated vegetarian restaurant. It’s obvious a lot of thought has gone into their meals, I had the battered Halloumi and chips. My only real complaint is that for £20 I’d would have liked a few more chips, stacking them up just leads one to count how few were offered, left a little hungry as a result I’m afraid.

Fantastic food and drink. It's always the best in town.
