Sushi Nara in Guildford

Cant really comment much on service as we had next to no interaction with staff. Other than to tell us to order on the app. Food however is sublime. Some of the best sushi I've ever eaten. The other appetizers are equally as good.

Bought variety of sushi for takeaway. Nigiri, maki, house specials. Fish was a bit dry and not very fresh. Rice overcooked. The sushi from Sainsbury's sushi counter is better quality.

Delicious Japanese food, however be aware of limited parking nearby.

This place is where you scan a QR code to order on the menu which doesn’t always work very well, but don’t make that put you off from it. The food is brilliantly done, including the sushi with eel which I reordered.

It's about my 3rd or 4th time visiting but the food never misses!! Amazing flavours and quality for the price and great service :) Friendly staff always. I will be back again 🫶 Got a Chicken Bulgogi for the first time which was so flavourful. Really enjoyed the Wednesday Ladies Roll and the Veg Tempura along with Mochi Icecream (Matcha one was my fave)

App ordering is the standard but you can order via staff too. The cooked food and sushi are both superb, and always high quality. This is my most attended restaurant over the last 5 years, and hasn't disappointed once.

Had a take away today for 4 of us and sushi is very nice and fresh , service was good too. We live locally so we will come back for sure

We went for lunch on a Saturday with our baby. Very nice sushi - good selection, I was not disappointed with anything and they made alterations for my baby. Also decent amount to eat for my vegetarian husband. Very polite staff, clean restaurant and appropriately priced. I would love to come again. I think this is slightly hidden and a real gem.

Great atmosphere and tentative staff. Quick service. Love the qr code and ordering online. Really easy to navigate and the total bill, able to add to order as you go, then pay the end. The soft shell crab was delicious. Would recommend.

A fantastic sushi place in Guildford! The food was great, there was plenty of selection, and the ordering process was very easy! I would very happily come again, although be prepared for Guildford prices as the sushi is a little pricey but I think it's worth it!

Sushi Nara serve a wide range of sushi dishes as well as hot food based on Japanese and Korean cuisines. Reliably great quality. Excellent service. Subdued but very pleasant atmosphere. Often serving many Asian customers.

The place has more a feel of a café rather than a restaurant, but without doubt the food was exceptional. Menu offer mainly Japanese food, with a few nods to Korea as well. All ordering is done via the QR Code and it gets delivered as and when it is prepared. We ended up ordering a range of dishes from across the menu including delicate Prawn Gyoza, a super-fresh Sashimi Set, a Dragon Roll, Tuna and Avocado Ura-Maki and a Prawn Katsu all accompanied by a fiery kimchi. There was a good selection of Korean and Japanese beers as well This was more than enough for 2 hungry people, and could not fault any of the dishes presented. Overall, a great place for a quick bite to eat.

High quality sushi, but slightly high in price level.

My family and I (11 people)booked a restaurant around the corner but they made a mistake so we can’t get our reservation on time and that restaurant’s music is too loud(can’t even hear what the waiter is saying),not suitable for my small children and old family. Luckily we found Sushi Nara got enough seat for us. The food are very delicious and quick to serve. Staff are nice and supportive. Highly recommended and certainly would come again.

The food is superb, and the staff is wonderfully kind. I’ve been to Sushi Nara twice and will be coming back many times again.

Proper authentic Asian food in the heart of Guildford. Not fancy or overpriced, but homely and down to earth. The bibimbap is the best I've had for a while - served in a proper hot stone bowl - and the sushi and gyoza are excellent as well. One of my favourite places in Guildford to eat. One small thing I'd change and which I always like in Asian-owned restaurants is free or endless tea of some kind if you order a meal. I'm also not a fan of ordering via an app - you do have the option of ordering from a member of staff though. Part of the eating experience for me is the social aspect and also chatting to the serving staff for recommendations etc.

This restaurant is decent. I have only had the sushi as a main and it is very good with a variety of sushi. I really recommend the spicy prawns (i cant really remember the name) but it is a starter and honestly it is the best thing on the menu and it never disappoints. Personally, I do think sushi Nara is one of the best sushi restaurants around here since I usually come back here (especially on birthdays). Peace Out.

This is probably the best restaurant in Guildford. Authentic, tasty food, which is of excellent value. It is a very clean restaurant. The staff are very friendly and honest. I once misplaced my credit card, and I was very happy that the staff had found it and kept it safe for me the next day.

Formerly an excellent restaurant. They used to be very attentive and even gave you something little after the meal to say thanks. The food is still great. But come on - you get charged for curry sauce and rice with your Katsu. £4 for the pleasure. From generous to miserly.

We're quite new to the Guildford area and were looking for somewhere to take our daughter for her birthday. We're so glad we found this place. It was outstanding in every way. Great, friendly service and great food at a reasonable price. The sashimi was a very high quality. Tempura prawns were the best I've ever had. Can't wait to go again.

Finding half-decent sushi, other than anywhere in Japan or in North American coastal cities, is pot luck, so it was a surprise to chance upon some in, of all places, Guildford! And why not? If Guildford was a good enough place to feature in a TEFL text, surely it must be an exemplary tourist destination? No, the town probably ended up in one of its English lessons because the text's author was from the area and felt confident they could include a map of the city to accompany the standard phrase for nascent English speakers, "Can you direct me to the train station please?" so students could be assured of being back at Waterloo Station where they were meant to catch a train to somewhere else. And maybe that is how this and other exotic eateries ended up in this unlikely town, foodie flotsam that could have prospered better in London with its higher footfall. If you crave sushi in deepest Surrey, venture beyond the train station before you shuffle off back to Bayswater. It ain't kaiseki, but its overflowing bento box won't break the bank either. And if you were in a class of future English teachers that I stood in front of twenty-five years ago in the college in Mỹ Tho, Vietnam, seeing me scratch my head as I asked aloud, "Why would anyone would include a lesson on how to get around Guildford?" forget it. It's worth a visit. And let me know if the score to West Side Story that I left behind for you to practise, spawned a string of musical theater schools or a passion for New York. Sorry Britain.

Good range of food served to your table piping hot. It's a bit price, and portions could be larger. Customer service is good, so give it a try.

And we order: Salmon + tuna sushi 🍣 (10pcs) 🌟🌟🌟 Salmon is very fresh and delicious, you can taste the quality of salmon is great. Tuna sushi is a bit not that good compared to salmon but still acceptable. Nara Roll 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Special roll with salmon and avocado with spicy mayonnaise sauce. Very tasty and delicious! This is our favourite one! They put the spicy sauce as a side so even you can’t handle spicy you can still enjoy it! Very nice😊 Crispy prawn roll with eel 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I love eel and if you are same I recommend you to try it! Really great 😊 Beef bibimbap 🌟🌟🌟🌟 The bibimbap is hot enough and with the spicy sauce added on it is just perfect for us! We share it together and everyone like it! Quite healthy choice they mix with different vegetables and egg. Very fulfilling. Chicken bulgogi 🌟🌟🌟 Pan fried chicken and vegetables with spicy sauce on. Not very spicy at all, quite delicious and we all like it! Squid bokum 🌟🌟🌟🌟 I think this one is quite similar to chicken bulgogi. Pan fried squid with vegetables with spicy sauce added on. Same sauce with chicken bulgogi. We like it and I think if you looking for some hot food to eat I would recommend this. Service is amazing all staffs are very helpful, friendly and you can see they are always put a smile on ☺️ the atmosphere is very chilling and relax. Recommend and definitely will come visit again!

This place is a hidden gem. Staff are wonderfully friendly, atmosphere delightful and food comes out freshly made and in a timely manner. I really appreciated the little details of the spy sauce pourer and chopstick holders and little bowls. I will definitely be coming back here to explore more of the menu

Absolutely fantastic food! Decent prices, friendly staff, fast service. Not a big fun of QR code orders (prefer menus) but here dialectic comes into play, if one wants fast service and decent prices QR code is clearly the way to go. However, they could improve WiFi service by implementing auto-connect once QR code is scanned!

My boyfriend and I were looking around Guildford around 9pm for food and luckily for us, Sushi Nara took us in (we ordered real quick and left the restaurant at 10!) and the service was marvellous - everyone was very friendly and even the owner were cracking jokes with us. The food - I have been here multiple times for the past few years and it's been a while since I have been - but after being back a few days ago, I remember why I loved this place. We had the kimchi pancake, which was crispy - just the way we like it! The chicken katsu was cooked to perfection, juicy and tender. My boyfriend had the udon chicken and the umami flavour dancing in our tongues! We had the mango mochi ice cream and matcha ice cream for dessert. The mango mochi was great, can never go wrong with it. The matcha ice cream was powerful, which we prefer but a bit too icy. Nonetheless, it was great! We will definitely come back to try more from the menu soon! Thank you!

Japanese and Korean food are available here. Nara Bento include sushi, sashimi, tempura and salad which is a good bargain.

Their foods were nice though they were not authentic. I have to emphasise the waiters and waitresses were nice. We don’t live in the town but will go back by car.

Super little sushi place. Underrated and quite hidden. Freshly made sushi is really good. Bit bland inside hence lower score for the atmosphere score.

My girlfriend took me here one day , I had never tried sushi before in my life and after trying this sushi I was blown away ! Best sushi out of everywhere I’ve been since , I could come here a million times over ! The staff are lovely and always remember us , I’m leaving Guildford soon but I’ll be sure to come back just for this place ! I’d give it 6 stars if I could !

Much as we were treated well, and the food was good, I don't see why people still mention 'service' when no one is really waiting tables? The more 'technology' restaurants succumb to, the less of a restaurant experience it will be,sadly. Convenience will eventually destroy this type of business.

This is probably the best Japanese (and Korean) food in Guildford. We like it so much that we went twice a week apart. Staff are very hospitable, not too long to wait for food, food tastes delicious and fresh. We'll probably go again soon. Best to book ahead as both times the place was very packed.

Well worth a visit….just push on through the wooden door tucked underneath TGI Friday. I tried the octopus Takoyaki….they came out boiling hot…let them sit for a couple of minutes to enjoy…very tasty. I also ordered a selection of sushi and sashimi which was all very good washed down with just sparkling water this time all for just under £40. They ask you to order through a QR code which was on the table…..it took a few attempts to get it to work because of signal strength and data transfer speed.

The Dragon Rolls were the best sushi I've ever had. The udon noodles are fresh and chewy. Quick friendly service, would definitely recommend.

Beautifully presented, amazing tasting sushi. My daughter had been talking about this restaurant so much that I thought I would try it. Not only is the food beautifully presented and yummy, you feel really well after eating it too. Can't believe I have not tried this before.

Great feel of a lovely, small Japanese eatery. Service impeccable and fast. Dishes were neat and delicious. Thankfully it was still using e-menus so ordering was at our leisure and a doddle. Would go again.

We waited outside for 10 mins only to be then told because we had a 2yr old with us there was no room for us as we would need a high chair. We told the assistant we didn't need one he would sit on my knee, she then just left us standing in the doorway. Untill we got fed up. The mum behind us got seated with her 2 children that were old enough not to need a high chair. If your staff can't make a decide find someone who can.

Went for a midweek lunch with hubby - very good fish, the mackerel and tuna were especially delicious and I wish I could make tempura batter out of this world like they do. Pricey but high quality.

Our favourite sushi place in Guildford. The portions are good size especially for the price and are beautifully decorated. Flavour is great and super friendly service.

Sashimi tasted fresh and the tempura was done in good quality. The scallops were sliced too thin though compared to a normal portion elsewhere. Deep fried pork in the bento was a tad too dry. Great customer service on the other hand. Overall the food is left to higher expectation when the price weighs in.
