Gets extremely busy at certain times which can negatively affect the atmosphere and service. Weekdays are better. If you catch it at a quiet time, it’s really a delightful place.

Stubbings is close by and always a safe bet. Parking outside and lovely conservative feel to the place. Always enjoy the atmosphere and great light. You order at the till and food delivered to your table. Simple, high quality food. We have quiche which was delicious. Great place to have late breakfast or lunch.

We had booked an afternoon tea for 4 adults, 2 babies and a toddler. The babies were too young to eat the delicious food but the two year old loved it! This was my second tea here and it was perfect. I especially loved the little avocado on toast with seeds. We will be back again, I do like an afternoon tea and in my opinion Stubbings provide the best in the area. The staff are really friendly and helpful. We couldn't possibly finish all the food so we took some home in boxes provided to us. A lovely, relaxed afternoon, great company, great food and pretty surroundings.

Disappointing lunch. Ordered the avocado with tomatoes on toasted sourdough. A soggy piece of sourdough arrived, certainly not toasted. It was topped with avocado and a tomato cut in half plus an awful lot of seeds. Not particularly tasty nor attractive and very overpriced at £10.65 compared to sandwiches which came with crisps and salad for £8.95. Won’t be back.

I took my 87 year old mum for lunch and really wanted to comment on the lack of consideration for people with poor mobility. My mum can’t walk very far and is partially sighted. The one way system they have adopted in the garden centre made it very difficult to get her in and out due to the lengthy walk needed which exits through the shop. Please consider this to allow those with walking disabilities to exit via the entrance. However, the food is always excellent and comes out quickly.

We haved lived in maidenhead for many years & regular users of you cafe. However our visit today will by my last. My wife ordered two breakfasts, one coffee and one cup of tea! She asked for an additional tea bag as I find one bag not enough for a pot( I usually bring one of my own,but forgot) when she returned from ordering told me she was charged £3.25 for the extra teabag, she didn't even mention the extra charge apon ordering! I was totally shocked. She queried this with the till assistant & the manager confirmed! If I had a coffee instead & asked for an extra shot I would have been charged around 80p I believe. Perfectly understandable or maybe £1 for an extra teabag! I can buy 80 decent organic teabags for £2.70!!! No doubt you will try to justify this £3.25 teabag! It's a shame that I will no longer be using Stubbings, as I do enjoy your breakfasts !!

Two recent visits for Brunch, on both occasions after less than half an hour my friend and I were asked to vacate our table as there were other people waiting to find a seat. This was particularly annoying as it was obvious that other people were not approached who were making a pot of tea last, or were using it as an office . We will assume that as two men spending a reasonable amount of money we were not welcome so will not be eating there again..

this is my first visit to stubbing's nursery/cafe, and my last, at first it looks very nice, grand even, when we got to the carpark there was a car park attendant in orange, waving his arms around, we didn't understand him when we wound down the window to speak to him he was rude to us, in a huff, tried to walk away, so we plicated him and asked where we could park, then we parked, it was very busy, the place was full of puddles so not easy to walk about, once in the 'nursery/garden centre, we went in the cafe, which had a lot of rules, but was much smaller then we thought, and the produce on show was expensive, so we decided ot go find the shop where they sold xmas things, well no staff about apart from a grumpy girl who avoided our gaze. so we asked another customer who also wasnt impressed but tol dus, we had to go around the entire shop to get out, it was like ikea, a polytunnel full of garden things , then xmas ''gifts' like a chicane, then finally we got out, and headed to our normal garden centre which of course was fine, the place is ramshcakle very amateurish and the staff need a training session on smiling and being welcoming,

I was a regular, used to go ever few weeks for breakfast after school run. No longer. Staff are lovely, service and food out quick, and really decent food. However getting out is beyond annoying. You are now made to walk the length of a huge poly tunnel FOUR TIMES!! Past EVERYTHING they SELL, before you can get out. Terrible if you have kids, have any difficulty walking or frankly just wanted to visit the cafe. I think the owners of the garden centre are desperate because they obviously don't care about customer experience. God knows how many laps the staff must have to do!! Great if you want a cafe and a garden centre though

We Love this place .. but sadly on this occasion I was really disappointed ☹️ we ordered, service was efficient and the staff polite and courteous. But I ordered a Children’s Sausage Sandwich which is almost £5 which I’m ok with but this arrived, absolutely no attention to detail or bother to even make it look like more than half a cut sandwich, not a crisp, bit of garnish or so much as a tomato .. was such a shame as my daughter had the Jacket Potato which was well garnished and presented.

I have been going for breakfast at Stubbings for years but it has been getting progressively worse over the last year or so. They have started putting dried herbs on the tomatoes and mushrooms🤢 No place on a fry up if you ask me. The sausages were ok but the bacon looked and tasted like it had been kept warm for a long time, cold beans, overcooked eggs, missing mushrooms and tomatoes (because I asked for no herbs so they just excluded them). I complained but just got a free coffee, not what I’d call fair compensation for a £12 breakfast.

My friend and I both had the ‘Pie of the day’ which was both lacking in meat and flavour. The staff and the service were good but sadly the quality of the food we were served let it down badly. Popped in here with friends for a coffee and a slice of something. The man behind the till was preoccupied and rude. My order began:'Can I have a cappuchino?''Table number?''I need a table number?''I can't do it without a table number.'I was put off by the man's terse, rude attitude. He didn't go into any further detail about how, for example, I choose a table and return to the till (out of sight of most of the tables, hence I was reluctant to 'reserve' a table by leaving things on it) without someone else taking the table that I had selected. As it happens, there is a system in place, but he decided not to tell me about that. When my coffee arrived, whilst drinking it I came upon something that shouldn't have been there. It might have been part of a milk bottle lid, but I'm not sure.Back at the man:'I found this in my coffee.''Table number?'No apology, no offer of anything, he took the coffee and a new one arrived shortly afterwards. No apology from the waitress either. All in all quite an unpleasant experience.

Portion sizes have shrunk to the point of being mean. The only thing that has gone up is the price. £9 for a tiny serving of quiche, a few salad leaves and horrible coleslaw made with 50% raw onion (yuk). £5 would have been too much.We used to be regulars but we shall be looking elsewhere from now on. Festive Afternoon Tea is just amazing! Stubbings Cafe is my new favourite place for afternoon tea, everything is so fresh and delicious: dainty sandwiches, generously sized warm fresh scones just out of the oven, crunchy on the outside and fluffy in the middle with plenty of cream and jam, then a variety of festive treats all home made and utterly fabulous, tea replenished on request, Christmas crackers to pull, and they'll give you a box to put leftovers in to take home if you can't eat it all (and you probably can't!) Popped in for breakfast on the way home. I live in London so used to high prices but was surprised at the prices charged at a garden centre cafe, even a higher end one. However, I looked forward to a nice breakfast in their lovely cafe. The eggs Benedict I ordered was lacklustre and for 7.99 I expected at least a large egg and a fresh muffin. The toasted muffin was tough and chewy so clearly not very fresh, the egg was poached well, the sauce was tasteless. The whole on a large plate without a hint of garnish or sprinkle of fresh parsley or chives. Lets be clear, we are talking about an egg, a bread roll, slice of ham and a spoonful of sauce which tasted as though it came from a jar. Its never a value for money dish! but I really like it, so I'll pay. A pounds worth of ingredients can taste fantastic, but in this case a fresh muffin is essential and a large egg.

Well off the beaten track, nestling inside a Garden Centre, this little gem of a restaurant has good food, good service, good prices and is set in a lovely conservatory style room with garden views, and with outdoor tables too. Parking is right outside, entrance is through the garden centre. The exit is a bit tortuous as they like you to go all the way through their retail area, which feels a bit like a polytunnel it is often so hot in there. The breakfasts there are excellent too - healthy low fat or the full English - both equally tasty. Don't tell your friends though - let's just keep it between ourselves ...

This is a regular place for a catch up for lunch and coffee with a friend. I would have given a 5 based on previous visits but since launch of breakfast menu, change of chef and staff lunch menu also changed,

Had a salad for lunch and found it was pricey compared to the portion size and taste. A little disappointed as I had only heard good reviews of stubbings cafe.

As I was staying in a nearby hotel I thought I would have breakfast here instead of the usual overpriced hotel breakfasts.

I stopped here with a colleague for a late breakfast on the way to a meeting. Beautifully layered out cafe that has inside & outside seating. Picked a table went to the counter to order. We had a caramel latte, tea and we both had eggs benedict it was very busy with mums & children, ladies lunching, older couples and men having breakfast meetings so clearly suits everyone. The coffee was lovely and the breakfast was amazing I watched other food coming out that also looked amazing so will definitely be going back to try many more dishes. Definitely worth a visit for breakfast or lunch.

This garden centre cafe breaks the mould with a bright contemporary dining area with views of the garden. The food was really good for cafe fair. I really enjoyed the fishcakes (made with smoked salmon) with poached eggs on top. Welsh rarebit was good as well as was the accompanying salad.. Service was a little slow but that;s because it is popular. There is even and outdoor dining area for dog lovers.

I normally like this place. We know when bank holidays are so why not plan accordingly. The system of queuing does not work. We took a reserve slip and placed it on a table. Apparently that is what you are supposed to do. Five minutes later the slip was removed, presumably by a member of staff. I asked her if she had moved it and she said ‘I can’t remember’. We then continued to queue for another 15/20 minutes and when we got to the front were told there would be a wait of 40 minutes, clearly unacceptable. Why on earth don’t the staff tell this to people who are queuing? Me and my daughter were there for our lunch break and didn’t have enough time so left.

We have just returned from a wonderful visit to the cafe at Stubbings Garden Centre and i just had to write a review praising the food, the comfortable, airy environment and most of all, the terrific staff. We were a family party of 12, who wanted somewhere relaxing to meet after attending our baby grandsons baptism in Maidenhead earlier this morning. We had been advised that Stubbings was the best place locally for such a gathering after the service, as family and friends had travelled from all over the country for the day. We wanted somewhere to relax, enjoy one another’s company and some delicious food and wine. Right from the moment i contacted the team there, they could not have been more welcoming. On arrival we were shown into a pretty conservatory, by Trudy, wh continued , together with her team, to ensure we had everything we needed. Marion, the manager, brought our wines, soft drinks, tea etc to our table, with lovely words of welcome. We stayed for ages, popping in and out to browse the shop and garden centre, and make various unusual purchases. The plants looked so healthy, and the range of locally produced groceries was very enticing. We all plan to return to do justice to the full range of garden accessories, and of course to revisit the cafe. So, a huge thanks to Marion and his team for making our special day even better.

Arrived at 11.55am and the only menus on our table were for breakfast - which finished at 12.00 (the same time as the lunch menu starts). I went to the counter at 12.01 (the time on their till) and asked three times (the question was posed three different ways - as I only wanted a light snack) if the breakfast menu was still valid and was consistently told that the lunch menu had started. The lady at the counter did not seek clarification from the kitchen, yet when I asked for a tuna sandwich, she did ask the chef. I accept that there has to be a cut-off time , but one minute? Also, not impressed with white strawberry milkshake - there was not much strawberry taste. My wife had the mushroom soup and sandwich and she did enjoy her meal.

Mother’s Day 2018 was the first day I came to Stubbings. My parents have always been regulars but I was shocked by the appalling service. I work in a cafe myself as a supervisor. Who ever running this team needs to reevaluate how they run things. I get that it was a busy day but staff need to be more organised. Some need to be serving, some clearing and some taking out food orders, not everyone doing everything. Also a 45 minute wait on food is not what you want to hear when you get to the counter. Coffee training needs to occur as staff were continually getting drinks wrong and a lot of complaints. Errors were made on my order meaning that till staff need to double check everyone’s order before completing the transaction.

The cafe is very pleasant but does get very crowded and consequently extremely noisy. The food is fine but not. a huge choice. Price is middling. Staff are very friendly and efficient.

We often go here for just coffee or breakfast/lunch. Its wonderful. Warm conservatory, lovely food, great staff and they sometimes do special events, like a Halloween walk or shakespeare in the gardens.

La Croisette situated within Daniel's department store. Family run restaurant serving great food all day, whether it's a fulfilling breakfast, scrummy lunch or just a coffee or tea break, call in & have a relaxing meal in a lovely store, you won't be disappointed!
