I attended this morning with my wife and young daughter for breakfast. I ordered a full English and it was probably one of the best tasting breakfasts I've had in a long time. The staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. The establishment itself felt warm, cosy and had a lovely atmosphere. I definitely rate this place as a must visit 10/10! Looking forward to my next visit. Thank you.

Very welcoming, great service. Cheese scone was awful, it was a sweet scone with cheese out on topped then melted. Cakes were lovely. Price is good.

Came in early this week for breakfast with my family and was dubious about what options would be available to my Mum and I as one of us are Vegetarian & the other Vegan! To our surprise they could not only cater to our dietary needs but had a breakfast for each of us on as a regular menu item! ☺️ Very inclusive, especially around Sandwich as not too many places offer this! Our food came out hot, tasted delicious and server's were accommodating & friendly. Will definitely be returning, and recommending to friends! Wished I'd snapped a photo but we couldn't resist digging straight in. Thank you Strand Street! 👏

We will definitely be back again next week. Well done !

My partner and I wanted a relaxing casual breakfast but this experience was nothing like it. The 'plant based' breakfast is what my partner ordered. We asked to order coffee when the food arrived. The wait for the food to arrive was unacceptably long, but, eventually, two plates arrived and we ordered coffee. When my partner looked at her plate she saw that the full meat breakfast had been served. She picked up the plate and gave it to the assistant. Had I not also returned my plate, I would have been left to eat my meal while my partner looked on and then the reverse would have happened once her food arrived. We had another wait and two plates came. In the meantime, we were told that the coffee was on the house and invited to order more when the food made its second appearance. When we came to pay, we found that the second coffee order had been charged for, so we were no better off. My partner's 'plant based' breakfast came with, by default it seems, butter. When challenged the server said that vegetarians eat butter. She could not understand that 'plant based' means no animal products. The logic is baffling since there is a one pound charge for an egg to supplement the p-b plate. S vegans don't eat hen products but do eat cow products. I used the WC as we arrived. The paper towel dispenser was empty. I mentioned this to staff. While we were wating for the second delivery, my partner used the WC. The dispenser was still empty. This was, again. reported, but there was still an absence of towels when the facility was used at the end of our visit. Shouldn't the WC be checked as part of the pre-opening routine? We gained the impression that the place was being run by a bunch of teenagers with no adult supervision.

This was a disappointing meal. Had the poached eggs with avocado- which would have been ok but were smothered with a garlicky chilli jam. Ok so the jam was in the menu but had expected it on the side so could be left. Disgusting stuff so decided on a piece of the coffee and walnut cake to take the taste away. It looked delicious with a butter icing filling between the slices. But this filling was just for outward show- once the cake was on the plate it was clear that the filling was only on the outside - not extending all through the slice. Walnuts on top but no icing there either so the whole thing was dry and difficult to eat. Pity. Coffee was good though.

I came here one day during the summer holidays for lunch and it was amazing! Firstly, the staff were so friendly and helpful, I had come by myself and they made me feel very welcome. The food was delicious and there was a huge choice on offer! I went for the chicken wrap, which was lovely & will definitely be back to try their other food options. At the end of my visit I decided to try one of their milkshakes and I’m so glad I did! :) The cafe is clean, has seats both inside and out (which was perfect in the warm weather) and has a family-friendly atmosphere. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend going there!

A cafe with kerb appeal. We sat in the garden with our dog. I have to start with a few negatives….my jacket potato with tuna & cheese was really cold. I know I could have mentioned this at the time but anyone could see from the solid non melting grated cheese that something was up. The potato was very very well done so I don’t think another blitz would have helped. Also, is it just me or should a panini always be toasted or pressed??? It didn’t say it would be but isn’t a tuna & cheese panini usually served hot? On a positive note the coffees were nice and the young lady that served us was very friendly.

My wife and I had 2 sandwiches 1 was bacon, brie and cranberry and the other was tuna mayo. We waited 10 mins to be served initially with a miserable waitress and our food took 35 minutes to arrive, my bacon was cold, the cheese tasted odd, the bread on the tuna sandwich was dry and old, we had orange juice and fanta and luckily they were both ok. It was dirty in there the tables and floors needed cleaning and people were having to wait a long time for food. I dont know how you got your 5* hygiene rating and follow Food Standard Agency Guidelines for storage and cleaning, cause this is not the case. We only use fresh, locally sourced ingredients where possible (not at all) and have a great reputation with many return customers - I doubt many return. Such a shame would defiantly not recommend.

I have never left a bad review before but feel that future customers should be aware. My wife and I visited yesterday, late Sunday afternoon and both had breakfasts. A few hours later we became extremely unwell with what we believe to be food poisoning. We had only eaten a banana all day so know it has got to be the food from this establishment. On returning from the toilet, the kitchen did look quite grubby and the food in the glass counter looked stale and I’m sure I could see mould on some of the food. There were two girls working who didn’t wear aprons and looked a little unkempt. One smelt of nicotine and the other who was very young indeed had a very negative attitude and obviously didn’t want to be there or like her job and was somewhat rude. We are still unwell and if we are no better by tomorrow, we will consider reporting this.

On a regular trip to see family I usually stop in at the strand street kitchen, I was especially excited as I’ve been made aware that it’s come under new management. Upon arrival I was given my usual warm welcome by the ladies. I was pleasantly surprised by some changes made to the menu as it hasn’t had much change over the years. I ordered a refreshing lemonade which came in a lovely decorated glass and our granddaughter ordered an ice coffee which she said was delicious (maybe even better than bigger chains). My food arrived in a timely fashion and the presentation was immaculate, our granddaughter ordered the halloumi dish which she was more than pleased with. Service and atmosphere amazing as usual they are always happy to help with anything from a napkin to directions. I am new to this reviewing business but this place definitely deserves it, we will all be back for more.

Recently treated my family to lunch at my local sweet little cafe in sandwich ,the food was lovely and the staff were fab, so polite and attentive, it's so refreshing to see the new generation thriving in small businesses these days, such lovely young women to speak to. I asked for extra sour dough toast to which the young lady happily obliged and brought to me a few mins later however, it wasn't needed as the portion size was perfect. My family and I found the food top quality and will be bringing them again, I often pop in for coffee which is always satisfying, very rich and punchy just what I need for a long family outing. I've given this cafe a 5 star rating only because it doesn't give the option of more.

MORE AT TripAdvisor

Having visited the strand street kitchen many times before, we thought that we would give it a try today ( Wednesday) being under new ownership. Unfortunately, it was a complete disappointment and was not near as good as it was before. I had a breakfast which was very greasy and some of it was totally inedible and the produce not as good as before. my friend had scrambled eggs on toast with smoked salmon and her portion size was very small and stingy and she only received one piece of toast, although it was sour dough, it was no where as good and she was still hungry. The coffee also was different and was not very nice at all and we didn’t drink it. The place seems to now be run by a load of youngsters and a dark haired girl was larking about with the boys in the kitchen. We could also see one of the boys smoking by the kitchen door and the kitchen didn’t look very clean, which really put us off. It really lacks the care and attention to detail that it had before and there was no manager or adult in sight which was such a shame as we would always be asked if everything was ok and often see the old owner. Instead we were not even asked how things were. Such a shame this place has gone down hill. It really was a lovely place to visit but do not think we will return.
