Coffee and food were excellent.

Lovely little cafe , friendly staff, nice atmosphere. But most importantly good food ( my roast was lovely and £12)

We have been a big fan of the sausage rolls at the Saturday market fir some time. But it was yesterday when we had some at the Kingsdown Castle fete we realised where they were made. First we had the pork and sage sausage rolls. As always perfecy, juicy and crispy. Then we shared coffee cake, made with their coffee sold in the cafe. Very nice indeed . Then the malteser cheesecake, rich but light too. Everything served while we were there look so good. We will be regulars now. Sian is the genious behind the counter and plans and bakes the cakes and other goods. She also gives out baking tips. Rob was her helper today and is such a fun person. In Deal it is a great place to go. There are also gluten free choices . And a big plus for us is dog friendly.

Awesome Breakfast Spot! Hog and Bean is such a great find! We stopped in for breakfast and loved everything about it. The coffee is amazing, and the cakes on display looked so tempting. No wonder it’s a favorite with the locals—the prices are super reasonable too. We had egg and soldiers and a bacon bap, and both were delicious. The vibe was really chill, and Rob and his team took great care of us. If you’re nearby, definitely check out Hog and Bean. You won’t regret it!

The street frontage immediately attracted me. I enjoyed a very tasty and excellent value vege stack here with an equally excellent coffee. The service was very welcoming and friendly. I found a gem of a cafe in Deal.

Delightful little cafe with an incredibly attentive owner who's more than happy to make recommendations or alterations if required. The mango and stilton sausage roll was excellent (it's a more subtle flavour than it sounds like) and the toasties are very generously filled. A great find.

Food was very tasty, portion size was good. Had 3x roast dinners, pork, Pork & Beef, Beef. Beef was lean and pork was moist and tasty included crackling. Veg was great, firm but cooked. Gravy was tasty however, one recommendation would be maybe to serve the gravy Seperate On take out orders? Yorkshire puddings were Seperate and very good. Happy with the meal. I arrived earlier than planned for collection but staff were accommodating and had it all ready within 5 mins. They sell coffee and cakes, as well as other meals. Some inside seating maybe enough for 30 covers.

Had Sunday lunch yesterday and it was absolutely delicious. Friendly staff. Lovely atmosphere too. Also the toilet is the cleanest I have ever used!

I went to Hog & Bean for scones and tea. As a huge fan of cream tea, I was a little disappointed. The scones were enormous, which was part of the problem. Large baked goods made with baking powder tend to be dry, and these were no exception. They were also served with what seemed more like whipped cream than clotted cream, which was another letdown. On the positive side, the staff was friendly, and the tea was very good.

Worth the visit the Hog and Bean for the Sunday Lunch, my wife had the homemade lasagna. So tasty.. value for money. Very friendly staff. Try it out. You will not be disappointed.

Ordered the croque madame and honestly have been raving about it since. I will go all out and say it was the best sandwich I've ever eaten. Really cheesy, excellent quality ham and the chilli jam made it even better. I was incredibly hungover that day and it sorted me out completely. Highly recommend.

An old favorite that’s gone down hill recently. Food used to be great but recently they’ve been serving vegetables that are definitely past their best and when you mention it they just say “ok”… A hint of a problem should be that no one is eating the vegetables…

Excellent coffee Really good sausage roll Good gluten free options and knowledgeable about coeliacs. Quite slow service, but the coffee made up for that.

Disappointing. Toasted sandwich for £10 comprised poor quality bread with a thin, sloppy filling.

I visited Hog & Bean few times already but I just would like to say big thank you to Rob, Josh and all staff for taking extra care of me and my friend with her little girl. Coffee shop was very busy and they still managed to help us to keep little one happy. I always recommend Hog and Been for very friendly and helpful service and delicious food. They get very busy but all staff makes you feel welcome and check on you regularly and make sure that you as a customer are happy. Thank you again, we will be definitely back!

Update.... Popped in for a delicious afternoon lunch Must say pork bap with dripping gravey was awesome and so was my partner's omelette. Crusted new roasted potatoes were excellent. Good traditional tea here and super coffee!! Would definitely revisit and highly recommended. Delightful cafe serving up some excellent coffee and cake. Also there's main meals available which I've not had the pleasure in trying yet. But I can recommend the toast banana bread, absolutely delicious with a perfectly made cappuccino. Staff pleasant, attentive and helpful. Highly recommended

Have been using this establishment for a while now and it's usually ok great coffee but today was the worst food we have ever had. The young man serving us was excellent but the food which in my case was a sausage and onion bap was nasty the sausages hadn't seen a pan or a grill the looked raw they had been microwaved so had no colour at all it was just wrong. It's a shame as we will never go there again .

Came across this restaurant by accident. Very welcoming and very busy both eat in and delivery. Haggis on a cooked breakfast was delicious, lovely quality ingredients. Coffee milk shake is a must try. Interesting menu a item's were delicious and very well presented. I'm definitely going back there. We bought cakes to take out, and they were lovely homemade, generous portions moist and fresh. They even roast their own coffee beans. What a find. We have visited today 14.01.2024. Had the Hog breakfast with haggis and sour dough bread toast. Just as good as the first time, we had cakes last time and they did not disappoint.

Very unhappy with the service yesterday morning. We thought we will try out the new place after going to wellingtons regularly. Firstly we waited over an hour for our food, yet people who were turning up 30 minutes after us were receiving their food. From here I had to ask a member of staff why ours is talking it’s time and they said “the oven isn’t working properly”, which to me is very concerning if they’re still going ahead with cooking food! Plus we wasn’t notified about this while we was waiting 1 hour. Finally we received our meal which was not too bad but definitely wasn’t worth the £30 after the poor service we had. After me and my girlfriend went to town and she was unwell which to me makes me wonder if the food was cooked properly after being told the oven wasn’t working! Not good at all. I would like to know if anyone else had this issue?

Didn't even know of those place til we stumbled upon it, I'm glad we did. The breakfast I had (whose name evades me) was truly delicious, consisting of the usual egg bacon and sausage, but also tattycake, black pudding and haggis, couple that with the really attentive staff working the day we visited are the reason we'll be back over the weekend

This is not for the dine-in restaurant but the Hog & Bean Box on Sandown Road, Deal. What a great wee takeaway! Great spot to have a coffee and bacon roll. Exceptionally friendly service too.

Lovely Jubbly the food was delicious. I ordered for my mum who is currently bed bound and myself. Roast beef and pork + veg makes a lovely change from roast chicken. The banana bread with butter and honey went down a treat most definitely will be ordering again.

Saw good reviews online so thought we would try this place for an all day breakfast at lunch time. It took a while for our food to come out but it was so worth the wait. The food was lovely. Also a coffee included in the breakfast which I expected to just be a standard coffee like most places but was given the option of a latte/cappuccino etc which was nice. There looked to be a gorgeous selection of cakes and I heard them saying they had home made trifle and apple crumble too. Will definitely be returning in the near future.

I have been to Hog & Bean a few times, great food and great service

This is a lovely little coffee shop, freshly ground speciality beans. Home baked cakes and savoury products. We had soup served with a warm cheese scone. Can't recommend the food high enough. Not our first visit, so consistent quality is obviously high on their menu. It's a must if you are in Deal wanting a little treat.

Super breakfast, with toast and a pot of tea. They have cakes to amaze you with coffee or tea. Makes for a super pit stop in Deal Kent. Happy to recommend as the service is really good also.

Great little cafe that roasts their own coffee beans every morning, run by a fellow Scot. I particularly love the Ugandan coffee from Mount Elgon and the Guatemalan coffee. Lots of home made cakes and scones. I had a delicious steak, Stilton cheese and sticky onion ciabatta for lunch, the steak was so tender. Lots of other choices for lunch.

Not my cup of tea, excuse the pun. Was going to eat but the trendy overpriced menu didn't match my taste buds or wallet and the sub-standard attempt at Boho put me off. Staff seemed to be mucking about and they lacked professionalism. Just had a coffee which was OK but would have spent more if the pricing menu and surroundings were less pretentious. I noticed a customer came in for a sausage roll and promptly left when the price was mentioned. I ended up in an email exchange with who I assume was the owner, following my initial review. Lou was seemingly looking for feedback but she simply justified and defended so I'm inclined to give 2 stars which was to be my initial rating but I was trying to be gentle. Ultimately I was disappointed with the cafe and then a pointless follow up which I felt was more like a passive-aggressive gesture rather than a genuine attempt to improve the customer experience. Looking back at the reviews I can see many customers are happy but I'm not alone in my view and noticed another review mentioned staff behaviour. I would feel too cringy about going back now especially after writing this lot!

Chilly with the door open and didn't realise there was a much warmer room through the back. Shame. Food was ok.

Went to the Hog and Bean for breakfast, not many veggie options, the ‘veggie hog’ contained meat substitutes which we were not too keen on, asked to swap them out for something in return however to do so we would be charged extra. The service was a bit abrupt and flat white was more like a latte. The food was a good size and was tasty and hot. Overall a very nice experience but would not return due to a lack of veggie options- no spinach, avocado, bubble and squeak or hash browns in the extras.

So glad we choose this lovely little eatery for our Sunday lunch. Our party had a varied selection of a tasty vegetable broth with a good cheesy scone, tuna mayo sandwich with salad, a dish of haggis/fried onion/roast potatoes, and a roast beef Sunday lunch swimming in gravy. All delicious and well prepared. Nice coffee too. Cakes looked delicious but we were too full to taste any sadly. Good, pleasant service.

Would not visit again…over 35 min for bubble and squeak which was a pile of mash potatoes and bacon cooked the previous day. Staff more interested in talking amongst themselves around the counter. Lady on next table sent back a toasted sandwich as the toast was burnt ..Terrible food and service

Lovely place, staff are amazing. Coffee is the best we have tasted. Food is delicious and large portions.So far we have had, ploughman's, Sunday roast (beautiful) and today, sausages, potatoes and mustard mayo and not forgetting the cakes!! Yummy!! And I'm dragging my sisters over Wednesday for more delights. A must visit for everyone.

First time ordering from the Hog and Bean and so we held no expectations as to what the quality of food would be. The delivery upon making our order was very fast and welcoming to see, however this was for not as we were left without our drinks being delivered (Tea and Coffee) We moved onto the food, of which was just seemingly dumped into a cardboard box with no care. The quality of food was moderate, but ultimately ruined as it was barely warm. What a shame.

Amazing eating place in a quiet street! The handmade giant sausage roll is very delicious! I've never had anything like this in my life. I would return to Deal only to have it once again :) Staff is friendly and helpful.

A really nice find in Deal, quirky, retro, comfortable all come to mind sitting in the Hog & Bean. We both had banoffee pie with a jug of cream and I had my usual Earl Grey tea, lovely. Nice staff too. Highly recommend 👍

Something just a little bit different

Over priced and kind of average. Actually I had quite a nice coffee and the staff were friendly enough but that is where the experience began to drop off. We sat in the rear setting area and next to our table was a hand written card promoting a must try iced latte; well it was a hot day and my wife ordered one. An iced latte though it was not I suspect that no coffee beans were harmed in its production... What came to the table was a sickly sweet concoction which we latter discovered came out of a slushy type machine. I ordered a sausage roll snack but it was not great. I could have gone for 2or 3 stars for this place I was on the fence but the price that they charge tipped me to go for 2 I think that if you are going to charge premium prices then you have to be held to a higher standard and be open to critsism if everything is not spot on... Sorry guys

They don’t allow dogs and very rudely made that known to us. We happily took our business down to The Lane instead, which is very dog friendly and has excellent food

Excellent service and cake from thehog and bean

Two take away roast dinners yesterday. One roast beef which apparently was gorgeous. Mine was with what was described as veggie bangers, and I was assured they were lovely. Inside the box were 3 yellow breadcrumbed look alike fish fingers..on investigating, they were filled with mashed potatoes, peas and carrots..revolting and left uneaten..no resemblance to a vegetarian sausage at all. Really disappointed and cheated out of what should have been as good a meal as the one offered to and enjoyed by my husband. Vegetarians aren’t stupid and know the difference between a vegetarian sausage and a vegetable finger !,,,

We had alovely cream tea this afternoon for Valentines day,we could not fault the amount, sandwiches were lovely beef was delicious,and so many cakes we got some for another day.Would go back again.our Daughter ordered for us.Thanks again.

£5 for two tasteless cups of cold (hot). chocolate served by people who clearly don’t want to be there. Do yourself a favour and don’t bother. Dreadful.

We chanced upon the Hog and Bean while exploring Deal and were delightfully surprised! We had two sausage rolls: the mango and Stilton one and a Christmas special and both were absolutely delicious, easily the best sausage rolls we’ve had for years. We also had a piece of Victoria sponge and that was very good too. Would highly recommend.

Love the porridge here, husband loves the fry ups. They grind their own coffee and it is divine. For lunch their sausage rolls are delicious. Yet to have supper there but hopefully soon. A great local sports in Deal.
