Delicious food, excellent service, a fabulous team at Store

We visited The Store at Stoke Mill for my wife's birthday and it didn't disappoint. The setting is intimate but not stuffy, with a handful of tables and the chefs cooking at the front. You get a real appreciation for the hard work when you can see the intricate details of the prep. The chefs brought the food to the table and introduced the dishes and ingredients, it's always good to be knowledgable and passionate about the food you're about to eat. All the food was absolutely incredible, we has the pescatarian menu and every bite was exceptional. The beauvale potato was extraordinarily good and the scallops were out of this world. Food is well worth the money and some. The service really was second to none. I would say it's the best service I've experienced anywhere around the world. All the staff were helpful and friendly without being overbearing. Glasses were never empty for long and the wine list was excellent. We even got an email the next day which referenced something we'd spoken about the night before, which was a very nice touch and something we really appreciated. We'll be coming back soon and I can't wait.

We often pop to this restaurant who offer a monthly Table D’ote menu which is good value and always excellent. The staff are so friendly and accommodating it’s a really pleasure to dine here. A great wine list well priced.

Visiting Norwich to take my Mother in law out for her birthday,we wanted something special,and it was definitely that. Sat in the bar area on arrival and had a very good glass of champagne as we perused the menu. Taken to our table by a lovely gentleman,after we had chosen our dishes. The most tasty little amuse bouches were served,and then hot fresh rolls and butter. We knew this was going to be good! Starters of scallops and soufflé were top knotch. Mains equally as good,beef was melt in the mouth,we did slightly miss that we should have ordered a side order of potato,but the waiter quickly made sure we got one. Desserts ( I don't normally eat these) were stunning. The seating is well placed,the wine wasn't extortionate and was good quality. All the staff were attentive and friendly,and the Birthday girl got an exquisite cake for her occasion. Top marks in all areas!!

We had a fantastic evening at Store last night. The food, wine pairings, ambience and staff were excellent. What was really enjoyable about the whole experience was the relaxed nature of it all. That’s not always the case with this level of exquisite dining. We highly recommend a visit to Store - you won’t be disappointed!

Stunning food, knowledgeable staff and very personal service. We had the tasting menu and wine pairing. The canape starters really were amazing! and most of the courses (9 in total) were delicious, a couple less so. We had 4 (very small) cheeses which are an extra cost (it was 3 for £12) and so were charged £6 for the extra one! I thought that was a bit harsh. However, food aside, I personally found the music too loud. It was really good (quite funky) house music but not for a celebration meal with my husband. Maybe we were too near the speakers, so perhaps ask to be seated further away if this might bother you. I also found it too dark, I did mention it to the staff but there are no table lights or candles. The dark, moody look is obviously deliberate but if like me you can't see well, you might struggle to read the menu even with your glasses on! I could also smell a really strong odour of Febreze, or it could have been fabric conditioner which was weird as so constant and distracting, especially when spending well over £300. It's a shame that these things took something away from the night, and they tend to be the things that stick in your mind.....and make me reluctant to recommend Store to anyone else which is a shame.

We have been coming to Stoke Mill for decades, ever since the early 80s when Stoke Mill wasn’t à la carte! The food is always exceptional, beautifully presented, it tastes phenomenal and always looks like a work of art, whatever course you are eating. There is always a lively buzz in the restaurant and you can guarantee you will always have a perfect evening out. We are fortunate enough to live locally so we can come monthly, and on our last visit it was such a pleasure to see our friend so impressed with her food as she has been vegetarian for a year and said she is not used to having the wow factor in taste and presentation with vegetarian meals. So a big well done to Stoke Mill. Also big thank you to Ludo for always looking after us, he even replied to an email when I wanted to take my mum for lunch and didn’t realise they were closed and on holiday abroad. That’s what I call customer care. There is an excellent choice on both the Du Jour and Al La Carte menu to please everyone. Well done to all for continuing with first class food and service year in and out. You really are the best and your cheese straws are heavenly!!

If you are looking for something special then this is the place to go. From the moment we walked in we were looked after. The food was amazing, beautifully presented and very tasty. The staff were excellent, very knowledgeable and attentive. We booked late and were lucky enough to get in, will definitely be heading back soon.

Once again a great set menu for lunch. Our friend has a gluten intolerance but on explaining to the waiting staff she received great alternatives and was very impressed that the butter for her was served separately from ours avoiding cross contamination. Intimate setting with very creative snd well presented tasting menu

We had the most incredible meal, food , service atmosphere the best it could possibly be. The Norfolk Dapple Soufflé was to die for, the halibut cooked to perfection. Everyone on the table had a wonderful Evening.

Lovely, relaxing,meal that went beyond our expectations! Wonderful staff made for an outstanding experience.

I visited here with my wife for dinner and we had an all-round fantastic time. "The kids" might call this a Meta experience, as Store is a restaurant (what was the mustard seed store) within the already very good Stoke Mill restaurant (itself an old watermill). Store offers a more intimate experience than is usually encountered. The room is decorated in cosy hues, with 5 tables seating no more than 18 people and an open kitchen at one end, where you can watch the chefs prepare all of the dishes. The waiting staff were all very friendly and mainly handled the beverage side of the operation, with the 3 chefs serving and talking you through the food you'd just watched them prepare. The food was all faultlessly delicious and also quite interesting; £110 per person for 9 courses is very reasonable for the work and refinement on offer. We opted for a wine pairing to accompany our food, which also comes at 2 price points: A at £55pp or B at £95pp. We chose the cheaper option and this did not disappoint, offering luscious, well matched pairings that perfectly complimented what we were eating. We shared the optional cheese course: a great selection is presented, from which you can chose 1 cheese for £6, 3 for £12 or 5 for £20 - we went for 3 and matched it with a delicious 2001 Fonseca vintage port. Sometimes such multiple course and wine offerings leave us feeling ready to burst, à la Mr Creosote, however this was noteably well judged and we felt pleasantly full at the end. We had a brilliant evening and look forward to visiting again in the future 👍🏻

The Store@Stoke Mill. Wow what can I say a stunning experience and having eaten at most of the best restaurants in Norfolk including most in the Michelin Guide I can without doubt say the food here leaves the others trailing in its wake. The taster menu demonstrates immense skill and was a pleasure with every mouthful start to finish. The atmosphere in this little restaurant was bubbly with lots of chatter it didn’t feel at all stuffy and was very relaxed with lots of interaction with the staff including the chef who was keen to display his enthusiasm with all the guests. It is definitely a treat but looking forward to returning not to far into the future. Thank you Liam, Becca and all the Staff at The Store for a most memorable evening.

Fabulous in every way… food and service faultless…. fish cake with Thai green sauce… followed by fillet steak.. and then crime brûlée with raspberry sorbet… all exceptional. So lucky to have such a great place locally.

For STORE MICHELIN 1 star. With the evening taster and paired wine and 12.5% service and the cheese you can be talking maybe £225 a head We ordered a bottle of good champagne but it was served at room temperature and when this was pointed out nothing was done or discount offered. The wine waiter didnt actually know wine at all maybe it was the sommeliers night off. For the main courses there was maybe a teaspoon of meat or fish in dishes. The ambience is pleasant enough, there are no views. Its a room off the main restaurant. We have been to several michelin star restaurants and this one is relatively weak. One thing they do is to come round with a cheeseboard and you dont realise its a significant extra until you get the bill. So not blown away, expect to pay a lot by norfolk standards

We had been looking forward to trying this tasting menu, particularly in view of the recently acquired coveted Michelin star. It did not disappoint. Firstly, Store is at the back of the existing Stoke Mill restaurant. It is a pleasant, simply decorated, darkly intimate room with an open preparation area. This has the desired effect of letting the diner feel part of the whole theatre of what is being created for their delectation. What an eating experience! We started with some amuse bouche which were delectable. The marmite filled gougère, topped with a pillow of Gruyère cheese were sumptuous! There were several nods to local heritage (Colmans Mustard) and use of local produce, but with Liam’s individual flair. I could mention much about the individual dishes, but standout for me was the Orkney scallop in a verdant green curry sauce, topped with a gently pickled daikon. Every mouthful was a delight that I hoped wouldn’t end! It’s been a long time since I’ve enjoyed the pleasurable journey of discovery a good tasting menu should be. The marriage of truly local produce (San Marzano tomatoes from a Norfolk grower and the best sourdough ever!) together with great produce from the U.K. and globally, makes for a diverse and delicious meander through the courses. Then, just as you think you’ve had an ample sufficiency, you receive a lovely circular wooden board with the an innocuous square of their petit four. “Our version of Aero” is what was said…once placed in the mouth, it melted in a moment of exquisite bliss… Finally, the service should get a special mention. It was warm and attentive. Indeed, the ambience created in Store is a testament to a chef who is not only creative and talented, but friendly and grounded with an incredibly professional team surrounding him. At least one visit to Store is a must!

Flawless lunch. Top notch lunch for mum's belated birthday treat. Full of surprises, flavour bombs and a very well balanced tasting menu. Highlights included: beetroot and horseradish macaron, cheese beignet, potato reblochon and onion (tartiflette, see pic) and "aero" chunk. Excellent service and a slick team (Liam and Hazel, and the hard working sommelier) put Store at the top of our Norfolk meals out. Thank you guys.

I had a fantastic evening here celebrating my Dad’s birthday. The food was incredible and we enjoyed each of the courses immensely. There were so many thoughtful touches to the tasting menu, including a delightful choux mustard bun to pay homage to the mill’s previous history of Coleman’s mustard production and a specially made knife using Sheffield steel and Norfolk wood for a venison dish. The two chefs were so engaging and passionate about their food, presenting and explaining each course in between preparations. The staff also went above and beyond to prepare a couple of tasters for my Mum who was not able to make the meal.
