Bird in Hand in South Norfolk

I visited the birdnhand today at 12 and i had mac and cheese i have came home and i have been sick i’m constantly being sick. Nobody in my house hold has a sickness bug or anything so i think it’s from this doggy max and cheese. !!

Unfriendly and unwelcoming!! Just popped in for a quick lunch, stood around waiting for 10mins, staff not even acknowleding me or offering me a menu or table. Food may be great, but service needs some work guys!!

Very disappointed with the atmosphere, service and food quality Food was very average and no better than aWeatherspoons. Service was near non-existent. Just placed the ordered and delivered.

Service is outstanding. Janet is a star, took time to talk and make our lad feel special. Made our meal memorable in every way. Food was generously portioned and very tasty. Would visit again.

A really good place to eat. Loved the wide choice of food. We had a party of 9 wogh some of the world's fussy eaters but all managed to find something. Will be back

The pub has been host to a monthly meet for the local MX-5 owners club for several years, accommodating groups of up to 70 people at a time in their restaurant / function rooms. The staff are friendly and very helpful, the pub itself, set in a peaceful area of rural Norfolk,, majors its decor around the local business of Lotus Cars. Great food and drinks selection, firmly recommended

We stayed for the weekend in room 1 had a lovely weekend rooms clean and comfortable everything you needed. The pub was lovely food was lovely specially the steak and ale pie . Jan and trina and Martina and Alisha thankyou so much for making us feel welcome and made us feel comfortable for our stay for the weekend we will definitely come again . Hope to see you soon girls

The food was very good. I had meat pie. Can be a bit risky in some restaurants but it was perfect at the B in H.

Despite being very busy, we (party of 5) were extremely well looked after by Kelly, Annie and Lynne. We sat on the comfy sofas and enjoyed a drink before moving to our table. The food was delicious- particularly the steaks. Will definitely be visiting again.

What a great place for Breakfast, there was 10 of us for Mother’s Day Breakfast, I must say I felt really spoilt, the staff were brilliant, kept bringing us Coffee, Tea and fruit juice, you normally help yourself, but it was well thought out as it was very busy. Kelly made sure our party had everything we needed. So patient and accommodating. And the food was great as well! 5* all round.

We came for breakfast yesterday, there was a big group of us. The food was great and it was amazing value because the teas, coffees, and juices are included. Kelly was our waitress. She was very friendly and was more than happy to change some breakfast items to suit our preferences. She was constantly running around after us, filling up our drinks and getting us extra toast, etc. when we asked. I would definitely recommend going here for breakfast.

Just treated my self to there morning full English breakfast.. Let's just say ill be skipping lunch and defo will be returning, superb quality and value,, thumbs up to chef Gary

Had a lovely meal on Saturday night (9th March) to celebrate my special birthday. Food and service very good. Thank you to you all at the Bird in Hand that night.

I visited the restaurant this morning for breakfast and the food was lovely, however I didn’t have a very good experience with the waitress. I think her name was Kelly. When taking my order I told her I didn’t want a few things on the traditional breakfast and she replied in a very rude manor “so what do you actually want, because that seems ridiculous” I was honestly taken aback and was shocked at how she spoke to me. It was very embarrassing in front of my partners family. I left feeling quite upset.

Excellent food and service. Staff so helpful and cheerful. Checked to make sure one of our guests was ok with garlic allergies

Just had the most lovely lunchtime meal with my mum, made even more special by the lovely member of staff that looked after us, the food was lovely too. Lucky to have this place on our doorstep! will definitely be back!

Thanks to staff at the bird in hand, who, even though rest off their feet, during our visit, were nothing short of amazing. We were seated promptly and eating our lunch within 10 minutes. Who does delicious, definitely best around! It was worth the hour round trip! Looking forward to visiting again!

We always have our works ‘Christmas’ meal in Jan/Feb and wanted to go somewhere for a nice Sunday roast. Service was 100% from start to finish, food was delicious and our ‘quirks’ were catered for without making us feel an inconvenience. Thanks for having us!

We visited here on the 24/2/24 for a family meal . The restaurant is very clean and well laid out . The menu is quite large and reasonably priced . Service was good and the food was fantastic . My wife is a coeliac and was easily catered for. For three mains , 3 drinks , 2 coffees and 2 desserts the bill came to £70. I found this reasonable bearing in mind the food was of good quality . Well recommended and worth a visit .

We visited last night and had a lovely meal. Everything was very tasty! The portions were huge and the pies we had were delicious - obviously homemade with proper pastry. Our son (aged 13) ate every single thing - starter, main course and dessert and declared at all brilliant! What made the meal even more fun was the great rapport the server, Jan, had with us and especially with our son was fabulous. What a brilliant lady who is excellent at her job as well as being really personable - she really made the experience top notch. Thanks Jan - and everyone else. And yes, he did eat his mint as soon as he got outside!

We came to the Bird in hand tonight for a family meal and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to go to a fantastic family and dog friendly pub. Service was exceptionally good; Kelly, Lynne, Angie and the rest of the team there tonight were attentive, friendly and efficient. Great homecooked food.

Fantastic restaurant for gf options. Gf labelled on the main menu with a great amount of options. The food is good the restaurant has a lovely homely atmosphere.

Had a lovely evening with friends. The food was really tasty, belly of pork with Dauphinoise potatoes and veg with steamed syrup pudding and custard for dessert! YUM! The staff who served us were brilliant, really friendly and happy to help, can’t thank them enough...

I have just had breakfast at The Bird in Hand. Wow!! Friendly welcome. Great service. Lovely coffee and the Eggs Royale were fabulous. Everything is reasonably priced too. I thoroughly recommend a visit.

Starter comprised of two small dry chicken satays. Main was to be a well done steak, but cooked to point all juices gone and dry as leather so had no taste, onion rings were pale and greasy accompanied with undercooked chips. Terrible

We are just 10 minutes away and our experience at The Bird in Hand has always been good!We have visited twice in two weeks recently. The food has been outstanding and we have had a very good experience on both occasions. The first, a Sunday evening with guests, when we had a wonderful roast and the other a Monday lunchtime, also excellent. Service is good and staff welcoming and friendly.Don't miss this!

What a wonderful menu. We struggled to choose because there was such a wide selection - especially for a vegetarian! Huge portions, super friendly service and a real cosy atmosphere. I opted for 'nibbles' as a starter because I wanted to save myself for the galette main course but even that course was huge too! We were generously treated by our friend so I can't give any testimony as to price, but what a wonderful choice of venue.

We stayed at The Bird in the Hand for 2 nights. The room was clean and had everything we needed. We had 2 evening meals and a breakfast - all excellent. Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. We would definitely stay here again.

We stopped here on the way to Norwich having found where we were going closed. I am glad we did. We went to the bar and ordered a drink and then sat outside enjoying the sunshine. We had a look at the menu and ordered two burgers. They were lovely, home made with loads of sauces, cheese, literally burger heaven. I would have loved dessert but was far too full so will need to go back for that another time. All the staff we had dealings with were friendly and helpful. Special mention to Taylor and Lyn who were cheerful and helpful a credit to the team.

What was good. Well cooked roast. Plenty of veg. Nice pictures on walls and lotus car photographs. Issue with pint quickly rectified. Too full unfortunately to have a desert. What could’ve been slightly better. Horseradish wasn’t great. Waitress said I could have more if needed but never came back to check and by the time I saw her it was too late. Needed extra gravy too. Beef could’ve been slightly pinker buts that’s personal choice. Given a can of alcohol free ghost ship when I had ordered a pint of alcoholic ghost ship. Sure we will go back at some point. Prices were reasonable. Interested to try other dishes apart from the roast next time. Maybe a different room also. Lots of different rooms here. Not sure if you can choose.

Fabulous food, Fabulous service & a really enjoyable experience. Have eaten here a few times since restrictions lifted & have not been disappointed on any occasion. Would not hesitate to return.

Had an overnight stop while visiting family in Norfolk. What a gem of a place. Staff so friendly but not familiar.... food excellent.... rooms beautifully kept and good size. Room #4 good for those who need access with wheelchair. Cant fault the place ... looking for the next excuse to visit here !.

We went here for a meal on our anniversary trip, the staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was wonderful and well priced. Would definitely recommend! The cat who lived there made an appearance which was a cute surprise as cat owners ourselves.

Food amazing I am a meat eater but opted for the vegetarian burger best burger I have ever eaten the beans were like Mexican spiced beans so good. Staff alway friendly and notice when you have an empty glass. Really good restaurant great home cooked food.

Thanks to Jade! my wife and I make the Bird in Hand a multi weekly after work pint pit stop due to her helpfulness and making sure out glasses are never empty.

We were lucky to time it right and get a table. You could tell they were very busy and deservedly so. Fantastic menu choices, good to see something a bit different. Traditional beers kept well and very drinkable.

The waitress was great, very friendly, but the staff who sat us at the table was a bit brusque. Meal was disappointing, very small with no garnish and the burger was nearly cold. Ordered desserts to see if things would improve but waited over 45 minutes and no show of pudding. Told kitchens and still no desserts so cancelled. Very poor meal overall and will not go again if i am out this a way.

Two grandparents, two parents & two grandchildren were all incredibly happy with the food and friendly & efficient service but not only that, I was reminded that this venue serves decent real ale and an enormous steak and ale pie of superb quality although my wife had to take more than half home in a take-away box that I got to snaffle next day for lunch - heaven.

Wanted to thank the Bird In Hand for a fantastic Valentines take out meal the Lamb Shanks were amazing. We also had the desert tray shown in the photo. It made for a special lockdown Valentines well done Bird in Hand will be back! Highly recommended.

Having eaten many times at this fantastic pub, we decided to give the takeaway service a try. The whole collection process is really well organised, Covid-safe and simple - you book a time slot and turn up! We ordered three different main courses; the burger, lasagne and beef bourguignon pie and each was delicious. Made a really pleasant change from Chinese or Indian takeaways and we’ll definitely use it again.

Just had our first Bird in Hand BYO Burgers. Wow. Really tasty and juicy burgers with chunky chips. Will definitely be back and can’t wait to be able to visit when they can open so we can dine in.Totally recommend, best chips in the Wymondham area hands down.
