We have been to this pub several times over recent years and found the food of an excellent standard with quality ingredients. Prices are also reasonable given the quality and presentation. I would highly recommend .

We called in for Sunday lunch and found the pub surprisingly quiet because the meal was very good and the staff friendly and efficient. If we are in the area next time we will definitely call again.

Having just moved to the area 4 of us thought we would try the Harte for Sunday lunch. No reservation was required, it has its own free car park. On arriving the landlady welcomed us warmly and advised us we should sit wherever we wanted and then when we were seated, asked what drinks we would like? She then brought over menus, there is a good although not huge selection (which I prefer, do a few things well rather than a lot of things badly). I went for the beef, the others had chicken. While getting a 2nd lager, I could see into the kitchen which was clean and tidy, as was the chef. When the food arrived it was very well presented and we all enjoyed it, we all commented on the quality, well done to the chef and waiter. We then had the desserts which again were great. I also spoke to Landlord who was very friendly . Overall we were all impressed and will definitely come back for more. Highly recommended

Had Sunday lunch here today and the menu was very poor and when we did order and get fed the food was cold and gave the impression it had just been out of the microwave. Waitress could have at least smiled and the bar man the same. Over priced for what we had and certainly won't be back or wouldn't advise either.

Been here a number of times and they are always accomodating to any particular requirements, and serve good value, wholesome food. Last visit was an August Wednesday (EOTHO) and we were met by exhausted hosts, but they still served us food despite it being a bit late.

This was my pre race meal and alcohol night before my Run Norwich 2019. I really enjoyed my lamb, my wife wasn’t as keen on her Thai curry, the starters were both nice.

A very last minute booking as we were add ons to my mum & dads table. We all had roast beef lunch which was absolutely delicious, just enough & a good choice of vegetables. Went on to have the apple & cider pudding OMG! Haven’t had a pud like that for a while, so naughty! The waitress was a very sweet young lady, very friendly & helpful. The afternoon was very relaxed & was just an all round lovely lunch!

This pub in the centre of Old Costessey has a small restaurant and serves some pretty impressive food. Our latest visit was for a set 3 course meal for Mothers Day that featured what is a well renowned Sunday roast. Beautifully presented our ham hock terrine was like a dish from Master Chef. The beef was fantastic using locally sourced Swannington beef with the best cooked vegetables I've had in a restaurant. You must try it!

We visited here a couple of times for food whilst staying in the area. It is not a cosy pub but the open fire is great for cold winter evenings and the dog certainly enjoyed it. I had the vegetarian burger as it was the only veggie option on the menu but it was good and it was a large portion. My other half had the special which he enjoyed and again was a good sized portion. We were looked after well by the staff and the waitress who served us was very friendky and helpful.

We popped in a couple of times, having moved locally, and found the food outstanding, so we booked for our family Christmas Eve get together. Everyone agreed the food was delicious and the service was great too. How lucky to find such a friendly village pub which is so welcoming and offers fab food. We shall be returning and definitely recommend it.

On holiday for a few days staying in Costessey. Popped into The Harte for a beer with family and dog. Lovely welcome and great pub with good ales. Dog friendly (not in restaurant of course). Booked for Sunday lunch the following day which was really tasty and good value with excellent portions and quality veg. Would recommend popping in if in the area.

Sunday roast excellent value for money and served by polite unobtrusive helpful staff in old style pub surroundings. The staff were happy to serve and talk to our young grandchildren which made them feel at home. Will be back again soon

We eat quite regularly at the Harte and always enjoy the food. It's what you'd expect from a good local pub. Friendly service and an enjoyable place to visit. Attractive surroundings and a reasonable menu selection. It's not a gastro pub so don't expect that level of dining but if you need somewhere pleasant to eat and want good pub grub this ticks the boxes.

We called in for an evening meal with family on a Saturday night. One of our party ordered fishcakes which were really bland and the salad was very sad. I ordered a rib eye steak, medium I must say this was the smallest steak I have ever had and was over done average frozen chips. The burger was ok But the onion rings were the best I have ever had This could have been so much better but apart for the waitress who is from France I don't think anyone was bothered.

We've eaten 3 times at the Harte - the 1st time was very good, the 2nd time the experience was so bad we said "never again"......however that was 15 months ago and we weakened our resolve.........going for a Sunday lunch last week and had a really good lunch - both food and service - so we are currently inclined to think we were just unlucky on the 2nd visit

Always love visiting The Harte. A small but tidy real ale selection complimented by a great selection of freshly cooked food. If I lived in Costessey, I'd be a regular within days. The service is extremely friendly, the landlord always saying hello as you enter and goodbye as you leave, even if his hands are full with other customers. All the bar and kitchen staff are also always all smiles and happy to answer any questions you may have. It's a proper treat and always well worth a visit. Great value too, most (large!) mains are around £10.

We were away on holiday and been told to try this pub for their food unfortunately the only decent part of this meal was the starter, fishcakes and chicken skewers, I know it's pub grub but I think it is the worst we have ever had, we ordered 2 sirloin meals, 1 chicken pie and a lasagne. The steaks were more gristle and fat than meat, the chicken pie was a bowl of soup with a few pieces of chicken thrown in and a crust on top and the lasagne was lacking in meat content and that which was there looked like it had come out of a tin. The waitress asked if all was OK to which I replied that it didn't look like it as there was so much left on our plates to which she smiled and whisked our plates away, no apology or asking what the problem was. We didn't stay and will not be returning if ever in this area again, the whole meal was a complete waste of money and we wished we had cooked at home

We came on 14/10/24 for a family wake. Mandy and Simon did an amazing job of making the room welcoming and accommodating us with all our wishes. The service and food were of excellent quality with a very fair price and there was plenty for all. It was so nice that even the cakes were iced in the favourite colours of our late family member, not requested but we felt was such a lovely added touch. Thank you Mandy and Simon, we would definitely recommend you.

Found the cafe purely by accident, on the High Street, stopping in Loddon for something to do on a rather autumnal day. You will find it near to the take away and funeral services, but don't let that deter you...So glad we popped in! Wide choice of cakes and some savouries, including vegan and/or gluten free. Huge pot of tea! Pretty tea room, very well equipped single toilet. Family affair, mother and two daughters bake everything on site. Long chat with lovely Lisa, so enthusiastic about their business. We only tasted a quiche and blackberry cake, but goodness, so delicious, and if a hint of other produce from their fine hands, well worth a further visit or cake order. Apparently mum Julie runs craft classes upstairs too.. talented family. We wish you continued success and will hopefully see you next holiday.

3 of us had lunch here. We all chose something different and each dish was great. Everything was lovely and fresh. The soup was homemade with a generous portion of bread. The sandwich from the specials was accompanied by two types of salad as was the sausage roll. The service was efficient and friendly too. I highly recommend.
