Allergen concern! I’ve been ordering here for years. It’s delicious. Unfortunately tonight the chicken korma was spicy. I’m assuming, this means they cooked the korma sauce in the same cookware as another spicy dish, without washing it. This is massive risk for those with allergies. Spice village, if you’re reading this please don’t cut corners when it comes to food safety. Allergies can kill people. Other than that very serious concern, it’s always tasty.

We went here for a celebration with my wife and 3 children and it was an absolutely shocking experience! The food was very nice, lots of it and fairly priced. However, beyond that, the staff are plan and simply rude. I had my replacement knife and fork thrown across the table at me as they were too lazy to bring around to my seat. Drinks slammed down causing overspill. Placing all food on the easiest to reach part and expecting me my wife and the kids to pass hot plates to each other. The restaurant was getting quiet about 9pm on a Tuesday night and we were the last table in there, so they turned the music off to hurry us up finishing our meal - I put music on my phone to make a point and they laughed and the quickly turned it back on again. All staff look like they would rather be somewhere else and this is by far the worst table service I have ever experienced anywhere in the world. I'm no Karen... This was literally an horrendous experience and if I could zero stars I would!

Wrong food came out , was told that what I order and argued that what it was... then waited and rice just left and gone cold wrong food came out wrong again! Other food was warm not hot, as this nornaly a regular of ours but after this will not be going there again! Rude staff ... they did say take 1 dish off the price but still paid for the rest that was cold nut unsure if they achally did as couldnt wait to just leave!

I booked a table for 7pm months ago. Turned up at 6.45 pm. They were prioritising takeaways so our food turned up at 8.30! My friends were about ready to leave and I wish we had. Worst prawn cocktail I have ever eaten. Had ingredients in it.I had specifically asked not to be in it. Didn't take the price of the bill.Despite me handing it back , barely eaten. Didn't bring change when we paid just kept it. My friends fell over a very high step in the bathroom which did not have a safety warning or hand rail on it and I asked 3 people to come and help her and they sent a very small woman who had no chance of being able to help her up when I specifically asked a man to help. But a supposed accident report book which was actually a staff checkbook. Diabolical service. Read the trip advisor reviews. I wish I had.

I was in the group with Rachel .As she correctly says the wait was over 1.5 hours , by that time we would have eaten anything. The food was not great , service diabolical, attitude even worse, the table had been booked but others were served before us , the food came out in an odd order, so no one got their whole meal together. I went to the ladies , no toilet paper ,came out and fell down an invisible step ,laid on floor screaming for help, thankfully my friends realised something was wrong and came to see if I was ok .All of my left side is damaged , foot, hip , arm , and back and shoulder blades, the bruises are now appearing its painful .I asked for the accident book , what I was given was not an accident book, and I did not receive any sympathy or apology.

Service is appalling and they don't care. Same as multiple reviews from others, the orders are ALWAYS late. Really late. And people behind counter wouldn't know a please or thank you if it slapped them.

Before going to this restaurant, we read the reviews, so we were prepared to wait for a long time. The place was extremely busy, with no spare tables. Between ordering and getting our food was an hour! The meal itself was okay, nothing special, though. The woman who took our order was lovely and not as others have described the staff. Our main quibble was that we had to ask for the bill no less than five times, and it was only when we got up to leave and put our coats on that we could eventually pay. I don't know if I'd return - possibly not.

The owners of this resturent are too rude to their staffs and customers as well. The taste of the food is very bad.They don't know how to behave with their employees and customers.

Always a friendly welcome. Restaurant is spotless. Food is excellent, and plentiful. A firm family favourite for birthday celebrations.

As usual compete chaos for take aways. They take orders with a pickup time but don't start cooking until you arrive. They take too many orders and clearly can not cope with the volumes.. I only come back because the food is good but noticed a decline the last twice I ordered. No customer focus and no consideration for peoples time.

Before visiting, I was warned by someone who'd been a year before that the food was OK, but the service was slow. Optimistically, I thought the service may have improved. Unfortunately, it hadn't. The food was OK but did not compensate for the comically, slow, and inaccurate service. The comedy high point was a different waitress coming to take our order when another waiter was clearing our plates. If you are not in a rush and are patient and enjoy the '2 soups' approach, this is the place to go.

Haven’t posted for a long while and very rarely write negative reviews but staggered how bad this place is. Their contempt for the customer is unbelievable. Service extremely slow & poor, lacking in any training it seems. Food so,so, water glasses grubby, beers flat & mens loo filthy. First and last visit for me.

Curry is always great but ordered at 17.45 as hungry and it said 30 mins so expected around 18.15 +/-. 19.00 and still no sign!!! We used to use another curry house but although quality better timing/service is horrendous. This is not the first time. Hubby said they don't appear to start cooking until you arrive. Let us pay online and sort the timing out!!!

0 star experience. We booked a table for 7pm , walked in having made the wait staff aware that I’d booked . was left for 25 minutes standing by the door with a Young child , whilst they offered walk ins behind us a table??!!spoke to the owner , said we had booked for 7 and the numerous people behind us had been seated. No apology, couldn’t have cared less . I wanted to leave , my partner wanted to persevere. When we were seated, after they had accommodated the male walk ins , I ordered a bottle of wine, turned up without a glass asked politely for a glass and was waiting for another 30 minutes . Got up and went to get the glass myself in the end . waitress came over to get our order after that and was interrupted by another member of staff and walk off and didn’t take the order . I left as my child was tired and hungry . My partner waited a further hour after asking for the bill .frankly I would have left ! And I would never advocate leaving without paying a bill. Absolute shambles , embarrassment to the hospitality industry. A complete joke . for a business that has been open for years ..:they couldn’t organise a pi** up in a brewery ! Will never ever return .

Another lovely meal here again this evening, by far the best Indian around, but its just soooo slow- over an hour and a half for food to arrive and several times we ordered drinks they didn't turn up! We've lived in Drayton for 6 years and it's always been like this, whether you eat in or take away. Almost seems like they could do with a separate takeaway shop to focus on the restaurant service.

Shocking service table of 15 waited ages for drinks and only half came out asked repeatedly for the drinks after 35 mins finally came out - constantly kept having to ask for more drinks old glasses not removed - food ordered 2 hours later food comes out wrong food - missing items honestly it’s a joke and food wasn’t even that great will not be going back management can’t cope owner woman just stands there ordering people around and doing nothing place is a joke

Normally get a takeaway from here but have to add an hour on to the time given. So thought we would eat in, big mistake as took 10 mins to order a drink another 15 mins before it came. Long wait for food. Asked waiter where main was & he said have you ordered. Whole meal took over 2 1/2 hours also food was poor. We will find somewhere else

Very very slow . Waited 1 hour 15 mins for starters . Waiting stuff wouldn't walk round to serve just put plates down for us to pass over, as again for cutlery. Utter shambles, food ok had much better else where . 1st and last time at this restaurant.

The food was really nice and the portions were manageable, unlike some Indian restaurants where I can easily waste half my meal. The service on the other hand was shocking. On arrival we were pointed to our table. Our drinks order was taken promptly and we were given poppadoms, so far so good. Next our order was taken. The starter came out swiftly and before we received our drinks. The jug of water we requested never materialised. The mains were served before we’d finished our and I was still finishing the last mouthful as they were clearing the plates and placing the main. On finishing the main we were presented with the bill, no offer of dessert, coffee, drinks…. Nothing! Just a lady with a card machine materialised within a minute of leaving the bill. No-one asked if the meal was ok, it was apparent that they just wanted us to leave. I could have understood if there was a queue of people waiting for a table but by this time the restaurant was at best 3/4 full. Such a shame that a restaurant with such good food can’t offer a welcome service to go with it.

Always wanted to try it out and it didn't fail at all. Top place to go for a tasty sit down meal and recommended curry restaurant.

Whilst I was eating, my dining experience took an unexpected turn as a chef emerged with an unpleasant odor and visibly dirty clothes, leaving me questioning the restaurant's cleanliness.

This is my favourite Indian restaurant in the Portsmouth area by far! Absolutely wonderful service, always friendly and the food is superb every time. Well done to all at Spice Village, you are a credit and well worthy of 5 + Stars ⭐️

While enjoying the excellent service from attentive waiters, it was hard to ignore the disruptive atmosphere created by loud bosses who not only shouted at the staff but also exhibited rude behaviour towards them, overshadowing an otherwise positive dining experience.

First and last visit. Main meal was so sweet and when I had a replacement it was worse, were talking Tika Massala!! White wine served ,instead of red that was ordered. Not impressed 😕

Don’t come here, as you can probably see from the reviews it’s not the best. It’s not even the food that is the worst thing it’s the service waiting between 40 min and d hour to get served snd between each course

If you are used to basic human politeness, then this is NOT the place for you. No 'thankyous, please, how was your meal' etc. The basics of human politeness are completely absent here. We asked for something and get a kindve shrug back like we where being a PITA. Im not sure why the male staff don't realise they are there to serve your food, they are arrogant and look down on you, they have this wry smirk on their faces constantly like they have done something to your food. its like they are doing you a favour by gracing you with their presence, this is not the norm. This is the only Indian I have ever been to that doesn't have a naan bread with a balti, the food is overpriced for what it is. A lamb balti will incur an extra £2 because its got lamb in it....yes...thats on top of the price for being a lamb balti. nothing special, and due to the arrogant staff that are in here we won't ever be returning, unwelcoming with mediocre food, never again AVOID AVOID AVOID

Don't go here unless you like waiting for hours for your food, it wouldn't be so bad if they kept you busy with drinks but they don't we were in for 3 hours and had 1 drink a strongbow cider served in a can 🤦🏻‍♂️ the ignorant absolutely miserable staff are a complete waste of space, the food is ok but the rest of it makes the place the worst restaurant we have ever been in 100% just read the other reviews the place is a joke DONT GO 👍

Food is average, service is too low. Meet is not Halal, seafood is below average. I think the owner has to work hard, and to be honest when writing Halal food.

Great staff, friendly and respectful. Would definitely go again. Curry with naan was perfect. Was well looked after by all staff.

Slow service, Lamb was chewy and garlic mayo on my garlic naan (that's weird right?).

Booked online and requested where we would like to sit. Arrived and said the name of the booking, waitress looked clueless and took us to a table that was not ready nor where we requested. As we sat down a group of 3 lads said i wouldnt bother weve been waiting hour and half for our food and the people on your table up and left without paying for their drinks because they were fed up of waiting. We were given menus and not even 2 minutes later asked what we want to order. Service was shocking, cutlery just chucked on the table, was leant over and they got our drinks order wrong. Our food arrived hour and half later which was nice but when it came to the bill, they charged us for the drinks from the previous people adding and extra £33 to our bill. Customer service was shocking, very poorly managed and absolutely no care for the customers. Last time I will go there. Please read on their Web page that they state their poor reviews on trip advisor and google reviews are from competitors.......what a joke. Shambles of a restaurant........DO NOT GO

attended spice village with family and experienced awful service likewise so did neighbouring tables, all we witnessed was people complaining about the service. Table cloth was filthy, popadoms turned up then waiting 10 minutes for our side plates to turn up so we could eat our popadoms. Waited 25 minutes for our drinks to turn up which were wrong. It took 25 minute for our drinks order to even be taken. All staff were extremely unorganised but dressed smart which was more than could be said for the main man (owner) who looked disgusting in a filthy polo top. We experienced terrible service 2 months previous to this where a metal ball bearing was found in my family’s chicken and the owner was devastated and pleaded with us not to report this further or post on social media and assured us this had never happened previous. Putting this to one side the food was fantastic so we wrongly though we would give spice village another go which was a huge mistake. Without sounding rude the staff were useless and couldn’t understand us when even asking for a drink, staff that struggle to communicate and understand should not be at front of house as this gives the customer an uncomfortable experience. Unfortunately this restaurant was gone from being amazing to extremely poor over the years and is so disappointing when we all work hard to enjoy a meal out and spend our hard earned money.

The waiter acted as if the customers presence displeased him - seems counter intuitive for a restaurant. All topped off by a violent case of food poisoning 12 hours after being at the curry house. I would avoid unless you want your severe constipation quickly and spectacularly resolved.

The service from the moment we ordered was terrible with the staff not speaking English and when we complained they didn't understand, we waited an hour for starters and then waited another hour for our main and my partners had long black curly hairs in it with a big knot on the end

Being local to this restaurant would drive past as always looked nice. Booked for a small family celebration meal after a birthday and work promotion. Booked over a week in advance online. Arrived and staff looked clueless. Shown to a small table which was difficult to move in and out from. Asked for a drinks order before had even sat down and asked for 5 minutes to delude and settle in. Literally 2 mins later another staff member asked for our order. Again, asked for a moment to peruse the wine list and sent the guy away, asking for 5 minutes more. Then, waited over 20 mins to have drinks order taken! When did ask for a bottle of house champagne from menu was told this was not in stock... asked for bottle of sparkling water and 3 glasses also, only 2 glass arrived. They took away my cutlery also. When asked for an extra glass was then bought tap water! Shambolic from the start... Staff simply clueless. No manager or direction. Couple at next table complained re a object in their main dish. The waiter literally fished around in the dish at their table in full view of us and other diners. They left very soon afterwards having obviously been unhappy with their meal. Food arrived and was actually very good. Hot, tasty, plentiful. However naan and seemed deep fried was thin and lamb tough. When finished a lady asked if we wanted more drinks. We declined and she then took away our half full bottle of prosecco. We had to ask for it back! Service was not attentive, staff could not be bothered nor seemed interested and totally vague! No deserts or coffee even offered... Final issue was when paying, paid by card, guy did not offer a receipt and simply walked off to charge the next tables card! Had to check my bank app to ensure correct amount taken... Disappointed from start to finish with service, although food was overall good and venue was pleasant plus bathrooms spotless. Would I return? Definitely not unless staff and service dramatically improve... disastrous!

Been here 3 times in the past year or so .first time was ok: last time was passable but this time it was just unnaceptable. The currys are old, even tho we waited 45 mins, bland curries. Most people there are already drunk before food arrives to even realise the quality of food is poor, also why is it that i always get charged a different price for some of the items than on the menu. Clearly something going wrong here, it happened the last time also happened this time, how can you get it wrong you sell these dishes all day long. And its the same woman on the counter taking the money. Also clean the high chair its always filthy or invest in a better one that just needs a ‘wipe down’ ikea sell them for £20.

Was told our order would be ready at 7pm but didn’t get it until 8:30pm!! Food was cold and rubbish will never be ordering from this place again.

Average food. Terrible service. We were served by multiple staff, none of whom knew what each other had done, i.e. orders taken and who had delivered which dishes to our table. No staff even managed eye contact, let alone spoke to us (other than to take the order). They pretty much threw our food on the table, leaving me to make room, and to top it off, they began to hoover the restaurant, ready to close up while we were still eating. Avoid.

This time keeping here is awful. Me and my partner ordered a takeaway here which did say 45 minutes for collection which we waited and went to the restaurant after 45 minutes but then to wait inside the restaurant on sofa for another 40 minutes for our food is absolutely ridiculous. No compensation, no apology. I really do believe this establishment needs to think about customer service and just be truthful and let customers know that their takeaway will not be ready for 1.5hrs.

Can't fault the food but the service is slow and terrible. Puts me off going again. What a shame. I think the problem might be that they prioritise take aways as there were endless bags coming from the kitchen whilst we waited for our food with empty glasses.

We went here last night for a birthday celebration. There were 13 of us. We waited 2 hours for a main meal. We ordered drinks that did not arrive. Food came with no rice. No plates on the table or cutlery. When we asked for cutlery is was brought over and thrown on the table by a very miserable and rude waiter. Service was terrible. Queues of people through the restaurant waiting for takeaway orders. All of the staff looked like they did not want to be there. Food was ok but not worth the wait. Would also like to add I am not weiting this as a competitor as Spice Village say this is where their had reviews come from. Terrible service.would never return.

Food is amazing but the service is shocking. Our food took over an hour and a half to come, the waiters were wiping their sweaty heads and then touching all the naan breads, drinks were extremely slow, the staff were abrupt and ignored us most of the time we were there, plates weren’t cleared, our food didn’t come out together, ran out of the beer everyone wanted, orders were wrong and the bill was a nightmare at the end. Won’t be returning, this is a good example of being greedy, taking on takeaway orders and booking out a full restaurant and not looking after your customers. Not happy

Smart modern Indian restaurant with great food and service. They have a very wide ranging menu & all 5 of us eating were very impressed by our own choices. Prices were also good.

Appalling service. We were a group of about 20 people so we were spending good money. We found the staff rude and at no point did they try accommodate us or please us after waiting 2 hours for a main. We were discussing the bill and found a big Iver charge and the staff were argumentative and rude. The food was nice once it arrived but I will not return purely on there level of service. Having now read alot of other reviews it is clear alot of others of had the same experience.

Very slow service (probably because the place was jam packed). Had to wait for more than 1 hour. The food taste isn't that great either. Wouldn't call it authentic Indian food. Pretty expensive too.

The food is very nice however that is totally ruined by the very poor service we waited an hour for our order to be taken the male waiters are just miserable amd just ignore you, we managed to get a second drink but took forever to get it, my lad resorted to going up and asking at the bar we also did the same thing when we paid due to the waiter disappearing after we asked for the bill, tables all around us moaning, I wouldn’t recommend coming here it’s beyond a joke no atmosphere at all just feels like they want you out of there 🫤took about 3 hours to finally get out of there, safe to say we won’t be back I doubt they are bothered but the more customers they lose the more the business will suffer.

Placed an order at 5pm for a 7:15pm pick up. On arrival was asked to be seated. Waited 30 MINUTES. Within this time, I asked 3 times what is taking so long. Every response I got was, 'its coming'. No elaboration. Nothing. Once the food arrived, the owner walked us to the door and asked 'have you paid?' Waste of time. Poor communication. Better customer service required.

Went as a table of 4 other couple booked table on arrival table not reserved as at least resurant half empty at 19.30 on a Saturday evening ? Sat down ordered drinks and poppadoms which arrived quite quick then ordered meal but arrived at 9pm after a reminder good job restaurant wasn't full or been there all night all they was intrested in was more drinks but heard that one before old trick that service get more drinks from customers

How this place is still in business is beyond me?? It's shambolic, they must be haemorrhaging or at least losing money like its actually a key part of their business strategy. Table booked a week prior for a table of 10. Arrived and they looked clueless like they werent expecting us. They hastily put some tables together... Facing a wall!!! Next up they take our order and after 90 minutes we still had only had our poppadoms (1 each) and 1 round of drinks it took 3x to get right. In that 90 minutes I asked twice for more drinks none of which happened. At the 2 hour mark I said we were leaving and was told food was just about to come out. At the 2.5 hr mark still no food and our next round of drinks was still being sorted (and arrived wrong). Told to cancel the order and left at the 3 hour mark! The worrying thing was the apathy. There was zero shock, attempt to keep us and it looked like this was just a standard regular occurence and they were used to it. Several other parties also walks outs during our stay, one of which had been in since 6 and still hadn't had there starters 3.5 hrs later!! Can't comment on the food however no curry even if best in the world is worth sitting for nearly 4 for (they don't even ply you with drink to distract you)! Avoid unless blessed with infinite patience and vast amounts of time to kill waiting for food that may or may not arrive before closing time!

Very udy Indian restaurant. Has no parking available as on main road. Staff friendly and helpful. Plenty of tables available but pays to book. Good excellent and well presented. Worth a visit. Recommended.

ALWAYS CHECK THE BILL!! Mixed review - food lovely which is why we keep coming back but this was the fourth time we have been charged extra. Normally about £10 but this time a crazy amount of £29 which for 2 people is pretty obvious, not happy when we are regulars.

Don't be put off by the extraordinary waiting times. Waiting two hours for your meal to come is perfectly acceptable when you know the reason why. I did a little research and found that the chickens are killed on-site, just for you. Look out back. You will find a large barn door. Open that, and a first-class chicken murder house you will find. I always wondered what those screams were whilst walking up the lane.... Cracking food - rubbish management.

Awful service. Booked table a week ago and had to wait for a table when arrived. Ordered poppadoms and starters at same time. Poppadoms arrived 30 mins later and were sort. Asked for new ones and they said they ran out…on a Saturday night at 8:30…got my old Poppadoms back which were re heated and burnt. After 1 hour 15 mins, no starters so I walked out with family. They need to sort the service out as it’s awful and I won’t go back there again. Table next to me also left as waited 1 hour 45 minutes for mains. Most people waited 2 hours for food. Unacceptable

Food great, very busy so long wait between courses

The wait for the takeaway is lengthy, but the food is worth it.

We pre ordered our food to be collected later in the day, had an email confirmation at 5.00 to say food would be ready for our collection time at 6.15. We arrived at 6.15 paid and just over an hour later we got our food, yes OVER AN HOURS WAIT for food that should have been ready at 6.15 not 7.25. Yes it was a little busy but not massively. The food was nice but after the wait I probably would have eaten a scabby horse. Wouldn't order from here again for collection. It might be different if you are eating in wouldn't like to say how long that would take.
