Spice Garden Indian Takeaway in Ashford

Last time I ordered from Spice Garden, the order was 1 hour and 15 minutes late. The driver even went to the wrong village ! This time much better, only 45 minutes late ...... food was good, however, but even though I have been a loyal customer for over 10 years, I will not be using them again. Sorry Spice Garden, you've done it once too often.

Chicken was pink and grisly come cold, rice was freezing

Food was tasty and the portion size just right. There was 30 minutes delay on the delivery but the restaurant called to let me know so I didn’t mind it that much.

This is our local. I called when the delivery was 12 mins late to be told it was on the way. We live 3 mins walk away yet it took another 10 mins. The poppodums were stale. I had selected lamb but got chicken. The food was like warm and this was shortly after opening so would have expected fresh piping hot food. Extremely disappointed

Twice we ordered takeaway and it was delivered much later than estimated. We then collected an order and were given the wrong order and had to travel back to get it replaced. There was no apology or offer of refund/compensation.

I just ordered from here on just eat. I will never use your takeaway again. I rang up told use I was missing my items my lamb wasn't in my chicken tikka masala you put chicken init instead. No free salad with the starter. I'm down £8 nearly and I've been insulted. You told me your sorry but it's not your fault it's just eats fault what that my food got left out my dinner. I am not happy very bad business skills. It's not there fault I got mugged of and feel robbed by use. Absolutely discusting. Shame the food was nice. You ruined it and my evening

The food was lovely but the dansak was a little watery however when mixed with the rice was better consistency. Will go back.

The best Indian takeaway in Ashford. Being of Asian decent myself Im a picky one for proper curries and this takeaway is excellent. Pity it does not have a sit down restaurant and is takeaway service only.

Took 2 hours for the food to arrive, I had to phone twice and put an enquiry through the app. When it arrived it was cold, items missing and wasn’t the best quality. Cheers were like liquid and had a big layer of oil over the top. It was spilt all over the inside of the bag so was an absolute mess trying to dish up. Won’t be using again

Dinner was cold and the chutneys where liquid/ runny. Bag got delivered and liquid/ oils spilt everywhere and made a mess trying to get it out and dish up not great flavour was good though

Vindaloo good (little bit oily) but very tasty. Would be 5 star but did forget the onion bhajis.

Lovely delivery driver. Korma was not to my liking but the chicken was cooked nicely. Plus it’s almost £20 cheaper altogether than most others so cannot complain :)

Will not be ordering again. The Onion bhajis were over cooked and crisp all the way through. The mint dip that came with them was water thin and tasted off. The naan’s weren’t the best but tasted ok. As for the curries, very disappointing. The garlic chilli chicken had dry and tough chicken. The prawn jalfrezi was full of onion. I know it should have onion and that’s fine but it would normally have tomatoes and peppers too, which were nowhere to be seen. Delivery time was good and everyone was well packages, but so disappointed with the food and won’t be ordering again.

Always use these guys as the food is great, but they really let us down tonight. The order status changed to ‘enjoy your food’ around the time it was supposed to be delivered, but 30 mins later, still no food. Phoned twice (again 15mins later) and was lied to both times, being told it’ll be 5 minutes. Why can’t they be honest and say they are struggling? The guy on the phone couldn’t have cared less. Finally turned up over an hour late. Evening ruined. As a regular customer we feel very let down.

Wish I could give minus stars because I would…..Absolute disgrace of a company. Placed order 17th April money taken out of my account, then receive txt saying unable to collect because they were closed… still no refund 10 days later called today and told manager was on holiday for another week and can’t help me. You should an ashamed of yourself.

We had an awful meal out of spice garden this evening, the chapatis were solid and crispy couldn’t even unfold them! The dansak chicken was very chewy (couldn’t even break it down with my teeth) and the rice clumpy. Then I had something black and hard (consistency of a stone) in the sag aloo. Goodness knows what that was. Called the restaurant and they weren’t apologetic or helpful in any way/ just told us to go through just eat and as valued customers that always order with them- and never complain I thought that was TERRIBLE customer service! We will now never be ordering from here again!!

Delicious food and great delivery service ! Polite and on time . Not parsimonious with the meat; plenty of soft and well prepared lamb and chicken with gorgeous sauces . We ordered two house specials . Chicken Khushbu & Sylheti both were a house delicacy . We had mushroom rice and Kashmiri rice . Will definitely order from them again . This will be my “go to “ Indian restaurant for my Indian takeaways . Well done all and thank you .

We have been customers of this takeaway for over 10 years and have always chosen this takeaway over others in the area.. We ordered tonight a delivery for three of us (£55) and half way through the dinners which were good, hot and tasty, two of us found two black hairs in both of our chicken baltis which really put us off eating the rest of the food. We called the takeaway to complain and ask for a refund and the person who answered did not seem interested or believed us, refused to give a refund, blamed it on just eat! We asked what his hygiene protocol was, ie hairnets and he said yes they had ‘health and safety’. We had to end the call because he flatly refused to do anything about it. A real shame but having now read some of the other reviews on here it seems this place has gone down the pan!! Avoid!

Delivery time quoted as 6.40-7.00. Phoned restaurant at 7.25, food still not left ! Arrived 7.40. Not good enough.

Lovely food The popadums were placed on top of the hot food so they were soggy when they arrived and we had to throw them away.

Great food best Indian in Ashford.

Food arrived barely warm. However the heat from the spicing was far too much. I don’t know if there is a new chef as previous orders been good. The food was so spicy it was inedible. We had lamb Dhansak and King Prawn curry both equally too hot to eat. Really disappointed and unfortunately ‘your only as good as your last plate’ we won’t be ordering again

Have had a couple of takeaways from here now and both times they have been delicious. The portions are generous and flavoursome making it good value for money.

Food was very late tried contacting the restaurant they kept hanging up on me when I asked about my food which had not arrived, when food finally arrived it was cold and tasted very bland and certainly overpriced for the quality of ingredients used, I will definitely not be returning to this shoddy restaurant.

Utterly disappointing! We have used spice garden for a few years now, they were always the most reasonably priced, and lovely food with easy service. In the last year when ever we order there’s always something, Whether it’s spending 20 minutes giving my post code (it constantly being read back to me incorrect) then them going to the wrong house (this was a few times) and always late. Tonight I called at 5.25pm, not a busy time so I thought, was told my order would take 40-60 minutes… 2 hours and 15 minutes and a call later, our food is here… minus a dish. When called she didn’t have a clue what I meant at first and then just said “yea it’s busy I didn’t write it down”.. she read my order back when ordering and it was correct? EVERYTIME there seems to be something and this time is going to be the last time, there’s plenty of amazing Indian take aways, I’d rather pay the extra and know it’s going to be perfect each time, not the circus we get with spice garden.

Estimated time of delivery 18.25 to 18.45. I called twice, each time I was told the food would arrive in a few minutes. Finally arrived at 19.30. Food here is usually delicious and piping hot. This evening it arrived like-warm, and the popadoms which must have been in the insulated box with our order had gone limp. Once we heated the food up, it was again delicious, but why suggest a delivery time frame, then deliver at least thee quarters of an hour late?. It will be a long time before I consider using them again- Such a shame.

Dreadful service. Have used for a number of years on collection and very good. Moved house and switched to delivery, beyond awful. Say 50mins delivery, 3 hours still waiting. They are not interested. Said if food cold they’ll refund but not if late. Really shocking and disappointing, won’t be using them again, this is the second time they’ve done this and quite simply they just don’t care.

The food is good, the service is beyond awful! Used them for a long time, always on collection. Moved and used them for delivery - awful and really don’t care, find it funny! Ordered 5.30 told 50 mins, Waited 2/3 hours, told if food turns up cold they’ll refund but not if 2 hours late. Really really awful and wouldn’t use them again. Done this 3 times now. Such a shame.

I ordered my food which was only 2 dishes and a naan bread at 18.00pm it stated it would be delivered at 19.30 I called at 19.45 as the app said it was delivered which it had NOT!! They said 15 minutes and sorry but I did not receive my meal till 20.30pm the boxes were damaged and had leaked everywhere and the food was cold I had to re heat everything not happy at all.

Still lovely and hot nice meal

We were given a delivery time of 1 hour and ten minutes but it was 1 hour and 30 minutes and wasn’t that hot when it arrived. We received a text 2 minutes before the predicted delivery time to say it was an it’s way so it took 22 minutes for a journey that should have been 10 minutes at most. I know how long it takes as my son lives about 2 minutes away from the premises.

Our first time ordering from Spice Garden and even though they are just outside our neighbourhood we would definitely be going back there again. Food was delicious, portion sizes large and food was hot. A very good first experience.

Waited 2 hrs, arrived cold, and had loaded peas in rice when asked for none. The curry was mainly liquid about 6-8 tiny pieces chicken couldn’t even see until scooped out. Only refunded rice, Used to use these all the time won’t be again

Very poor indeed, felt diddled by their business practices and their attitude.....first time I ordered they missed off 2 items ...they said they would give me a free item on my next order...they did give me a free item, but then decided / refused NOT to give me the 10% discount for cash that was standard, and marked up in the store, and then charged me for the salad and dips that they give free anyway. The food quality had also deteriorated along with the potion sizes......definitely won’t be using them again.....please be careful in dealing with this establishment........

I have had meals from here for several years now and have been very pleased with the flavours, quality and affordable prices. I like the fact that the curries are traditional to curries I had from Indian restaurants from forty years ago!. Never been disappointed.

Earliest was 7pm, latest was 7.20pm. It arrived at 7.42pm

Food was excellent , tasty and piping hot, i carried on eating- well past the stuffed point!! Unfortunately, it was 40 mins later than the estimated time. I don't mind a little later as it's only an estimate but do think 40mins is a bit excessive.

Sadly, we had the wrong items delivered. We ordered mushroom Bhaji but received mushroom rice instead- this is the third or fourth time this has happened which is a bit disappointing.

I, a committed member of the indian community, being proud of my ethnic background, am slightly disappointed with the outcome of this meal. I work hard, striving in this minority society, to gain my hard-earned cash and yet i feel ashamed to have spent it on this meal. For starters, the naan bread and tikka curry was too sweet to satisfy my mouth-watering desire to reconnect with my home country, and the mixed grill was an entire portion too small to please my indian hunger. Despite this, I was able to thoroughly enjoy the mixture of flavours swirling on the tips of my tongue for the remainder of the meal and I am glad that the meal wasn't too late, considering being indian. Furthermore, I quite enjoy the name of your restaurant as it brings me joy. The logo needs some work though..

Usually good, this time it was not. Rice cold and sticky like out of a packet. Bhajis stone cold and cooked to death, Naan either burnt or cold (frozen)

Really disappointing. 45 minutes late. They sent it to the wrong house and I was asked to go and get it from the house it was wrongly delivered too. Definitely wasn't going to be doing that especially in the Covid world we live in these days. Eventually when the manager of the shop spoke to me he sent out a new order. They got it to me very quickly but because of their initial error they rushed this second order and the food really wasn't good. The poppadoms were soft, a lot of the food was lukewarm. (Luckily I've got a microwave). When I answered the door to the deliverer they sent their kids to the door, I assume this was just incase I was going to be angry for their error. The lady who delivered my food blamed the kids for her mistake saying she lost concentration. I would not have got angry because I'm not that type of person I just think it is extremely unprofessional sending your children to the door and then blaming them. I know I shouldn't have done but I expected maybe something extra chucked into the order for the inconvenience however that didn't happen. Overall not satisfied one bit. Would not order from here again wish I spent a bit more and went elsewhere.

Telephone call twice, then delivery driver went 22 doors up and expected me with a house full of children to go searching for her.

Hi had a takeaway last night the 30 12 2021 it was tasty and hot but really disappointed with the chicken/sauce ratio about 4 bits of small chicken in my balti and 4 really small pieces in my tandoori starter for the money was very disappointed but it was nice just meagre

We live a 5 min drive from here. It was 45 mins late. When I rang restaurant after 20 mins late they said it was on its way. 45 mins later driver rang to say they were outside but in actual fact they were 3 streets away. The driver then said they had been driving around for an hour. (My phone num was attached) The actual food was lovely as usual.

They packed the wrong dish for me so I couldn’t eat it.

Please beware that their prices online are not accurate as when you pick it up you are informed due to unstable times they have put price's up. We use it when we want an Indian but surely that's illegal to show one price online znd then charge you a different price when you go in the restaurant.

Disappointed that I didn’t have any of the accompaniments that you normally get with the onion bhaji, needed to put into microwave to warm up main course. Probably due to the late delivery

Called after order was 20 minutes late. It eventually arrived at 7:50, half an hour late. The food was barely lukewarm and the naan bread stone cold.
