Simla Indian Takeaway in Portsmouth

no longer simla as they have permanently closed and now new taj mahal takes their orders

Normally impressed, but few times they’ve missed my mint sauce so I put on the order please don’t forget my mint sauce; I wouldn’t buy onion bhajis if I knew I wouldn’t get it called up, 20 minutes later they bring it and if that was my restaurant I wouldn’t literally take a dip to cold onion bhajis it wasn’t my fault you forget nor don’t read!!! Really disappointed tonight! No more curry for me

I've used Simla for like 20 years, food's quite nice and reasonably priced. Tony is always friendly, i've had one iffy meal in all that time and it was a day that Tony wasn't there so I just put it down to new staff.

Very poor, sauce was like water with a few bits of dry chicken

Half of our food was missing and what we did receive was very poor standard using the sauce of my spicy curry and adding a load of cream to it to make a butter chicken, disgusting is putting it pleasantly

Food came luke warm, found a black hair in my food (me and my partner have blonde hair so wasn’t ours), rice was submerged in water and a bag containing one crunched up popadom was given. Very disappointing, waste of money. Don’t go here.

The food was delicious but they did forget one of the dishes that was rectified in 10 minutes after phone call. Could have done better than a popadom as compensation for mistake.

Chips were apparently nice, but the curry was awful. Korma didn’t even really taste of coconut and it was super watery. Won’t be ordering from here again.

Sorry, food was okay but luke warm when arrived, somewhat disappointing for what l paid, won’t order again as there’s so much more Indian restaurants / takeaways to chose from in my area.

Been eyeing a particular item on menu for months, finally ordered a takeaway to be delivered at 1810, delivery arrived at 1830, food was tasty but luke warm, bread was chewy but overall not particularly impressed, sorry but won’t be in a rush to return to Simla, lots of other takeaways that offer a prompt delivery & hot food order.

Ordered before from them had 3 bits of chicken in curry but it was nice and tasty so I gave them another go again, but Tasteless and no mango chutney will not use again !!

We always order from here, the last order we didn't get our naan and never complained and this order our dhansak came and it was naga strength. The response from just eat was different restaurants have different strengths but we always get a dhansak from here. We threw it away because it was just too hot.

No mint sauce, tikka was very very sweet. Meal was only like warm

Normally my first to go to 5 star takeaway, but this time not quite up to usual standard. Although very tasty ,it seemed different from usual ,and quite cold. Special fried rice missing ingredients.

We always used Simla....but they now deliver very small portions and they are not the cheapest...food quality is good....not sure what has happened....we now use the Ghandi in North End......you won't get a better Curry or Value for Money....Sorry Simla, we have always been regulars of yours , but you need to up your Game...

Was really tasty … lamb was A tiny bit chewy but the flavour of the patia sauce was incredible so I don’t care. Grilled fish starter is also mouth watering 👌 Thank you

Missing mint sauce for the onion barjis, dinner arrived Luke warm. Onion barjis were dry.

This place is a recent find for us since moving! Lovely portions and quality food. The guy also chased us down the street with the mint sauce as they forgot to include it - nice touch!

I ordered a can of coke and ended up with Pepsi, twice that has happened now, not too pleased.

Sorry but food was bad, rated 5.3 on just eat! poppadom was floppy and old, the “chefs special aloo Jhul” “succulent chicken” - very dry and tasteless “spicy hot and full of flavour” literally the most flavourless curry I have ever eaten, and as for spicy 😂 who describes this? Waste of money, restaurants in this city are very bad.

Easily the best Indian I’ve ever tasted in Portsmouth. The flavours in the dishes are just amazing. Will definitely order from there quite regularly now.

We've been using this restaurant for several years and have been consistently happy with the food and service.

I think they forgot to put the chicken in the curry , 5 small chunks of chicken , a lot of sauce but other than that was ok , nothing to brag about , but I don't think I will be ordering again anytime soon

This place is the best curry place in Portsmouth. Hands down. This evening we ordered, didn’t realise that I didn’t switch the address back from the last time I used just eat so when the driver called to say he was outside and I realised I messed up he came and dropped it off no fuss no problem, food was still perfectly warm

Lovely curry, really tasty - had a bengali chilli fusion (hot and tasty - has chicken in if anyone wondering) and prawn bhuna. Free poppodums (as usual). Also had free complimentary onion bhajis thrown in due to a previous minor missing item (resolved quickly at time). Can't fault service - was excellent!

As much as we love early delivery, we had timed it to coincide with another delivery.. so THAT didn't work out!

We buy from here on a regular basis, food is most times lovely. Have noticed that a service charge & delivery now added to bill.

Superb again. We were trying to work out why Simla's curries are so good and I think personally that the onion is cooked to perfection - really sweet, full of flavour, such a good blend of spice and flavour, really enjoyable.
