Seine Rigger continuously deliver on quality. The best fish and chips in the area! We recently ordered 40 plus portions of fish and chips for a 70th birthday party. The food was the same exceptional quality and remained hot. Thank you, you made a lot of people very happy.

I live locally. Have been using the Seine Rigger for years. Sadly the food has continued downhill in the last six months. I was first in at 5:00pm today so you'd anticipate fresh chips, attached is a photo of what I was given. I had stopped having chips because they were so bad but I relented today. I won't be going back. My advice; Avoid this place

We sat inside to eat, we normally get a takeaway. Lovely attentive service from Sam, and lovely food as always.

Decided to eat in, which we hadn't done before, instead of having the car smelling of Chip shop for a week. One meal was very nice, the other was very disappointing. Roll and butter to accompany meal was clearly not fresh that day. When enquiries made by waiting staff, as leaving half a plate of food was noticeable, it wasn't a positive reaction. Just brushed off and no real concern registered by the staff. Re the meals, although eating in, chips weren't very hot, have driven home 2 miles from there and chips were hotter. Batter was greasy. If it had been the first visit, wouldn't be going back. We will buy takeaway only as much better value. X2 regular fish lot and cup of T. £30 ??.

Popped in today for a “snack” portion of chips. I was greeted by 2 really friendly lady members of staff. They were so lovely and engaging! Always were the best fish n chips and still are. By the way my portion of chips were a massively generous size! Thank you ladies x

Went here for a quick meal, and ordered a regular fish and chips. Got a very generous portion of fish (huge!) with the perfect crispy batter, chunky crisp chips, a heap of mushy peas, tartare sauce and a lemon wedge. Classic done well. I’ll be back soon!

I had a takeaway yesterday evening the fish was great, but the chips were awful - over cooked, dried out, no flavour, so bad. The fish on my plate was even embarrassed. I won't be going back and wouldn't recommend. Such a shame :(

Got some take away chips but had to throw most of them away. Full of black bits. Attention to quality needed.

I hate to write bad reviews but honestly this is not fast food waited in the shop for over 25 mins for a 4 item order I had just 3 customers in front of me,!! I know it's fresh but what takes soo long ?? They then served a lady who ordered after me before me she even looked embarrassed as I had been standing there soo long to get home to a tasteless awful sausage the chips were ok but if you haven't got all evening to waste go elsewhere!!!!!

This has changed owners i used to only use this fish shop as they used nut oil and not cheap alternatives. Always fresh chips? Visited today could taste different oil, they now use palm oil which is not only bad for you but nad for the enviroment also chips were stale. Au revoir to another decent place

Worst chips I have ever tasted. No salt and vinegar which I asked for, dry with no taste whatsoever. Well over priced for the size of portion and totally tasteless. Avoid at all costs.

We have just had fish and chips from our local shop . We have been coming here for years ! It was 7 pm on a Friday and there was Nobody in the shop !!!! Wanted large cod and chips but was told that they only had regular cod ( at 7pm on a Friday night ??) . Bought the regular cod and large chips home but the chips were no way large !! There was barely enough for 2 of us . Very disappointing. To be empty on a Friday night …. Pretty obvious lots of other people feel the same

The seine rigger is an excellent place to get fish and chips for lunch and dinner. Its only ten minutes walk away from my home. I often go there when its not raining It's a bit expensive at £14 08 for a large cod and large chips but I don't mind paying that because the quality is good. Paul Reeves

First time coming here today as I was recommended by a friend and have been meaning to stop by to try the food. I purchased a large portion of chips with a curry sauce. On taking my order I said salt and onion vinegar and when the lady was doing my chips she put normal vinegar on them and I had to throw the chips away. I didnt want to make a scene or embarrass the lady so i didn't say anything. I hate normal vinegar and the curry sauce was warm and not hot. I hate to complain but I thought I'd give my honest feedback. Thank you

Utterly rubbish quality, avoid this place unless you like eating your food 1 disappointing bite after another. The Nork Way Seine Rigger used to be well known locally to be fantastic. Used to be great when the owners would put decent quality food first. Apparently been sold to deep blue, a chain that seems to use JJ cash and carry budget range, yet charge premium prices for it. Sad, Dry Chips: They were limp, lifeless, and dry as Jacobs crackers. It's like they had been sitting around for ages, waiting for someone to rescue them from their misery. I wanted light, fluffy chips, that smelled of vinegar, but what I got were sad excuses for chips that belonged in the bin, and no vinegar as it had dissapeared into the sawdust that was shaped into chips. Roadkill sausage: If you enjoy the idea of eating something that resembles a soggy pillow filled with questionable mystery meat, this is the sausage for you. But if you prefer your sausages to have actual substance and flavor, I'd recommend running in the opposite direction. It's a true champion in the category of "culinary disappointments." Not the restaurant staffs fault, more corporate greed. Put this place out of its misery.

Always really nice,, since Changing hands not nice at all, had an order for 5.15 very over cooked chips hard as if recooked from the afternoon won't go there again fish you couldn't even cut through

I live very local to this place and always come here. Never have the chips ever tasted SO horrid. They tasted as if they had been re-cooked in old oil and they were WAY TOO thickly cut, and seems as if some chips hadn’t been cooked long enough (which is weird because they were clearly old chips which were re-fried)! I’ve lived in Nork since Jan2021 and this has only ever happened twice before, they normally get it right. I don’t know if the chef was having a bad day, but I was NOT happy. Friday evening take away ruined. And my daughter didn’t even finish it where she normally cleans the plate. Such a waste of money! I will try here one more time before trying another chippy. Very annoying as this is the only one in walking distance!

I went to the seine rigger for my lunch and ordered large chips. I enjoyed eating them. They put salt and vinegar on them which always makes them taste better I would recommend this place for a quick lunch especially if you live locally. .

I often go to the Seine Rigger for my dinner and have always found the staff very helpful and welcoming. I always ask for salt and vinegar on my chips and have never been disappointed with the service. The cod is a bit on the small side but nonetheless tasty. Have to was very disappointed with the food I had ordered the sausage was very uncooked chips were over cooked the chicken breast was dry and the cod was very greasy and thin for the prices this company now charge I expect a better quality of food and cooking of it

Food was very good. The reason I gave it 3 /5 was simply because of the attitude of the member of staff when we arrived at 8.15 pm. As we walked in we were told they were closed, “oh we thought you closed at 9.00pm” we replied. “We do but we will be out of the door at 9pm” I replied “are you saying you haven’t got a table?” “We’ll yes we have ( the restaurant was empty) but we’ll be gone at 9pm” I’m pleased that Seine Rigger is doing so well that it can turn away business, as it turned out, we had eaten and paid by 8.45, so no need for the rudeness.

Living locally, and now being post-pandemic, I’ve had the opportunity to visit Seine Rigger twice in the past six months for supper in their restaurant. Last night my partner & I booked a very last minute table for two for a relatively early supper. It’s always been nice to have the option of eating in as well as grabbing a takeaway. Friday nights are usually very busy with takeaway orders and last night seemed quieter than expected. I do wonder if this is because of the change of ownership that has happened in the past year or so. Anyhow we enjoyed our fish & chips, which were tasty and definitely not dripping in oil as per a previous Trip Advisor review. Service was polite. Recommended.

This was always an expensive fish and chip shop but I never minded because it was always fantastic food. However, this is no longer the case. The staff are now very unfriendly bordering on rude. The wait time is ridiculously long and when it eventually arrives, the food is luke warm, dripping in oil and tasteless!!!!’

Went for early supper. Enjoyed good cod & chips with mushy peas. Decent batter on the dish and chips ok too, all hot enough. Lovely lady serving us as well.

Went for takeaway. Was told 20 mins and then sat waiting for 30 mins more once we got there. No apology. Fish was Luke warm and stodgy. Chips not much better. Threw half of it away.

We travel half hour to enjoy Seine Riggers fish and chips! It's always so busy (which is a good sign) and we either eat in or take-away. Batter is light, fish is never dry and the chips are spot on! Will always stay loyal to this plaice.

Just had a lovely meal here tonight. There were 4 of us. Food was great, puddings lovely and had a lovely young man serve us - thank you Taylor. Rum and Raisin ice cream was the best I've ever had. Other reviews have said fish is soggy but not the case at all for us - it was perfect.

Visited Seine Rigger for lunch. I was surprised that we were the only customers. Having been a regular customer for many years I can confirm that the food is as good as it used to be. Fresh fish and tasty chips. Hopefully next time we visit we'll be lucky to get the last table!

I had heard the standard of the food had gone down, but I was prepared to see for myself. The fish was not very meaty like it used to be and chips are not the same. So unfortunately I’m going to have to find another fish and chip shop, which is a great shame as I have been using this shop for years. Even though it is expensive, I was prepared to pay for the quality.

This fantastic Fish bar in Nork part of Banstead served top quality Fish and chips for a very long time. Sadly, I have noticed that the quality of fish and chips have gone down. They used top quality groundnut oil for frying. Since the restaurant has been taken over by a chain things have slid and prices have increased. Will need to look elsewhere.

This place used to sell outstanding fish and chips. But something has happened here and the standard has dropped significantly. If it’s a change of ownership I hope it’s just a temporary glitch. My chips were cold and soggy and the scampi was nowhere near as good as before.

We got a take away from here last night. On previous occasions the fish was really fresh and crispy. However, last night all the fish was saturated in oil, grey in colour and soggy plus the chips were under cooked. Definitely won’t be going back again. . .

Well, having moved here a few months ago, we'd heard it was the best chippy for miles! As such, I really wanted to like the place, and because it's the only chippy that's local. We've given it a fair crack with at least four visits, but no! It's bland at best. The cod fish fillet tonight was overcooked and dry. Generally, the fish has very little flavour anyway. The chips are generally OK. The cod fishcake - I struggled to find the cod, so at best, I can describe it as a battered (why?) deep-fried unseasoned potato ball. (The fish cakes I've had in my many years are always breadcrumbed!) The scampi wasn't anything to write home about, and we've previously tried burgers, where the meat patty was probably reheated in a microwave as it was brittle and dry, salvaged only by my adding onion, and tomato!! But at least it wasn't undercooked! It's a shame the Major Plaice, Ewell, is so far away now!

Not sure what has happened to Seine Rigger or is it Deep Blue? It seems a change of ownership has led to a significant deterioration of quality. Fish less fresh and the chips were hard. Such a shame, was by far the best fish and chips before!

I’d heard great things about Seine Rigger. We tried it for the first time a month or so back and were disappointed (no choice of fish, fish and chips soggy and tasteless). It was busy so we put it down to that. I thought I’d give them another try today. At 7pm they told me they couldn’t take my order as they’d run out of chips! That’s it- never again! They must be living on past glories. Such a shame!

Nice staff, nice food, clean and tidy but i felt as if I'd been mugged, i paid just over £20 last month, tonight the same food order was £33. 50% increase over all is not funny.

We only moved to Coulsdon in 2019 and recommended this place by friends in the area. Initially great and by the far the best local chip shop we had found however over the past 6 months the service and attention to detail has been terrible....

A local chippie, they usually have Huss where others don't, but our slight misgiving are the chips. Appreciate that chips are a personal thing so don't get hung up over that: the Huss was very good indeed.

Very nice fish and chips 🍟. Not greasy good portions. Friendly service. Good plus for me gluten free Mon. Tue and Wed. I'm personally pleased that they are open again. Highly recommended.

I thought I would try Seinne Rigger as the reviews looked so good, unfortunately after 2 times here I can say the chips are not good, under cooked, dry, and small portions for the price.

This is the standard that other Chippies struggle to match. Order Cod, and actually get Cod, not pollock or some other white fish (Hello Banstead High St). Superb quality, you get what you pay for.

We have used this chip shop twice the second time we got fish and chips from them everyone that had the fish ended up with food poisoning my grandad ended up in hospital and food poisoning was confirmed!! I spoke with the owner and he was rude and said you cannot get food poisoning from fish I know 100% it was the fish because it was the only thing we had eaten the same as we don't all eat the same dinners normally. I would highly recommend not using this chip shop I for sure won't be going there again.

I call this unique place many times because I enjoy the special air that is unique to this restaurant. The staff is highly loving and experienced. The service is very fast. Also, the food you get is excellent. I frequent often and I was never disappointed. The pay is reasobable. I suggest this place to to all.

Have ordered from here regularly. The chips are great, and the fish reasonably good. Unfortunately the calamari have a thick batter that tastes like dough, which is a shame as I’ve had much better elsewhere. Just a real shame that the ordering process is chaotic....

Fab local chippy, my father has not gone anywhere else for over40 years. Cant say better than that!
