The White Hart in Reigate and Banstead

Family lunch- very busy on a Sunday, staff good and friendly. A few of our group had the chicken and also the pie which was good I am told. The roast was just ok, not as good as many other places. Starters and desserts were good. Shame the roast was a let down especially at the price it was. Will come again but not for Sunday roast.

Sunday lunch meal with the family. Food was quite expensive for what it was. Main issue was the the service. Mains took about 1 hour to appear after ordering. Servers didn't seem particularly engaged. There are a number of other options in the area and won't return.

Unfortunately this pub is suffering from serious delusions of grandeur. OK the food is quite good but can be quite predictable. However I take great exception when ordering a pint of Peroni and being charged £6.50 I mean really??? It’s just a Peroni..!! They have consistently increased their prices well beyond inflation and have definitely lost business. Cynical.

Went for Sunday roast. The pub was overcrowded. They had run out of lamb. The pork was miserable. The veggies were flavourless. The gravy thin. Service slow. And it was overpriced.

This is a great pub, best in the local area. Friendly and welcoming. Lots of dining areas but a good sizeable bar area where you are free to come in and have a drink, Food is good, good quality and reasonably priced. Been many times and keep going back. Highly recommended.

First time visiting this pub and wow was I impressed. This was a family meal to celebrate a birthday. 14 people, so a large group, with 1 waitress in particular who very attentive Laura. Food was to a very high standard. Present well and generous portions. Everyone was happy with their choice of food. I had the crispy beef salad which was very tasty. Most of the party had a pudding and a hot drink. Again we could not fault them. The artic slice went down well. Again the presentation of this pudding was on point. Overall we had a fantastic time. Laura was excellent. I would definitely recommend and I will be returning.

Came here in a family party of six for a Christmas lunch and what a fantastic meal we had 5 of us had the two course set Christmas meal and the other person used the main menu with 3 of my party having pudding the restaurant part of this pub was nicely laid out and very cosy and warm with a beautiful real fire going the service and food was excellent the food being plentiful and hot thanks very much to Georgia our table server for all her help who really looked after us making sure we had everything we had a great afternoon and look forward to returning in the New Year would highly recommend.

I love this pub, it’s my local pub, staff very friendly all of them, particularly Holly, George, Jess, Claudette, very pretty, great service, could do a bit more promotion re events , I do have one big BUGBEAR though, why can’t we have the open fire lit in the bar! It’s lit in the restaurant, but in my lowly opinion, I feel it would bring it up to 5 stars , such a simple thing 🤷‍♀️plus it’s a bit cold in there sometimes

Ive visited the Whoiet Hart several times but just for drinks and it always seemed to be busy and have a good vibe. We decided to hold a friends christmas gathering here, ot was more than terrible , it became a joke. We were a table of 6, when we sat down just one menu was given to us to share. We asked for the waitress to provide us with some more please, she just stodd there looking at us, she asked if she could take out order to which she then twigged we werre sharing a menu she siad 'oh pergaps i should get some more' we ordered drinks whilst we looked at the menu, this then took just over 1 hour for our drinks to arrive, we asked for table water too we didint get this till half way though our mains. Half way through the mains we wanted some more drinks so i thought id go direct to the bar and also speak to the manager , he said that they were under staffed and that he was leaving next week too, apologised . I would understand if it was super busy but there were only 6 tables in the dining room (we were the biggest party) and there were 3 other people in the bar. To wait over an hour for the first drink is ridiculous. The food was lovely i cant fault the food for main course. Dessert order was taken with a few of us ordering hot drinks, 2 of these were never brought and we gave up the will to ask for them . Id said to the manager on the initial complaint or it takes is for the waitress to inform us there will be a delay or to check in to see if she could get us anything else etc. A group of women clearly celebrating the festive season we would of indulged in quite a few drinks , but we only drank 2 each as no one cared to see if we would like more. unfortunately none of us will be returning for a meal, shame as i live in the area and thought it was a great village pub . Hopefully the new manager will give the staff some training .

The wait staff were pretty much the only good thing about this restaurant. Really lovely service and made the experience much better overall. I would say it's incredibly overpriced for what it is. I paid £13 for a tiny sandwich with no sides. Whilst it was a tasty sandwich it wasn't worth that amount of money. We waited an hour and a half on a random Wednesday lunch time to recieve said sandwich. Our bill between 3 of us came to over £80 and we were left hungry afterwards. Its a beautiful pub and the staff are great but would not go again.

Spoilt by such slow service on a Wednesday night. Booked early for 7.00pm. Waited half an hour for a drink - 2 glasses of wine and water. After finished our main course waited again for plates to be cleared and Had to ASK for dessert menu. Finally left pub at 9.15pm. Over 2 hours for a main, small pud/coffee!

Good God, where do I start. We have eaten in here a few times and have always had a fantastic meal. But not this evening. We arrived to our pre-booked table, ordered some drinks and had a look at the menu. On the menu was a message saying there would be no chips on the menu, only fries. What!!! If you have time to type up a menu,then surely you have time to pop to the local supermarket and buy some frozen chips, or god forbid make some out of potatoes even, just for one night. We chose our various meals and waited. We did not wait long as withen five minutes we all had our meal infront of us, which rang a alarm bell. To start, the two who ordered the Butter milk chicken burger with fries. both burgers and fries were barely warm. So obviously been pre-cooked and kept warm. They left the Broccoli out of one of the other meals, and forgot the cheese on the steak burger. But then curling around my tongue, I pulled out from my mouth a long blond hair. Disgusting. We called the waitress over who apologised, and asked me if I would like another one, and said the manager would come over(they did not) I waited about 15 minutes. By then my fellow dinners had nearly finished there meal. Mine then arrived piping hot, how it should have been,confirming my earlier suspicions. It was my retirement dinner. One that we will never forget. They did not charge me for my meal that had the hair in it. Our family have used the White Hart many times, all being excellent. It may have been a off night as other people were taliking about there meals.

Table booked for Sunday lunch 2pm, 2 people. Waited 50 minutes until our roast dinners arrived. No cauliflower cheese (if it’s an option on the menu it should be available). Honey roasted carrots ordered instead, almost raw. Apologetic staff but unacceptable delay. Won’t be rushing back. Very disappointing.

Good service, lovely menu and food in a pretty location - lots of nearby walks to work up an appetite.

We visited White Hart for dinner on 16 August (special occasion). We all thoroughly enjoyed our meals and the staff went the extra mile to ensure that we had a great time. My husband particularly recommends their wild boar pie! Thank you to all the staff who contributed to making the occasion special.

We called last evening for a quiet drink in a beautiful country pub only to be greeted by 3 middle aged men and a woman all drunk at the bar who were so loud it was unbearable. And the language was foul. Disgusting behaviour

We hosted a pre wedding dinner for 21 people last Friday. I cannot say enough good things! The service was fantastic, the food and cocktails were excellent. The planning for the dinner was so easy too. I understand there are a lot of white hart pubs - make sure you pick the one in chipstead!! Tara

This is a favourite local pub - always love a visit. The chicken burger is a favourite! We have brought our friends and family to this pub and always look forward to our next visit :-)

A splendid, relaxed, meal between performances at the Courtyard Theatre. 11 of us booked our meals in advance. Drinks and food were served quickly and cheerfully, and all of us were completely satisfied with our meal.

Lovely return visit. All the staff are lovely, particularly Jack, who made us feel very welcome. He is a great asset to the pub and restaurant. He was very professional and had a lovely cheeky sense of humour. Top marks Jack, we'll be back! Food is good too!

Love this pub! Staff are great, atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. The white wine is the best. We didn’t eat this time but have done on numerous occasions and it never fails to impress. Special thanks to Niamh for being so lovely behind the bar! We’ll be back soon :-)

Four of us had lunch after doing a walk in the local area. The service was excellent in every facet. The deputy manager, who brought the food and cleared away, was exceptionally friendly and helpful. There was a very good choice of different beers and the food was excellent quality. Being a mid-week lunchtime, it was not particularly busy, but there was a good atmosphere and the pub is very pleasantly decorated and furnished.

It was easy to make a booking online. Lovely location, but not easy to reach by public transport. Smart pub and beautiful outdoor covered seating too. Very friendly staff. As there was a long wait for our meals, we were offered drinks on the house, which was a lovely gesture. Original menu and the meals were delicious. Would highly recommend the pork loin in rioja jus. Would love to come back for some more!

After an hour of promises for food that never arrived, we left. Woefully understaffed: 2 waitresses struggling to serve circa 60 covers. No idea how many in the kitchen, but clearly not enough.

Visited here yesterday. Upon arrival there’s a large car park, making on the entrance/exit ground to ensure social distancing. Staff were friendly and timely, and the food was really tasty. We’ll definitely return when in the area.

After trying similar initiatives with other local pubs we were a little sceptical of how this would be, but we needn't have worried!We pre-ordered for collection at 17:00, it was ready bang on time served in recyclable containers and carrier bags, all items in individual boxes so you can warm up if needed. We actually didn’t need to, food was perfectly warm and excellent quality, it was just like eating there but in the comfort of our own home!Highly recommend as an alternative option if you're not comfortable mixing with other people.The only downside was I wish I’d ordered dessert too :-)Well done The White Hart!

We arrived as a family of six for my husband’s birthday At 6 p m with a well organised warm welcome. The service was excellent and the food perfect, we all enjoyed our starters especially the halloumi and spicy tomato dip. Clear plates all round after our mains and we recommend the chicken pie and buttermilk chicken burger. Puddings were also perfect so thank you very much. The pub has been well adapted for current circumstances.

Remember when it had the red room. Food amazing and plentiful. Visited yesterday. A belated Birthday meal. The safety arrangements really good. Pub very spacious. Sat in pub part would have preferred restaurant. Very quick to take drink orders. Too quick really as no drinks menu on table. Didn’t get to order food for 45 minutes. Seemed to be one staff member taking all orders and taking payments. The rest just bring food out which made service slow. Finally it arrived and apart from one meal not worth the wait. Chicken dry, coleslaw runny, sea bass dried out. On plus side Malaysian chicken curry was good. Vegetables nice. Very long wait to pay the bill again because you had to wait for one staff member who was basically serving diners In restaurant and pub. Doing his best but this needs sorting White Hart. At £15 average for a main meal not exactly cheap

I was a regular at this pub for meals etc, and then we went in a couple of times and the manager had changed, and waiting times were really slow. I complained in Trip Advisor and the then manager wanted to phone me and have an argument about my trip... I HOPE THEY SACKED HIM, as this was appalling, he could not bear to hear the truth. We have not been back since. We will try again, hopefully the food and service times are better and hopefully the manager is better

Went to the white hart for my sons birthday, it was a great meal and fab service. Arrived and was escorted to the garden whilst waiting for our table. The staff were all wearing visors and we had to use hand sanitiser when we first arrived, this all instilled a sense of confidence. Food was great and the staff were attentive. There was a little mix up with our order and they couldn’t have been nicer about it and even treated us to a bottle of wine which was fabwould recommend it

We are regular customers of the White Hart, Chipstead and will continue to support such an outstanding pub. This is the fourth visit since reopening and as before lockdown every visit has been a pleasure. The atmosphere, the staff and the food are faultless. During this difficult time they have still upheld exemplary standards of service and provided a warm welcome back to customers old and new.

Went here last year by chance and loved it so tried to hunt it down again on a trip to the nearby mayfield lavender fields. Thankfully got a booking, was ample distancing. Ambience is lovely and cosy Lovely chicken burgers, so fresh. Really great service from a lovely lady who works there after being made redundant in the pandemic. Will come and support again.

Our first visit since before lockdown. Great to be back in this happy place and to see so many people there. The team are so welcoming and have clearly worked hard to make it safe and well-organised. The food, from an only slightly abridged menu, was excellent and the service was prompt, friendly and efficient. So good to be back!

We visited the White Hart as a treat and to take advantage of eat out to help out. After trying some other local pubs for dinner post lock down this was by far the best. The standard of food which was always good pre lockdown was also good which appears to be rare now! The starters were excellent and maybe slightly better than the mains.What made the visit more enjoyable was the excellent service which was attentive and very Covid secure. All staff were wearing shields With hand sanitisers throughout the pub and thorough cleaning been done after service. We were very impressed and will certainly go back soon. Thank you!
