My wife and I visited Sands for a Saturday evening meal. Although I didn't mention that it was our 44th wedding anniversary at the time of booking, somehow they knew. (One of life's mysteries!!!)On arrival, we were taken to a most beautifully decorated table in an intimate alcove of the restaurant. There were really "special" flowers placed on the table along with scattered petals and love hearts. We ordered our meal and just sat back and admired the scenery overlooking a beautiful golf course - what a setting.Our starters came out followed later by our main courses and desserts. All of which could only be described as superb and presented beautifully. After our meal, we were brought a bottle of Champagne (courtesy of the house) and 2 glasses with 2 white roses along side to continue our celebration. A real treat from start to finish and totally unexpected.A special mention must go to HANNAH - our waitress for the evening. She is credit to Sands. A really delightful girl who shines at front of house duties.And to Alex (the restaurant Manager) who was obviously behind all the surprises.Thank you to all the staff at Sands and to the Chef for making our evening so memorable.I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who has a celebration or just for an evening out in beautiful surroundings.

...just stopped for a quick meeting .. Christmas specials were fantastic! pork rolls with stuffing and apple sauce but the menu says different season dishes each day up until Chirstmas..

Bishopswood Cottage Bishopswood LaneThe best fish and chips I've had for a long time. The food is excellent and the staff very welcoming especially Sam and the lady with her. A lovely place to meet up with friends.

BroadlayingsWe arrived on time for our Sunday lunch booking. They were clearly busy but there's no real excuse for the very poor service we received. We were kept waiting at the bar for several minutes until someone finally showed us to our table. No-one took a drinks order so we got our own. We must have been waiting half an hour until our food order was taken and it would be another 40 minutes until it was finally delivered. I commented to the server that they shouldn't take the booking if they couldn't cope. Shortly after, the landlord came and suggested that I had been rude to his staff! The food was ok when it did arrive - typical pub lunch, but we will not be coming here again. I was shocked at just how poor the service was.
