Saffron in Sefton

Enjoyed our evening here. There was a nice buzz about the place (a busy Saturday night). Decent food including an interesting range of Nepalese dishes. And friendly attentive service. I’ve had some disappointing experiences with curry restaurants. This is one though I’ll return to - and recommend!

Great food as ever and very very reasonably priced. Very attentive and friendly staff who will accommodate changes/ additions to dishes on request. I’m not vegetarian but choose mainly vegetarian options when I visit as they are fantastic. One worth trying is the bhindi bhaji ( okra) from the veggie sides. Mains, channa masala with added spinach along with tarka dahl with a few tandoori roti, nutritious, tasty and filling. Great! I’ve been coming here for many years and never been disappointed with either the food or service. Thank you Ryan and your team, keep up the great work.

OMG!! 🥘 🤗 New Years Eve meal out at Saffron… I can’t believe any of the negative reviews. This has got to be one of the best curry houses in the UK… and it’s on our door step. My wife & I have been eating here for over 10 years & the food & service has been exceptional 🙌🎉… from the chef to the waiting staff. Such positive energy & beautiful food … always 🫶 peace & love for 2024 🤗

Tried the restaurant as we had seen so many positives. What a dissapointment! Service was great. My hubby's curry was more of a chinese meal than an indian. My chicken tikka masala was like a ready meal from a supermarket! Awful. Didn't want to cause a scene so paid and left. Never will we go back! 🤢

Great food with cosy atmosphere and great service!! Ordered lasan curry and began barta. Which was best I ever had in my life. Naan was great and rice. Didnt like onion kulcha. It was made into naan.

I am vegetarians I loved the paneer tikka and everything I had absolutely amazing.

As always absolutely amazing food & fantastic value! We’re regulars at Saffron and to be totally 100% honest we’d never go to any other Indian/Nepalese restaurant. The staff are so friendly & the manager/owner is always approachable, easy to talk to & will guide you on what he suggested based on what you like. All the starters are so tasty but if you want a treat try the lamb chops…..you won’t regret it trust me!!! For mains if you want a challenge I recommend trying the Sahara Chicken!!! Whatever you choose though you will never be disappointed, honestly this is the best kept secret for this style of food!!!!

A more informal, yet peaceful atmosphere due to the intelligent spacing between tables. The food is second to none, and the service perfect.

Not our 1st visit we went to celebrate my son's birthday, had a lovely evening. Very attentive staff who gave us great service. Well presented tasty food, not overly spiced as I don't like food that's too firey thoroughly enjoyed the evening. Certainly go again.

Absolutely fantastic ..........coming from a history of good curry restaurants we went to the Saffron for dinner and were absolutely delighted with he quality and service.Nothing was to much trouble we were well looked after with really great service and cooking.An explosion of taste in the mouth best describes our incredible meal and we so much look forward to our next visit where we will spend more time and enjoy every minute thank you so much and I only hope people reading this review will go and enjoy the fabulous experience

Good service good food. Went on reccomended take away. Not bad

First time visitor with a few mates as we just fancied a curry. While there are many familiar items on the menu Saffron's menu has many items I've not seen before. We went in early and it was reasonably busy but by the time we left there were only two tables still occupied. That is a shame because the food here is absolutely terrific. The service was prompt and the food was piping hot. Ive been to many 'curry houses' where as much as you love them its really only the spices that are hot. Not here, everything tasted fresh. We started with poppadoms because its against the law to go to a curry house and not have them. They were crisp and delicious and we wolfed them down so fast we ordered more. Starters I had the veggie Samosa that were crispy on the outside, lovely and moist on the inside, and nicely spiced. Served with a dipping sauce that wasn't named on the menu but was delicious. 2 of my fellow diners went for Himalayan lamb chops as a starter that was so generously proportioned many people could eat it as a main course. two clean plates testified to how good they were, but the portion size was to come back to haunt them. Our other friend went for the Nepalese dumplings that was also a generous portion. Mains were Chicken Hariyali, which didn't look particularly appetizing I will admit. It was covered in a coriander and green chilli green sauce. However, my fellow diner made short work of it. One went for the Chicken Bhuna that he couldn't finish, and another went for went for Chicken hot garlic Resunga that he described as 'fiery, and also couldnt finish. For both their main on top of the Lamb Chop starter had been a hill too high to climb. However, the staff were only too happy to pack up the leftovers to take home. I had another Nepalese dish called Chicken Manchurian that I can describe as utterly sensational. So good, I'm lost for superlatives. Deep fried battered chicken with garlic, ginger, peppers, spring onion and coriander. At first taste it is similar to a Chinese sweet and sour, however, give it a minute and the chilli and pepper heat comes running along to smack you in the face leaving a lovely tangy aftertaste. Highly recommended. 6.5 beers and a coke and came to £30 a head including tip. Superb value for money. On the way out one of the two remaining occupied tables had an Indian family enjoying a meal. That is a recommendation in itself. Give it a try the staff deserve it and you wont be disappointed.

Lovely local Indian restaurant- nice a d handy for home!

We have been visiting the Saffron as a family for years from weekly visits to special occasions. Over the years it has always been lovely food, lovely staff and a great atmosphere. We visited again this evening and everything was just perfect. The staff are so welcoming and always on hand to suggest new meals you may not have tried or a recommendation or pairing you may not have considered before. The food quality and flavours are just perfect and would highly recommend for anyone to try. Thank you Ryan and team as always, delicious.

This was our first meal at saffron as our usual Indian was closed for refurbishment. And we were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious, and the service was good. The cost was very reasonable, we highly recommend trying saffron.

First time here. Great food which was very tasty, reasonably priced and plenty of it. Staff was polite, friendly and took time to explain the meal. Restaurant was very clean and decor was nice. Certainly be going back in the future.

We discovered this restaurant by chance last year, so glad we did, food is amazing, you can taste the spices, recommended it to several friends and family, can’t wait to go again, portion sizes very generous. Staff very attentive.

Literally one of the best Indian restaurants in the world. Grew up in Liverpool, live abroad now- one of the first places me and my wife visit when we’re back in town! Highly recommend

Attentive service by the owners Very knowledgeable about the menu Although my request was not on the menu the chef’s prepared it for me, Lamb Keema Madras, and it was perfect and throughly superb My bread request was also not on the menu and they made that freshly too! Outstanding

a meal at Saffron has quickly turned into one of the things we look forward to most! The food is just so good. We’ve tried many of the Indian and Asian restaurants in north Liverpool, and none come close to Saffron. Beautiful, delicious food that you can tell has had so much love put into it. The 10% discount on takeaway means we enjoy it at home a little more often than we should, too! Try the Makhani Daal as a side with your curry, and perhaps one of their amazing naans too.

Absolutely fabulous. Delicious food. My only slight complaint is that the beer wasn't quite cold smooth enough. Other than that the evening was excellent.

Recently moved into the area and glad to say we have found our favourite Indian restaurant ,I can be a bit picky when it comes to good Indian cooking but everything was delicious, and a lovely mix of starter's and mains not just all the standard stuff on pretty much all menu's. Staff welcoming and attentive planning on another visit this evening 😊

Loads of vegan options. The customer service was second to none. While from the outside it looks like an ordinary takeaway, once we tasted the food we were so impressed. Each dish was unique and delightful.

Would definitely recommend! Consistently amazing food, a brilliant experience every time we have had takeaway, delivery, or eaten in. I even broke down outside one time and went in to seek warmth, they were so kind and even gave me some free bhajis whilst I waited for the breakdown guy.

I am from America and this was one of the best Indian restaurants I have been to in liverpool. I dream about the Lamb dumplings (I hope that is what they are called) and the dipping curry is amazing. I could drink it like water. This is a must visit if you are in the mood for Indian.

This review relates to the takeaway service. Absolutely tremendous Indian food with the added benefit of 20% off orders over £20 when you collect. Recommend ordering the food with a waiting time of about 30-40 minutes. Can't praise it highly enough 🙂

Very nice meal, probably not the best that Ive had but nice enough. Other members of my party seemed to enjoy theirs. Only critisisms would be that the sizzler came on a bed of what seemed like cabbage which seemed burnt to the bottom of the dish which made the meats have a burnt taste. I would have preferred sizzling onions as I think it would have been a better flavour and the shami kebab wasnt that nice flavoursome. As in a few previous reviews, I agree that the the pickle tray was a bit lack lustre, thin mango pickle and not great raita. My main, despite the description saying thick sauce- there was barely any sauce and the rice was average. Ive had lovely rice in the past from Indian restaurants, that really delicate flavoursome rice. On the positive, very friendly staff, tasty chicken. I would have mentioned to the staff, but my family don't like me doing that.

A lovely Indian restaurant with fab staff and great food. Plus Everest on tap and decent wine list. Try the momos simply stunning and the lamb chops just melted in the mouth. Best naan bread I have ever had to.

There was a party of seven of us and they kindly accommodated us at short notice. Everyone said how good the food was. I asked for something hot but not sweet and unfortunately it came like a sweet and sour. I was asked if I wanted it changed but stuck with my choice. I would recommend it but wouldn’t have it again - personally. Would we go back? We all said “definitely”.

It's well worth seeking out this restaurant, which is slightly off the beaten track in Crosby.Unassuming, extremely clean with excellent service.The dishes were authentic, full of taste and with good quality fish and meat.We had the chicken Hariyali and the Seabass curry with chickpeas.All the excellent quality, and not swimming in oil as some Indian restaurant love to do.Couldn't recommend this more.

Amazing food and service as always

First visit to Saffron, having read previous reviews my wife booked ourselves a table. We must say it's the best Indian meal we've had. The food was wonderful from the poppadoms with chutneys, the starters we delicious, my main lamb vindaloo and my wife's lamb rogan josh were tasty . The service was friendly and quick, the atmosphere was fantastic.Real value for money , the menu was extensive and very reasonably priced.So glad we booked will be returning soon and it's now our number one for future Indian meals can not wait to try the full range of the menu

Food is beautiful, staff are great

Found this restaurant last week and decided to give it a go. I was not disappointed because of the following:1 Great Welcome made to feel at home2 Courteous informative staff3 Prompt polite service4 Fresh tasty starters5 Amazing King prawn main course (one of the best I have ever tasted)6 well trained interesting and friendly staff I came away from this restaurant feeling fully satisfied, I genuinely cannot fault any part of the dining experience. Do yourself a favour and choose this restaurant.........

Stumbled upon this place and gave it a go. What a find! The food was perfection - fresh, ungreasy and packed with taste. The hosts were very friendly and we rated this as one of the best Indian/Nepalese meals we had ever had. And that is no exaggeration! My go-to restaurant in the North Liverpool area.

I was looking around the area looking for somewhere to eat and found Saffron by chance. We gave it a go and we were not disappointed.The food was just delicious. The vegetable samosas were unbelievable - richly packed and delicately spiced. The naan bread was fresh and ungreasy - with a beautiful taste to compliment the superb main courses.The hosts were very friendly and we enjoyed a good chat with them. It was the little touches too that set this place apart. (Cracking website too). My brother who was visiting from 'down south' was really impressed with this little gem in Waterloo. If Indian/Nepalese food is your thing, you have to try this place.

Good curry. It had good flavour but not sure if it was what I ordered. Or if this was a variation. Spices were good just too watery to my liking. Very pleasant staff and attentive.

I have only recently discovered Saffron and thought after having two delicious takeaways I need to write a review.First off the staff, whoever takes the call they are pleasant and cheerful, one of them said in the first call about the 20% off if you order £20 or over! First takeaway I had my fave Chicken Korma as a main with mushroom rice which was really tasty. Last night I ordered Butter Chicken which for me was a bit spicy cos I am a wuss, still delicious though. What I love is that you can tell the food is fresh. The onion bhajis are some of the best I’ve tasted and I’ve had a lot of Indian food. It’s a double edged sword discovering Saffron as I’m trying to lose weight but having this amazing place on my doorstep how can I not treat myself to this wonderful food. Staff are so cheerful, smiley and friendly when you go in as well, it can’t be easy in these times with Covid for restaurants wearing masks, social distancing etc but there is such a pleasant atmosphere. A real gem in Waterloo

I ordered 6 items for collection at an agreed time. Ten minutes later I got a call back to check on my order for special fried rice, which contains meat, as the other dishes were all vegetarian. That's the sort of attention to detail and excellent customer service to keep me coming back for their excellent cuisine. Go team Saffron!

We’ve eaten in Saffron a few times now after having takeaways delivered during lockdown. The quality of the food is always really high, and the service is excellent, and the service is very good too. The vegetarian dishes, especially the paneer passanda is delicious and I’d totally recommend you give this a try if you’re in the area.

We have had quite a few takeaways from Saffron since moving to the area in February. What really stands out to me is how accommodating they are - I need to eat gluten free and mostly vegan which usually makes ordering takeaway food impossible but here it is absolutely no bother. I've loved all of the vegan dishes I've tried so far and my meat eating family has also been super impressed. Each dish tastes fresh and unique. The service has also been flawless. A go to when we fancy a treat.

I love Indian but Saffron is just amazing. Authentic Indian / Nepalese quisine of a very high standard. Have been ordering for a few months and won't go anywhere else.Great customer service (tell them about your food allergies and they'll prepare almost anything to suit you), super tasty, great portions, quick delivery (or discount if collecting), reasonable price!

We recently moved to the area from south Liverpool and decided to have a delivery after a long day of decorating. They have a 5 star hygiene rating (at time of checking) and had a good selection of vegetarian food with many available on side dish portion sizes which allowed us to try more than one. We ordered some paneer dishes (chilli paneer, peas paneer and makhani daal, as well as some rice and bread). The food was absolutely outstanding and one of the nicest Indian meals we’ve eaten in a very long time. We’re both really looking forward to the restrictions lifting so that we can eat in,as the food was really nice. Will definitely order again in the meantime, and look forward to trying the momos too. We often used to go to the restaurant before the pandemic and always enjoyed it; great food and friendly service. We had a delivery from Saffron tonight and it was excellent. We had the fish pakora as a starter but can't tell you what our main meals were as people will be drooling! It'll be good to be able to get back there once customers are allowed back.

Great Indian/Nepalese food. Lovely ingredients (not greasy), you don't have to wait long, reasonably priced (20% discount for take away 👍)
