Kasturi in Sefton

Having a weekend in Southport and this restaurant came up as one of the best curry restaurants in Southport. Lovely meal and good service from the guys. The meat on the mixed grill was so tasty and tender and my partners curry was great too. Would definitely visit again and recommend to others.

We have been to Kasturi before for takeaways but the three of us sat down for an excellent meal. This was one of the tastiest Indian meals I’ve had. We had chicken jalfrezi, lamb balti, lamb jalfrezi, garlic naan, bindhi bahji and pilau rice… all amazing! Couldn’t fault it.Chicken and lamb were so tender House white wine was excellent too!!! Will definitely not eat Indian anywhere else in Southport now!

We went here 31st December for our Wedding Anniversary but what a big let down it was considering we had been 3 times previously & fully enjoyed our curries. This time my Bhuna King Prawn the sauce was tasteless (no green peppers at all). My wife's Chicken Tikka sauce was very dry & again no taste. We went 5pm & the staff was busy with take aways but the standards should not drop at all.

Onion Bhaji Chicken Tikka massala Pilau rice Keema nan bread I've been living in Southport for so long that I've yet to try here, so I treated myself. Usually, I would have poppadoms with a tray of dips, too, but went for the Onion bhaji, and it was delicious. The sauce it came with absolutely tasty, and I think I only left just under half  bowl left of that sauceself today. My main was the Chicken Tikka Massala, do love it, wanted to try something that I've not had but stuck to my favourite dish. I ordered Pilau Rice and a Keema Nan, just so I can wipe the sauce up. The main was also delicious. The Nan was definitely handy. I made sure to have some left, and I totally wiped 98% of the sauce. Absolutely stuffed after that, I definitely will go again. Staff was friendly, and the restaurant wasn't too far out of town. It was literally about 5/10 mins walk from the Train Station side.

Had a delightful dinner in this bright and spacious eatery. Opposite atmospheric Wesley Street and not far from the Station, it is very conveniently placed. Taking advice from the forthcoming staff led to delicious fare. Copious mains were grand. Leaving just enough room for a shared dessert. The chap looking after us was great, as were all the others. A lovely stop-off and deserving of the best recommendation.

We came visiting from down south looking for a curry house. The food was very good as was the service. Convenient car parking out the front as well.

I've been going here now since they opened 23yrs .never had a bad experience.nothing is too much trouble .if you don't see it on the menu, ask, and they will try and replicate what you want .very friendly staff and go out of the way to help .

Recommended by staff at the hotel my sister and I were staying at, as we were both keen for a good, independent Indian restaurant The smells hit you as you walk in to the humble-but-well-presented bar and restaurant, and it looks comfortable Staff were quick to seat us and provide menus. Drinks were ordered promptly, and places set upon taking our order. The lady greeting us was lovely. However, I found one of the gentlemen to be lacklustre and uninterested, which was a bit of a let down The food was lovely - we had Starters, Mains, and Naans We were in after 20:00 on a Friday evening. Having gone to the Great Himalayas in Southport the week before we found Kasturi to be far better, on quality of food, portion size, price and service. Its a great place - can't fault it. I would recommend it to anyone and this will be my go-to indian restaurant in Southport from now.

A group of 6 of us visited New Years Eve and although the restaurant was very busy the service was still very good, with little delay between courses. We have been here before and have always had a very positive experience. Every meal we have had has been very good, very tasty. We would highly recommend visiting here.

Traditionally, the Kasturi has been our favourite Indian but I was disappointed with my Chicken Tikka Madras. The sauce was like water and the chicken was hard and dry. I didn't enjoy it at all. If I had had been in the restaurant, I would have sent it back.Mr J3'S KP Balti however, was really tasty and the sauce was thick and the prawns large. That is the reason for 3* instead of 2 upon this occasion.

Went here the other night wasn't expecting it to be so good but wow every thing that we had was the best that we have ever had from an indian restaurant, the food was so fresh and tasty couldn't have asked for better will definitely be going back.

Kasturi never lets me down when I want to take Indian friends out for a meal. Authentic food and freindly service mean I know we are assured a relaxed evening. I will be back with another group in a few weeks.

Called here while staying at the nearby Prince of Wales which is about 300 yards away. Very welcoming staff and great food and service. I had the mixed kebab starter which was fine followed by monkfish sagwala which was excellent as was the peshwari naan. My partner had saag aloo as a main meal which she said was the best saag aloo she'd ever had. We visit Southport about three times per year, this was our first visit to Kasturi and hopefully not our last.

Fancied an Indian on Thursday of last week, my wife and I were in Southport and found this gem. We had the early bird special which was brilliant. Nice starter of bhaji, kebab and big lump of chicken. Chicken Bhuna for me and and chicken passanda for the wife. Both these were awesome, loads of meat and very very tasty. The pilau rice was great and the naan was stunning. Indian food is my favourite and this did not disappoint. Absolutely brilliant. We will return sooner rather than later.

We found Kasturi a few years ago, we hadn't tried Indian before, oh how glad we are we found it. We visit every four or five weeks. We always get a lovely welcome from Shameful and his staff. Food is always amazing, it is always difficult when new dishes are on the menu as we are torn between favourites and new. However never been disappointed. Love the new decor and atmosphere too. We have tried other Indian restaurants in the are however we haven't been impressed. We took some friends who were visiting from Norfolk and they said it was the best ever. What more can you say

The Kasturi is one of my favourite restaurants - the staff are always lovely and the food is always of a high standard. This evening we took a friend for his birthday meal. The staff were so kind and the restaurant looks lovely & cosy after the refurb. We had a fantastic meal, all ate too much but every little morsel was so yummy. Highly recommended.

In my opinion, the best Indian cuisine in Southport, really interesting menu, with something for everyone and delivers on taste, fantastic service from the minute you walk in and visited by a large core of repeat visitors so best to make a reservation ahead of calling in.

We found this restaurant by looking on trip advisor & saw the high score. We hadn’t booked - not a problem straight to a table. Lots of choices for every taste with Cobra on draught - perfect. The service was attentive & our 2 boys were warmly welcomed by (I presume) the owner with some jokes & laughs, thank you. An enjoyable evening all round an easy 5 stars given.

Fantastic early bird offer, value for money. 5-7pm Sun-Thu. Poppadom and chutneys. The chutneys were the best we’ve ever had. Mixed kebab starter, really nice and light onion bhaji, chicken tikka and mince kebab. All tasted really fresh. Prawn Pathia was exceptional, lots of small prawns. Lamb Sagwala, really nice lamb. Really good value for £10.95. Place very busy. Clean and tidy with nice pleasant staff. We definitely recommend. Exceptional!!!!

We have visited again and again over the years with friends and family and have always had a fantastic time with great food. I always ask for a prawn purée which is not in the menu and they happily oblige!

Whenever my husband and I decide to go out for an Indian meal there is only one place we choose now and that is the Kasturi.

I went last night for the (4th maybe) time with my boyfriend, and I couldn’t fault anything. The staff are always so lovely and welcoming, they open the door for you when you leave and also asked us when sorting the bill if we needed a taxi calling, I can’t say I’ve ever experienced that at any other restaurant in Southport!)

We have eaten at the Kasturi before but not recently but have had regular takeaways. It was nice to eat there for a change as both my kids were home for the weekend and we don’t often get together. They both love the chicken tikka masala and both say they have never had one quite as good as the one from the Kasturi. We had the usual poppadums with lovely dips to start and my husband and I had a vegetable curry each. I had the korma which was very nice though maybe a bit sweet for me. We also had peshwari naans which came straight out of the oven piping hot and were great for mopping up the delicious sauces. I like the atmosphere in the Kasturi. It is just a straightforward, clean and tidy place to eat and is always warm. It is a bit like eating in your own dining room. The staff (some of whom seem to have been there as long as I can remember) are always friendly and helpful whether you are eating in or picking up a takeaway. I will definitely eat there again. We had a very nice meal and all left feeling pleasantly full.

recently went as a reasonably large group of eleven. Bothered a little that they might not have been able to serve us all in one go but this was not the case. Everything was as per request with nothing missed out. The food was hot, well presented and arrived in a very reasonable time. The staff explained some of the dishes as there were items some had not seen on a menu before. The food was about average price wise and allowed a very affordable evening. We will be certain to return in the near future.

Came here after a show at the Atkinson just around the corner. We had planned to go somewhere else but got let down, so Kasturi was not our original plan. But as so often is the case, things worked out for the best!

Early bird menu is a bargain! You have to ask for it which I found strange but as long as you’re in for 7pm you are in for a treat. Lovely good quality food and the staff are very pleasant.

Whilst stopping in Southport for a couple of nights as a mini break, we fancied a curry. After looking through the internet, came across Kasturi. Only a 10 minute walk from the Travelodge across Lord Street, find the restaurant. Both had Starters and a main course with a nan bread, couple of drinks each and came to approx £45. The food was amazing, really great taste to everything and really fresh. The staff were great and friendly, seemed happy to serve you not just having to do it because it's the job. All in all, great clean restaurant, great food and will definitely return next time we are in Southport

Visited here for the first time and went for the early bird special...popadoms with chutney and a mixed kebab starter are as they come you just choose your main curry and rice..I had the masala and my partner had the prawn curry. Didn't skimp on portions sizes and it was the nicest curry I've had at a restaurant

We visit the Kasturi once every couple of months and have done so for many years. I can’t understand why it is not higher on trip advisor. The only thing I can think of is that it does get a lot of regulars who take it for granted, like me, so I thought I should put that right.

The Kasturi has been a family favourite of ours since it opened some 17 years ago. We've enjoyed many, many get togethers, birthdays, special occasions and even Christmas days there and it never disappoints.

First visit after reading previous trip advisor reviews. We were not disappointed. The service was excellent and food really delicious. We had chicken bhuna with plain rice and lamb Kerala which came with pilau rice included in the price.

We had come to this restaurant after an overbooked chinese buffet experience across the road (see my previous review).

Just had the early bird menu whilst on an overnight stay in Southport with my husband. Absolutely lovely. The red sauce with the poppadoms is amazing !!! I had prawn madras and hubby prawn masala , never seen so many prawns in a curry even in restaurants that have cost 3 times as much!!!

It is some time since we visited this restaurant but were not disappointed. Our party was warmly welcomed and during the meal the waiter was attentive but not intrusive. The menu was varied and our choice of food was delicious. Would highly recommend.

Lamb naga was amazing. There’s a world shortage of naga paste. So they used fresh naga chills. My first curry in 18 months. Was not disappointed. You must go. Drink cobra.

How to describe the food and service in this restaurant simply you cannot; simply you have to try it yourself. The moment we entered this place we were greeted warmly by Sarwar our host for the evening and he was attentive throughout our entire stay . Our food arrived a bit late but when it arrived it didn’t disappoint, I must say it was the best biryani I had for a long time. All those herbs and spices fused together in a lip smacking food.

5 of us ate mid week here and although we had a good eve the food could of been better. The best course was the popadoms...the worse part was seeing the chef come out looking very scruffy & dirty, that did kind of alter the taste buds a little!

We opted for a take away one Tuesday evening and having had so many average meals from Indian restaurants around the area, we're so glad we decided to try this one. Food was really fresh and of restaurant standard for a take out, which we're not used to when opting to stay in. Service was friendly and quality was top notch. Hats off to Kasturi. We'll be back.

Sometimes a restaurant is a disappointment from the reviews on trip advisor but rarely are they better. Kasturi is the exception. Brilliant meal. Chicken Jalfrezi with pilau rice and a nan bread...delicious. The flavours are so good I can still taste them. I'm here for 5 nights so I will be back to try something new later this week.
