Amazing food, the special fried rice in particular was well flavoured. Will definitely be coming here again. Takeaway staff were also very friendly and accommodating to allergies.

Royal Tandoori in Caterham is fantastic! The Butter Chicken and Lamb Vindaloo were flavorful and perfectly cooked. The naan was soft, and the onion bhajis were crispy and delicious. Delivery was quick, and the food arrived hot. Friendly service and reasonable prices make this our top choice for Indian takeaway. Highly recommend!

The butter chicken with the naan is incredible. I would definitely be going back to have the food again. Shohel at the front counter was very kind.

Food was delicious but 60p for ONE popadom is a bit extreme considering you used to get a pack for free. We spent £50 so was expecting more for sure.

We ordered online and selected the time we wanted the food to arrive, it was over a half hour early and lukewarm so had to go into the oven to make it edible. The dishes were not good at all and in fact we didn't eat our meal and gave it to the foxes, just hope they are ok as my husband woke up in the night feeling sick and he never feels sick! This was the first time of using this restaurant and it will, unfortunately, be the last.

Best Indian restaurant in Caterham. No business can make a curry like royal tandoori can. There brilliant. Great tasting dishes and everyone I show royal tandoori is instantly hooked and won’t go anywhere else. Lovely people, great chefs. Very clean.

Their packaging is pretty awful to say the least. We got chips in paper bags and by the time we got our order its was stone cold. BTW the masala chips are just chips with red chilli powder over it, pretty horrible tasting. I just won’t be bothering with them again.

Veggie Samosa was bland tbh. Same for madras… I had to add quite a bit of salt. Spice level was good though.

My order was delivered between promised time frame. Kebab, chicken tikka and samosas are amazing! Biryani was much spicier than I expected but it was still delicious! Thanks for the extras.

The stingiest restaurant I have ever seen, did not had nothing with the order, no sauce, no salad, no chutney and no poppadom nothing apart from the 2 containers that I ordered Well if that’s how you want customers to come back to you then good luck with that

I like royal tandoori and I have eaten there many times, so I thought I would try a takeaway. The chicken dhansak was far too hot. I like chillies but this was hot. My wife could not eat it. It was like someone had added a pot of chilli by accident. The onion bhajis were flat. Now this may work in the restaurant, but when they have been in a bag for ten minutes they go as hard as rock. I could not cut them, I had break them in bits with my hands. When I bit them they nearly broke my teeth. Make them round for take away. It is real shame this takeaway was no where near the food in the restaurant.

Food was good quality and nicely cooked, but the Balti I ordered was very spicy - I wouldn't order it again. Also, I would have liked a side salad with it.

Onion bhajis were flat and rock hard not edible. the single popadum was soft (p s unlike all other restaurants I have ever ordered from, the don't give complementary popadums so if you ordered some you literally get one and no dips unless you pay). The nann bread was disappointing, rubbery and flavour less. Rice was ok. Chicken tikka masala was average nothing to write home about, though chicken was a bit odd in texture. It was not the worst I have had but I won't be ordering again.

UNSAFE SERVICE. Do not order here. They were extremely rude and dishonest. The delivery man which was the manager of the restaurant tried to block me closing my door and barge into my property. Asked him to leave several times and he would not. Needing to contact the police.

Awful and unsafe service. Dishonest and rude. Food was late and the delivery driver tried to get into my property and would not leave despite me asking him to leave and kept threatening me that he was call the police on me for the food I had paid for through uber eats? Stressful with having to contact the police when I thought I would just be getting a take away

Ordered from here a lot. Always been ok. My main tonight was absolutely disgusting. Had a weird burnt taste to it and was very oily. Called restaurant and they said they would send me a new one, rice and Naan as I’d poured my curry all over the rice and the Naan would be cold when the replacement arrived. No problem. However, just the main and rice turned up. No Naan. Not happy. I won’t be using them again.

Had to wait over 2 hours for delivery. The delivery driver was surly and uncommunicative. The food, when it eventually arrived, was cold so we had to microwave it before we could eat it. I won't be ordering from here again.

Just moved into the area, so it was a gamble as to which Indian restaurant we ordered from. So glad we went for Royal Tandoori! Delivery was 15 mins early (on a Friday night), excellent portions, and really tasty food. The tarka dal was the best we’ve had in a long time…! Will be back.

We ordered tonight for the first time following good reviews and can only say we are disappointed. The food (coming from the bottom of our road) was lukewarm, the paneer starter consisted of only a few bits of paneer, was extremely bland and for £7 we expected a few more pieces! The portion sizes all round were poor. The poppadums were soft and the chutneys watery. The onion bahjis were greasy and soft. The best dish was the Northern Indian garlic chilli chicken which was delicious. Unfortunately we won’t be back!

I've been ordering from this wonderful place for many years now. The food is delicious, always piping hot and gets delivered on time or earlier. I've got a few favourite dishes, if you like it very spicy, I highly recommend the Lamb Mirchi Biryani!

Vindaloo wasn't spicy at all. Oil had leaked all inside the bag, the food was swimming in oil :( won't be ordering anymore, sorry.

The food was ok, however, it took 1.5 hours to be delivered and even though I had put notes for the driver he couldn't find me, so I had to go and meet him. After an hour of waiting for the delivery I called the restaurant to be told the driver was on his way. 20 minutes later (bearing in mind they are 0.6 miles from me) the driver still wasn't anywhere to be seen. By the time it arrived the food was cold. I would not recommend this restaurant for deliveries as you will be kept waiting.

Such a rude delivery driver, I was shocked. I put a note on the order that my bell is broken and to knock on the window. My neighbour ended up answering the shared door as he was pressing their bell and he pretty much threw the food at me shouting why is your bell broken over and over! Food ok, nothing special, definitely not worth being spoken to in such an aggressive way.

Shocking service! I ordered on a Monday night at 17:20 and they gave me a delivery time of between 1 hour and 1 hour 20. I expected they were being overly cautious but it was actually 20 minutes late; arriving just after 19:00. When I rung for an update they were very short with me and when the guy arrived he was extremely rude. He said he wouldn't deliver here again because it was too hard to find. I pointed out that I had added instructions but he just walked off. I can accept no apology but I really wasn't expecting to be greeted with unprovoked rudeness. Begrudgingly, I'll admit the food was nice and the portions were a decent size but it's not worth the frustration that came with that experience.

Food took over 2hrs to arrive, most was stone cold. We have lived in the area for 8yrs and it’s safe to say we Will not be ordering here ever again.

None of the food was cooked properly and the meat that was in the meal was sparse and fatty. Even the breads were overdone. So gutted I spent £50 on a takeaway for my husbands birthday and it was a waste of money.

Probably just an off-night, but the food quality fell short of previous orders from The Royal. The Bombay Aloo was barely warm, the Naan bread very tough and dry and the Butter Chicken was OK but well short of normal standards. It will not stop us from ordering from The Royal again, but for the first time ever, it was disappointing.
