Have been there few years back the food was poor, but thought give it another go with friends on Friday night ( only place to be open to 11.30pm in area). Unfortunately the food was poor again, all dishes taste the same, they looked great but just bland, we tried dansak, ch tikka bhuna- yuck, lamb bhuna-watery, saag aloo- tasteless, prawn puree- bkand, nans- good, onion bhaji- good. The service, waiter, and waitress were good attentive and polite.

Great food and very helpful, pleasant service. 9th March. It is with a heavy heart that I have to say, I will not be returning. Since Christmas I have had items missed off my order. Called them yesterday and asked if they are under new management as the portion sizes have changed and things seem different. They confirmed that it was the case. Ordered buttered chicken and more, it was more butter than chicken. none the less, nice people and very polite.

Ordered takeaway from here for the first time since we moved nearby, we will definitely be returning! 😊 The food we purchased was cooked to perfection & the service was friendly. Thank you so much to the staff! 😋🙏

Food delivery very late, food cold. Chicken Shaslik pieces not fully cooked through and pink, popadums stale and flexible, nan bread limp and doughy. Really put off by whole experience, although replacement food offered, really put off any food by this time - if the food had been good after reheating all would have be ok, used to deliveries being late, but late and poor? Food returned to restaurant intact (repacked it all) and no prizes for guessing there was no refund, other than 60% credited to my newly opened Just Eat account, which due to the appalling food and service I will never use again. Two lessons learned - don’t ever use this restaurant and Just Eat operate despicably

Outstanding food and service. Food quality is very good. There could be a better variety of wines and higher quality - this would match the rest of the positive experience. Had 3-4 great meals in the last few months. In a tough time for hospitality, Dewan-e-am are showing how it should be done! Always offered a free night cap drink at the end - just good people!!

Will always love this restaurant, been going for years and never had an issue. Staff are so friendly and the food is lovely.

Love this place ...anyone who knows cme knows me for curry! ..I libed in Tooting for around 15yrs so evrry other shop/ establishment was Indian ...and this is up thdre with authenticity!!!

I have been visiting Dwan-E-Am since they opened, over 10 years ago. Never had a bad meal, the staff are great, friendly and ptofessional they are always ready to help with special requests or recommendations and will go out of their way to make every customer feel special.

I’ve been going to this restaurant for 12 years and it’s excellent, the best jalfrezzi I’ve had anywhere and I’ve eaten in many curry establishments over the years. I’ve tried all the others in the Caterham area and beyond but always come back here . I don’t live in Caterham anymore but I still make a special trip to Dewan e am , in fact I’m off there this Saturday again . Highly recommended 👍👍👍👍

Honestly the most terrible Indian meal I have ever had and a total rip off. The restaurant is filthy and not inviting, I should of left straight away. Poppadoms were stale and the sauces disgusting. Mixed starter the chicken with grisly and microwaved, worse chicken I have ever had. Main course chicken shaslik, tiny chewy chicken pieces and gone off vegetables. For3 people £120! we all had mixed starter, one main and a rice and ONE drink. AVOID this dump needs shutting down, it is a total embracement to Indian cuisine

The person managing the restaurant was very rude in responding to some queries about the food.

Best curry house in the Caterham area (and I have tried every house in a seven mile radius!). If you would like good food and nice service, then come to this restaurant. Garlic Chilli Chicken is one for you to try if you like a bit of spice in a tasty curry. Very nice varied menu which will keep you coming back for more. Even online delivery to your pad for a pound. Get in!!

We cannot praise the Dewan-E-Am enough we have been lucky enough to have this as our favourite restaurant for over 11 years and tonight we had a yummy takeaway delivery , Sam and Abdus and all the rest of your family you are the best ❤️

Very poor oily food. The chicken madras was just some yuk red sauce and the chicken the toughest chicken I’ve ever eaten.

Booked a table for 7. Turned up at 7. Stood in the doorway for 15-20 minutes without being acknowledged by staff. One of our party had to go to the bar and ask but was told no tables were available. So we left. Shame, as previously had a good experience here. Large queue outside so hope no one had booked...

Booked for 7o clock arrived at the venue at 7 and were totally ignored. Went and ask and told my table was not available. Will not be using this again.

Friendly and polite, best Indian food I have ever had I recommend the mushroom baji butter chicken or masala the specials are great too! Great for a night out or they do a damn quick delivery.

Have waited 2 hours for curry and can’t get hold of restaurant to ask where it is as lines are constantly busy. Will NOT be ordering again!!

Curry was nice enough. Service was fine, had to try to grab their attention a few times despite not being overly busy. Marking down as it was Saturday night and I was hoping for a bit of atmosphere. There was no music at all in the background. Also I was cold.

Had a delicious takeaway. friendly welcoming staff. restaurant was quiet but we were early to pick up. Their chicken bhuna is lovely. There was quite a bit of oil that had spilled out of the containers and into the bottom of the takeaway bag... messy but wasn't a huge problem (i find this happens with a lot indian takeaways!). Overall i would recommend as bellies were satisfied!

I have eaten here 4 or 5 times and can honestly say that it is a fantastic place to eat, if you like curry. The food is 1st class and the customer service is perfect.

Been here with the grandchildren and also on our own .it's a very welcoming restaurant the menu has a good selection of dishes to suit all tastes.A enjoyable experience will be back soon.

I took my stepson out for his favourite Friday night meal. Me few beers, then we sat down and shared a starter each and had a truly beautiful meal. Top quality service, friendly, Sam can never do enough, thoroughly nice evening great food and such a nice place to go. Cheers again Sam.

Had ordered takeaways from here which were as good as take out food could be . However having eaten in the Restaurant served food is very good indeed . Nice little space, really nice staff . Had a great meal and a nice bottle of wine , reasonable price as well what’s not to like . Don’t let the surrounding area put you off sadly Caterham is all like that .

Can't fault the food one bit, highest quality Indian cuisine and exceptional service. If you are thinking of trying do not hesitate.

I ordered a takeaway via Just Eat. The delivery was around 10 minutes late, but was still hot. The food was very tasty, with the exception of the poppodoms which were stale and chewy.Unfortunately, an item was missing (onion bhaji), so I had to phone the restaurant. They sent out another one fairly quickly, but by the time it had arrived we had finished our main courses and were too full to eat it.Overall, a nice meal, but not really sure if I would go back there.

Really great food, really fresh and tasty and hot ( heat)! Lovely staff, friendly and made great recommendations. Cold beer and wine which was great in this hot weather and really reasonable. You cannot beat this place! When you want a great curry, go here!!

The food is delicious, they will amend any dish to your taste ..Sam , Abdus , Jack and Tommy and all the staff are just so friendly and offer excellent service , we have been going regularly here for 8 years and they never disappoint..highly recommend.

Normally titles like that are a bit hype.. for me, this is definitely up there as one of the best Indian meals I have had. The other guests I ate with also really enjoyed the meal. This place will likely be my new local!Seems most people order takeaway but there is indoor seating available. Staff are friendly, menu is not extensive but has a bit of everything. Bit dark on the inside but does not seem to be busy, even on weekends.Portion sizes were decent, not tiny but not massive but prices were reasonable. Lamb was tender and fell apart in both lamb curries. I normally find butter chicken a bit boring but this is probably the first time I have really enjoyed it after trying some of my girlfriends - the best butter chicken I have ever had!Drinks a bit on the small side in my opinion. Coconut rice very nice although quite sweet. You probably want to pair it with a savoury curry rather than something sweet to avoid the meal being sickly.Not sure if the naan is made in house but I assume so because it tastes and looks fresh. Cheese naan was well filled with stringy cheese and the garlic naan had really big chunks of garlic in it. That is the first time I have seen that and all naan were beautifully cooked. I will be trying to keema and peshwari naan next time as those are my usual.Overall, we all really enjoyed the meal and left satisfied. We will definitely be coming back with a few more joining us next time. I will update the review when this happens to see if the title sticks.UPDATE:Went back with more people this time. Title sticks, good service, good food once again and the staff even remembered us. New regular I think.

Firstly, there was an error in delivery - which was appropriately addressed and rectified; mistakes happen and they were very friendly on the phone.The food was very good value for money. Flavour-wise the lamb Bhuna was very flavoursome and the blend of aromatic spices was superbly balanced. I did feel that the quality of lamb meat was slightly disappointing and there was a lot of sauce but perhaps that amount wasn’t necessarily needed. It was a positive experience though and I am particular about curries. I do recommend this restaurant.

We ordered from here a few night ago. Delicious! I have a passion for spicy food and this hit the spot perfectly. I particularly enjoy Dhansak and was delighted with the flavour and generosity of the portion size.

They were lovely people. Nice interior and atmosphere. The food was very good and quick. The staff were very polite and helpful. Would recommend!

Very lucky to have this restaurant within walking distance. A regular customer here since it opened, Food is consistently good and the staff are courteous and efficient. Favourite dish for me is the Chicken Tikka Dhansak (I always have it made slightly hotter, my personal taste).

It is basically a oily takeaway that you can have in a pub. Great for a cheap night out and some beer!

So I took my step son and his sister out for dins at Sam's Dewan-E-Am. Sam provided us with a lovely table, truly beautiful food and even offered to pop out and get some ice cream as they had run out of hs favourite.... How nice and curtious was that.... Happy days and a happy family meal. Thanks Sam.

Ordered a delivery, wrong food arrived, called back but the guy on the phone said we had received the right food and he wouldn't address their mistake. Then went to eat the food, chicken was undercooked, pink in the middle, also found a hair in the sag aloo. Chucked it all in the bin. Disgusting food and terrible service. Do not order from here.

We ate here last night, we were a group of 15 and the service from start to finish was first class. Food was absolutely amazing. Staff were extremely friendly and approachable...5 star service from Sam and his team.

Disgusting oily food .Both my husband and my dishes looked exactly the same even though both completely different dishes . Food was so full of oil it stained my tablecloth and place mats .food had that horrible red dye in it .Most important all the dishes were Tasteless.The chania masala was like a chick pea mushy stew tasteless .Binned all the food. The chef's really need to go and learn how to cook properly. Worst curry I ever had

A wonderful meal. Food cooked to perfection and the taste was amazing. Highly recommend as I know some indian restaurants that are far from edible.

Wasn't too happy with my first experience with Dewan-E-Am. Ordered a chicken tikka masala and it had 7 small bits of chicken which in my opinion is not acceptable for a dish which is supposed to be a main meal. Spent over £80 and was not impressed with the quality what so ever. Don't think I'll be ordering again.

Wife's Birthday decided to eat here, meal was excellent as always, service good. being local to us is also a good pointer. it's a win win for us.

My wife and I live in Normandy, France and recently travelled to stay with her sister in Caterham. On the evening of Friday 27th July we hunted all over Caterham for a decent Indian restaurant and happened upon Dewan-E-Am in Caterham on the Hill.

We had a great takeaway yesterday! I finished the leftovers for breakfast today!! We couldn't eat all of it! Lovely, creamy Chicken Korma, light crispy poppadoms, tasty rice and lots of spinach. Creamy butter chicken and succulent chicken tikka!! The whole family would recommend this restaurant.

Always a good curry and friendly service

Dewan-e-am is on the main road so parking is difficult. We parked in the Tesco up the road and walked down. We were served quickly, the staff were very friendly and the food was first rate. Unlike some Indian restaurants where you are served too much rice or the Naan is enormous, there was just enough. As the evening went on the more people came in and the the atmosphere was great. I will definitely go back!

This was probably the best service I have received for more than 15 years. From entry till exit. Very accommodating to cater for my vegan diet too :) The waiter even packed my left over curry in a container with rice (not paid for), and a green chilli to make my lunch complete! Food was tasty and fresh too. Definitely recommend this place
