Always a friendly welcome when we go to the Raja Tandoori. The food is very good , just nice to know that care and attention goes into food preparation and that we’ll have an enjoyable and relaxing meal there.

The ‘Raja’ are soo consistent in supplying quality takeaways,why would you need to go anywhere else!

This was phenomenal. I have tried many indian cuisine but this was absolutely unreal. the mango chutney put any other to shame. the expertise from our server Noz was amazing and gave us really great suggestions based on past experiences and preferences. They were so accommodating to change any part of the meal to fit it for us. A lovely environment to be in, we were alone for the whole meal in the entire restaurant and if only others knew how good this place is, it would be a different story. They lived up to the hype with the “worlds best onion bhaji” by a long way. I actually struggle to find something wrong with any part of my experience. It was the perfect cross between feeling like sitting down with an old friend, and going somewhere and just wishing i’d discovered it sooner. If I had to complain about anything at all, the mugs were so good at insulating the teas that they stayed boiling hot for so long I had to wait for them to cool down. Just unbelievable in here. I came in intending to have what I always have in indian restaurants. I left having had a different dish that had all the key parts of my favourite dish but were created in such a different and delicious way. I left feeling content. I will come again.

Stopped here today with my family were just back from France and needed a bite to eat before heading back to Scotland. The staff were all lovely and we really enjoyed the food. Onion Bajis were so tasty. I had bombay potatoes my husband had a chicken curry and my son had the sag ponir. Really tasty and we loved the style of the restaurant and the staff every single one of them were friendly. Defo pop by again if were ever in the area Thank you

I've had quite a few takeaways from here over the last year or so. I cannot fault any of them. Always excellent and not oily at all. The spice and seasoning is amazing! We collect each time and they're always friendly. Keep up the good work!

We hadn’t been here for years and they kindly fitted us in one evening at short notice. Food was lovely and the people who work there are too. We then returned on 2 separate occasions for our son’s birthdays . They even gave my son a birthday card. Would highly recommend! Excellent value for money and you are never waiting for a drink. This place is amazing. A proper traditional British Indian restaurant. They’re friendly, the food is brilliant. And it’s inexpensive. The Lamb Pathia is beautiful. Very tender lamb, and thick, rich sauce. I would eat it every day if I could.

Great local curry restaurant. Very attentive staff and good quality food. Good takeaways for collection and delivery as well.

First visit in 10 years. Food was super and reasonably priced. Staff were great. Small and full of regulars. Staff seemed to know most of their clientele. Needs a new carpet as it smells a bit damp when you first enter. But food is very good.

Everything about Raja is fantastic.They make you so welcome and nothings too much trouble. We visit maybe 2-3 times a month and wouldn’t dream of going anywhere else.This is the standard that all should be trying to achieve.

Like stepping back in time to a curry house in the 80s, yellow walls, grans carpet but that's not a criticism, it's part of the charm. The service was good although it was quiet. Food excellent and very reasonable price. 2 courses, pint, wine, Irish coffee and soft drink was £50 for the 2 of us. We will be back.

The curry boys club thought we would try this place as a change from other venues, staff nice, service good, didn’t make it home without having to squit my curry into a bush, all of us have been on (separate) toilets all morning, shockingly bad food poisoning, never returning here again. It was cheap but that’s no excuse for poor food preparation.

Excellent food and speedy, very considerate and helpful service. Recently went here on spur of moment after a 2-3 year gap before which we were regular customers and we were not disappointed. We will definitely return as well as taking advantage of their take-away service.

A hidden gem, can't fault it. Don't be fooled by the exterior, within the unassuming exterior are expert chef's with palate-pleasing dishes. You would want to come back again and again.

We have been eating at and ordering take aways from the Raja for over 20 years and have never had a bad meal - ever. Always welcoming and polite, the Raja is family run and they take great pride in what they do. Old School, clean and hygienic, our favourite Indian restaurant, we would not eat anywhere else.

My family and I have been going to this restaurant for over 35 yrs. it’s outstanding food and service are unbeatable. I now live in North London but treasure a visit to eat dinner here when I’m down seeing my parents.

Good food and great service. A wide selection of dishes and they will make anything to order. The owner will make you feel like an old friend come to visit, even if it is the first time Owners son a wealth of culinary knowledge. Ask his recommendations Remains a wonderful venue.

40 year's of great food and great service.

Tasteless. Bland. And it left a lot to be desired. Unfortunately, no love whatsoever was put into making this food. We couldn’t even finish it. Think we’re going to order a kebab. Small businesses in small towns rely on repeat business and this place has ruined it for themselves. Quality cannot be underestimated. In this case, it was.

Fantastic old school Indian and great food too.

I visited this restaurant recently for the first time. The service was welcoming and friendly. I had delicious popadoms followed by an equally delicious prawn curry and naan bread. I was shocked when the rice arrived as it was such a small portion. I’m a 75 year old tiny female with an average appetite but had to order an extra portion. I would love to return but please increase the rice portions!!

Very friendly, well established and popular Indian restaurant. Food Excellent! Wouldn't go anywhere else.

I have been visiting this place sporadically for a number of years. It is a family owned business and it shows. Nothing is too much trouble, the staff are attentive without being intrusive, and the food is great. I make a point of trying different things on the menu and the staff are always very good at explaining the dishes and, when asked, making suggestions. Tonight I had the chicken shashlik and it was without doubt the best I have ever had at any restaurant. Hence the urge to write this review. N.B. They are not on the internet so takeaways have to be ordered via a phone conversation.

They made sure that all customers are well attended/served. The ambiance is very warm. If you are craving for a real Indian Cuisine this place is well recommended. Friendly staff is an added feature of this place

A lovely restaurant with a cosy atmosphere and very friendly and attentive staff. They make you feel very welcome from the moment you come in the door.

Attentive staff and one of best chicken jalfrezi I've ever had. I had it as a balti on staff recommendation.. not sure what the difference is to a normal jalfrezi apart from the bowl, but anyway, it was superb.

1 of the best places i know to go if you want an authentic balti served traditionally out of a wok. Supurb spices give the dishes a fantastic flavour. Best book before you go now as its a small traditional size restaurant with only half the tables operating because of social distancing. Enjoy.

Ate in the restaurant yesterday evening - a personal recommendation from my friend who eats here monthly. My second visit as a visitor within 12 months.On both occasions we were met by the owner (he tells me he has been in business here 40 years) and his fellow staff. All were extremely attentive, never pushy and meal dishes explained (if required) on ordering.Traditional food with welcoming staff who genuinely wanted you to enjoy the experience.Value for money.

Excellent food, would highly recommend

Started off nice, nice food. Thought we would really get good service considering there was 23 of us and paid a total bill of over £500!! However, obviously more concerned about getting as many customers as possible as tables booked assuming we would have left by a certain time and was trying to rush us out! Very small restaurant and lots of people standing around whilst everyone trying to eat waiting for the tables they had booked and was hurling abuse at us even though the restaurant owners were at fault taking bookings they couldn’t fulfil. Shame as would have come back but staff were happy for their regular abusive drunk customers to be abusive to us. They need to look at the type of clientele that they have there and in future I will continue to take my business to Bollywood where they look after you from start to finish and turn people away if they’re booked up and basically don’t attract scum.

Although as curry goes food was ok We felt the management were only interested inSelling drinks and getting us out as quickly as possible.The whole service felt like we were constantly being rushed to complete our meal and leave.On the whole the food was the only reason we would ever return as both the management and staff need to work on the customer experience as a hole otherwise they will lose customers to Bollywood who put the customer first

Food I had too spicy. I know it's an indian but chicken shashlic should come with peppers onions and tomatoes all were missing and it is not supposed to be HOT
