Raviz in Guildford

Update 2024 A return visit for the first time in a long while. Food was very average. Service was good but brisk. However, the state of the restaurant left something to be desired and I can see why their hygiene rating was downgraded. Update 2022 Still love the food (when we can get it) but it’s absolutely impossible to make a booking. The phone is never answered and emails don’t get a response. I’m tempted to try a seance and see if that gets a better result. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - Four of us had a delightful lunch here. We were offered and accepted the thali which was a superb selection of dishes. Service was quick and it is not over priced. My only (minor) criticism is that the food was all a little sweeter than I would have liked it but this reflects the regional style of cooking that the proprietors are familiar with.

It is literally a mystery how so few people know about this place (and we’re selfishly glad) but if anywhere deserves a Michelin star, it’s Raviz. Treat yourself - you will not be disappointed.

My new favourite restaurant in Guildford! The food was ridiculously flavourful and there were lots of little surprises brought out throughout the meal. The staff were also lovely and very efficient. Can’t wait to come back!

Food was absolutely phenomenal. I am actually a bit apprehensive about giving a good review because I dont want more people coming here and I want to keep it all for myself!

Went for a friends birthday and the service and food was outstanding. The best curry I’ve ever had and the menu included so many dishes I have never tired before in any other Indian restaurant. Will definitely be returning!!! Also returned for the taster menu for Valentine's day and was absolutely fantastic! Every mouthful a delight, similar to 5 star restaurants in London. Thank you so much!

I love this Indian restaurant. The food is the best South Indian cousin I had with touches of free tasters and palet cleansers between your dishes. Service is excellent with attention to the detail. Smaller size of the restaurant makes the atmosphere more intimate. And bonus is that it is kind to your bank account too.

Great food and friendly service

The starters were fabulous as were the little extra bites between courses. The main courses were good but a little overwhelming served in a bowl, altogether making it strange to add rice and side dishes. Would rather have had it to the side and selected a little at a time. Very expensive wine.

Friends took us here - Guildford is usually out of our radar for eating but this place is well worth a detour. It’s refreshingly different to more ‘standard’ Indian food/restaurants - from the start the service was attentive, the atmosphere relaxed and the food was great (delicious and also different). Highly recommend.

Absolutely exquisite and unexpected,certainly not your usual Indian restaurant. This was a great dining experience the staff were helpful and guided us through the menu. I think there is now life before this meal and life after this meal, highly recommended.

The last time I visited Raviz was around 4 years ago so I was a little worried it might not still be as good but I was very pleasantly surprised. The food was incredible! Soon after we sat down we were presented with a lovely little cup of a tomato based soup that really delivered on flavour. We then had chicken three ways ways and the chicken lollipops for starter which were so tender and very tasty. We then had a lovely surprise of a pani puri each before our main course of lamb biriani and king prawn curry came out. We didn’t have room for desserts but the meal was nicely topped off with a small homemade chocolate. This isn't your run of the mill curry, it’s more fine dining but with decent portions. I can’t believe I’d left it so long to revisit and definitely won’t be waiting so long again before my next visit. Thank you Raviz for a truly delightful meal!!!

It is an easy to miss location hidden down Jefferies Passage between High St & North Street. The whole ambiance is upmarket Indian. I only looked at the first page of the menu which had maybe a dozen interesting looking dishes, so I can’t say if there were more options. On the other hand, I feel it says a lot that I had not seen these before and would happily have tried half of them. We were a party of five and everyone enjoyed their dishes. It cost £30 each basically for the one dish and poppadoms. I thought the food was excellent and will certainly go back

I discovered that this is a south Indian restaurant and the food is very good. The food is quite different to other Indian restaurants and I would highly recommend my friends to dine here. Thank you for the great service and hospitality.

Food here is a significant cut above the average Indian fare and given the quality it is good value as well. The room is small and is looking a little tired but that is more than made up for by the food and the friendly and efficient service. Often rated the best restaurant in Guildford and I can understand why. BTW....Indian food would not usually be my first choice as it increasingly does not agree with me but the food at Raviz does not seem to have that issue.

I’ve been living in Guildford for two years, but I had never been to this restaurant until today. To be honest, when I first saw the atmosphere and architectural design, I developed a bit of a prejudice. However, the food was absolutely amazing. Not only was the staff attentive and polite, but the spices, flavors, and temperature of the dishes were also perfectly balanced. I will definitely come back again and again.

Just wonderful - celebrated my husband's birthday and the staff members were very friendly and accommodating. Compared to some other Indian restaurants, the food serving was very aesthetically pleasing and more importantly, very tasty! Balanced amount of food, great appetizers and refreshments during the meals - just great! Will be back 🤗

Very enjoyable evening at Raviz. Not the usual offering, with a menu which was varied in style of food. The amuse bouche before poppadoms was a lovely touch. Our meals were delicious.

Left a letter in my mail box accusing me of using their garbage. Then proceeded to come into my building and knock on my door at 8pm. Serious overstep of boundaries. I’ve never used your bin, we have a garbage room in the building. Clearly some management paranoia, get a life and leave me out of it. I’ll never recommend this place to anyone. Focus on yourself, and next time you come to my building authorities will be involved.

Wonderful food with lots of choices

Three of us celebrated a birthday at Raviz on Saturday evening and had a lovely time. The beef puff starter was yummy. We were hungry so I forgot to take photos of the mains but the King Fish Molly was so delicious that we would go back just for that. The amuse bouche was a nice touch for the meal too.

Absolutely amazing. Every part of every course was a culinary delight. So far away from your day-to-day Indian restaurant. It's definitely worth a visit, and well worth a revisit. Go there with an open mind, and prepare to be impressed!

Very nice and different Indian restaurant. The menu is very different to the "standard" selection of dishes you get at the majority of Indian restaurants. For example starters include venison and monkfish cooked with interesting spicing and sauces. The restaurant is tastefully furnished and the staff are attentive without being intrusive.

Very rude stuff, they delivered cold food and extortionist. Their restaurant stinks and my wife felt sick so we had to leave immediately

We've been here several times and you're always guaranteed an excellent evening. The food is delicious, service is warm and welcoming, and it's also great value, with lots of additional bites and moments throughout the meal which really makes it special. 100pc recommend.

So bad called yesterday for a reservation , the man said no need to book we go on 5 pm the next day and they say we are fully booked so disappointed it’s embarrassing , the seats were empty !! So bad don’t recommend customer service was so bad he could not compromise to anything , to add on we drove 1 hour to try

This restaurant is a must. Beautifully flavoured Asian food - Indian but not your usual Indian restaurant. Every mouthful pushes your taste buds to the max. Little snacks in between each course prepared you for the next set of dishes. Very friendly, efficient staff and very good value. Thank you for a lovely evening.

A other excellent meal. Wonderful flavours which really impressed my first time visitors to Raviz. - and they are VERY hard to please! It’s not noisy so my hard of hearing mum was fine. They loved the Dosa’s and peshwari nan was so fresh. Nothing to fault!

If I could give 10 stars for Raviz, I would! The food here is consistently outstanding, the service professional & pleasant and the little touches of the between course titbits take this superb restaurant to another level. Thank you for an excellent meal.

Great service and really lovely contemporary menu - don't be fooled by the hand towels they give you at the end of the meal. They may appear edible but I can assure you they're not!

The food is always amazing 😍, authentic Indian food made to perfection. The staff are fantastic.

The food was absolutely beautiful and the staff were lovely. If I could give a a minus to the manager I would. He asked for table back by 8 pm and we were outside the restaurant before 8 pm on the dot. He complained that his other customers has to leave because they clearly arrived early. it was very clear those customers were more important to him. The staff only came around with the bill at 19:53. It was not a nice end to what had been a a very pleasant meal. I had left a £30 tip and my friends also tipped before the manager was rude. I really hope the nice staff received those tips and do not have to share them.

Fabulous food again. I have had both the Welsh Lamb and the Pork Vindaloo (not too spicy) on different occasions. I also recommend the Raita which is lovely too. Be warned, the prices on the menu don't include VAT.

Don't know which restaurant the previous reviewers went to, but their experience did not reflect mine last night. When I got my takeaway home, I had to spoon a layer of oil off the top of each dish. The lemon rice was soggy, overcooked, and tasted of nothing. An expensive waste of time.

Absolutely brilliant food, every dish was inventive, delicious and presented beautifully. Service was great. Prices very reasonable considering the quality.
