Raviz in Guildford

A other excellent meal. Wonderful flavours which really impressed my first time visitors to Raviz. - and they are VERY hard to please! It’s not noisy so my hard of hearing mum was fine. They loved the Dosa’s and peshwari nan was so fresh. Nothing to fault!

This restaurant is a must. Beautifully flavoured Asian food - Indian but not your usual Indian restaurant. Every mouthful pushes your taste buds to the max. Little snacks in between each course prepared you for the next set of dishes. Very friendly, efficient staff and very good value. Thank you for a lovely evening.

Great service and really lovely contemporary menu - don't be fooled by the hand towels they give you at the end of the meal. They may appear edible but I can assure you they're not!

Great food, cosy and very nice staff.

Fabulous food again. I have had both the Welsh Lamb and the Pork Vindaloo (not too spicy) on different occasions. I also recommend the Raita which is lovely too. Be warned, the prices on the menu don't include VAT.

Don't know which restaurant the previous reviewers went to, but their experience did not reflect mine last night. When I got my takeaway home, I had to spoon a layer of oil off the top of each dish. The lemon rice was soggy, overcooked, and tasted of nothing. An expensive waste of time.

Absolutely brilliant food, every dish was inventive, delicious and presented beautifully. Service was great. Prices very reasonable considering the quality.

Lovely food, lights too bright. Attention to detail, toilet areas worn and dirty as are stairs and skirting boards in restaurant. Ceiling in places cracked and stained.

Lovely and affordable food with nice staff in a great atmosphere

Beautiful meal. They have a wonderful menu, not your average Indian. We would recommend the Indian style Mongolian Lamb and the delicious mild prawn curry. All the usual sides, Naans in particular were yummy.

Lovely food all round - the only criticism was the sauces for the poppadums were not to our liking, one was rather watery and flavourless. Other than that we had a lovely meal.

Head a great time at raviz, very friendly staff even chef came down at some point asking how everyone was finding their food. Brought lots of fun and tasting snacks along with the service and food was great 👍

Found this by chance for a celebratory 6 months of knowing you meal and what a find. Food and service top notch and highly recommend trying the marshmallows. My only small critique, would be that my companion and I are kind of lacking in the hight department and possibly high chairs could have been offered. Though this didn't affect the wonderful time we had and will definitely be back.

We live locally but have never visited this restaurant. Booked over a week in advance for my husband’s Birthday. Arrived and was told “We’re very busy” and was given a tiny table by the open front door. It was completely unacceptable. When we asked for a different table, the response was a surly ‘No.’. Feeling both embarrassed & upset by our treatment, we left immediately. The previous good reviews and accolades have obviously gone to the proprietor’s head. This was complacency at its best. Luckily for us we managed to get a table at another restaurant and had a lovely meal complimented by excellent service. Certainly will not be returning to Raviz or recommending it.

The most delicious authentic food. Not your typical restaurant.

This was a very pleasant experience. We ordered in the usual way and then some delicious amuse bouche items - the first soup in a tiny cup, then 2 other single bite delicacies suitable for every palate - were offered and gladly accepted. Lovely earthenware plates and dishes - and Cobra beer available. One of our party had a frogs legs starter - delicious and the first experience of this dish in an Indian restaurant. Excellent cuisine. It would have been more fun if there had been a few more diners but this is probably the one week before a Bank Holiday that more people are away than usual.

Food is always delicious! We will be back again.

I have known about this restaurant for some time but never gone as I thought it would be out of my price bracket and not my sort of place. How totally wrong I was! This is a beautiful little Indian restaurant - BUT certainly not your usual Indian. All the food had fresh and unique flavours and was beautifully cooked. The meat was tender and the flavours were immense. The peshwari naan was soft and tasty, the poppadoms crisp and flavoursome with 'sauces' each with a beautiful individual taste. For two of us with a beer each and plenty of food, the bill came to approximately £70 with a tip. Very very good value. Definitely recommend and I will be returning. Many thanks to the chef(s) and our waiter.

Weirdly, we'd not visited this restaurant before. Very pleasant evening. The food was outstanding! My wife had a chicken biryani, I had a lamb mappas. We had a tarka dahl side and a peshwari naan. Everything was delicious. We both love Indian/Bangla food, and this meal definitely took it up a level!!! Staff were friendly and attentive, and our bill, for two, which included a couple of beers and service charge was under £70 which is VERY good value! Highly recommended!

We had an exceptionally good meal at Raviz a few weeks ago. The food really is outstanding and very good value and the service was very also excellent.

Had the opportunity to eat there during a recent visit to Guildford. From the moment we sat down I was impressed. The quality of the food, the taste, and the attention from the staff. Every single dish was outstanding, and the chef even came out to check we were enjoying our food. If yoy want quality I'd recoomened, if you want a meal, especially for a special occasion this is your place. The prices are not low, but everything on the menu offers superb value for money - you won't regret eating here!

We came across this by accident. And what a find. The most interesting Indian food. Unique flavours. Lovely amuse-bouches that we hadn't anticipated. Staff are attentive and excellent. Only niggle for me if the decor. Brown and more brown. Lighting ambient enough. But we will come back and bring foodie friends because it's refreshingly different!

Fabulous and unusual food: for example an amazing amuse bouche of lentil soup with tamarind. Intimate setting with a very modern but in character decor. We are regulars and we will be back soon.

This restaurant may look a little unprepossessing on the outside, but what a hidden gem on the inside! I was delighted to find incredible food, lovely staff and great service on this my first visit last week. With such skilful cooking Raviz takes Indian cuisine to totally different level and is the best Indian restaurant I have experienced in the area – and is also up there with the best restaurants I have encountered in my travels around India. The food is beautifully presented and the balance of spices gave complex and interesting flavours to my dish of “Barbecued King Prawn on crushed aubergine in kokum and tomato reduction”. I also had an aubergine as a side dish with colourful bell peppers side dish as I adore both. Neither dish blew my socks off with heat, but trust me when I tell you that they were undoubtedly better for that. For dessert I very much looked forward to trying the trio of ice cream of rose petal, fig & ginger and jackfruit, but after such a wonderful and substantial main I simply did not have the spare capacity. But definitely next time - and soon. In conclusion, if you haven’t yet discovered Raviz then I do urge you to try this exquisite little restaurant. But in doing so I hope that there will always be a table for me.

We ate at Raviz for my birthday on Friday night and enjoyed the most incredible food. Every mouthful was a delight and was such a refreshing change from the usual Curry House experience. There is much more emphasis on quality of food over quantity and overall it’s a more genuine Indian food experience. The service was very good and the waiting staff were extremely pleasant and polite. The only let down is the very dark and dingy feel of the restaurant with wood panelling throughout, heavy curtains covering the windows and very tired bathroom/toilet facilities. Otherwise Raviz is a wonderful restaurant.

Very good everything in every way. The curries are very well prepared, very tasty and well thought out. We liked it very much and we were left wanting to enjoy the dishes that we were not able to try! We're full!

Food here is really worth a visit - very different from the run-of-the-mill Indian restaurant. Service was excellent too. Will definitely be back - lost a star on atmosphere only because the restaurant was cold when we arrived.

Raviz is located down the intriguingly named Jeffries Passage so you would probably miss it if you didn’t know better. The style is what I’d call semi-formal but not stuffy, the service is fantastic and I enjoyed the little touches designed to elevate this above your standard Indian restaurant experience. We had pork & beef starters (unusual for obvious reasons) and they were lovely - curry and Dosa to follow, the former was again not your standard fare (always welcome) and while the Dosa was a touch buttery it went down well. Overall Raviz has got its USP, it’s ‘different’. Absolutely worth a visit, after all, variety is the spice of life.

Average food, a bit overhyped. Very long waiting between courses, even excluding that it was a generally inauthentic Indian food experience. Maybe 1 or 2 vegan options, which I found surprising as that’s not the case with any of the other Indian places around. No dessert options and the small plates in between (like the pani puri) was given to randomly chosen tables. Good service, but lured by the google rating for a disappointing visit.

A very quiet bank holiday Monday night with few diners. The wine menu is much longer than the food menu, but there was still a range of choices cooked to perfection. This is not a typical curry house but aims to offer an authentic and classy experience and they succeed

We found ourselves in Guildford at the end of our mini-break and needed dinner. We wandered down Jeffries Passage and found Raviz. What a GEM of a restaurant. Honestly, the most gorgeous curries and Indian food we've ever had. Not bog-standard British versions of curries we've all eaten so many times over the years, but intricate, thoughtful flavours, absolute treat for the senses, so very delicious; with lots of lovely complimentary touches like the palette cleanser that came pre-dessert. Plus, we loved the decor front of house, so many lovely touches. If there was a tweak needed behind the scenes, perhaps the toilets needed a bit of an upgrade, and we did end up waiting longer than we thought for dessert (only because we needed to get back on the road home), but the food was divine and the staff so lovely. Compliments and Thanks to the Chef and all at Raviz. We would definitely make our way back to Guildford for another meal at Raviz.

A group of us dined here on Saturday evening and had a very pleasant meal. It should be noted that this is what I’d describe as a more ‘upmarket’ Indian restaurant and if you’re expecting a Tikka/Korma type of menu, you’ll be surprised. That being said, if you’ve an open mind to new dishes, you can’t really go wrong. I had the lamb curry which was very tender and flavoursome. The staff were fairly friendly and the prices were fair for the quality of food and nice environment.

Super rude staff! I called them to book in for dine in. The guy didn't want me to dine in until I see the menu first? What's that about? I asked if I can seat down first but was told to look at the menu before I take the seat. Very inattentive staff forgot the taster pani puri(I was the only person in the restaurant) and just over all experience was ruined by the staff. Near to the end of my meal I saw customers coming in no one was treated like that. It's a shame food was decent but the staff isnt.

I would advise against ordering take away food from here. This might be a great restaurant to eat in and it appears to have great reviews, so perhaps visit in person. I usually do not write negative reviews but I feel obliged to give a warning. The ordering experience has been bad (and I have the emails to back it up) that I would advise against ordering take away food from here..

Absolutely amazing food, staff and hospitality were second to none - came away from what was a pretty casual Thursday evening dinner feeling properly wined and dined. Would especially recommend as a vegetarian, not a huge selection but what there is is next level delicious.

Guildford finally has the fine dining Indian experience I’ve always felt the town was missing out on. I thoroughly enjoyed the pigeon salad, the kingfish main as well as the complimentary amuse bouche & palate cleanser. Add to this the wonderful service from waiters and a chap who may have been the own have been more attentive and it created a superb evening out. Thank you Raviz.

If you haven't yet been. GO! This is Guildfords number 1 restaurant for a reason. The decor is classy, the staff are incredibly nice and attentive. The food was the best food/curry me and my partner have eaten in such a long time whilst dining out. Traditional Indian dishes cooked to a 5* quality. You won't find any English inspired tikka masla or korma but you will find your new favourite curry house. I cannot put in to words how much I loved this place.
