Rajdoot in Guildford

Had a very pleasant meal here last night and chatted to a friendly couple next to us.

Really nice dining experience! Modern/clean decor, friendly and efficient staff and of course tasty food! Thoroughly recommended.

We were recommended by our son to try Rajdoot again after many years away. So we grabbed a takeaway, brilliant service and the food was top drawer. We will be back.

The food was amazing. The restaurant is quite small and clients have to call the waiters as they don't seem to approach the tables to check if everything is ok. It was a lovely evening.

Food was excellent and the restaurant was really busy, nice atmosphere and attentive staff. Restaurant unfortunately shuts at ten o'clock so you feel a little rushed during the time you are there. We have been here many times and would highly recommend it .

Had a meal on a Saturday evening 6 people in total. We all agreed it was really poor food. All sauces seemed to be similar even though different dishes and mine in particular was chewy being a chicken dish I didnt expect. Rice was hard and quite dry. Starters were fine. We did let them know but didn't seem over concerned. We have ate many times before and had no problems. Hopefully this was a one off but we all agree to try elsewhere for a while. Don't know if it has had a change of management or chefs ? Ps In reply we left a tip for service staff not for ashow of quality of food. I wouldnt usually leave a poor review but felt it needed to be addressed.

Food and service are great. The waiters are very nice and accommodating, we were not sure on what to order and were instructed very well on the specifics of each dish by our waiter. The food was satisfactory although I would prefer it if the rice portions were a little bigger, as they were not big enough to finish the curry I ordered alonside the rice.

Having grown up enjoying authentic home cooked Indian cooking (beyond any restaurant grade), I'd like to think I have very high standards. Certainly my mum who accompanied us does. We were not disappointed. We tried a mixture of dishes, including balti chicken, prawn biryani, aloo saag, saag paneer. Each delivered to a superb high standard, with friendly enthusiastic service. Mum was thoroughly pleased. Highly recommended. Just to confirm my earlier review, I always like to verify my 5 stars 🙂, we went again on 30/06/23. Once again we weren't disappointed 🙂

Went there yesterday and had their butter chicken... hands down the best so far. Many restaurants cook it like a spicy curry. However, this place for both me and the other half got it right... other food was also good too. Will defo be returning

What a fabulous meal and service today. A group of 9 and we were accommodated with such welcome and flexibility in spite of our booking not being visible on their system and the restaurant being very busy on a Friday evening. Thank you to all the staff at The Rajdoot. Everyone enjoyed their meal.

First time I've tried this restaurant. Highlight was the Service and polite reception I received and the Onion Bhaji starter which had a perfect caramelised flavour (I doubt you'll find better). The lamb dish was ok with tender meat but could have been more tasty I thought (Lamb Balti I think it was). I will visit again and try a different lamb dish next time.

We had an office night out at Rajdoot this week. The food and service were excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala, which was delicious. Recommended.

our favorite restaurant.. for so many years

I have been a customer for more than 20 years. A traditional and high quality Indian restaurant which is always consistent and has been run by the same family throughout. The queues for take away and busy even during the week it's worth travelling a bit further as no place locally can come close!

Just had dinner here. What a lovely place. Opens super early - and we were the first dine in customers. We stayed for a long time and it filled up even though it’s Monday. The food was excellent so I could see why. We had Prawn balti, prawn karahi, cauliflower bhaji, dhal, rice and. Keema nan. All were lovely and distinctly different. Good flavours without over spicing. A couple of Kingfishers went well with it. I’ll definitely be back

In my opinion the best Indian restaurant in Guildford!! Tried quite a few as we moved away from Burpham but I find myself always going back… I won’t eat an Indian anywhere else now - Well done

Great food at a reasonable price with really good service. Would definitely recommend.

Although very busy (only one spare table) the service was prompt and the waiters attentive. Thoroughly enjoyed the food which had great flavours and tasted fresh. Generous portions. Quite happy to recommend the restaurant.

I have been coming to the Raj Doot for years and get an absolutely beautiful meal each time. On Sunday we had roughly 8 different dishes, all of which were delicious. The staff are wonderful, friendly and welcoming and happy to accomodate for things that are slightly un-standard (e.g we asked for extra hot curries) I reccomend this restaurant to everyone I meet and me and my family always go there for our special occasions - it just can't be beaten!!! P.S The take aways are also just as yummy

Been here a couple of times now, food is always so good and fresh, the staff are lovely, you don't have to wait to long for your order and the takeaway is as good as eating in. My favourite Indian. The dansaak is perfect 😁👍

We were rushed by staff upon arrival, I suggest they had another sitting after us? Calmed down eventually, staff / service and food was very good. It was very warm in restaurant, they do need the air conditioning on. Would recommend ,great food, friendly with a good atmosphere.

Disappointing! Lack of seasoning and somewhat flavourless food. We had an assortment of dishes and the only one that was ok was the basmati rice. We were recommended to try this place but I understand it has issues within the kitchen and it shows. Really did taste like a supermarket ready meal for 6x the cost. Bad food is good for the completion. Such a shame to ruin what has been a remarkable reputation.

One of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to. Love this place.

I think they’ve changed the chef yet again ! We live in Burpham for the last 14 years and I this is our local Indian take away, but in this time period they had their ups and downs due to changes in the kitchen. Unfortunately yet again this is their low period. We keep ordering the same food for years and this time my food is full of tomato’s, doesn’t taste as it should , lamb is chewy and lick of spinach in spinach dish is just a cherry on the top. I guess we need to wait few months for chef change to enjoy the food yet again. FYA this happened few times before.

Managed to get a last minute booking, so tried this for the first time. Very impressed! Ordered a selection of dishes - Tandoori mixed grill, chicken Balti, king prawn madras, a selection of rice and naans. All very good. Will be visiting again!

Fab experience. We were in a large group of 16 on a busy Friday night and the staff were so brilliant and never let service slip! Thank you for being so polite and giving the best service. The food was great. And came within reasonable time and all served at the same time.

Ordered a takeaway last night and was really impressed. The menu had a good variety, including a good vegetarian selection. Food arrived with a friendly greeting, very well packaged, at a good temperature and well labelled. The food was tasty, generous portions and with a few much appreciated extra surprises thrown in. Two very happy, full and satisfied customers. We will definitely be ordering here again.

Nice meal. Service a little hit and miss. I asked for a spritzer with small wine, soda water and ice, received a 250ml glass of wine, bottle of soda water and a separate glass of ice. On the more serious side we felt we were seated a little too closely to the next table of guests, but a first visit and we would return again.

Not only service is great, but the food amazing! We have been looking for authentic Indian food across all UK with no luck! Until finally we found this place! Really good tasty although not spicy or hot but delicious food. Try the massala!

Just received a chicken balti from this place, stringy and tough chicken, no depth in flavour, never again.

Another perfect delivery meal. Good tasty food, not overly greasy, all the accompaniments, free popadoms, chocolates. This is how all Indian take aways should be.

I never leave reviews but this was the best Indian I’ve maybe ever had! Beautiful flavours, not greasy like a lot of others, and good portions. Would highly recommend. And I got a free papadum ☺️

I have been coming here with my family for over 25 years....even when I have not lived in the area. The food is fantastic, excellent service and they provide take away which has been very welcome during the three Covid lockdowns. Highly recommend!

Had a takeaway on Friday night. This is the second time in a row that we have been disappointed. The vegetable samosa wasnt properly cooked and the meat was tough in the Special mixed Biriani . The chicken tikka was so dry to be almost inedible. Not sure what is going on because the food is normally so good.

Thought we would treat the family to a takeaway. Really disappointing flavourless, watery meals all round. Probably would have been better off with ready meals.

Tried for the first time yesterday the staff were really friendly and food was perfect, would highly recommend and I shall be returning soon.
