Rajdoot in Guildford

EDIT : served gluten items to a gluten free diner. The thali is shown as gf on menu. It arrived with samosa and naan. Despite telling / checking that dish when ordering was gf. Said diner was gf too when ordered. Seriously need to train staff on intolerance and allergies. This could be bad for coeliac diners. Staff appeared v busy but no excuse for mistakes made for intolerance/ allergies. It would help if one waiter assigned to table as seems to cause confusion having so many staff waiting table. Old review : Lovely meal for 9 people, staff were great too. We will be back !

Ordered a takeaway after a stressful day. Even taking it home it was well presented and hot. The chicken Phall was lovely and had lots of chicken in it. There was nothing I could fault. This remains my favourite Indian restaurant in Guildford hands down !

I've been coming to Rajdoot for 27 years, and it's still my favourite. The food never disappoints, the service is excellent and the owners are really friendly.

We visited last night for my daughter’s birthday, the restaurant was buzzing and we received a warm welcome.The food was a cut above the rest I can recommend the Khorai heartily, naan breads and popadoms were very fresh from the oven. The staff enthusiastically serenaded my 24 year old with happy birthday and were always attentive. Will be returning!

The best Indian takeaway I have ever been to, friendly staff, food is ready quickly and tastes amazing and it's not expensive either.

Excellent meal and service again

What a terrific experience. Flavours were mild and tasty, and the service by each team members perfect. Very attentive but not overbearing. They were also able to take us in as a walk-in without a booking. A great second last night before flying out of the UK. We will return for another try and different dishes! Yum!

I wasn't sure what I wanted to order for my birthday takeaway, and someone suggested Rajdoot. It was the right choice! The food was excellent! Variety, taste and extras we received for the special occasion. Thank you, Lyak.

Service was good, but food standards not as good as before

Best curry I've had in many years. Drove 30 miles to get here and I wasn't disappointed. Onion bhaji starters the size of a cricket ball followed by a chicken madras, special rice, paratha and bombay aloo. The madras was mild as far as a madras goes but the gravy taste was exquisite. Wafer thin paratha was perfect for dipping and the bombay aloo just soft and succulent. All in all, it's a must go for me and I will return for sure with more friends to enjoy a great meal.

Thank you so much for a lovely family night out for our little princess jazz's birthday. We drove up from Redhill and I'm so glad we did. Beautiful food and lovely friendly service. We will definitely be back. Thanks again The Rajdoot. See you soon.

I’ve been here a few times now with different groups and we’ve always been happy with the amazing food and service. Nothing is too much hassle for them. Attentive staff with quality food.

We booked the Rajdoot for a Saturday at 7.30 - when we got there, the place was buzzing with customers, both dine in and takeaway. Plenty of staff on duty and we were seated in our reserved table. We had attentive and prompt service all evening and everything came to the table at just the right pace, the waiters also keeping an eye on the drinks if they were needed. The food was excellent and we also thought that the Rajdoots pricing was also spot on compared to other much more expensive restaurants - its now become our favourite sit-down Indian restaurant and its no wonder the place was busy - they deserve it - highly recommend it if you want quality and great service!

Another wonderful visit. We went down on a Sunday night as a last minute decision. The girls were very fussy about what they liked and didn’t like, but Robin the waiter managed to some up with something that they both loved. I’m not sure it was even on the menu. My food was excellent, as it always is, and the service was equally as good. We had a fantastic meal in lovely surroundings and this still remains the best Indian in Guildford in my opinion.

Excellent takeaway can't fault it.

Staff very loudly clattering with cutlerry for 10 minutes straight during the dinner service and they sorted and transported large piles of knives and forks from the back to the front of the building. The manager was taking phone calls at one of the dinner tables and staff loudly spoke to eachother across the room frequently. The food is bland and dishes like butter chicken taste more like a Korma. A very disappointing night and i will not be returning.

What a fabulous local restaurant. We haven’t been here in a while but decided to go this evening and were so glad we did. We hadn’t booked a table but the kind team still managed to squeeze us in, despite the restaurant being absolutely packed. It’s always a good sign that a place is so busy and I must say that after we tasted the food, I wasn’t surprised at all. Fresh, super tasty and piping hot food - it was all delicious, especially the incredible naan breads straight out of the tandoor. I must also mention that it was superb value for money, poppadoms, starters, main courses and drinks for 2 people all for £59! A complete bargain and friendly, speedy service so we will definitely be returning soon. Thank you to all of the team for a fabulous evening 🙏

Our favourite Indian in Guildford. Food is consistently excellent as is the service. The staff are all friendly and welcoming and there is nothing that can be faulted with it. If you haven’t been then you have to go !

Lovely restaurant, the staff were very nice and helpful. The food wait time was very short and the food was delicious. The pricing was also fair and we were given a rose as it was valentines day and two after meal chocolates with hand Wipes. We will be back again!

We were recommended by our son to try Rajdoot again after many years away. So we grabbed a takeaway, brilliant service and the food was top drawer. We will be back.

The food was amazing. The restaurant is quite small and clients have to call the waiters as they don't seem to approach the tables to check if everything is ok. It was a lovely evening.

Food was excellent and the restaurant was really busy, nice atmosphere and attentive staff. Restaurant unfortunately shuts at ten o'clock so you feel a little rushed during the time you are there. We have been here many times and would highly recommend it .

Had a meal on a Saturday evening 6 people in total. We all agreed it was really poor food. All sauces seemed to be similar even though different dishes and mine in particular was chewy being a chicken dish I didnt expect. Rice was hard and quite dry. Starters were fine. We did let them know but didn't seem over concerned. We have ate many times before and had no problems. Hopefully this was a one off but we all agree to try elsewhere for a while. Don't know if it has had a change of management or chefs ? Ps In reply we left a tip for service staff not for ashow of quality of food. I wouldnt usually leave a poor review but felt it needed to be addressed.

Food and service are great. The waiters are very nice and accommodating, we were not sure on what to order and were instructed very well on the specifics of each dish by our waiter. The food was satisfactory although I would prefer it if the rice portions were a little bigger, as they were not big enough to finish the curry I ordered alonside the rice.

Having grown up enjoying authentic home cooked Indian cooking (beyond any restaurant grade), I'd like to think I have very high standards. Certainly my mum who accompanied us does. We were not disappointed. We tried a mixture of dishes, including balti chicken, prawn biryani, aloo saag, saag paneer. Each delivered to a superb high standard, with friendly enthusiastic service. Mum was thoroughly pleased. Highly recommended. Just to confirm my earlier review, I always like to verify my 5 stars 🙂, we went again on 30/06/23. Once again we weren't disappointed 🙂

Went there yesterday and had their butter chicken... hands down the best so far. Many restaurants cook it like a spicy curry. However, this place for both me and the other half got it right... other food was also good too. Will defo be returning

What a fabulous meal and service today. A group of 9 and we were accommodated with such welcome and flexibility in spite of our booking not being visible on their system and the restaurant being very busy on a Friday evening. Thank you to all the staff at The Rajdoot. Everyone enjoyed their meal.

First time I've tried this restaurant. Highlight was the Service and polite reception I received and the Onion Bhaji starter which had a perfect caramelised flavour (I doubt you'll find better). The lamb dish was ok with tender meat but could have been more tasty I thought (Lamb Balti I think it was). I will visit again and try a different lamb dish next time.

We had an office night out at Rajdoot this week. The food and service were excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. I had the Chicken Tikka Masala, which was delicious. Recommended.

our favorite restaurant.. for so many years

I have been a customer for more than 20 years. A traditional and high quality Indian restaurant which is always consistent and has been run by the same family throughout. The queues for take away and busy even during the week it's worth travelling a bit further as no place locally can come close!

Just had dinner here. What a lovely place. Opens super early - and we were the first dine in customers. We stayed for a long time and it filled up even though it’s Monday. The food was excellent so I could see why. We had Prawn balti, prawn karahi, cauliflower bhaji, dhal, rice and. Keema nan. All were lovely and distinctly different. Good flavours without over spicing. A couple of Kingfishers went well with it. I’ll definitely be back

Although very busy (only one spare table) the service was prompt and the waiters attentive. Thoroughly enjoyed the food which had great flavours and tasted fresh. Generous portions. Quite happy to recommend the restaurant.

I have been coming to the Raj Doot for years and get an absolutely beautiful meal each time. On Sunday we had roughly 8 different dishes, all of which were delicious. The staff are wonderful, friendly and welcoming and happy to accomodate for things that are slightly un-standard (e.g we asked for extra hot curries) I reccomend this restaurant to everyone I meet and me and my family always go there for our special occasions - it just can't be beaten!!! P.S The take aways are also just as yummy

We were rushed by staff upon arrival, I suggest they had another sitting after us? Calmed down eventually, staff / service and food was very good. It was very warm in restaurant, they do need the air conditioning on. Would recommend ,great food, friendly with a good atmosphere.

Disappointing! Lack of seasoning and somewhat flavourless food. We had an assortment of dishes and the only one that was ok was the basmati rice. We were recommended to try this place but I understand it has issues within the kitchen and it shows. Really did taste like a supermarket ready meal for 6x the cost. Bad food is good for the completion. Such a shame to ruin what has been a remarkable reputation.

One of the best Indian restaurants I've ever been to. Love this place.

I think they’ve changed the chef yet again ! We live in Burpham for the last 14 years and I this is our local Indian take away, but in this time period they had their ups and downs due to changes in the kitchen. Unfortunately yet again this is their low period. We keep ordering the same food for years and this time my food is full of tomato’s, doesn’t taste as it should , lamb is chewy and lick of spinach in spinach dish is just a cherry on the top. I guess we need to wait few months for chef change to enjoy the food yet again. FYA this happened few times before.
