Always great food and service whenever we go to Maloncho. A definite favourite and offers good value for money.

I have been coming to the Maloncho since it was very first set up nearly thirty years ago and, as this was my first trip back to Guildford in some years, after a few beers it was the obvious place to eat. My friend and I ate relatively early but even so by the time we left it was absolutely heaving and still doing a roaring trade in takeaways and deliveries. That such an long-standing restaurant can maintain such popularity locally is testament to its success. We didn't have starters but between us we ate papadums, chicken karahi, tandoori mixed grill, saag bhaji, brinjal bhaji and some chapati. Everything was excellently cooked and spiced, the service was uniformly excellent despite the fact that pretty much every table was full, and the bill (£65 including a couple of beers and service) astonishing reasonable. Here's to decades more of this.

I don't like leaving bad reviews, and the service was very friendly and the waiters did me a big favour in squeezing us in on a busy night with no reservation. However, the food was distinctly average with little to no flavour, and absolutely zero spiciness. Honestly there is more flavour in a ready meal from Tesco. Perhaps the restaurant has sought to cater too much to Brits complaining their curry is too spicy. Or perhaps given it was a busy night they forgot to add spices to the dishes (although this seems unlikely). A real shame as I wanted to like this place. Get some frozen meals from Mandira's kitchen down the road (excellent food) and stay home instead!

Great curry. I don’t visit Guildford very often, but this is the third time I’ve eaten in here (since about 2011). Five stars.

Had a take away from here tonight and it was terribly bland. Such a let down and waste of £50.

We had a party of six and visited on a busy Friday evening. The staff were efficient and friendly and the food excellent and great value for central Guildford. Definitely a level above your average Indian restaurant and so much better than one we visited previously just down the road. Thank you for a great meal.

I was exited to try this restaurant as I heard good things about it and having been to several cities in India multiple times paired with living in the SF Bay Area, I have had a very good representation of Indian food. THIS WAS NOT ON THE LEVEL. The food was just ohhhkkk… If you like bland food then this is likely for you. The service I experienced was also just ohhhkkkk. Go with low expectations and you will likely enjoy yourself.

Got our first takeaway from this place after several recommendations from friends. All the food was absolutely delicious. Staff were friendly and great value for money. Will definitely be going back.

Friendly, welcoming staff and good service. Food is always good here and great for takeaway too. Often a mix of large and small tables, including couples and service is always the same standard.

We recently ate at this restaurant. It lacks in taste and flavour and is not authentic Indian food. The base for most dishes appears Bangladeshi - however also lacked any flavour whatsoever. We didn't want to waste the food so had to add Indian spices to the dishes (we essentially remade the food for it to be edible). Save your money and your sanity, don't go here.

Their lamb shank stands out as one of the best in the UK, tender, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned

We very much enjoyed our food it was better than many indians in the Godalming / Guildford area. I went with a friend. However the meal was ruined a bit by a very large table of blokes who were incredibly loud next to us. Wouldn’t recommend a Saturday night partly for this reason. Soon after they left another roudy table of men came in and sat next to us. Luckily they weren’t as loud.

Have been several times to this restaurant and we took friends there last night who hadn’t been before. Very pleased to say that we yet again got great food, excellent friendly service and very reasonably priced.

Brilliant curry. Certain waiters were rlly good and gave me a yummy curry. Highly recommend. Fairly priced aswell. Murshed was a great waiter.

Great tasting, freshly made food with proper ingredients. The lovely, friendly and talkative staff made us feel very welcome. I especially like that our son was offered anything on the menu cooked especially for him without chilli. Our third visit here as a family (plus loads of Deliveroos!) and will certainly be back. Make sure you try the ‘red sauce’ (known as ‘hot sauce’ on Deliveroo) with the poppadoms. It is mega hot but tastes amazing.

They have really great Indian food for Indians. You need to mention while ordering that you'd like the food to be prepared in Indian way and make it spicy without adding cream.

We wanted a meal before going to GLive to see Fascinating Aida. We were welcomed and made to feel very welcome. We both enjoyed our meal, I had lamb tikka dansac. We will come again when the opportunity presents itself. We were entertained by our waiter.

Most probably the worst curry I have ever eaten. My vegetable jalfrezi was bland and sloppy with bits of over cooked broccoli…tasted more like a stew. The tarka dal was also bland and watery, absolutely no taste whatsoever. The lamb rogan josh was inedible, again no taste and the lamb was tough and gristly as you will see from the picture. If I had been eating in the restaurant the whole lot would have been sent back, sadly it was takeout so that wasn’t an option. I was staying with relatives for one night and had to leave Guildford first thing the next morning… if I had been there the following day I would have gone back to the restaurant to complain in person. I’m not sure how this place has such good reviews, it was truly dreadful.

Maloncho is a lovely restaurant in guildford at the very top of the high street it serves delicious Indian cuisine I had a chicken passanda with coconut rice, meat samosa, sag aloo and peshawari nan very creamy curry, coconutty rice top draw and the peshawari nan was just right the sag aloo had the right amount of spinach and potato with curry spice delicous a great meal overall. After driving an hour to the restaurant, calling ahead speaking to the manager! They decided to close early, as they wanted to go home! I would strongly recommend not wasting your time! The customer service is the worst I have EVER experienced in my life!

This restaurant is clearly very popular (rammed early on a Friday evening) and has an extensive (if not particularly different) Anglo-Indian style curry menu. Service was excellent throughout but we found the food rather underwhelming. My Dhansak was rather heavy and flavourless and my friends...

We had a ordered salted lassi and by mistake they made sweet lassi and when we show them mistake they were not agreed with us. Even we let them tried from our glass and after that they were all trying to making excuses and manger was very rude and of the time . Then we didn’t order any food at all and just leave the restaurant.. so basically this restaurant is not for Indian people. And he tried to claim that restaurant is only for British people.

Booked table for three 2 days ago. Arrived this evening and placed at the back by the toilets. Food was inedible. Salty and enough grease to run a diesel locomotive engine for a lifetime. Completely devoid of flavour or spice. Also suspect beer is watered down. Will not be returning.

The best Curry in Guildford. Don't hesitate! Very good service in a small but well divided space. This is the place to enjoy a curry in Guildford. Also has a nice wine menu and the food menu is massive but has some very good chef's specials. The team will make you feel special and they are having fun with it.

I have been eating at this restaurant since I was 2 and it is by far my favourite. I have never found such a good curry in my 36 years living in the UK, Australia or China. The owners are amazing and polite. I only wish you could open a branch in Sydney, where I am now!

I ordered: Prawn Puri - ok Chicken Tandori - good Chicken Tikka Masala - absolutely awful. Far too much sugar to the point where it was inedible. Whatever you do, do not order this! It’s awful. Lamb Kahari - good; quite spicy however the lamb was overdone and very tough. Very chewy but the overall flavour of the dish was much better than and Masala. Naan Bread - standard Overall, I liked the food however we will not be ordering again. The chicken tikka masala was awful. Like an entire bag of sugar dumped in tomato soup. Absolutely dreadful. The delivery was during peak time so took a little longer than usual but arrived within the quoted time slot. The food arrived hot, always a bonus. However, felt the food was very overpriced for what it was and the quality.

4 of us just received our delivered food. Starters, mains/ sides…. all generally fine. We had 4 mains, two were lamb. The lamb meat wasn’t edible. To say it was chewy was an understatement. Truly appalling. I don’t say that lightly. The general taste and presentation of the food was fine. The lamb dishes however were worse than awful. Disappointing and we won’t be re ordering from this restaurant.

Another great traditional curry. I am consistently impressed by the very high quality here and the friendly team. A lovely feel to the place. Everyone's favourite, surely?
