Glad we decided to take a break at this garden centre cafe on our way back from Brighton. We were ideally looking for a loo and somewhere to grab an easy coffee. But we saw the menu and decided to have a late lunch and can recommend the ham egg and chips served with "proper thick cut ham" Also the omelette cooked with onion, spinach, tomatoes, and cheese. Meals are served hot, quick and a very decent portion. Nice cup of coffee, too. Staff are helpful and the venue is very clean.....the garden centre was stocked fully and not too big to have a stroll around.

Lunch with friends and a very good lunch it was. The staff are friendly, quick and efficient. There's a good choice on the menu, the food is well presented, the portion sizes certainly ample and very good value for money. There are separate eating areas for customers with dogs and, when the weather is warmer, an outside patio area.

tasteless coffee in a soulless environment we have visited here in the past when coffee shop was at the top it’s now where the aquatics centre was. the building is lacking character , the drinks we had were watery and lacking flavour , but if course paid top dollar for it ! why do these places make these changes and you end up paying more to get less - it was so nice before and now it’s very mediocre / poor - shame

This restaurant is so much better in its new venue on site. Yes there is still some tweaks to be made but the choice of food , the quality of the food and staffing is managed well. The restaurant has a dog friendly area and a play area. The big picture windows over look countryside and hopefully a wild flower meadow soon. Food is plentiful, with different options than the normal sandwich/ potato fare seen elsewhere. Food always arrives hot. The cream tea deal is very good. The only downside is the toilets which are very clean but maybe a better quality make would have been better. Worth the drive out of town.

Met friends for coffee and a snack. Friendly, helpful staff served our drinks without any delay and brought our snacks to our table as soon as they had been prepared. It's a light an airy place with plenty of seating and a separate area for dogs. The tables were cleared and cleaned as soon as the customers had departed. Good choice of items on the menu and reasonably priced with inviting special offers (like, at certain times, two breakfasts for the price on one).

Seemingly recently moved to a different position in Tenterden Garden Centre, Groves Coffee Shop and Restaurant is even more light and airy than it was before. We only called in for a coffee but that coffee was freshly made and very good. There's a good choice of cakes and snacks available and all served by friendly staff. An added bonus is that there is a dog friendly area.

Asked for a large Americano, the cup was small so asked if it was classed as large, told yes it's large. The cheese scones that we had were tastless, very stodgy and had to drink to swallow the scone. I live locally and have only come here three times but if that is the quality, will not be back.

I thought the whole place looked so much better as more room. Signage to the restaurant was excellent and felt I was on a treasure trail but found it outside in another big building by itself. Because it is new to me I wasn't sure about getting a tray but as I stood in the queue I could see that the trays are provided by the server at the till. Service was excellent and I must say I thoroughly enjoyed the gypsy tart that was left, beautiful texture and coffee very good as well. Will return.

My friend & I came for a coffee & cake while planning our shopping needs in the garden centre. We were confused of the system; we wen’t sure where to find menus, if they were on the tables or just on the boards, or if we needed to find a table first to order. So we decided to order a drink and work it out after. However, our drinks orders ended up becoming cakes as well, so we didn’t need to order any lunch after this. I’m still unsure how to order, but the tables did have numbers, so I presume that’s the system. I’ll visit again soon & work it out. The food from the kitchen looked good & home made. The scone was really nice & fresh- with cream & jam as well as a large latte it was just £6.75 (ish). Really can not argue with that. Also the option to have the scone warmed. The coffee is very good here.

From booking our table right to the end when we paid on the day, this by far is the best service I’ve experienced in a Garden Centre cafe! It goes to show a smile, welcome feel attitude can make someone’s day special and that’s what we felt when we visited this cafe (and believe me we’ve visited a lot of garden centres!) Mia (who served us) was very polite and made us feel welcome. I spoke to Cole who took our booking and he even made sure he gave us the best seat! I certainly will be back. Afternoon tea was delicious. There was a variety of choices to choose from. Thank you Grove Cafe Tenterden. Great find and outstanding service! You’ve got yourself a repeat customer! :)

We have been here quite a few times for coffee and each time the coffee has been good and the staff friendly and helpful. This time the coffee was just as good and the staff just as friendly and helpful but we called in late in the afternoon after a very sunny day and it was just too hot inside the restaurant to enjoy our coffee. We drank up and left as soon as we could. I appreciate the weather is something the cafe can not do anything but, on a very sunny day, it may be better to go in the morning rather than the late adternoon.

We bring my mum here alot and love having a look round usually having some lunch in the Groves Restaurant, which is normally excellent. So thought we would book for the festive lunch (turkey with all the trimmings). The dinner was ok, plates were too small for the amount of food and considering it was a Festive dinner... there were no crackers and lacked anything festive... apart from 2 very tiny trees taken from the shop, on the table... with the prices still on! For £11.95 it was all a bit bland and disappointing. However, it won't stop us coming here for their normal menu... we just won't come back next year for Christmas Dinner.

Took my grandchildren to this cafe on the Saturday before Christmas after visiting Father Christmas in the garden centre. Found the staff very polite and helpful even though it was extremely busy. Food was served reasonably quickly. Ideal for light lunches such as jacket potatoes with various fillings and a childrens menu which consisted of a main meal, a dessert and a drink all inclusive. Tables were cleared and cleaned quickly. Average prices. Would definitely visit again.

Called in at Tenterden Garden centre Sunday morning for some plants and thought we would start with a cooked breakfast in the café, only to be informed by the young girl at the cafe that they were to busy to serve us a cooked breakfast as they had a large party booked to arrive, we could have toast she said. Disappointed so left and went into Tenterden for breakfast (Honey bees - superb) and used an alternative garden center for my plants - wont be returning

I have been here a few times only for coffee and cake, and on this occasion a cheese scone which was fine. There is a good range of cakes and the restaurant is clean. My issue has been on several occasions one particular lady behind the till who has a really rude and unpleasant attitude. When she serves me she is so frosty and when I’ve attempted to be friendly to her she does not engage at all in a normal polite way. On this occasion I said hello to her face and she literally ignored me!! And then I heard her talking to the other staff members in a really unpleasant way, snapping and being sarcastic. I heard another staff member addressing her as ‘Evie’ so I guess that’s her name. I just don’t understand why people like this work in customer service and I won’t be visiting the cafe anymore which is a shame.

My idea of gardening is to plant things and let them get on with it, and the last thing you do is pay for plants so a visit to a garden centre doesn't come naturally to me. But I wasn't there to buy stuff anyway but enjoy a quick lunch in a pleasant atmosphere - which we did. Very good menu, really pleasant and helpful staff and a great place to eat on a cold winter's day. It was beautifully warm and bright. So, enjoy Tenterden shops by all means but be sure to have lunch here. It is worth the few minutes drive.

The coffee shop isn't exactly obvious. It looks like an after thought. A small serving counter and an area with garden furniture for seating. Looked very popular as all the seats were taken! We found a seat, when we were rudely interrupted by the lady clearing tables. She wanted to wipe the table and rather than saying 'Sorry could I wipe that' she had come between us all, wiped half the table then Excuse me'd to wipe the other half. This didn't go down well with me. I observed a little and noticed she really had no customer service skills. At Groves you need to order at the till - Adrian was serving on this Saturday lunch time. He was spot on. So on his game with his up-selling however he had confused us with what we actually wanted to order! The food wait was just around 15 minutes. And all came out just as ordered. The bacon and brie toasty was really nice. Did not like the coffee- ordered a soya latte, had half a mug of foam. Which soya milk was used too?! Not Alpro as would be expected in a coffee shop.A nice stop off if you're in the area, but I would't recommend travelling for a visit.

First time I have eaten lunch here. Visited with my parents. Service was friendly, but let down by poor quality and badly cooked food. Had a flan and salad; I expect a flan to be made from pastry and that the pastry has a bit of 'crunch' to it. Instead it was impossible to know if the flan was made out of pastry or a batter as it was so soggy it was inedible. I think the flan base was actually made from batter based on its consistency, which seems odd. The salad was fresh, but drowning in dressing. Ham, egg and chips looked like it had been thrown on the plate. Clearly the kitchen doesn't consider presentation.Would never eat lunch here again as quality control is so poor. Cakes are good value, so this a good place for a coffee and a cake, but lunches are overpriced and poor quality.

Sometimes bribery works: How to get three young grandchildren to tolerate a visit to a garden centre was one such excuse to do so.Thankfully, they were suitably pleased with the outcome at this garden centre restaurant. They each mixed and matched from the breakfast menu and it silenced them as they waded through their food and milk shakes. We thoroughly enjoyed our full Chief Weeder Specials and the accompanying silence. We paid £43 for five breakfasts and will certainly return to try their lunch menu and afternoon tea. Highly recommended cosy cafe.

Can't believe after paying £5.50 for a children's snack bag with a sandwich they bring out half a sandwich. The menu for the children's snack bag is not near where the items are kept. Have visited this cafe several times with friends and family. Yesterday Sat 3rd Oct was their first day under new management and it was organised chaos. There was unacceptable delays in getting the food prepared(30 mins for a toastie). Their only saving grace was the food was delicious. Oh and at least 15 mins in a queue to order the food. There seemed to be alot of staff not doing alot. The real sticking point was the owner came in and ordered food and didn't have a long wait, infact got served before other people. There were alot of complaints from people that have been visiting for years and were not happy. Too many good garden centres around to be this bad.
