Lovely and hot cod and chips and lovely sausages great portions very busy when we came not sure what more I can say really.

The second time I have bought from here and although the food isn’t bad the ladies serving need some lessons in customer service. They are rude and speak to you like they are doing you a favour. This is bad for business.

My hubby loves whitebait and a friend mentioned that they have it on the menu, so thought we'd give it a try I had the torpedo prawns. Meals were lovely, freshly cooked and plentiful very tasty, service was excellent staff polite and prices were reasonable, clean and tidy, would highly recommend.

As a customer that has been coming into you takeaway over the last 8 years feel sad to be writing this review. Firstly to the lady that has served us there with the short blonde hair for years…… You need to get back there. I always leave a tip when I fetch from there as we always have a great meal from you and feel it is deserved. Even if it is just a couple of pound. Today I fetched food that my husband fancied as was ill at home. I ordered and left my tip and usual. Drove back to hawkinge, only to find that the order wasn’t complete. Which meant driving back down get the rest of it. On arrival the 2nd time I expected the order to be ready to collect. Nope…… stood and patiently waited my turn to be told the fish cake is just going in. (See photo). After 5 minutes or so a bag is handed to me. On arrival at home it looked like the fish cake had been dropped (maybe on purpose) and was all split and crushed. On arriving there, no apology for the inconvenience and the girl going around the back to tell the boss that I had suggested “an apology might have been nice”. I felt the girls attitudes were appalling and dismissive. I get that these things happen but apologise at the very least! We won’t be returning.

The food is ok. However there is a 30/45 minute delay for your food while telephone orders and delivery drivers just walk in and push in front of you. I used to get takeaways here, and omg do I love fish and chips! But not anymore, never again

I ordered a mini cod and chips costing £8.00!! I've previously had what they name their Specials and all I got was some overcooked batter and half a dozen chips which weren't great so I opted for the slightly bigger portion but what a massive price increase! I waited over 40 minutes for the order, the staff were serving people who came after myself with similar orders and they were extremely disorganised! When I got my order the fish was absolutely the worst I've seen and tasted, it was literally greasy burned batter and black skin at the bottom and the tiny bit of fish was as dry as a bone!! The child looked dry and tasted ok but still left a burned after taste as they're definitely using cheap and nasty old burned fat that's not been cleaned for ages!! An utter disgrace and I walked all the way back and told the chef this and he just grimaced at me and said ok and looked away again to cook his next orders ! This place needs to be checked out for cheap and over used old cooking fat and clamping down on as they're not bothered about any constructive criticism from the customers whatsoever!!

Gone down hill recently, it was one of the best and sadly i won't be going back there,,,,,,oil dripping off the over cooked batter portion size was meant to be medium paid enough for it but it was actually small and not the first time this has happened and very over priced for what i got

Worst experience ever!!! Have never had any problems before today.. Clearly have new management and cheap ingredients/produce as all the food was disgusting.. Chips were oiley.. fish bites were 90% greasy batter and as for the new menu of Greek chicken skewers just don't waste your MONEY not to mention the cardboard burgers.. . Spent over £40 for delivery and regret it terribly. When I called the shop to ask for extra tarter sauce with the delivery I was told "no problem I will add it to the order" but when I received the order and the sauce was not in the bag I then called the shop to be rudely shouted at by a male I believe was Turkish or middle Eastern by the accent who then tried blaming his front counter staff.. Bad management in my eyes who took no responsibility and quickly passed the buck.. Had he of handled the call with less agression I wouldn't feel the need to write this bad review. Never again will I use Canterbury Road papas chip shop....AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!!!!!

Orderd 1 large cod 1 medium plaice 1 large chips curry sauce and mushy peas both bits of fish were literally all batter a tenner per bit of fish for that rubbish ! Absolutely disgraceful too charge that amount for fish won’t be going there again !

Lied about the greek menu they the souvlaki is with a manky thin wrap not a traditional greek pitta i am so disappointed will not be ordering again you are let downs the greek bus on the harbour arm is so much better and tgey have greek pitas too

I have written a review before about this place where it didn't quite live up to my expectation with regards to staff forgetting my order. I gave it three stars and made it clear it wasn't about the food. I had generally thought as f&c shops go the quality was good, just extremely slow service. All that said and done my wife ordered a meal for us from here today via Just Eat. She ordered 2x Chicken Soublaki Meals. The order arrived on time. It was packaged well and was hot. I opened the box to see a well presented meal. A lovely fresh flat bread in stacked quarters. A fresh salad comprising of lettuce, tomato and onion. Chips and three skewers of lovely cooked chicken with mild seasoning. The meal was accompanied by a pot of chicken sauce. The meal was plentiful and extremely tasty. I can certainly recommend it as an alternative to fish and chips. Not greasy and a healthier alternative altogether. Nice work and a pleasant surprise.

Brought cod and chips from Papas, Canterbury Rd, Folkestone. The fish was over cooked and the fish was dry. At £18.00 - an expensive meal for the cat!

We spent a weekend in Folkstone and decided to have fish and chips. Really you can't go to the coast and not have them. We were not disappointed. The fish was perfect as were the chips. The lady who served us was so friendly and efficient. The batter on the fish was just the way we like it, crispy but not too thick. It was the perfect end to our weekend. We know how difficult it is for these shops at the moment so we were happy to support this local shop. It was a pleasure.

This is not my preferred fish & chip shop in Folkestone, but I was hungry so called in about 8pm on a weekday night to order jumbo batter sausage and chips. I was a bit taken aback by the lack of a warm welcome - the woman serving just looked at me. And after I paid, there was no 'thank you, enjoy your food'. Unfortunately the food was a little soggy and not the hottest. We won't be hurrying back.

Regularly drive from Dover to order fish and chips from here. Absolutely delicious food, good North Eastern style batter - the secret is always in the batter. Large portions, a single medium sized chips is enough for two of us with our haddock. Great chippie

Well today we decided to have a takeaway and have a chains have a place and a grilled cod let me tell you the plaice was a Sweetest plaice I've ever had I'm not really a plaice lover the chips are always made lovely and chunky and soft and the grilled I was told the fish you would take 20 minutes it was a sweet as a nut it was absolutely lovely and moist flakey not burnt wow and ive asked for their homemade tartar sauce if they have it's lovely trust me it's good stuff well done trust me. Costas and the girls Angela, carol and naomi are great so carry on and keep up the good work 😉,🌞😎

The food was delicious, served quickly and almost instantly for our hungry toddler. That saved the day! Nice homemade feel. And what really made our visit was the lovely friendly staff. All smiles above their face coverings!

Having been a regular direct customer of Papa’s for years we were appalled by the service they gave us when we ordered through JustEat tonight and the wrong food was delivered to us (nowhere near the value of our order). We called Papa’s and they basically told us they had nothing to do with it and to complain to JustEat who have absolutely no one available to speak to...so we have food that is going in the bin and lost out on £35 worth of food that we were supposed to have delivered. So we have somebody else’s order which we won’t eat but Papa’s have still won as they get their money from JustEat.. I won’t ever use JustEat or Papa’s again out of principle. Customer service goes a long way and clearly Papa’s do not care.. really gutted

Disgusted at not only the prices but the fact that only half our order was fulfilled. We ordered delivery and when we called to ask for the rest of our order we were told they are closing .... so basically its tough! I am disgusted

We use this takeaway regularly. Particularly on a Saturday.,the staff are great and the food is freshly cooked and you get a really good size cod and chips.

Wow after all these months of shielding and being stuck at home and not being able to enjoy my favourite take away which is a chippie supper from Papas fish and chip shop in the Blackbull road, well now they're doing uber delivery, ain't that great!? Cod, scampi, pukka pies, gorgeous cheese burgers calamari fried prawns, gees all your favourites, thank god no stinky 'orrible plastic doners, and pizzas with meager toppings, just good honest freshly made food, oh and you can have your cod grilled, and on my favourite, battered soveloy oh wow, just yummy, so just uber a treat, Papas fish and chips, Blackbull Road opp the white horse pub, go on, you no it makes sense, ‍

Probably the best fish and chips I've ever had! Ordered by phone and when I walked into the shop it was ready all piping hot and beautifully packed in a box. The fish itself was excellent with a light non-greasy batter. I would thoroughly recommend Papa’s.

Papa takeaway was COVID organised, disinfected and barriered. Just as you would hope to find in this climate.Staff were friendly and welcoming, and the haddock was freshly cooked with a crisp batter and moist, beautifully cooked fish.A huge amount of chips accompanied them and the whole meal was just splendid.Well done team Papa. The experience was as good as the meal.

We live locally to Papa's so frequent often. Food is always fresh and staff always friendly despite the ongoing situation which is lovely to see!

Good ordering system, pleasant efficient staff, but best of all, really delicious cod, plaice and chips cooked to order. Just as fish and chips should be!

Definitely the best place for fish and chips (and they even do halloumi) in Folkestone... if not Kent!

Fancied curry sauce and chips so heads to papas instead of getting a takeaway elsewhere. I was Not happy with my service or food at all. Rude staff charged me twice for an item and refused to refund me. When I got home I noticed they completely messed up my order. Instead of curry sauce they gave me disgusting watery gravy. Chips were plain and really hard to stomach. Chicken nuggets were so rubbery I threw them away. I’m so annoyed I definitely won’t be returning.

4 stars because the food is next to none! The best fish and chips in Folkestone maybe Kent? But to be honest, the welcome and attitude I feel from front of house sometimes isn’t nice.... in fact makes me not want to return.... used a couple of times and if it weren’t for the food would be 1 star. If you don’t like your job or are having a bad day isn’t really my problem. Service with a smile would justify prices. Just honest feedback from someone that would use more often if I felt welcomed....

This place always seems busy, so I order on the phone and confirm when I'm there. The menu is very big and cater for the youngsters with too. No menus are available to take away so take pictures on your phone for future reference.

Always cooked fresh and would have got 5 stars if the chips were brown! I have only recently started buying from Papa's and am impressed with the size of the portions and nice staff!

I phone my order through and ask for double cooked chips, so they're cooked as I like them. Normal chips can be a bit soggy, in my opinion. Fish is well battered and tasty. The pies are good too. No take away menu is available but you can just take a picture of the full and extensive menu.

Weather was good, so we sat outside and enjoyed a tasty tea! Would recommend if you’re in the area. All freshly cooked.

Nous sommes allé dans cet établissement parce qu'à folkestone un samedi soir l'offre est limitée l'accueil vis à vis des français est mitigé personne ne parle notre langue. La vente a cette heure est uniquement à emporter le fish and chips est fait minute avec des produits frais mais est fade et uniquement assaisonner de sel est d'une mixture locale qui n'apporte rien. Pas de mayonnaise ni ketchup ou autres sauces. Les portions sont gargantuesque, un peu déçu car je pensais me régaler

We have issued this chip shop for years, and have always had quality food. This time however it was a completely different story...The chips which are normally full of flavour, were bland. But the worst part was the Steak Pukka pie which was burnt inside and totally inedible. It was early evening too, so no excuse for over cooking the food on display.

I bought a resident here for lunch and the staff were very friendly and suited his needs and the food was really nice and a good portion

Set away from the Roadside, this Eat In / Take Away was certainly worth a visit. On this occasion it was a Take Away of Cod and Chips, Curry Sauce and some Battered Mushrooms. A Clean and Very friendly environment , boasting a great choice in menu and a reasonably spacious area for both indoor and Outdoor eating and big enough not to feel all hot and bothered with the sheer intense heat that you might find with some other similar outlets. Whether you are simply passing, visiting the area or a local resident I think this has to be a good place to stop by if you are feeling hungry.. The YummyRoadster.

All four of us had fish and chips, different types and sizes and we all got exactly what we ordered and how we wanted it. Also had a tracle pudding to top it all off with a mug of tea. Maybe I am old school but thoroughly enjoyed it.

Called in here for fish and chips for 3 adults and 2 children visiting over a bank holiday. Parking on the road was not a problem and on entering the premises noticed it was spotlessly clean and obviously very popular on account of the amount of people inside waiting to be served (which is usually a good sign!). We did have to wait approximately 20 minutes for our order but not surprised as everything was freshly cooked. Worth the wait ..... the fish was served in boxes to take home which kept the batter lovely and crisp. Would definitely come here again.

Came here on a Friday evening for cod and chips. Service was fairly speedy, staff friendly and premises clean, neat and tidy and well organised for a busy evening shift. Lovely food. Piping hot. Will definitely come here again.

Waiting... Waiting... Waiting... Everytime I have been to this place I have spent a good 20-30 minutes waiting. On one occasion I ordered a portion of chips was kept waiting for 20 min before I asked what was going on... Clearly they had forgotten my order. In fairness the food isn't bad... About 7/10 but you will have to wait a rediculous amount of time. I have to say I have now stopped going there. There are better places. I can recommend Dagostinis in Dover Rd, The Seafarer in Cheriton High St. as very good alternatives that serve good food without waiting for your hunger to pass.

This was my first visit so I have no idea if the waiting time is usual, it was minimum 20 minutes. All I wanted was cod and chips. But - and this is the really important part - the cod and chips were excellent, all splashed with suitable quantities of salt and vinegar. Packed in a box and bagged. Kept warm until home.

We had Cod and Halibut along with a large order of chips. They were all good. The large chips was a huge portion. Overall a good experience.

Nothing worse than a burnt Plaice. Plenty of chips, but even they were soggy and no I didn't have them in a plastic bag so no excuse of condensation. I was so looking forward to my dinner yet so disappointed 😞

Looked online and this place had good reviews. We were in town for a wedding reception, but wanted fish & Chips by the sea beforehand.

Papas takeaway, is by far Folkestone's best fish & chip shop, everything is fresh and freshly cooked. The staff are always friendly and helpful. Highly recommended

Really wished we had cooked...... The chips were awlful... Overcooked sharp edges... Seriously not how you want your chips... Always used this place and never been let down before.... suppose there is always a first.... But me Calamari was good .

We got off a Ferry at Dover last night and driving home just pulled of the motorway at Folkestone looking for a chippy. This was the first one we came to and we were shocked at how good it was. Chips were really good, not sloppy or greasy but nicely crisp. Fish was also excellent. I had the Cod while and the missus had Plaice and we both really enjoyed them. We also heard lots of approving comments from our two kids who each had a 'chicken nuggets kids meal'. The portions were suitably big, the kids were actually a bit shocked at how many chips they got.

We had a family treat fish and chips. My with had the grilled cob which she really enjoyed. The chips where Devine and the fish was not to greasy. I phoned the order ahead it was all cooked to order and ready on time. One of the best fish and chip dinners in a long time will go again

O.M.G .We went here after reading Trip Advisor and were not disappointed in the slightest.Enormous piece of cod together with "small"portion of chips (enough for two) cooked to order and to perfection makes this restaurant a first class takeaway. Do not miss out!!

I've been coming to papas for the whole period of the shop being opening and previously went to papas in town before this one opened but this one is closer to home , the last 6 months I have been a handful of times and every time my partner keeps telling me it's a one of meal and I can't fool myself anymore that the food has gone down hill , the batter on the fish and sausage is soggy or the fish has been over cooked and is so dry ! No nice fresh cooked non greasy fish and chips anymore since the lovely other man left , I also couldn't help but notice the way the girls at the front get spoken to . It really was disgusting and I don't know how they put up with it , I know it's a busy Friday night but when they are only asking where the food is as we are waiting 35 minutes and they are being spoken to so unprofessional by the chef at the back . I couldn't believe the way he spoke to the girls , the two girls are always so polite and willing to help . Running around that counter to satisfy the customers, great customer service from them. I think I'll be using the papas in sandgate road again , give this shop a miss if you can !!!!

Desde mi última visita y revisión" hacer masa" Cod decidimos darle otra oportunidad, así que fuera o pescado papas y papas fritas que fuimos. Sí, había una cola que está bien, pero de nuevo, el servicio era lento lento lento y en el momento en que hizo que el contador nos hambriento y agotado. Pedimos 1 x pescado y patatas fritas, salchichas y patatas fritas 2x y 1x de pollo hamburguesa y patatas fritas, ahora confía en que no una orden difícil? ? ? ? . Esperamos y esperamos y al final nos dijeron que nuestra orden estaba lista, así que de vuelta a casa, sólo para descubrir que el bacalao y las patatas fritas eran aceitosa y horrible, las salchichas y el pollo parecía barata hamburguesa era en realidad una ternera hamburguesa.

El personal es amable y acogedor y la comida es tan buena, no tengo un problema con una capacidad blackbull road, pero qué puedo decir. . Y nada mejor que el original. pappas.

Just simply the best Fish and Chips in the area. We absolutely love coming here. The chips are cooked to perfection - not to oily/fatty and the amount of S&V enhances the flavours. The fish is wonderful and the batter isn't too much either and again - not oily. Love coming here and definitely prefer the Blackbull Road one to the Town Centre. The service is always friendly and they are just amazingly good - even when they are busy they are efficient.

Brilliant fish and chips and open all day on Friday for those lunch time cravings. Brought chips for myself and my colleagues, ready in good time and generous portions. Prices are average and staff are friendly.

Tried this place for the first time recently and I have to say it was quite possibly the best fish and chips we have ever had!! Although I waited for nearly 40 mins as it was packed , I didn't care one bit! It was well worth the wait . We both said the cod was so fresh and chips bang on too. As a family we used to go a smaller fish shop nearer to where we live but that became terrible. We have been struggling to find a decent fish and chip shop locally and realised we should have tried Papas a long time ago. Fish and chips cooked to order. Piping hot and served in nice boxes. Absolutely fantastic. Cannot fault them. For a Friday evening, as expected it was very busy but we only waited 10 minutes. The place ran like clockwork. All the staff on duty we very capable of running a tight ship. We took our fish and chips to Dover!! And ate them over looking the sea.(fish was amazing) Still too hot to eat when we got there. Will definitely go back there again. Wonderful!!

Visited therw yesterday whilst leaving the mermaid beach. Really fancied fish and chips. Whilst traveling to one recommended on Google came upon thia takeaway. A xouple of tables inside. Yhe two ladies front office were very friendly and very hot as no AC in there. Ordered takeaway. All i can say is that the portions were huge. The fish was freshly cooked and very worth waiting for. Only small thing was not enough salt and vinegar on food and no sachets to take away. Whilst I was there,there were a couple of orders for children's meals. They looked brilliant and obviously very popular for a Wednesday afternoon. A lucky find xx

I was hoping that this was going to be as good as the one in the town. It isn't, not by a long margin. After ordering I waited and waited and after 15 mins I finally got around to being served. One waitress asked me if I wanted salt & vinegar, so she prepared that and then served another customer. Another waitress then came to do the other portion I asked for and promptly asked me if I wanted salt & vinegar, why? Surely common sense should have prevailed and one waitress to serve & one to do the orders. This is probably why everything is so slow, there is no organisation at all. The food was OK, nothing special. The chips didn't taste nice although the fish was very nice and enjoyable.

J'étais déjà allée au restaurant de chez eux, j'ai voulu tester la formule fish and chips à emporter, plus économique et fort agréable par un grand soleil.La qualité et la quantité sont toujours au rendez-vous, très bien cuisiné, très copieux même pour un plat dit "medium" (je ne veux pas imaginer la taille du "large"), rien à dire à ce niveau. Les menus enfants sont aussi bien préparés, bien présentés etc...Le seul souci c'est l'attente.....30 minutes c'est un peu long !

We have been using papas from day one but in the last 3 months on a Friday night always out of cod&huss by 5.pm not good enough when you complain to the owner in sandgate rd. It falls on deaf ears. You need to order more fish and look after you customers.

We used to use a smaller chippy and out of loyalty to them, carried on inspite of people raving about papas, but instead of upping their game to meet papas they slumped, so we started to use papas, and it's brilliant.

we waited quite a while for our two delish fish meals at the takeaway counter. We would have sat down inside but the entry was so inconspicuous we didn't see it until we were leaving! anyway it was sunny out in front at a bistro table.

We live in Hawkinge which is a car journey for us to use this 'chippie'. It is well worth the journey! .Every time we use it the food is cooked while you wait so you may have a short wait but is is always perfect. There is a good choice on the menu board. I would advise 'phoning your order through as it will be ready at a given time and cut out the waiting!

Passed several times before actually going in ourselves to try. Each time passing queues fairly long. Good sign. Very popular with locals and visitors like us. Both hubby and I opted for the medium size cod and chips with a curry sauce side order. Came to £12. Very good portion of meaty cod, cooked well, just a tad too greasy, but hey this is fish n chips. Chips were real big cut typical chippy chips. Were great. We both enjoyed our takeaway huddled up in the car away from the bitter wind. Mind you car stank afterwards and i'm sure blew away the customs officers as we headed off back to France. Kids made us promise to take them next time. Cant get good fish n chips in france , well at least not where we live :((( Do recommend, and we will return.Ohh yes a final word. The young lady serving at the counter extremely happy, smily and very polite. A real plus to the restaurant.

The lunch time special served from 12pm is £3 and consists of a lovely bed of fresh chips and a bigger than standard portion of cod. All for a great price.Their cod is one of the best I've ever tasted. So light and fluffy and not overly done.

It's a chippy! Not a brilliant chippy and certainly not a bad chippy. But the place has had money spent on making it feel clean, bright and modern and the food was alright.

When we have fish and chips for dinner we order it from here. We phone the order through which means we do not have to wait around for ages. The large cod and chips are massive. The kids meals are great too. Very good fish and chips.

Coming into Dover on the ferry, I reckoned a fish and chips was just what we needed before the last leg of our journey home. The reviews for Dover fish & chip shops are dire, Folkestone fares better.We were actually heading for the city centre Papas but spotted this one on the way in. The postcode is listed incorrectly. Correct postcode is CT19 5PH.Anyway - this is your traditional fish & chips done just perfectly. We ordered two medium fish & two large chips. That was just right for two adults plus two kids. Everything was freshly cooked. The fish was delicate, flaked nicely and was still moist. The batter crispy - neither too thick nor too thin. The chips chunky and crispy.One word of advice. Take your time to read the menu. I spotted salt and pepper squid after ordering - now that would have been a nice addition.Second word of advice - they take plastic. I spent 10 minutes searching for a cash machine. Pointless exercise.Finally, they have two tables inside & another two outside. So thankfully our car does not remind us of yesterday's cheeky snack.Finally, finally the food does take a while. But if you prefer your food served fast and accept it will have been sitting a while, Dover awaits you.

I come from Hythe every week for my cod bites and chips with my husband .. massive portions and very reasonably priced excellent service and by far much nicer and bigger than the papas in town on Sandgate high street .. the man cooking is alaways polite and conversive and the girls polite .. yes you do have to wait but what would you rather freshly cooked fish or the remainder from lunch or dried out fish .. I have yet to fault this place and I highly recommend everyone try it for service value quality and quantity so far it's been the best chippy

I have never written a review before, but the food I just collected & attempted to eat, needed to be reviewed!The chips were white & "wet", half cooked if that. The cod was so greasy the fish fell out of the batter when I tried to remove it from the paper lined box that it had become glued to.The chicken bites in the children's meal, although thankfully actual chicken breast, were brown & grey and smelt so bad I took them away my son.My partner rarely leaves food, yet I've just thrown away 3 full meals.Nothing was in any way edible!

This is by far the best fish and chip shop in Folkestone, only thing that lets it down is the waiting time. I understand that the fish is cooked to order but I had to wait 35 minutes on my last visit and I know it doesn't take that long to cook a piece of fish. I've even tried phoning my order through but still have a lengthy wait when I get there. Will still visit as I love the fish but surely there must be a way t speed it up a little.

We get fish suppers here around once a month. Fish portions are huge and cooked to order. Always served in a box, so the great chips only have the remaining room in the box, so not the largest. Very busy on Thursday and Friday nights but I think that is a good thing.

We live about 5 mins away so it is easy to nip up there if my wife doesn't feel like cooking.Last time I went there I asked for the fish to be lightly cooked saying we really prefer it moist and slightly undercooked...Okay it sounds fussy but it is possible but not here apparently...when I asked for the order to be taken out of the fryer I was told it wasnt cooked enough...big mistake! At home I discovered both haddock and skate were grossly overcooked. The flesh was very dry and the batter thick so the outside was done but it was soggy inside,we now go across the road to the Hungry Horse....their fish and chips are excellent. and include peas.they buy in the cod and use homemade batter...it shows.. Even better there is change out of £9 compared with the minimum tenner at Papas.

Visited here recently and had to wait for the food as it was cook to order. However the wait was worth it. Great food great quantity and great customer service !!I will be definetly going there again.

shop in BLACK BULL ROAD, COULDNT FIND THE LISTING FOR THIS SHOP. is always very busy which is a good sign that the food is of good quality, which it is, several staff working on service, you can call in advance and collect your order later. good portion sizes regards to chips, we normally share a portion as they are so big. good selection of fish available, but the let down for me was, ordered a beef and onion pie, for them to bag up all of our order while waiting for my pie to be MICROWAVED! WHY???? other chips shops put them in the warmer with the fish, savaloys and chicken etc. why microwave, as a result the pie was dry, soggy and flat, wont be ordering a pie again, will stick to the chips, such a shame that everything else is in good order, presented nicely and served as soon as they possibly can.

Great idea of cooking to order knowing that everything is freshly cooked but this does cause a few issues such as very slow service at taking orders, followed by an agonizing wait for the food. The fish and chips are presented nicely in a box But there are only a handful of chips which are very nice and the cod was greasy (not drained properly). My honest opinion is they could do much batter.

My husband and I often chose Papas for fish and chips because a medum sized fish and small chips does us both amply and is very reasonably priced plus delicious.However, the last time I went there, it was really busy and we had to wait. We pre-ordered, but by the time I got served the fish had been sitting about too long so that when I eventually got home 10 minutes later it was not very nice at all. On that occasion my son had a Pukka pie, which he was quite happy with. Staff could be a bit more friendly, but they are working flat out, so that is excusable.

Had to queue for ages, they cook to order and service is mega slow. The chips are nice but very small portions and the fish is floating in grease. It's not worth the visit in my view. There are better places I would rather travel to.

I only live down the road so it's quick and simple if I can't be asked to cook. I went up one day with an averagely sized order. Two cheese burgers, one hamburger, one scampi, 2 large chips and 2 onion ring portions. It took only 10 minutes considering they were quite busy that day. So all in all excellent and would highly recommend this place.
