A very disappointing experience. The fish batter was greasy and not very crisp. The chips were not the best, thin and, again, greasy; the portion was too big for a normal appetite. I suspect the cooking oil was not as hot as it should have been as it was a quiet time, late afternoon. The price was top of the range at £10.30 for a medium cod and (too many) chips so I would have expected better. They could quite easily reduce the portion size and take the cost under £10. The staff were friendly and welcoming however, so an extra point for that.

This is now trading as Palace. Marios was generally very good but Palace haven’t stepped into their shoes. This is the first time in 65 years that I have had rock eel that has yellow mushy bits inside it. I didn’t know what they were so phoned the shop and they said that it was ok when they sent it! I said it isn’t ok now and I would like a large cod in exchange and would they deliver. They said they wouldn’t deliver and if I wanted a large cod I would have to pay more! I declined and took the mushy yellow rock back to the shop - they said it was batter which had been caught when the fish flipped over! If it was I didn’t in any case want rock eel with mushy uncooked batter inside it. I took the medium cod home and dissected it. I surmised that they were cooking the fish at too high a temperature as the inside of the batter was soggy and there was a hint of a yellow soggy line on the cod! So - Palace fish shop owners - please learn how to fry fish properly before you subject the public to your experiments. Also please give us proper fat chips, not lots of hard crusty ends from the bottom of the pan. If you are still in a business I will try again next year.

Ordered through just eat, my review wasn't loaded only left 1 star but no description was uploaded onto just eat so thought I would post a review here! No salt and vinegar on chips as ordered, black hair found on savaloy and was cold, a black fibre of some sort on a chip, the batter was soggy and doughy, and had a funny taste, the chips was tasteless and some were green. They was 20 minutes late, no apologies when dropped off. Overall very disappointed and the food was not nice at all, or worth the money. I use to love their food, this was our go to chippie in Dover.. never again! 🤢

A year ago portions and quality was good. Now, pies are soggy as they microwave them in front of you. Chip portion sizes have shrunk massively. Lost alot of love for this place. So sad. They took advantage of a couple who have had a drink. Poor. Castle Street fish bar in future

We ate our meal in their restaurant area, good service, tasty F+C, the room was a little away from the fryers so it wasn't too noisy. My only criticism is that the 'cider' on the menu is a can of Strongbow and I'd say £5 is a bit steep for that!
