Orchard Lane Coffee House in Shepway

Came here for our morning coffees and they were just ok. Dirty chai taste funky and the flat white was meh. Inside, lovely decor and really does look like a nice place to hang Staff were polite and friendly

Sensational coffee and matcha and delicious Swedish buns. Food is vegan, only the dairy milk isn’t. They don’t always have lots of food left in the counter so come early if you’re wanting to eat! Worth a visit for the coffee and the buns. Only complaint is the charge for alternative milk.

This is a beautiful little coffee shop serving very good speciality coffee and offering a great selection of delicious cakes. We had the vegan snickers and the biscoff twix. We sat outside in the sun watching the world go by. A little gem in Sandgate.

Our 3 mile walk from Hythe to this cafe was worth it for the excellent cappuccinos (and the Swedish buns were very good too). Highly recommended, the best cappuccino we’ve had for quite some time.

Looking for coffee on a cold January morning, 10th to be precise, we chanced upon the Orchard Lane Coffee House. What a great find. Possibly due to the time of year and climatic conditions the establishment was not so busy but there was pleasant noise from those customers already in situ. Service was friendly and swift. Coffee was very good as was the vanilla bun. Anyone perusing the plethora of antique-type shops would be wise to pay the Orchard Lane Coffee House a visit. If I am in Sandgate again I will certainly return. Thanks to all responsible for a great little establishment!

Delicious coffee and a vegan pastry, friendly service without too much of a wait. We got our order to take away as the cafe was busy and crowded. More gluten free options would be good, but otherwise, I can’t rate this place highly enough.

Popped into Orchard Lane while on a family walk from Folkestone to Sandgate. My daughter is vegan, and has had cakes online from Orchard Lane Coffee House before, so she was keen to stop in and get some refreshments. Full disclosure - I am not a vegan by any stretch of the imagination - however, I do love a good cake, and a decent coffee. I got both at Orchard Lane Coffee House. The coffee - excellent, couldn't fault it. And the cake? Oh my. I had a Twix Biscoff. It was incredible. Best cake I have had from a bakery for many years - and I mean ANY bakery, vegan, or not. And in that, I am including the fancy bakeries in Venice, Rome, Paris - it was just amazing. I mean, it's just a cake - but to be able to produce something like that with no dairy, etc.....hats off to Orchard Lane. For all the people concerned that a vegan cake might not be any good....go here. Try one. You won't regret it.

Friendly, welcoming staff. Nice coffee. Outdoor seating. Dog friendly. Will definitely visit again and recommend to friends. Would be good if they had proper indoor seating for colder days.

Based on the famous buns I read about we had to give them a go. Absolutely worth it!! Very friendly service and a range of other savoury and sweet snacks on offer, but sadly not a full menu (unless I missed it).

I have visited Orchard Lane several times over the last year. Great takeaway service all very COVID safe. The cakes are very tasty. My sister visits here regularly and praises their coffee and vegan friendly cakes.

Lovely lunch catching up with friend. Staff were very friendly and helpful. There is something on the menu for everyone. Caters for vegetarian and vegans too. Several Coffee and tea choices. Food was delicious and the cakes were amaze balls. Took some home for the hubby. Definitely recommend and definitely will be returning.

As an ex coffee bar owner I am very elitist when it comes to the preparation of the bean. Top quality roasts at this venue with the added bonus of the genuine relaxed staff who make this venue an absolute pleasure to visit. Christopher

Really great coffee, tea, food and service in a friendly cafe with a nice atmosphere. Out of all the places in Sandgate this one is my favourite as it has the most character and everything I have tried is really fresh and tastes great!

My wife and I are regulars here for three main reasons. 1. The coffee is the best in the local area. 2. The food is freshly made, modern and tasty. 3. Great service from all team members.

Heard rumours of a gem of a coffee shop in Sandgate by the sea and it did not disappoint!! The barista with glasses was like he was from Shoreditch itself!! A joke of a coffee and I mean that in a good way...I ate, chatted, and drank several cups of coffee! Must have drank too much of the black stuff as I was considering a vegan menu as a go to standard...they didn't have anything on the menu that isn't up my street...the streets of London...the streets of Sandgate...no difference...apart from the sea and fresh air and polite people. Coffee = same if not better...KEEP IT UP!! I'll be back soon...

Top quality coffee, absolutely ripping eye contact. Honestly, service is great, coffee even more so.

The coffee here is just the best around. The main barista is a young male who is perhaps shy but he doesn't look you in the eye which makes service somewhat cold and lacking. Such a great shame as to have someone welcoming in place would be so much better and add to the already excellent coffee.

Great atmosphere and quality food and drink just a street back from the sea. Wonderful vegan treats to accompany a good range of drinks. I enjoyed avocado on toast which was well presented and tasty, accompanied by a rhubarb fizz. Just the ticket before the short cycle back to Folkestone along the sea front. The owner couldn't have been more welcoming.

We came by chance on this cafe. Having seen a number of others in the immediate area we came back to this one. It was absolutely the right choice. Very good quality coffee and the large cup is not bucket sized! Delicious home made cakes - and for once they are genuinely home made - you can tell from the look, taste and the fact that when we discussed the recipe for one with the owner he was able to discuss the recipe in detail. Can’t recommend this highly enough. A truly serendipitous find! .

Stopped by for a coffee and ended up having proper good breakfasts. Jackie had the delicious pancakes and I thoroughly enjoyed my Avocado toast. The apple and ginger juice is scrumptious

I have been here a few times now, both for food and just for coffee with friends or my boyfriend and we all love it! The coffee is incredibleu and the food is delicious. It’s more of a lunch brunch type place to go but it’s not our local! Would highly recommend

If you’re looking for a truly good coffee you can’t go wrong with this place. They really care about it tasting good & are perfectionistic in their approach, and it shows.

Myself and a friend visited on Sunday 17th November at approximately 10:30 am after a quaint, windy walk along the beachfront. We initially had a mooch around the cute shops and browsed the eatery options, whilst others looked great, we were drawn to the quirky decor of Orchard Lane. I expect independent quality local business to cost that little more, however I found these prices very reasonable for the quality received. The deserts are clearly made in house and all looked delicious, I had a single piece (slab/generous portion) of one of the nicest brownies slices I've had the pleasure of eating, teamed with a delightful hot chocolate. Both top quality, well presented and tasted great! We also scouted some fresh toasties (with thick doorstop bread) being created and they really did look amazing, we can't wait to give one of those a go.

Excellent food let down by abysmal service. Waited half an hour to be served by the only person out the front - a young lad with glasses, while he chatted at the counter and checked his phone - didn’t even acknowledge us. Eventually we caught the lovely kitchen girl, who was clearly trying to do a million things at once, with no support from her colleague, to ask if we should order at the counter as we had been waiting such a long time. She apologised profusely and informed us that it was indeed table service - she took our order immediately and brought our food to us within ten minutes. The food was absolutely delicious and very well presented. She and the food saved our experience today, as the service (or lack there of) we received from the person who should’ve been serving us, was nonexistent - a shame, as the service we’ve received from other members of the OL team in the past has always been excellent.

We've visited Orchard Lane several times and we have enjoyed ourselves more and more on each visit!

Visited today with my wife. Just went for coffee and cake. The premises was well decorated but more in a modern style. It was only when we started to order that we realised it was ‘Vegan’. Being in our mature years and had we known then it’s quite possible we would not have go. However, that’s our personal preference so please do not let me dissuade anyone from going because I am sure it would suit the younger generation.

One of the best coffees you will find in Sandgate. It has a lovely atmosphere as the sun streams through and is a lovely place to sit and watch Sandgate go by. Some nice vegan food and gluten free treats at reasonable prices. Will go again.

My friend and I were after a catch up over lunch and decided to try out Orchard Lane. We grabbed one of the last tables (there aren't that many) and ordered at the counter.

Drinks are fine, but the vegan food offered seemed poor. Vegan food can be great food but I'm not sure this cafe does it many favours. New approach needed - or a new chef perhaps?

Visited here with my wife, our friends and their 5 yr old on Saturday afternoon. This was my first visit and I'll definitely pop in again when we're next nearby.

Sam knows his coffee, from beans to bar pressure to critical temperature. Very few people around here know how present a great coffee. Sam you are the man!!!

I have been to orchard lane coffee house a couple of times and every time has been a pleasure. Wide range or teas and more than one alternate milk to choose from to cater for everyones tastes. The cakes are amazing and the soup (sweet potato and coconut) I tried was delicious. The staff are super friendly and gave me lots of information on the contents of their food which I needed as I was a 30day healthy living programme and could not have gluten, wheat, dairy, soy, refined sugar and caffeine. Who says you can't eat out when your living a healthy lifestyle!? These guys cater for all of that! :D Added bonus that their seating outside is a sun trap for these colder but sunny days! Will definitely be visiting again!

This is a beautiful, friendly and inviting little coffee shop. Providing fantastic service and a reasonably priced menu... definitely a Gem to add to the appeal of Sandgate!!

Best pancakes ... beautiful coffees and they looked after my little lady with a wonderful milkshake. The owners are absolutely fabulous. Will absolutely be back! Thank you.

Went in one morning for a coffee and some breakfast for me and my son. Lovely little coffee shop, reasonable prices, delicious coffee. They sell cawston press cartons, which I prefer giving to my son. Definitely going to revisit for some lunch with friends!

I come to this coffee shop regularly. Either Aline or with my nan or a friend. Foods good, comfy seats, friendly service, amazing vegan cakes! And of course really good coffee. It’s got a really nice vibe and can’t recommend enough!

I am vegan and was served dairy crème fraiche here on a menu item clearly listed as vegan. I am disgusted and appalled and will never be returning to this establishment. The only good thing was the very nice young waiter. Vegans and those with allergies- do not eat here, beware as they seem incapable of taking responsibility for such a dire mistake. Absolutely disgusting.

We've been to Orchard Lane several times and our experience is always a really lovely one. The coffee is great, the food is great (gluten-free, dairy-free and Vegan and Vegetarian options aplenty), the decor is great! The cakes in particular are outrageously good. It's got a great vibe and is run by lovely people. Definitely worth popping by for a coffee on the way to the beach.

I like pretty much all of the cafes in Sandgate but it took me a while to try this one. To my mind, they make the best coffee in Sandgate. Servings are small but made with care and using very high quality coffee. Highly recommended.
