The Captain's Table in Shepway

Must confess you’ll find me in a cafe most weekends as I travel about a bit with my job however this place has just gone to the top of my list. Service and food was outstanding with a lovely view of the harbour. I can’t believe people don’t understand the cash only🤔.

We were looking for a Sunday roast, so having frequented the Cabins table on numerous occasions before we decided to give their Sunday roasts ago. It was one of the nicest roasts we have eaten out, the food was cooked to perfection, it was hot from start to finish, and the portion size was generous, would recommend this Sunday roast to anyone. Well done to the Captains Table, we will be back.

Just had a fantastic lunch here for the four of us. Two captains breakfasts, eggs benedict and chicken burger. All were really nice and great value. Definitely recommended.

First time visiting and what a fantastic surprise. Recommend to go by a friend and well worth the visit. We went for a breakfast and it was superb. The food was all well cooked and tasty. All freshly prepared and arrived soon after ordering. The service was excellent and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Changing a couple of items from the set breakfast was not a problem at all and everything was ready back to us to ensure the order had been taken correctly. Well worth the visit and will definitely go back. The cost was about what you would expect to pay, but full value for money as the quality of food and the service was excellent.

Hamburger not good, is it really beef, overcooked, I don't recommend!! Potato in dressing gown overcooked but the cheese not melted... in short, no!! Do not serve alcohol pi.

We stayed at the Ship Inn, next door, and they recommended here for breakfast. For various reasons I made it once, though I had a take away baggette as well. The good reviews are well earned. Whilst my food was simple - bacon baggette - it was good, bacon was crispy but not burnt & the portions are huge. That last part was from looking around. Cheap brekkie or a drop in lunch on a budget this is a place to come

This is the best start to the day… breakfast with a view… the food is lovely and fresh with a menu that caters for multiple pallets… the staff are friendly and helpful, the prices are reasonable and the views of the harbour are great too… this is a great place to visit and you won’t be disappointed

We came here based on reviews. All I can say is from the poor welcome to the miserable goodbye, it was an experience that left me feeling that I would not be returning. We had the captins special breakfast, tomatoes not cooked through, and hash browns had soggy botoms. It's not that special. We came in from the rain. I said hello to the waitress, no response just a glare. Overall poor customer service. Why didn't I complain? what's the point with the attitude shown.

Popped in very early so was empty, had a decent cappuccino and plumped for the Eggs Benedict, was not disappointed. Good portion size and tasted fantastic. Recommended. Good value for breakfast don't forget they accept cards but prefer cash if possible.

We was recommended to visit this place for the best breakfast around. I'm so glad that we did.. food was amazing and service was exceptional. As a wheelchair user I was worried that I wouldn't be able to visit due to a couple of steps at the entrance but we went in the hope they had another entrance or something. Instead they had a ramp that they use over the steps so I was delighted that we did decide to give it a try. Portions were very generous and everything was cooked as we asked it to be. Would 100% highly recommend

This is the second time we have been here. The staff are lovely. The food is excellent, we had two breakfasts and there was plenty on the plate. It is good value for money as our breakfasts also came with a drink. We will definitely be going back again. The place is very clean and tidy and they also allow dogs.

Could well be my new favourite breakfast spot, in Folkestone. Friendly, efficient staff, clean and tidy restaurant with attractive decor and chilled atmosphere. Food is of high quality, served quickly, piping hot and delicious. I felt that the food and drinks were fairly priced. Couldn't fault my visit.

Nice place. My partner was going to take pain meds and without asking brought a glass of water over to the table .very nice of the girl who did that .

Had a rare moment to enjoy some time with my 13 year old and so we had a lovely walk along the beach and stopped for breakfast at the Captain’s Table. Really delicious and quickly prepared food, comfortable surroundings, and Kelly, our waitress, was really lovely and friendly. Will definitely be returning!

Fish and chips lunch here on Saturday was delicious, plentyful , hot and well presented, by delightful friendly staff. Only visiting for the day so parking could pose a problem as unfamiliar with the area. Only real downside was the lack of seperate washroom facilities. Just one toilet to serve the premises, with some chest freezers right outside it.. Not sure about this. But overall I'd definitely visit again.

Been here a few times before we found the diamond cafe just round the corner. Food is okay here but in my opinion expensive for what you get and no atmosphere. Try the diamond cafe just round the corner with better portions, good value for money and excellent atmosphere. You wont believe the difference.

Nice clean cafe, polite staff. They’re very generous with the cheese on the jacket potatoes which I loved and a really decent tasting and styled salad. A little pricey for a jacket though to be honest.

The cafe was ok it was a very busy which was nice so we could have a coffee in relatively peace and however we did sit there for quite a while before somebody acknowledge us and came over to us there was no signage saying whether they would come to the table or we should go to the counter which was very however I can say the lady that served us was very sweet and very polite and we were served quickly and the coffees were hot

Had a great breakfast which inluded coffee and toast. Mypartner had poached eggs on toast and a side of black pudding and I had the works!

Okay breakfast, service was good.

Was a bit of a struggle to locate easily but once we found it, we were extremely chuffed once we took bites into our baguettes! The food quality was fantastic, the sausages are proper herby and meaty and the bacon was of decent thickness! The baguette was freshly baked making it nice and crispy! And the chips were pretty good as well! Would 100% return and recommend!! The waitress wasn't the most cheerful but it was the day before New Year's Eve and was pleasant enough, so take that as you will! Would still return!

Went with 33 students: definitely tested the kitchen and waiting staff! We'd booked ahead and we were all grouped together on separate but neighbouring tables. Food was awesome. Proper full English breakfasts and as much extra toast as we wanted. I had some great cups of tea, and everyone else was happy with the drinks they chose. Staff were very patient despite some students changing their orders at the last moment, and we weren't even charged for a breakfast cancelled when it arrived (sorry). Nice location near the harbour as well, was great to pop out and watch the tide coming in. I highly recommend.

This is a good-sized restaurant, right on the quay, with exceptionally, pleasant, helpful staff. It caters for disabled people and is dog friendly, unlike the Harbour Inn. Service is rapid, even on busy days and there is a good selection of food available. My only complaint is that there is a very poor menu for vegetarians and vegans. I chose the meat-free breakfast (served all day) and this is ok if you like potato and beans. I could be mistaken, but it seemed that in addition to the two hash browns, the bubble and squeak pattie and the deep-fried vegan sausage seemed to be made out of the same mash. The tomatoes were cooked and the beans were hot. There were plenty of mushrooms. Vegetarian options included the obligatory macaroni cheese and a grated cheese (cheddar) salad. In all, there was not a lot on offer. My wife's mushroom omelette was passable but overcooked. But, if you are looking for good, old-fashioned fish and chips, a traditional breakfast and a range of other favourites, from what I could see, this is the place to come.

absolutely excellent food, have been back twice in 2 weeks now and both times first class food and service, even though i just have ham 2 eggs and chips and friend has the most perfect burger ever, it could not be cooked better than it is, all food is locally sourced where possible, i cannot praise it enough so well done all at the captains table

I know the breakfast here is 10000% amazing but the lunch is on top of the world. The jacket potato is very moorish and so delectable my husband says the captains burger is the best burger he has ever had.

If I could give this place a 1000 out of 10 I certainly would. The captains breakfast is my ultimate favourite here and my pregnant army veteran wifey absolutely craves there awesome poached eggs. There is no place in Folkestone that does a banging breakfast like here.

Situated on the harbour arm, this cafe has an extremely varied menu, from breakfasts to fish, burgers, jacket potatoes and sandwiches, pannini's etc. These are all reasonably priced, cooked to order and the portions are huge. Excellent value for money.

We happened on this little restaurant by chance! Originally we were only going to have a coffee, sit outside and enjoy the sunshine! We looked at the menu out of curiosity and were pleasantly surprised by the choice and the very reasonable prices. We both had Paninis which came with a very tasty and well presented salad. It was gorgeous! The staff are all very nice and the inside is spotless. We will definitely be back. Thank you.

Poor hospitality and customer Service. Once entered the bistro, We Where about to grab some coffee. As there was a queue We decided to use the facilities instead of waiting. We Where asked to leave 2 minutes after entering and told to ask to use wc next time. THE LADY ENTERED TOILET IN THE MIDDLE OF USE. Well, after this unprofesional behaivior of one of the staff members 100% not coming back.

Very rude staff. Just wanted to buy a coffee and use the toilet. Staff member came to the toilets and was talking very rude, like we did something really horrible. So ending up buying can of coke and giving to staff as a gift. VERY POOR!

Ate here a few weeks ago for the first time. Had to wait a little but food hot and tasty on arrival. One portion of chips between two would suffice. Was very busy and a bit noisy with all the chatter but would return again.
