Opera Grill in Cheshire West and Chester

Opera is a charming restaurant that offers a wonderful dining experience. During my visit, I had the pleasure of being served by Oscar, who truly enhanced the evening. The restaurant's atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with elegant decor and soft lighting. The menu features a variety of dishes, blending traditional flavors with modern twists. Oscar's service was exceptional. He was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. His suggestions for wine pairings perfectly complemented the meal.

The service was outstanding! The whole team could not of done enough for us! The food was everything we heard about and more, it was a perfect anniversary dinner! Thank you, we will be back with family and friends ❤️

First visit to this restaurant. Beautiful decor and atmosphere. We dined in on a Sunday evening. The staff were lovely and attentive. Food was ok … cold plates lamb was a little fatty and as the plates were cold it didn’t help keeping the food warm

Fantastic experience start to finish, we arrived about 20 minutes early for our booking expecting to have to get a drink at the bar but our table was ready so we were seated immediately in the roof top area which is a lovely setting compared to the louder busier downstairs area. Our server Mark was simply excellent, attentive, and friendly at just the perfect amount, and not just with us, I noticed him with a few of the tables around us. We didn't have starters, just some bread, which was fresh, crusty loaf, perfect to start and the steak was unreal, perfectly cooked, tender, juicy, with a nice amount of chargrilled flavour truly melt in your mouth type stuff. When I ordered I didn't know which sauce to choose from the four options so I asked Mark for a little advice an after working out I like peppercorn he offered to bring all of them so I could decide which I preferred (Chimichurri was my favourite). We also had cocktails that were delicious too. An excellent visit overall can't wait to go back.

I have made the manager aware that I was going to review the Opera Bar and grill, and little effort was shown my offer to review, considering that it was my first time. The grill offers various options of good cuts of quality meat. I had a fillet steak cooked as I expected nothing mind-blowing, considering the price. All I have tasted was under my request. Overall, nothing exceptional, but it has a nice ambience. The price is not average, but using their IR loyalty card during the week, you can indulge in a reasonable meal and do not expect incredible value. I would like the opportunity to do a full review on request. I did not taste any wine and neither desserts.

Me and my Mrs went in on Monday night, 30 mins before last orders. Had a lovely Espresso Martini and glass of wine. We'd lost our dog Kiki 3 weeks ago and got upset after talking/reminiscing about her. 'Spike' behind the bar was super comforting and talked to us about how he'd lost his own dog Alfie not long ago and how horrible that was too. We were visibly upset and Spike was charming and caring. Went for Mother’s Day had dinner yesterday ordered roast dinner waited over an hour by the time our veg came we had eaten our roast which wasn’t worth having blob of carrots and red cabbage Ali ordered drinks and got our order wrong it was far too busy and certainly don’t cater for high chairs the amount of time my daughter’s high chair got knocked in the end we taken her out of it every time she would cry and never eaten her dinner Overall won’t be visiting again a lot nicer restaurants in chester

Went here for a couple of drinks on a Saturday day, but didn't end up staying due to the how rude the hostess at the front desk was. She didn't acknowledge us entering and completely ignored us as we stood waiting to be served. We didn't feel welcome and so left. It looks like an impressive place inside, but with such poor customer service, we weren't interested in staying and won't be going back.

Louisa was amazing, she was very attentive and always checking in on us! She recommended the beef Sunday dinner. We will definitely be back. Thank you again xx

The steaks were not cooked as we order them

Part of a 50 people party, obviously booked and ordered in advance. Everything was correct to table and as ordered. My dish was exactly as ordered, one other said their steak was one grade more cooked than they'd like, mine was fine. Good selection of beer, wine and spirits. Atmosphere and hygiene spot on.

Booked at last minute and couldn’t have been happier !!! The place is very chic and classy,the service was second to none and the food was divine !!! I have absolutely no problem in recommending this establishment and will definitely be visiting again.

It's a typical stake house and nothing else. Some of the benches need changing after so many years in use.

Waiter CHRISTIAN Visited the opera grill for Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend and I can’t fault the place at all it was unreal. What made the night even more was the top service from Christian who made us feel welcome and took the nervous edge off such a big night. This lad deserves a pay rise! Will defiantly be visiting again soon!

Me and my partner both agreed that this place served us the best steaks we have ever tasted. Good portion sizes, excellent service and great atmosphere.

We opted for the mixed Asian starter. It was £35 for a couple, all the food was covered in barter and deep fried, very poor. We opted for steak tatar, I received at best 3 teaspoons of steak. The rest was onions and whatever else they added. If you're a foody, don't come here! The staff were excellent, though. We dined here around 6 months ago and couldn't fault it, maybe that it's bevommore poplar they have lowered the standards

Went here with friends on a Saturday evening. Very classy, lovely cocktails, nice clientele, great atmosphere and super clean toilets.

We opted for an early dinner before a 1910 cinema. The only downside was they had run out of venison - apart from that, it was fabulous - their usual super standard!

Outstanding food, just a shame about the ambience, I could hardly hear the waitress ask us what we wanted, and had to shout to my husband all night because I felt like I was in the middle of a rave, it’s not really the right kind of music when your having such a lovely meal, really really was a shame but I don’t suppose anything will be done about it, I did go on Saturday

We were very lucky to go when there was an offer of 50% off the menu. We enjoyed our lunch very much. Food was magnificent and service was super.

Second visit here on a works occasion. Both times the food has been outstanding. Nearly all staff “the American from Texas for example” are really nice, approachable and helpful, however 1 individual (old miserable male in a blue suit) was incredibly rude, dismissive and was pulling faces when asked questions. Other than this sad pouting individual that ruined our night we had a pleasant time and if not for the encounter with miserable, rude old man in the blue suit the review would be 5 star.

Been before and had really good food, so I thought we would go on my birthday, Turned out to be a disaster, ordered fillet, when it arrived it looked like it had been chargrilled, first couple of bites bit chewy,got to the middle and it was raw, they did offer to change it, but I was not prepared to wait then eat on my own, as my wife would have finished her meal. Had to speak with the manager, who did eventually knock the steak off the bill. Has put us off going again, but I have to say the waitress on the night was brilliant and sympathetic to our disappointment and turned up with a dessert.

Gorgeous venue, friendly and helpful staff - we both had rib eye steak which was cooked perfectly to our liking.

Food was OK but the waiter saving was very slow and staff heating food at the bar and management eating food at he's computer 🖥 staff should have a place to tea not sat at the bar or at he's computer table.

We booked in advance to celebrate our engagement. We arrived and were asked to sit at the bar whilst they got our table ready. It went past our allocated time so I went up to ask. The couple in front of us had not booked but were taken straight away to a nice table and told they could have it for 2 hours. Once we were finally taken upstairs we were put on a tiny table cramped between two booths. It was so small I couldn’t even raise my arms to eat. We politely asked to move to which the gentlemen we asked replied very rudely that we could but “you need to leave after an hour”. We were about to get up and leave when a different gentlemen offered to move us to a better table. We weren’t given a drinks menu. The drinks we did order, two of them never came. I ordered venison pink and it came out well done. Still don’t understand why a walk in was taken straight to a nice table whilst we were left waiting and then given the worst table in the restaurant. Wont be coming back

Didn't eat this time, but always a great bar for socialising and cocktails. Friendly staff, nice atmosphere. Not a cheap venue but certainly not the most expensive in Chester for drinks either. NYE 2023 Still a lovely bar, all not the cheapest venue but they do make great cocktails and there is always a nice atmosphere.

I went to the opera grill in Chester as a surprise 60th birthday gift from my family on Christmas Eve. Myself and my partner ordered the sirloin steak. When we cut into it, it was under cooked for our liking however we ate a few pieces each before realizing it was atually raw! We highlighted our concerns and it was returned to the kitchen to be redone, however in our view it still was not cooked to our specification. We both ate the steak as we didn’t want to make any more fuss. Some 3 hours later my partner and I had a severe bout of stomach cramps and diarrhea which lasted throughout the night and ruined our Christmas Day plans. I made contact via their enquirer form early evening on Christmas Day and agin on 27th December and to date I have not had any or reponse from the management team. May I add that I had concerns about how the waiters/ waitresses were using the same cloth to wipe the edges of plates as they were being handed to them from the kitchen serving hatch. I also had concerns of how close the toilets were to the kitchen serving hatch. This area of the restaurant was busy with fellow guests, food being served and an area where food was being disposed of. The entertainment was outstanding.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable evening on Thursday 21st Dec, with great food and drink and exceptional service with Louisa looking after our table. The atmosphere was equally good with a great vibe. Overall we couldn’t fault and would recommend.

Only the price of drinks are excessive

Disappointed. Not as good as it used to be. No chips?! Really? Paid £5 for cauliflower cheese, which was about 20p worth of cauliflower, with a bit of white water - not a cheese sauce. Overpriced but if it's not amazing with great service, then sorry, but no!!

We had Christmas work lunch for £43 each - expensive for what we got. The French onion soup starter was nice. However, I was very disappointed with my traditional Christmas dinner - the turkey meat was reconstituted and the sausages (pigs in blankets) came white with very little taste of meat, probably full of soya. Far too few vegetables were given to go with it the main course when shared around 10 of us. No drink was included with the meal but plain water - we had to pay for drinks at the bar. Before sitting, I had requested the plain water to drink with the meal and was assured we would get it, but it never came. I got up to ask for it a second time after the main course and then finally it came with the dessert. The Christmas pudding was the best part of the meal. I expected much better for the price of £43 each, so clearly we got ripped off. I will not be going again.

Booked this place yesterday for my husband’s birthday and was really disappointed with the food. The service could have been better but we just accepted it was a busy evening. But what has really been frustrating is early hours my husband was sick and has now got food poisoning. We believe the ribs which I didn’t eat was not cooked properly. Only star I can give to this restaurant is the music and vibe. That’s about it. The service and food needs improvement. Not a happy customer!

Had a works Christmas do here, the place was busy Friday evening. We waited to be seated, upstairs down stairs the bar was heaving every table was full. When we went upstairs they put on very large table next to the stage, the band was great got up cheering, singing, and dancing. The Sazzaphone player was good add on to the band to. The food was great the service was just bit to long but considering how busy it was understandable.

Was recommended to us by our hotel, although looking at it online it wouldn't have been my first choice. As it was Saturday in December we expected it to be busy. Very disappointed overall. Waited over 20 minutes for a reserved table. Drinks very expensive atmosphere way to chaotic to enjoy, I realise this is personal preference. Food average, once eventually seated had to ask for our water more than twice. One of the waiters spilt drink down my back and I should have mentioned this but in the chaos the moment passed. We saw other diners leave without ordering and others send whole plates of food back. We did complain about our wait and were offered lemoncellos at the end of our meal but would have preferred complimentary drinks during our wait.Not something I usually do but I did ask them to remove the service charge. Overall to big and the whole place thinks it is better than it is. Sadly we will not return.

If you enjoy an evening with loud music, every other person wearing stone island and a puzzling wait for toilet cubicles it’s the place for you. The food was this place saving grace which was adequate. It’s not a place o will be frequenting again.

Looked very upmarket online, food OK but limited set menu, scallops starter overcooked and over sauced, main course turkey run of the mill and vegetables lukecwarm, pannacotta lacked flavour and atmosphere loud and rowdy and music too loud for conversation.
