One of the BEST meals I've ever had!

We visited the Bowling Green today for some food and drinks. The fish and chips were absolutely amazing! 10/10 as always. Amazing atmosphere and had a lovely drink in the beer garden 🍻 ☀️

Booked for our son's birthday to finish the day off. We rang to say we will be 5 minutes late, when we arrived the table wasn't even ready. Then the owner came over and very rudely said they won't be serving us Infront of the whole restaurant. Even the other people said they were gob smacked on how abrupt he was, absolutely no hoots given! Far to busy trying to serve 16 / 17 year olds with alcohol. We use to love it, but will be not return now until new owners unfortunately. The Mediterranean steak house in castle booked us in last minute and we're fantastic with us as we were let down. So worked out better in the end

Fantastic meal at The Bowling Green. The food was all very fresh, tasty and perfectly cooked. The gluten free options are great- rather than some restaurants who offer a " gluten free" option and just use a frozen low quality product, here I had some of the best gluten free bread I've had in years! We will definitely be back and recommend to others.

Service comprises of useless teenagers forgetting instantly order you give whilst the owner sits at the bar . Piss poor service which is a shame as the foods decent. Employ decent staff or dont bother at all

Wow, just finished a great meal at the Bowling Green. Felt authentic Italian, obviously freshly cooked and really delicious. My wife went for gluten free options and also really loved it. Reasonably priced as well as great portions. It’s 10 out of 10 from us!!

Was offered 12 noon or 1.45pm when booking on the telephone with Charlie. Chose 12 noon as expected it to be very busy (Easter Sunday). Arrived approx 11.50 but pub wasn’t open. Landlord opened doors and said staff hadn’t arrived yet. I would say we got seated with drinks by 12.15 and food arrived at 12.45 - so there was really no need to rush there for 12.00. The food itself was marvellous - the beef was tender and rare (pink) and a good sized portion. The Yorkshire puddings are enormous and defeated us! Veg were carrot and swede, peas and dark greens (little tough). Cauliflower cheese and leeks and a lovely jug of really good gravy. Two roasties and mash completed the meal perfectly. Excellent value at £14.95

Tim has orchestrated a Philharmonic performance. From the service to the plate this was an amazing experience. Excellent, food, service and taste. I'd recommend this place to anyone. Great value for such quality food. The photos really tasted as good as it looks. We'll be back in a few days for Tapas.

We reserved a table and when we got there the landlord was in the doorway smoking and threw the cigarette end on the path, so when we walked in the smell of smoke was awful. the table had not been reserved, the lamb was tough and one meal had to be reheated. No condiments on the table so had to ask for them. Felt uncomfortable and could not get out quick enough. to sum it up it was an awful experience and will certainly not go again or recommend it to anyone!

Hands down the nicest fish, chips and peas I've ever had in my life! The tapas is also amazing as is the roast dinner. We dine here regularly.

Visited the Bowling Green this afternoon for lunch with the family, the food was fantastic, staff attentive and even better its dog friendly! Special mention to Jack who was fantastic, they seemed short staffed but he did everything efficiently and with a smile on his face - huge credit to the pub. Will definitely be visiting again especially for the chips!

Lovely tapas menu and food excellent. Unfortunately the landlord was not attentive to his clientele. Too busy watching U tube or something. After asking politely to lower the volume on the background music,I heard him say to the waitress "cos they're old".I am not that old or deaf.The loud music was intrusive .We really enjoyed the food but will not be returning

What a hidden gem. Went out for a family celebration and had the best experience. The service from walking in the door was excellent. Friendly, helpful staff who really went above and beyond to make sure that everyone was happy and well catered for . The standard of the food was excellent and often with a large party there is always one complaint ! not on this occasion. The menu is varied with a Tapas option and a main menu . We had items of both menus and the quality of the food was excellent . It all arrived piping hot and the tastes of all the different foods were delicious and plentiful. I really cannot recommend this place enough. There is also plenty of well lit parking at the front and back of the pub and disabled access and toilets . When we find a hidden gem we often like to keep it a secret as you can then not get a seat . However, we know that’s selfish and this pub restaurant deserves sharing . Well done to the staff and owners !!

Had heard about the Sunday roasts here, so myself and 3 friends have been today. Just wow! Exceeded expectations. It was delicious, we all had a mix of lamb and beef. The meat was tender and the gravy, roasties and cauliflower cheese was delish as was the accompanied veg. Ate too quick to take a pic. Even booking the table was a pleasant experience, I think it was Kerry that took my booking. She was so helpful and friendly. Overall could not recommend enough. Be back real soon 😋😋

The food at this place is incredible - amazing Sunday Roast, with giant yorkshires, loads of meat and fresh vegetables.

We’ve been eating out for many years, (too many) this is the best Sunday lunch we’ve ever had! Hot, tasty and cooked to perfection, Yorkies are beyond belief! Have been here several times inc Xmas Eve 2023 and the food is sensational. Lovely atmosphere, always busy but not too busy, friendly staff with a relaxed and welcoming feel. A true gem!!

We were really disappointed with our experience. We had been looking forward to trying the Bowling Green for quite some time. We booked at table for 6.30. A lovely young man came and took our food and drinks order. The wait for the food was quite long, but that wasn't really the issue. We would have at least expected to get the drinks brought over. After a lengthy wait, we flagged down a different waitress and chased the drinks. The food was brought over, but still no drinks. The food itself was lovely, huge portions and clearly well made. I eventually went to the bar myself to order the drinks, and it was clear that had I not gone up, we wouldn't have got them. When we were finished, the table was cleared but were weren't offered desserts, which seemed unusual, so after a bit of a wait, we asked for the dessert menu, to be told that the kitchen shut at 7.45 (it was 8.35 at this point). We were somewhat shocked, not so bothered the kitchen closes, but more surprised that no one mentioned desserts to us sooner, knowing the kitchen closed. When we came to pay, we had been charged for 2 lots of drinks, despite the challenge of getting even one!! This was challenged and removed. The staff were friendly, but it seemed to me that they were young and inexperienced and definitely lacking the mentorship of a manager. It was a shame really because the food was good ( I can not comment on dessert), and the staff are actually friendly. Sadly, I wouldn't recommend it because good food alone didn't make up for a disappointing experience. We were there for over 2 hours, had one course, and one round of drinks.

Had a recommend so we booked for Sunday lunch . Great food, starters bruschetta , meat balls , dough balls all large portions and well presented . Mains of pizza , lasagne and Sunday roast beef . The beef was cooked pink 👍, biggest ever Yorkshire pud, roast and mash , side dishes cauliflower cheese, peas, carrots and cabbage , lots of gravy , what a plateful for under £15 . Service from the young team was excellent , nothing was any trouble . Deffo one of the best Sunday Roasts we have had , we will be back

The best Sunday lunch we've had in ages . Epic yorkshire puds , lots of fresh veg , followed by a huge crumble and custard. Great service very friendly and efficient .

After parking in the spacious rear car park, I entered the venue, and was warmly welcomed by a staff member, and enquired if food was being served. I was presented with a very extensive menu, and made my choices, plus a blackcurrant cordial drink. The food was tasty and well-presented. There was a slight delay before my dessert was served, which was also very good. Overall I enjoyed the dining experience, and am planning to return and try some of the Italian Tapas items.

Excellent Tapas meal with daughter and partner who were making a first time visit. Very polite serving and booking staff. What more could anyone want. We can all really recommend. The best we’ve had.

We've been to the Bowling Green since it reopened with the new landlord, Tim. We've had at least a dozen meals here and all have been 10/10 and very generous portions. Best foody pub in Northwich by far. Highly recommend but i suggest you book first. Hats off to the chef there

They managed to accommodate a table of 15. The food was really good and served well. 2 minor downs with the service. Firstly, they didn't come to the table to take drinks orders. You had to either try and attract someone's attention or go to the bar during the meal, which isn't ideal. Secondly, we split the bill. Ours was correct, but the other was overcharged by one meal, and when they tried to rectify this, they were told to come back another time to sort it, again not great. Overall, it was a good experience and food, and we will probably visit again.

A beautiful pub! Traditional, cosy, and very welcoming. The staff were attentive and friendly. We had the Italian tapas menu, all the food was fresh and tasty and the portions are more generous than you'd expect with tapas. Really enjoyed our meal here.

The 1st time eating here, and it won't be the last. If you love uncomplicated Italian food with a Tapas twist, then the Bowling Green is for you. Tim, the landlord, is a very friendly landlord who knows what his customers want and supplies it with great enthusiasm and passion. There is a traditional menu also, but who doesn't like Italian. Great food, wine, and service with a welcoming host, I will be returning with friends and family 5*
