Popped in opera Saturday for dinner with few mates to celebrate a reunion, and I was really impressed with the flavours, and the warm treatment we had. And specially the rounds of shots that they offered us

Our party of 10 arrived on time. The restaurant was not particularly busy but it was 29 December 24. Three guests ordered the set Sunday menu which was reasonable however everyone else including myself order from the main menu. My plate arrived and it can only be described as boiled cod and rice floating in starch water. The other dishes served were underwhelming. We waited and waited for the plates to be cleared. Finally we had to tell the staff to remove them and give us the bill. We left without a dessert. The bill was approx £500 for one course. Very little alcohol was ordered because we don’t indulge but we do like a pudding 🍮 None of us were poisoned if that’s a positive.

Good evening, thank you for a lovely evening on boxing night, booking was under Steph , was originally for 7.30pm, Mark I spoke with was very friendly and accommodating to move the reservation forward, the greeting on the way in from the male was very attentive from opening the door , host at the reception was warm and welcoming and friendly. Annie our waitress was very friendly and efficient and checked in with us . Thank you Annie. Chefs food was excellent, Cote de be ouf And starters , desserts ,bar was great service, coffee liqueur . The DJ was great too. Good on you’re team after one day holiday Best wishes 2025

Poor! Had to wait over an hour and a half to get food. When it turned up the food was bland, over cooked, not worth the price tag!

Food excellent, atmosphere for Sunday gospel class, waitress lovely. Couldn't give it 5 stars unfortunately because the PR/marketing team obviously doesn't communicate any promotions to the actual on floor staff, our table (been reserved 3 months prior) was given to another booking and the two ladies down stairs forgot to mention our table was ready or that the restaurant was open for seating. Properly piss poor. But everything else was excellent, however I'd say over priced of course

Arrived on time for our reservation, offered the worst table in the house or a drink at the bar while they sort out a better table. Quelle suprise the empty booth we spotted from the bar was now ours once we'd spent £25. Food was OK, sort of fusiony but enjoyable, some interesting wines but rather pricey, good interaction with senior staff, £200+ for a mid week 2 courses .mmmm I wouldn't race back.

Food was very good service was brilliant well worth a visit.

Had a work's Christmas do upstairs. Food was nice with prompt service. We had after dinner entertainment which everyone thoroughly enjoyed. Could've done with more bar staff at times. All in all a great venue for corporate events.

We had our Christmas work night out here last night and it didn't disappoint. Food & atmosphere were great. We were served & looked after by Annie and her service was attentive without being intrusive, well done to her. Personally it's my first visit but I will definitely be back.

This place is a disappointment.from the outside looks stunning however inside the staff were rude and pretentious and also felt judge no sooner I went in wasn’t very welcoming the hostess said in a very rude manner she couldn’t see our booking and then it was there was the given a card to sit at the bar till our table was ready went past our time slot so we had to go over and ask if our table was ready poor organisation was then seated upstairs then waited 20 minuntes for a staff member to come over with also 4 different staff members acknowledging the table but just ignored us and ask us for drinks and then ordered food , the staff member asked us if it was some special occasion sounded very patronising the only seemed to attend to people with money ,started arrived mine was cold in the middle then my main was just a disappointment the bread was the nicest part we then finished our meals which took them another 20 minutes to clear our table yet again staff members looking over .we then waited 30mintues for someone to come give us our bill by this point put our Coats on to see if anyone would notice us my partner ended up going up and paying at the bar, as the saying goes they judge a book by its cover hospitality appalling rude and arrogant would also like to add when complained about the over cooked steak I saw the man what looked like he was a boss rolling his eyes yet again rude .i have eaten at many high end restaurants at this is just not one of them would definitely not recommend

Our starters were okay, however mains were shockingly poor. The tuna steak was nothing more than tinned tuna, the chips were not ‘triple cooked’ as described but oven chips and my steak was charcoaled which was not edible. We tried to get the waiters attention for over 15 minutes to report my concerns with the food however were ignored, when they attended they offered to replace my steak with a fresh one however at this point the remainder of my food was cold and my friends had finished theirs. We were initially planning to have dessert however decided against this following the poor food quality. We asked for the bill which was brought promptly however after 15 minutes of waiting to pay the waiter had not returned. We then needed to attend the bar and ask to pay, where again we raised concerns about the poor service. We were rudely told ‘it’s because it’s Christmas’. I appreciate this is a busy time of year however if this is the case more staff is needed or don’t allow so many tables to be booked. I am extremely disappointed with my experience and felt this was not managed well by the waiters. I would not recommend.

Been coming here occasionally for 10yrs The dinning experience is completely different upstairs to downstairs, feels more exclusive, If I wanted to listen to club dance music then I’d go to a club or a bar, The quality of the food isn’t what it once was You get the feeling it’s more a place to go for the aesthetics than the food, beautiful looking building looks like a classy establishment but if you want to go somewhere for food then I’d suggest somewhere else, The chefs probably straight out of culinary school or maximum 2/3yrs experience if that’s what they’re serving, The main was cold so sent it back and opted for fish & chips, I’ve had better in an actual chip shop Due to the fact that’s their game. If you want a drink with nice surroundings and decent uptempo music then go here, If you want food that warrants the price you pay then go elsewhere Sorry 🤷🏻‍♂️

Such an amazing couple of evenings at Opera last weekend. The food was incredible, as are the staff. Their knowledge of wine pairings to food is second to none and they make some pretty amazing cocktails too! Hats off to all staff for providing such a fabulous experience for me and my mum. Special shout out to Spike - a true expert and gent! Thank you!

We stayed over the road from here (at The Leonardo Hotel , which is excellent btw) so thought this was the ideal place to eat. The outside look is amazing and interior is well designed. The staff were fairly friendly but I got the distinct impression that they were doing us a great service by letting us eat there! My GF ordered duck breast with cauliflower cheese but was told that they had run out of cauliflower cheese ??? So she ordered carrots (£5.50) , I ordered fillet steak (but got sirloin) and triple cooked chips (that I honestly thought they were McCains oven chips!). We ordered a run of the mill Chilean sauvignon blanc . The price for this meal was £120 (and this was AFTER the 15% discount for eating there on Mondays and Tuesdays. EXTREMELY OVERPRICED for a poorly cooked, poorly served dinner.

Visited over the weekend for an early Christmas party, this is the last time I’ll ever book this restaurant. Visited in the past so was aware that the food can be hit and miss here but nonetheless this was the venue we chose. The food was appalling. For a group of around 20 people most of it went back to the kitchen untouched. I sympathise that it must be difficult with this number of people on one table however for a restaurant of this calibre it’s shocking how awful the food was. Steaks over-cooked, under-cooked. Chicken skewers also sent back untouched. They were pink and many people thought they were undercooked. It does not state on the menu they are chicken thigh which would explain the pinkness to an extent but this wasn’t explained to us until we sent them back. Food sent back for being cold. Desserts not touched as they came out 2.5 hours after our booking time at 10:15pm and everyone was fed up and wanted to leave. It’s also worth noting that the band in the gallery is far too loud. Loud enough to give you a migraine. Although they were fantastic, it would be better to tone it down a notch. The man who seemed to be the manager on shift, or potentially the head waiter couldn’t have been more helpful or understanding with our complaints and I honestly felt really sorry for him. Clearly too much pressure on the kitchen. Chefs unable to deliver and then to finish it off FOH staff dealing with a number of complaints. Bar staff were borderline rude. Waits at the bar stupidly long, which was avoidable had they not been chatting away rather than serving customers. Pints were stale and tasted like the lines needed a good clean. Coca-cola served in bottles also tasted off. Definitely not full fat regular coke as the bar man said. A waste of time and a waste of money, I would honestly deter people from visiting here in future. So many wonderful options to dine with in Chester and this is not one of them. Completely embarrassing experience. Hopefully these matters will be improved

We had the Nikkei sharing platter, and it was sensational. Looked after by Clarke who was fabulous. It will be our go to place whenever in Chester.

Went last night for a meal for my partners 50th birthday. Last minute booking so we were in the area near the bar. Food was absolutely amazing. Could not fault it. We were served by Lois who was new and a little nervous but was super attentive, helpful and friendly. Only downside was the DJ that was on was very loud so it was sometimes hard to hear the staff and each other when talking. The music didn’t really create the atmosphere you’d expect to match the quality of the food.

Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, and Luke was fantastic. Service was great and we had the best time. We will definitely go back there!

We came here as a party of 6,we were seated close to the kitchen which was a little unlucky,but the staff were nice and efficient and the food was good, some things on the menu are at the high end, but there’s plenty of options for more reasonably priced food.All in all a great night and would definitely eat here again.

Fantastic ambiance, attentive staff and absolutely delicious steak. 2 glasses of fizz on arrival as it was our anniversary which was a nice touch. I ordered petits fours for my desert hoping for a selection of mini treats that would be beautifully presented like the rest of our meal. Instead, I got 5 cocoa dusted truffles (nice enough) just shoved into a bowl! Bit of an underwhelming finish to an otherwise brilliant experience.

Dined at Opera Bar & Grill last night. Amazing experience from start to finish. The decor in the restaurant is fantastic. The service and quality was outstanding. So much choice in the menus for food and drink. Had some lovely cocktails and a very nice bottle of Italian red. The ribeye steak that I had was probably one of the best I've eaten in recent memory, as was my fiancé's lamb. The summer dessert sharing dish was also a great touch if you can't decide what you want. Overall though, the service is what makes this restaurant visit so memorable. From the bar staff, manager, to the waitress. All were fantastic. Thanks for a great evening out. Will definitely return next time we visit Chester.

We had the sharing Asian starter and the sharing steak experience both were incredible. Our waiter was excellent at his job, very knowledgeable about the menu and the wine he recommended was perfect. Mario, thank you making our time at this restaurant amazing. Highly recommended

It was a really good time if you're in the area, staff was polite and helpful, the prices were ok and the food was delicious. No parking nearby as far as i could tell.

60th birthday treat from my children - absolutely lovely. Very good choice of food...I had the burger which was very tasty, my son polishing off the half I couldn't eat! My husband had the chicken skewer which he said was excellent. My daughters had chicken caeser salad and my other daughter also had the burger. My son also had the squid starter. Service excellent, food excellent - thoroughly enjoyed my experience, topped off by a complimentary little birthday cake, candle and all. Would highly recommend.

What a lovely evening we had. We are getting married a year today so decided to go for a special meal and have always wanted to try here. We were made to feel so welcome and can't wait to come back on our anniversaries. Best steak I have ever had. Lovely cocktails and service was amazing. Our waitress was Annie. Me and my family had a lovely night at the gospel!! Georgina was amazing, so attentive and looked after us all night. From the minute we arrived we felt really comfortable and we were made to feel special. Georgina was so lovely and made sure we had everything we needed the whole way through our time there. We would definitely come back due to how good her service was and how great the food was, a great all round experience!

Very disappointed, I had the lamb with champ potatoes! Which I thought was mash! But they was new potatoes, which was hard and not very hot and bland, didn't eat them.veg was peas and a corner of cabbage. Lamb was very fatty. Normally the food is lovely. Left most of it😪. My daughters meals was both nice. But mine was a waste of money.

Me and my Partner visited this evening (02/09/24) and had an above and beyond experience. Our lovely server was called Georgina and she just made the experience a 10/10. We never had to ask for Georgina to come over she was always on the ball. Georgina has a great first class service skill! Which a skill many servers lack. Our starters were absolutely delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed them. Our main meals were great too, however the halloumi burger could have done with more halloumi and the Angus burger had a hash brown which was burnt but other than those 2 minor issues, the food was delightful. I must have to add how lovely and smiley the receptionist was, she welcomed us with open arms and started our experience of the way it should be. I would definitely recommend going and hopefully you have the pleasure of being served by the lovely Georgina. Next time we are over in Chester we will definitely back :)

It's a really good restraunt. Unusual style. Staff, attentive without being overbearing. Food, very good indeed. Cost, appropriate to everything mentioned above. I will definitely be there again soon. They also have, on some days, live music. I quite fancy doing that. Well done, Opera Restaurant.

Mostly great. Would've appreciated notice on things like lobster not being available (at 7:30 they'd run out) as this is what we were coming for. Also for a birthday celebration I wasn't too happy with being dumped in the far corner seat. Very average waiting staff who put fairly minimal effort in. The bar staff were great, the food was really good but coming somewhere like this and for the money paid, I expect more.

Hallie our server on the day was professional and sweet including other staff who I do not have their names. Mark (I think) the manager on the day, was very supportive and made sure we were all happy. Such a beautiful terrace with gorgeous ambiance and vibes. Food was on point and best of all everyone was happy and having a great day. I would definately recommend this beautiful restaurant for its service, atmosphere, professionalism and attentiveness. This was our first visit here and we really enjoyed it. The food was amazing as were the cocktails. The service was first class from start to finish. Although the music was a little loud (I'm an older gentleman 😁) we'll definitely be visiting again when we visit Chester. Thank you for a wonderful evening ❤️

Lovely venue and good food…..the problem was the bill! It took 4 attempts before it was correct. Felt so sorry for the waitress as we had to say 3 times that’s it is not right. £130 of prepaid deposits not taken off and then £121 of prepaid Prosecco not taken off. Charged for 9 people and there were 8 of us. Voluntary service charge of £7+ per person. What a shame, puts me off dining as a large party. Really do think someone from management should have come over rather than the poor waitress being sent back with the bill 3 times.

Me and my partner came here for my birthday dinner and drinks. The food was beautiful, one of the best steaks we have ever had. We had the king prawns, and olives for starter, Chateaubriand for main. Our waiter Clark was brilliant, absolutely top service from him. Made our evening very enjoyable, he was very friendly and attentive to our needs. The ambiance was lovely, perfect for a date night. Came here last week and had a great time. It Was a busy Saturday night but never felt rushed to leave after we finished our food. Was left to enjoy the live musicians. The food was great and the waiting staff were fantastic. You could tell how hard they worked to make everyone feel comfortable.

We came to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary. It was monday evening so the restaurant was quite quiet, but the atmosphere was still good. Our waitress Jemima was really really good as was the food. The 2 glasses of fizz and a dessert on the house was a nice touch too. We came away well sated and happy. Well done Opera!! 👍👍

If you are a big eater then this place is for you. The starters were more like a main course and some. My partner had the ribs and honestly had no room left for his steak main course All of the food was cooked well good flavour

Great roast dinner beef was cooked to perfection.

We had a lovely meal last at the grill.The service was really excellent probably the best service I have had in a Resturant in a very long time, Puria ( and sorry if that not how it is spelt ) attended our table with a very pleasant manner. The bar man who made our cocktails 🍹 on arrival was also very friendly. Thank you making our evening so special.

We were a party of 6, when our friend booked we were upgraded to the music room. I am disabled and struggle with the stairs, so the first downfall was having to walk up lots of stairs to get to the music room. The group that was on was good. However, it was far too loud, whilist eating it was hard to hear people talking. When our food came myself and another member of the group found our food to be poor. I had paid an extra £5 for a fillet and ordered it. Medium. However, when it came, it was overcooked and chewy, so much so that I left it. The rest of the meal was luke warm. The other member of our group had sirloin and said it was very fatty. The other members, although enjoyed theirs, did say it was not very warm. When the waiter came to take the plates, he never asked if everything was OK with the food, although I was sending back a full plate of food. Very poor food, overpriced for what it is. Sadly, I would not recommend it.

Excellent experience during our weekend visit to Chester. The staff were lovely, the place is beautiful with a great vibe. Food was good. Enjoyed it so much went back again the day after. Would recommend for sure.

We had a brilliant night here during a stay in Chester. Had a lovely booth upstairs where they had an excellent band. We ended up staying for the whole evening as we were enjoying ourselves that much. Few hen parties in but that added to the atmosphere. Service and food were both good and an excellent choice of cocktails.

Awesome atmosphere. Elegant and classy decor and ambiance. It's quite big and spacious, so has a fair number of tables. Yet it is not overcrowded. The service is organised, and the staff is warm, friendly, and efficient. There was a very good DJ and then a thorughly talented R&B band that performed. It was such a lovely atmosphere. Great menu. The food was delicious and of high quality. A little pricey, but good value for the overall experience. I would definitely dine there again when next I'm in Chester. I highly recommend.

Had a 2 course set lunch on Friday, service and food were excellent, the waitress Halle was very attentive and made our visit enjoyable.

We was welcomed and asked if we would like to sit in the terraced area. It was perfect. Set menu good value at lunchtime. Good selection of wine.

Really nice night here. Music was good, food was nice too. Only reason it’s not 5* is because steak was a touch overcooked for rare and the toilets are up like 5 flights of stairs!!! Otherwise, had a great night :)

Great atmosphere with the wife for a meal for two booked online a little issue with the booking however rectified by the front of house staff who booked us in and started the evening with a drink at the bar beer and cocktail lovely. We did have to wait a while to get seared. Then order meals which was lovely. I had the salmon my wife had the duck salad delicious.

dark , overrated, roast duck 2 legs cooked ok ,because the lights were poor couldn't see the bones nearly swallowed needle like bone, no veg or potatoes or fries ,no starter or sweet £40 odd really poor value , had £10 breakfast next morning, 10 times better Saturday 11 th of may 2024 ,Lloyd family

The food here is excellent. Esther, one of the staff members, is incredibly helpful and gives great recommendations. She's outstanding. This restaurant is truly impressive.

We had a lovely dinner here for my Grandma’s birthday!! Christian our server was amazing and even have a picture with my grandma!! The fillet steak was AMAZING and mouth watering. Although it was quite loud but the band on was amazing too!!

Travelled from Manchester to visit this restaurant and it did not disappoint. The food was fantastic! The customer service was another level. I can honestly say I have not experienced a dining experience like this for a while. Highly recommend.

Normally we absolutely love Opera Bar and Grill, but last time they seemed understaffed and we saw our original waitress 1 time, and next time we saw an actual waiter was when we asked for the bill. There was a group of 10 on the table near us and they had a waiter almost constantly, but as we were just a couple we seemed ignored. The Chilli Broccoli Stems were so salty they were inedible (manager said others had said same so taken off menu for the evening) Then when we asked to take the service charge off the waiter that brought the bill seemed put out by this request, despite us actually having no service. The major plus side was that the Steaks are always phenomenal, albeit not the steaks we actually wanted as both our first choice steaks had sold out (on a Sunday Night, when the restaurant, bar a few people (Group of ten and a few other couples) was completely quiet.

Our first time in Chester so took a gamble it was amazing, staff really nice and friendly, the steaks cooked perfect and well presented live music was great gospel singer's 80s and 90s songs skilled musicians and singer's lively atmosphere. Good Times to remember .

Opera is a charming restaurant that offers a wonderful dining experience. During my visit, I had the pleasure of being served by Oscar, who truly enhanced the evening. The restaurant's atmosphere is cozy and inviting, with elegant decor and soft lighting. The menu features a variety of dishes, blending traditional flavors with modern twists. Oscar's service was exceptional. He was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. His suggestions for wine pairings perfectly complemented the meal.

The service was outstanding! The whole team could not of done enough for us! The food was everything we heard about and more, it was a perfect anniversary dinner! Thank you, we will be back with family and friends ❤️
