60th birthday treat from my children - absolutely lovely. Very good choice of food...I had the burger which was very tasty, my son polishing off the half I couldn't eat! My husband had the chicken skewer which he said was excellent. My daughters had chicken caeser salad and my other daughter also had the burger. My son also had the squid starter. Service excellent, food excellent - thoroughly enjoyed my experience, topped off by a complimentary little birthday cake, candle and all. Would highly recommend.

What a lovely evening we had. We are getting married a year today so decided to go for a special meal and have always wanted to try here. We were made to feel so welcome and can't wait to come back on our anniversaries. Best steak I have ever had. Lovely cocktails and service was amazing. Our waitress was Annie. She was so attentive, friendly and an asset to your team. We have had a lovely evening celebrating. Thank you Annie.

Me and my family had a lovely night at the gospel!! Georgina was amazing, so attentive and looked after us all night. From the minute we arrived we felt really comfortable and we were made to feel special. Georgina was so lovely and made sure we had everything we needed the whole way through our time there. We would definitely come back due to how good her service was and how great the food was, a great all round experience!

Very disappointed, I had the lamb with champ potatoes! Which I thought was mash! But they was new potatoes, which was hard and not very hot and bland, didn't eat them.veg was peas and a corner of cabbage. Lamb was very fatty. Normally the food is lovely. Left most of it😪. My daughters meals was both nice. But mine was a waste of money.

Me and my Partner visited this evening (02/09/24) and had an above and beyond experience. Our lovely server was called Georgina and she just made the experience a 10/10. We never had to ask for Georgina to come over she was always on the ball. Georgina has a great first class service skill! Which a skill many servers lack. Our starters were absolutely delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed them. Our main meals were great too, however the halloumi burger could have done with more halloumi and the Angus burger had a hash brown which was burnt but other than those 2 minor issues, the food was delightful. I must have to add how lovely and smiley the receptionist was, she welcomed us with open arms and started our experience of the way it should be. I would definitely recommend going and hopefully you have the pleasure of being served by the lovely Georgina. Next time we are over in Chester we will definitely back :)

It's a really good restraunt. Unusual style. Staff, attentive without being overbearing. Food, very good indeed. Cost, appropriate to everything mentioned above. I will definitely be there again soon. They also have, on some days, live music. I quite fancy doing that. Well done, Opera Restaurant.

Mostly great. Would've appreciated notice on things like lobster not being available (at 7:30 they'd run out) as this is what we were coming for. Also for a birthday celebration I wasn't too happy with being dumped in the far corner seat. Very average waiting staff who put fairly minimal effort in. The bar staff were great, the food was really good but coming somewhere like this and for the money paid, I expect more.

Thank you to everyone who made my 40th birthday event so perfect. Mason - the events manager was amazing with his organization and support and so kind and helpful. Hallie our server on the day was professional and sweet including other staff who I do not have their names. Mark (I think) the manager on the day, was very supportive and made sure we were all happy. Such a beautiful terrace with gorgeous ambiance and vibes. Food was on point and best of all everyone was happy and having a great day. I would definately recommend this beautiful restaurant for its service, atmosphere, professionalism and attentiveness. Me and my partner came here for my birthday dinner and drinks. The food was beautiful, one of the best steaks we have ever had. We had the king prawns, and olives for starter, Chateaubriand for main. Our waiter Clark was brilliant, absolutely top service from him. Made our evening very enjoyable, he was very friendly and attentive to our needs. The ambiance was lovely, perfect for a date night. Lovely venue and good food…..the problem was the bill! It took 4 attempts before it was correct. Felt so sorry for the waitress as we had to say 3 times that’s it is not right. £130 of prepaid deposits not taken off and then £121 of prepaid Prosecco not taken off. Charged for 9 people and there were 8 of us. Voluntary service charge of £7+ per person. What a shame, puts me off dining as a large party. Really do think someone from management should have come over rather than the poor waitress being sent back with the bill 3 times.

Came here last week and had a great time. It Was a busy Saturday night but never felt rushed to leave after we finished our food. Was left to enjoy the live musicians. The food was great and the waiting staff were fantastic. You could tell how hard they worked to make everyone feel comfortable.

We came to celebrate our 16th wedding anniversary. It was monday evening so the restaurant was quite quiet, but the atmosphere was still good. Our waitress Jemima was really really good as was the food. The 2 glasses of fizz and a dessert on the house was a nice touch too. We came away well sated and happy. Well done Opera!! 👍👍

If you are a big eater then this place is for you. The starters were more like a main course and some. My partner had the ribs and honestly had no room left for his steak main course All of the food was cooked well good flavour

Great roast dinner beef was cooked to perfection.

We had a lovely meal last at the grill.The service was really excellent probably the best service I have had in a Resturant in a very long time, Puria ( and sorry if that not how it is spelt ) attended our table with a very pleasant manner. The bar man who made our cocktails 🍹 on arrival was also very friendly. Thank you making our evening so special.

We were a party of 6, when our friend booked we were upgraded to the music room. I am disabled and struggle with the stairs, so the first downfall was having to walk up lots of stairs to get to the music room. The group that was on was good. However, it was far too loud, whilist eating it was hard to hear people talking. When our food came myself and another member of the group found our food to be poor. I had paid an extra £5 for a fillet and ordered it. Medium. However, when it came, it was overcooked and chewy, so much so that I left it. The rest of the meal was luke warm. The other member of our group had sirloin and said it was very fatty. The other members, although enjoyed theirs, did say it was not very warm. When the waiter came to take the plates, he never asked if everything was OK with the food, although I was sending back a full plate of food. Very poor food, overpriced for what it is. Sadly, I would not recommend it.

Excellent experience during our weekend visit to Chester. The staff were lovely, the place is beautiful with a great vibe. Food was good. Enjoyed it so much went back again the day after. Would recommend for sure.

We had a brilliant night here during a stay in Chester. Had a lovely booth upstairs where they had an excellent band. We ended up staying for the whole evening as we were enjoying ourselves that much. Few hen parties in but that added to the atmosphere. Service and food were both good and an excellent choice of cocktails.

Awesome atmosphere. Elegant and classy decor and ambiance. It's quite big and spacious, so has a fair number of tables. Yet it is not overcrowded. The service is organised, and the staff is warm, friendly, and efficient. There was a very good DJ and then a thorughly talented R&B band that performed. It was such a lovely atmosphere. Great menu. The food was delicious and of high quality. A little pricey, but good value for the overall experience. I would definitely dine there again when next I'm in Chester. I highly recommend.

Superb establishment. Luckily we booked a table for when it wasn't too busy and we were treated like royalty. The steaks were unbelievable, however what really made the evening special were the two ladies that looked after us. Ella and Emily are a credit to your restaurant

Had a 2 course set lunch on Friday, service and food were excellent, the waitress Halle was very attentive and made our visit enjoyable.

Really nice night here. Music was good, food was nice too. Only reason it’s not 5* is because steak was a touch overcooked for rare and the toilets are up like 5 flights of stairs!!! Otherwise, had a great night :)

Great atmosphere with the wife for a meal for two booked online a little issue with the booking however rectified by the front of house staff who booked us in and started the evening with a drink at the bar beer and cocktail lovely. We did have to wait a while to get seared. Then order meals which was lovely. I had the salmon my wife had the duck salad delicious.

We had a lovely dinner here for my Grandma’s birthday!! Christian our server was amazing and even have a picture with my grandma!! The fillet steak was AMAZING and mouth watering. Although it was quite loud but the band on was amazing too!!

Travelled from Manchester to visit this restaurant and it did not disappoint. The food was fantastic! The customer service was another level. I can honestly say I have not experienced a dining experience like this for a while. Highly recommend.

Normally we absolutely love Opera Bar and Grill, but last time they seemed understaffed and we saw our original waitress 1 time, and next time we saw an actual waiter was when we asked for the bill. There was a group of 10 on the table near us and they had a waiter almost constantly, but as we were just a couple we seemed ignored. The Chilli Broccoli Stems were so salty they were inedible (manager said others had said same so taken off menu for the evening) Then when we asked to take the service charge off the waiter that brought the bill seemed put out by this request, despite us actually having no service. The major plus side was that the Steaks are always phenomenal, albeit not the steaks we actually wanted as both our first choice steaks had sold out (on a Sunday Night, when the restaurant, bar a few people (Group of ten and a few other couples) was completely quiet.

Our first time in Chester so took a gamble it was amazing, staff really nice and friendly, the steaks cooked perfect and well presented live music was great gospel singer's 80s and 90s songs skilled musicians and singer's lively atmosphere. Good Times to remember .

First visit to this restaurant. Beautiful decor and atmosphere. We dined in on a Sunday evening. The staff were lovely and attentive. Food was ok … cold plates lamb was a little fatty and as the plates were cold it didn’t help keeping the food warm

Fantastic experience start to finish, we arrived about 20 minutes early for our booking expecting to have to get a drink at the bar but our table was ready so we were seated immediately in the roof top area which is a lovely setting compared to the louder busier downstairs area. Our server Mark was simply excellent, attentive, and friendly at just the perfect amount, and not just with us, I noticed him with a few of the tables around us. We didn't have starters, just some bread, which was fresh, crusty loaf, perfect to start and the steak was unreal, perfectly cooked, tender, juicy, with a nice amount of chargrilled flavour truly melt in your mouth type stuff. When I ordered I didn't know which sauce to choose from the four options so I asked Mark for a little advice an after working out I like peppercorn he offered to bring all of them so I could decide which I preferred (Chimichurri was my favourite). We also had cocktails that were delicious too. An excellent visit overall can't wait to go back.

I have made the manager aware that I was going to review the Opera Bar and grill, and little effort was shown my offer to review, considering that it was my first time. The grill offers various options of good cuts of quality meat. I had a fillet steak cooked as I expected nothing mind-blowing, considering the price. All I have tasted was under my request. Overall, nothing exceptional, but it has a nice ambience. The price is not average, but using their IR loyalty card during the week, you can indulge in a reasonable meal and do not expect incredible value. I would like the opportunity to do a full review on request. I did not taste any wine and neither desserts.

Me and my Mrs went in on Monday night, 30 mins before last orders. Had a lovely Espresso Martini and glass of wine. We'd lost our dog Kiki 3 weeks ago and got upset after talking/reminiscing about her. 'Spike' behind the bar was super comforting and talked to us about how he'd lost his own dog Alfie not long ago and how horrible that was too. We were visibly upset and Spike was charming and caring. Amazing service from a really nice guy. Thank you! (P.S. we've been here for food and gospel choir in the past too and it's superb) Thank you for having such a lovely venue and amazing bar team! Thank you Spike for being caring in our time of need! ❤️

Went for Mother’s Day had dinner yesterday ordered roast dinner waited over an hour by the time our veg came we had eaten our roast which wasn’t worth having blob of carrots and red cabbage Ali ordered drinks and got our order wrong it was far too busy and certainly don’t cater for high chairs the amount of time my daughter’s high chair got knocked in the end we taken her out of it every time she would cry and never eaten her dinner Overall won’t be visiting again a lot nicer restaurants in chester

Went here for a couple of drinks on a Saturday day, but didn't end up staying due to the how rude the hostess at the front desk was. She didn't acknowledge us entering and completely ignored us as we stood waiting to be served. We didn't feel welcome and so left. It looks like an impressive place inside, but with such poor customer service, we weren't interested in staying and won't be going back.

Louisa was amazing, she was very attentive and always checking in on us! She recommended the beef Sunday dinner. We will definitely be back. Thank you again xx

Part of a 50 people party, obviously booked and ordered in advance. Everything was correct to table and as ordered. My dish was exactly as ordered, one other said their steak was one grade more cooked than they'd like, mine was fine. Good selection of beer, wine and spirits. Atmosphere and hygiene spot on.

It's a typical stake house and nothing else. Some of the benches need changing after so many years in use.

Waiter CHRISTIAN Visited the opera grill for Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend and I can’t fault the place at all it was unreal. What made the night even more was the top service from Christian who made us feel welcome and took the nervous edge off such a big night. This lad deserves a pay rise! Will defiantly be visiting again soon!

We opted for the mixed Asian starter. It was £35 for a couple, all the food was covered in barter and deep fried, very poor. We opted for steak tatar, I received at best 3 teaspoons of steak. The rest was onions and whatever else they added. If you're a foody, don't come here! The staff were excellent, though. We dined here around 6 months ago and couldn't fault it, maybe that it's bevommore poplar they have lowered the standards

Second visit here on a works occasion. Both times the food has been outstanding. Nearly all staff “the American from Texas for example” are really nice, approachable and helpful, however 1 individual (old miserable male in a blue suit) was incredibly rude, dismissive and was pulling faces when asked questions. Other than this sad pouting individual that ruined our night we had a pleasant time and if not for the encounter with miserable, rude old man in the blue suit the review would be 5 star.
