Pop in here after walking from Charing across the fields. Lovely friendly staff , lovely seating areas at the front and back of the pub..We shared a meat/cheeses platter and homemade nachos which were the best I've had for a long, long time.

Ok prices and the staff are helpful etc but the food is Mid, at best! Frozen bag chips so not the spot if you fancy a proper fish and chips! 1st and last visit!

I'll say stick to the traditional fish and chips. I thoroughly enjoyed mine. I don't know about their other dishes but the ribs, spaghetti Bolognese and seafood platter that the rest of my family ordered, could have been better. Staff were friendly. It was quite warm indoors and too chilly to sit outside. Probably something that Aircon could easily take care of. We did have good fun though.

We were excited when we saw the daily specials which had a number of fish- based options and so chose to eat here based on the menu offered. Having found a table, we went to the bar to order food and drinks. Unfortunately, despite there being two people behind the bar, only one appeared to be serving. He was very sociable and chatty, but that did mean a bit of a wait to be served. When it was our turn, we ordered two dressed crab salads, two haddock and chips (as the cod had sold out) and a steak and kidney pudding. We then took our seats, with drinks, and waited for our food. 20 minutes later, a young man came out from the kitchen to say that the crab had sold out, so what did we want an alternative. We asked for chowder, but that was also sold out. We asked for scallops with bacon, and was told there was only one portion left. So we settled for that, and another haddock and chips. The young man said that usually they would’ve had stuck ‘sold out’ stickers on the menu chalk board, but hadn’t got round to doing that yet, which was frustrating, as it was the menu that had attracted us in the first place. The food wasn’t bad, but I feel overpriced for the quality of what we received. The haddock and chips were just typical pub grub. The scallops were a little weird, in a soup of garlic butter with the tails left on and very slimy and mushy, with a single slice of bacon laid on top. The steak and kidney pudding was ok, but out of a packet/tin. Overall not bad, but not somewhere I would rush back to.

Food was nothing special and quite pricey,but service was good. I had the macaroni cheese and to be honest, the children's wasn't much smaller than mine, it just didn't have the small salad.

Came for lunch, 'catch of the day' fish was not nice, batter was soggy and tasted like it had been frozen and not fresh at all. Others in our party didn't enjoy theirs either. Wouldn't eat here again. And the staff behind the bar was rude and not accommodating to one person's dietary needs! Avoid

Food was substandard for a sea side pub/restaurant. Bar lady extremely unhelpful and rude when asking about gluten free options. Asked for cheese on chips (simple request) to be told that isn't an option with the particular meal chosen. Very strange and make up rules as they go along.

The food is lovely and the drinks are not too badly priced the staff are very friendly and it's a very friendly place with a nice size garden for kids to let off some stream and run around safely with a fantastic open fire in the winter and shows all the sporting channels.

Brilliant as always. We go as much as we can when in our caravan with the boys (dogs). Friendly starf & food is always amazing.

An excellent lunch with friends. There's a good choice on the menu and also a good choice of specials. The portion sizes are more than ample and very good value for money. My wife is Gluten Free but the friendly staff make sure that her meal does not compromise her diet. My steak and kidney pie was delicious and so was my wife's lamb dinner. The establishment is also dog friendly. The parking is limited to thirty minutes but as long as you sign yourself in on the screen in the bar (which is well signed) you can increase this to three hours.

Confusing parking system. Rude lady behind the restaurant bar. Sighing and being impatient as I tried to order food and drinks for the family, like I was inconveniencing her. Food was not nice at all and very overpriced. Very rundown place.

Pub was fairly empty at the time, but food was fantastic. Proper East End pie & mash from Robins got consumed with a pint or 2 of Proper Job. Good price. Walked out very contented.

Good food large selection and ample portions

We met up with family here in August to mark the passing of my young nephew Connor who lost his life on Dymchurch beach nine years ago. We all spent around two hours in the establishment and purchased drinks, followed by a highly emotional walk on the beach. Two of our party later got fined by Civil Enforcement for overstaying our parking. I can not find the words to express my disgust. Karma will catch up with you.

Don't be put off by the look of this pub / restaurant. From the outside it looks dated - inside too ( but it was built circa 1733!) The food is amazing, the service is great and the garden at the back sheltered from the wind. We took an American friend for lunch, she's elderly and eats very little. She wanted a shrimp (prawn) salad and we asked for two plates - the prawns were plump and juicy the salad was freshly prepared and there was more than enough for the two of of us at lunchtime. There was french bread on the side - excellent value. Highly recommend this little gem

Waited almost an hour for a cheese ploughman’s and a chicken burger and chips, which was average at best! If I was visiting Dymchurch again I would only come here for maybe a drink and the seafood stall.

Fantastic food service and price . Staff so pleasant and helpful. Food was amazing. And the price definitely value for money Will be coming back again

How can you charge for a roast dinner with no roast potatoes and no Yorkshire puddings. And my nephew only wanted a bun yet the lady charged for a whole baguette what a rip off would NEVER eat in there again. Service was dry

Wow, what a little gem of a pub. We've spent a couple of hours here twice in the last 2 days. The food is lovely and well priced

Don't know if we caught the them at busy time but ordered the roast lamb dinner. We were told there were no roast but we were OK with new potatoes. However when served there was no Yorkshire pudding either. Do it was disappointing that we were not told this at time of ordering as we definitely chosen something different. Also really disappointing to be charged £1.60 for a plain burger bun.

The pub has parking and outside chairs it has a garden which is easy for accessible in a wheelchair the whole place is dog friendly the staff are absolutely wonderful they come and help you with the wheelchair they are polite and kind and go above and beyond very good food as well

We have been go here for over 20 years every time we go to Dymchurch. We had a lovely meal and It took 45 minutes for the food to come out. However there’s a 30 minute limit on parking. #civleenforcement. At not point did any of the staff warn us about the 30 minute carpark time. Now we’ve got to pay £100 fine. Absolutely disgraceful. If we had known we would have paid or moved our car. BE WARNED!!!

We always go here for me every time we’re go to Dymchurch. Food is very good and the people working there are lovely. But be WARNED the carpark is ONLY 30 minutes or you will get a £100 fine. I’ve been going here for many years and no one mentioned about the carpark whilst we were there. Now we are expected to pay £100. Absolutely disgraceful

Very good overall experience here; we went in on a weekday/Friday just to avoid extra crowds or parking issues at a weekend (?). Do Make sure you register your reg no. on arrival to give you the free 3 hours. We both had fish n chips, medium size which was a good amount and enough tasty chips but not piled high, 2 alco free beers and in all it was £37. The fish was fresh cooked and very moist with white soft meat and a thin crispy batter and some tartare sauce. Would come again and try the squid dish or sea bass. Only downside was 5 of my chips were overdone and plates a bit small so lost a star today.

Great seaside pub, close to the beach and amusements

Had a tuna/sweetcorn baguette which was fine. Later popped in for a cuppa and chocolate nut sundae. Have to say though the ice cream was tasteless, the only fault

2nd time we have had dinner here and no problems. Food good service good. Will be back again soon I hope.

Ordered a crab salad and ham ploughman’s which cost best part of £30. You moved a lettuce leaf and there was the crab which was out of a tin and just tasted of salt. Got two small pieces of baguette with the ploughman’s and silver skin onions. Would have been cheaper to order a crab sandwich and ham sandwich Will not be going back, definitely gone down hill

Ordered for my family, first time coming here today and my I ordered a roast dinner, a burger and chips and a kids nuggets and chips. The food itself was pretty delightful it was hot and tasted fresh ( the chips were lovely tasted like a chip shop) my biggest disappointment was the fact that I had less chips on my plate than my sons meal which was nuggets and chips and the burger was obviously just a. Chef larder patty so very little or no authentic burger making at all just cheap and easy for them but noting that I expect far more for the value. I ended up buying two drinks of fizzy and a j20 and that came to over 12 quid just for 3 drinks it’s very very overpriced and it’s worth noting I saw a foreign family arrive and during this time He wanted a water ( tap) and a sprite to which they had no sprite and asked if 7 up was fine? He said yeah that’s fine and she comes back with bottled water and a tiny mixer 7 up can and charged them full price this place is obviously doing everything they can for extra cash I don’t know if there’s money troubles or not but I think the rating easily could have been better but that portion size was unforgivable especially considering the price Nice place regardless clean and tidy with a buzzing atmosphere and despite previous reviews saying that the food is bad and microwaved etc I wanted to see for myself and we definitely enjoyed ourselves but please look at the sort of things above as this is what will lose business long Term

Friendly team nice place to visit whilst on the seaside

The best fish and chips I have ever had. The haddock was so well cooked, that it just melts in your mouth as soon as you have it. Great choice of draught beers and it's very close to the beach.

Birthday Lunch, went to Dymchurch today for a mooch along the beach and round the shops and arcades, went in for lunch and it didn’t disappoint us, friendly staff and lovely food, I had the steak and kidney pudding with chips , peas and gravy, my partner had the scampi, we also had desserts and they were delicious, will definitely be making a return trip soon

Ideal place for the young kids as there's nice size beer garden and play area and plenty of outside tables and parking

The food was lovely. Unfortunately the lady in charge was very rude to me at a simple request (that I was more than willing to pay for - I asked to buy a portion of bolognaise sauce to add to my daughters pasta - bolognaise was on the menu). Granted it was busy (which I imagine should be a positive thing for a pub in the current climate) but the rudeness was not necessary (and potentially unwise given there was a group of about 20 of spending money in the pub garden). Al other staff were perfectly friendly. I sadly personally would not choose to go back to this pub again as a result.

My husband had traditional pie and mash and liquor which was£8.00 it was more like a kids portion the mash was two little scoops as if was dished up with ice cream scoop the pie was small and he said it was not very nice with watery mince and the liquor was very thin indeed wish I had taken a pic, I had korma curry which wasn't to bad sauce was a bit runny but had better. Sorry don't think we will be going back. Can't really rate the other food.

The food was amazing, extremely hot, didn't wait long and good service. You never get hot food like this in many places now and the service from both members of staff was good.

We were having a day out and decided to pop in for a cuppa and a slice of cake. It was very nice and the staff were very good too. We have since had an evening meal twice here. Food was very good and again the staff were excellent. Looking forward to going back.

Brilliant pub. Friendly welcome, amazing food. Have a pudding in take away boxes as they were too nice not to have one. We were stuffed from our meal. Would definitely visit again if we were down that way again. Thankyou

Waste off money for what u get Kids meal Mac n cheese £6 not even half a bowl Chicken nuggets ( hard as a rock , kids would eat them ) £22 for the meat combo!! What meat , more chips and peas , one egg , nasty cheap sausages, 2 hard onion rings and what I thought was mushrooms ended up being hard breaded mushrooms Even the table next to us bought a second helping as it was not enough!! Wish I went with my first choice mc ds

Group of 8 went daytime for lunch Nice people but the food was disgusting they need to change their oil it tasted so dirty I felt sick after the gammon was GREY the food was cheap and nasty and the glasses smelt like wet dogs. Honestly come on guys do better. No one finished their meal, one of us had to go and throw up after from the excessive oil she felt so sick

Love a chowder, asked if freshly cooked , told cooked on premises but then frozen , still when it came it was delicious , HOWEVER. ( see photo) the portion was tiny , in the photo it shows a chowder to the top of the pot , by another reviewer ,mine was less than half full, asked the staff who informed me it was a “ portion” , no it was MEAN, just a few spoons full, very disappointed

Stopped here for a drink on a lovely day in Dymchurch. I had a pint of Tribute and it was perfect. Sat in the sun watching the world go by. Fast service with a smile.

Pub close to the beach. Packed out for lunch so maybe avoid around there if you want quick service. Food was good though and they do have Sky sports!

terrible food, its all microwaved. order our food and within 10 minutes it arrived, and upon tasting it we realised its all microwave, and one come out hot on the outside still almost frozen on the inside. and the price of the food and how much you get is a rip off. wont be coming back for food.

Staff lovely and food great, only disappointment was my strawberry milkshake which did not taste nice. I would suggest that they try to avoid using an Milkshake full of artificial flavors and gums. Instead, use a higher-quality vanilla ice cream that is made with actual milk and cream. It will create a much tastier milkshake that is super rich and creamy with fresh ripe strawberries. I kindly informed a member of staff about my milkshake had no strawberry favour, just went on deaf ears.

The restaurant was difficult to find as it is out the back of the bar near the toilets, the bar staff were not very helpful when entering the pub or welcoming at all The food portions are very small, the battered Cod was very mushy in the middle and not enjoyable. Very disappointed in having oven chips rather than home made chips Overall not a great experience, I would not recommend it if you are after a typical sea side fish and chips.

Lovely clean comfy pub with plenty of parking, we didn't eat so can't comment on the food but a lovely place for a little rest stop while enjoying dymchurch.

Thought is was a good little pub but have just been sent a £100 parking charge through the post was a usual visitor and can't believe this has happened whilst I was within the venue. Is a shame and ruined Christmas.

Great meals & good service. I had the Christmas special the garlic mushrooms were lovely & the homemade stuffing was amazing. The ice-cream with Bailey's was also lovely.

This is a traditional British Pub. It has a public bar and a saloon bar where they serve an extensive choice of menu options including a number of vegitarian options. We liked it because its a proper pub and not a pub with a fancy restaurant attached. Food was reasonably priced and served promptly. Staff were very pleasant and the saloon bar was nicely decorated. There was a couple of real ale options at the bar. There were some cakes on display that looked great. Parking was directly outside. Not crowded out of season but probably gets busy at the height of the season. I have given the rating on the context of what it is. (Ie Its not a 5 star hotel/ restaurant.)

Reasonably priced delicious meals.

We all had different meals and no one complained about the food was very busy and you cannot book a table though we just got in before it got busy so found enough room l had pie mash not bad wasn’t enough liquor though but would go back even though it was rushed just put plates on table then went to serve others

Vast choice of menu, had the roast which was excellent. Every meal that came out looked delicious. Fast,efficient service . Very friendly.

pub was ok however I had a very poor attempt at a traditional pie mash and liquor, soggy pies crusty mash and the liquor was setting to a gel as it cooled down the whole meal had a reheated/microwave feel about it. may try some of the other food on offer next time but will avoid the pie and mash at all costs.

This was our first time eating at Ocean Inn, all our meals were hot and delicious. Even better I had pie, mash and liquor which was 10 outta 10.

Have recently moved to Dymchurch and thought I would give them a try. Where should I start I ordered my food at the bar for takeaway after getting home and opening my food I wasn’t pleasantly surprised as the meals were like kids meals and terrible value for money after paying £75.00 for the meal I feel like I have been robbed and defiantly will not be returning there. All I can say is if your hungry and want value for money please don’t go there.

Lovely pub with a great atmosphere. There’s a main bar and a separate dinning that’s a lot quieter. They also have a good sized garden for the children and a fair bit of outside seating. I was surprised how vast and varied the menu is, from fish and chips to lambs liver. Loads of fish and seafood choices. The fisherman’s basket was very tasty and ample, nice crispy chips too. The prices are fair too. They have a large car park but you have to put your registration number in at the bar if not you could get a fine. Worth a visit.
