Market Square in Shepway

Market Square is a fab venue! Josh and his team have been fantastic to us! We were hosted for a mini music festival and were taken care of with love! We also had some vegan food (small plates and pizzas), and the food was delicious! Lovely cosy live venue downstairs, great size, atmosphere and lights! Lovely cafe with fresh juices and food upstairs. They do make yummy juices and coffees too!

I love that the basement Rendezvous space has become a hot spot for great music and events for a wide audience. The style is post-industrial chic meets art deco, the feeling is intimate and comfortable. A nice community feel. Last week I met friends upstairs for an excellent value meal and cocktails, then just strolled down for the event. Great food and entertainment all in one super friendly place!

The service was super friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious—full of flavor and nicely presented. The atmosphere was cozy and relaxed, making it a really enjoyable place to eat. Highly recommend!

I come here every day for either breakfast or lunch, it is an amazing venue with the best staff and service. The food is always fresh and chef always makes the food to my liking (I am very specific how I like it to look and be cooked) there is never any push back when asking for things. Nothing is too much for the staff. Josh does an excellent job running around getting involved with every aspect of managing the venue and the staff are so attentive. Charlotte is my favourite but all the guys are truly amazing. I just had breakfast today a dish I put together myself and chef nailed it. I could not have been happier. I even did a little happy dance on my seat while eating. This place is a must go when visiting Folkestone. It's an all-rounder, I come in on my own but never feel alone, sometimes I bring my dog as it's dog friendly and a venue for all types. The juices are a must try and also the steak and eggs chimichuri. I could not have scraped my place anymore if I tried. If you come on a sunny day the outside seating is perfect for relaxing in the sun with an audio book and beverage, it feels like when I go to Italy and dine out on the bistro tables, its my little slice of heaven close to home. Such a wicked place to go. We spent my daughter’s 18th here and the staff were incredible. We played table tennis down stairs as well as darts. The cocktails were flowing and the staff really looked after us. Since then we have been to many events here, including kids half term activities. We’ve been out for family dinners and even popped in for a coffee and also breakfast. It’s our new favourite place to go. Can’t recommend this place enough. Josh and the team are fantastic.

The Sunday Service at Market Square is a delightful basement Jazz cafe, with a Ronnie Scott's vibe. Open on Sundays 2-4pm, food and drinks avaliable (I highly recommend the fries!), the jazz musicians are highly accomplished, it is a wonderful way to spend a Sunday afternoon! Me and my partner visited the other day for some food and drinks and let me tell you, we had a an excellent time! the food was great (beef burgers was juicy and super tasty), we tried their margaritas - also superb! and the fella with the long blonde hair and cap was an absolute professional and gave us exceptional service. We also forgot flowers, but he ran after us and made sure we left with them! Only thumbs down was for him being Liverpool fan :)). GREAT TIME. Will be back 1000%!

Shout out to the blonde male that served us. Six of us have just been for lunch and all thought his customer service was outstanding. Professional but relaxed, welcoming and attentive. Food was amazing; clean, fresh and well presented. Cocktails tasty.

Best decision to come here. Ramen was amazing and the portions are huge. Only topped by the whipped feta & honey side, which was out of this world. Chicken Bowl also really nice! Very friendly & helpful personel. Will be back anytime I'm in Dover.

Honestly one of the worst breakfast we have had in Folkestone. I tried this over a year ago and disliked it, so thought I would give it another try. I got the market fry, and my child had the child’s English breakfast. Very disappointing quality for the price (£25!). Tasteless really, and I never have understood the beans. They put their own twist on them and they are just absolutely awful. Second and last visit here. There are plenty of much better breakfast offerings in Folkestone. Avoid; for breakfast at least.

Lovely casual place to eat. Serving breakfast, brunch, lunch. Large portions, quality food, and reasonable prices. Our favorites as a family are breakfast huevos rancheros, pancakes, and ramen. Great options for vegan and vegetarian. This place does not disappoint Highly recommend!

Not sure what this place is trying to be. Is it a bar, restaurant, or music venue? We went on a Friday night and the place was deserted. We were seated downstairs, (only two other people there), although upstairs was deserted. There was the background sound of a band tuning up. What was that about? Lots of items on the menu were unavailable and the food was bland. As we were downstairs, service was poor. This place has an identity crisis it needs to fix.

Fantastic location, service and great food! We came for a breakfast bun and coffee which was delicious! Our dog was allowed on to and sat quietly on the little stage by the table - perfect!

Environment was comfortable - busy but also a very nice buzz. Both servers were so nice and kind. And friendly. Had to thank the chef for his food. Very talented. Neither of us had experienced food like it. Everything was so tasty, quality ingredients and cooked well. We had the satay chicken bowl and the Buddha bowl. Both excellent. The decaf tea and breakfast tea pots were the best we've had. Various choices of types of milks. I think 3 or 4. Maybe more. 5 stars.

A lovely spot for brunch! The food and drinks are absolutely delicious and the staff are so friendly. For Valentine's Day, they had delightful chocolate covered strawberries. We’ll certainly be returning!

Market Square is a great restaurant, and Josh was an extremely helpful host who went above and beyond to make the brunch fantastic!

During a rare opportunity without kids I managed to steal away and enjoy a tasty breakfast. Full English was super tasty and everyone really welcoming, highly recommend!

Visited on a Saturday evening. The staff were friendly and helpful. The restaurant is spacious and has cool decor. There were various vegetarian options and the portion sizes were big. The budda bowl was delicious.

We decided to have brunch at Market Square as it appeared spacious and relaxed inside with large windows and welcomed dogs. The menu offers a good selection of classics as well as a selection of appetising unusual choices and a good range of drinks. The food portions were generous, well presented and very tasty, accompanied by some equally good coffees and cold drinks. The waiting team were welcoming, friendly and attentive, also giving the dog some welcomed treats. Good value for money and definitely worth a visit; I'm sure we'll return when in town.

Really disappointed with this place now, been before and it was good. Had plenty of vegan and vegetarian options, this time was extremely limited, and they didn't have all the ingredients for the breakfast, but was going to add other bits to it to make up for it, trouble is there was nothing else to add! Ended up our table leaving to go elsewhere as most of the group couldn't get breakfast there.

This place has gone down hill, really disappointed last time we went in. The pictures on Google give the wrong impression as to what it's like now. Menu's were sticky and dirty, so was the bar. A substantial amount of food wasn't available on the menu as they had run out? It's not what it used to be and is turning into a place where it feels like you've gone to Weather spoons for food instead. Don't know what's changed since the last time I went, staff, chefs, Management maybe....🤔 There's plenty of other places in Folkestone to go for decent food now, this place hasn't kept up unfortunately.

I go here mainly because of the most delicious rooibos tea. The food I've had so far has been very tasty (maybe the breakfast could've been a little hotter). The staff are polite, helpful and pleasant.

Atmosphere and staff were great and was a lovely environment. Although, it's now the second time I've eaten there and the second time I was disappointed with the food. It may be my personal taste, but I just find the food to just be "OK". For an establishment with such a nice vibe - and price - I expected the food to be better. Perhaps it's just too fancy/hipster for my taste. Having said all that, I would certainly go back for a coffee or beer, just not food.

5 of us have just been for a great evening meal at Market Square. Josh our waiter was fab, really fun and nothing was too much trouble. Pizzas were delicious! A really fab night :-)

Hadn't visited for several months but decided to go for lunch. Menu had been updated and the whole place had a revamp. Staff are really lovely and friendly. Food was sensational! Did not want the Miso salmon to end. Loved it so much we came back the next day for brunch. Oh my gosh! The corn fritters are unbelievably delicious. Will be coming here regularly from now on. Lovely atmosphere, gorgeous decor.

Good coffee, lovely cakes and great shop underneath, super bread and pastry, great variety of unusual healthy products and produce. Great food with a good selection for meat, vegetarian or vegan.

The breakfast is so good here. We had the veggie breakfast, vegan breakfast, pancakes and breakfast bake here and all incredible. They are so family friendly here and we're so kind to the children, even getting more blueberries for them as they loved them so much. We've been quite a few times now and always been really happy with the food, service and atmosphere

Vegan breakfast was beautiful and I'm not even vegan! Hubby had pancakes which were perfection. Staff was sooo lovely, thank you for a great experience!

On Sunday we decided to go in as the food we saw looked incredible. Upon entering, we were gwelcomed by bartender letting us know thar the wait for food is 30 min. What we didn't understand that the wait for ordering the food is going to be at least 30. And it wasn't busy ... so after over 20 min, waiting for being acknowledged we left even hungrier..

Nice spacious spot for some brunch. Enjoyed the vegan burger & the staff was very kind.

Thought I’d pop in for breakfast today as I’d previously had very good breakfasts here. I wish I had saved my time and money. Bacon was like plastic, a teaspoon of mushrooms, a dry tasteless sausage, tangy beans, dried up sliced potatoes, all piled ontop of a dry piece of bland focaccia. All this for the tidy sum of £13.75. Seems an ongoing theme in the L&B restaurants. See my previous review and picture of the Ship in sandgate.

Josh was a great host breakfast was excellent , we had eggs royal and salmon and scrambled eggs on sourdough toast… A++++++ Locals from St Margarets Bay …

We visited for the first time for lunch and weren’t disappointed! I had the flat bread topped with chicken caesar salad and it was delicious! My husband had the beef burger which he said was nice. Lovely atmosphere and staff were great. Highly recommend their iced lattes as well 😋

I came here a number of times for breakfast whilst on maternity leave with my daughter and loved it each time. The coffee is great, much better than the chains, the food is really good, and I love the atmosphere of the place with all the colour and plants! It is a little on the pricier side but I really did enjoy being able to sit in one of the comfy chairs in the corner, feed my daughter and read for a bit. I never felt rushed to leave.

Lovely lunch here today, waiter couldn’t do enough for us and the children. Food delicious. Can not wait to return

Fabulous food. We had breakfast here and it was phenomenal. Service was very quick and extremely friendly. The food tasted wonderful and the sausages are some of the nicest I've ever had. Especially loved the homemade sourdough toast. We also tried their smoothies and these are divine. Highly recommend.

Dreadful service. Had our food which was nice enough but our daughter was waiting 35 minutes for hers.. after being told hers was an extra 10 minute wait. I followed this up as we had finished/ table cleared ages ago to then be told they can't make her food... no apology, bit of attitude. When I then asked for a refund at the till we were told we weren't charged for it. Requested to see the receipt and there it was. Waiters didn't seem to know really whether they were coming or going. All a bit of a shambles.

The chicken broth was so good!! The staff were on point and a great place to eat. Highly recommend!! Will be going back.

Quite possibly the worst coffee I have ever had. Americano with a jug of milk on the side - what could go wrong? Cup filled so high there wasn’t room for the milk DUH. Coffee so strong impossible to drink. Waiter not bothered but then I guess we weren’t ordering food so he didn’t really care about us also he was more interested in placing his board so that it could be seen from the door. (Took about half hour moving it and rearranging a plant)

burger is just ok, fried Tofu not recommended, but recommend for a place to have rest.

First time eating here today and can’t fault anything at all! Very Tasty Food, Nice Calm Relaxing Atmosphere and Friendly Staff. We will be back again!

Lovely meal at Market Square with friends on a Saturday night. Food was delicious, couldn’t fault it. Easily the best meal out I have had in a long time. Jack’s service was second to none, attentive, entertaining and great people skills. Will definitely be returning and spreading the word!

Love the decor in this cafe. Food is decent and they do nice smoothies and juices. Service was slow when we visited which wasn't ideal, but still enjoyed the place and would be back.

I love this place so much I always take my visitors here. I've been for breakfast and lunch and everytime the food is lovely and fresh.

JACK in Market Square is outstanding !!

Has recently reopened for the evenings. Food not what it used to be unfortunately. Had a burger which was very dry and chicken satay which again was dry. Bao buns were nice though. Also the music was so loud I could barely hear the person sitting next to me. Used to be one of the best places to eat out. Service really good however.

Jack has been very attentive and friendly. Greeting on arrival, making sure everything was ok and great service provided! Great food and atmosphere. We will definitely be back to try the evening menu. Thank you Jack

As always, amazing food and amazing service. We came in the evening as a party of 6, with two young children. Staff are so accommodating and really go above and beyond. Food is fresh and delicious. One of my favourite restaurants in Folkestone. Highly recommend for breakfast, lunch or dinner!

My family and I came here to celebrate Mothering Sunday, and were treated to the most lovely time. The vibe here is comfy and cozy, but with plenty of seating, and the coffee was fantastic. Staff here are super kind and attentive - Jack in particular was really warm and welcoming, and made sure we were all well attended to: he even brought over a complimentary Mother’s Day mimosa for my lovely mum! Made it a really special day and we’re so grateful for the lovey time :)

We visited here today with our dog who can be a bit of a pain in a restaurant setting. We explained this to the staff who were fabulous and arranged for us to sit in a quiet area away from other dogs and even opened up a side door so didn’t have to walk through the restaurant. We had a delicious breakfast and the staff were chatty and friendly, both to us and our pup. Their actions meant we could enjoy our meal without worry and our dog was calm and happy. Great food and friendly staff who went above and beyond. 10/10

As soon as we walked in the door, we were greeted by Jack who made sure out evening was amazing. Such a lovely person who gave great recommendations in the duck gyoza and a dipping sauce for my fries! He went out of his way to make us feel relaxed and allowed us to have a great evening. Steph was also really helpful, checking in throughout the evening making sure we had everything we need. Would highly recommend going to Market square for their new Asian inspired evening menu, especially the chicken satay and the halloumi and ham burger! Market square are so lucky to have amazing staff like Jack and Steph!

Market Square is THE place I bring my friends to when they travel from London, NY, NZ all over the globe, I always take them to Market Square! Staff are beyond friendly and accommodating with all requests. Big shout out to Josh who helped me create the perfect atmosphere for meeting my girlfriend’s parents for the first time 😅 great guy! Great team! Food is divine!! Thank you!!

We came here today for pancake day with our little ones and it did not disappoint! Fantastic friendly service from start to finish. We had breakfast and our little ones enjoyed the free pancake deal which they devoured. All was delicious. We haven’t felt this relaxed and welcomed in a restaurant for a long time, so this experience was definitely worthy of a review. Josh played a massive part in making us feel this way, so helpful and friendly and went the extra mile without hesitation.

Market Square's pancakes are flipping fantastic – fluffy, golden, and basically a party in your mouth! What's even better? They're all about making everyone feel welcome, including SEN kiddos. Pancakes and good vibes – that's Market Square for you!

Always my first choice for catch up lunch with friends. Super vibe, amazing menu and food always delicious. Friendly hard working cheerful staff. Josh looked after us today and was super helpful, courteous and cheerful

My kids and I are semi regulars at market square and the staff are great, Connah and Jessie are particularly lovely and always make the kids feel welcome. The menu options are varied and the kids meals are very reasonable, especially for the size and quality of food. The lighting, temperature, and volume of music always match the vibe outside which is rare to find in Folkestone.

Fab brunch in Folkestone- Chef Maia’s weekly specials- had the chocolate chip pancakes they were so delicious and soft you can’t tell that they are gluten free! The walnut and banana pancakes that my brother had were also so delicious! 10/10 recommend!

I regularly come here and it is always fabulous. The food is gorgeous (the halloumi fries are to die for!), the ambience is lovely and the restaurant is really clean. Service is very friendly - Jack and Maia were particularly fab today and Connah knows what I want, coffee wise, before I sit down. The menu is fresh and delicious - the chefs are awesome. Everything I and my friends and family have tried has been wonderful. It is a pleasure to come here.
