Namaste in Dover

First time here in popular restaurant with friendly staff and great food, made very welcome and as previously stated not the usual standard Indian food but much much better with a fantastic choice all presented well and cooked to order. We look forward to returning in the future.

Really good food. Naan made in front of you. Authentic indian at its best, we also tried a street food potato burger along our curries all so tasty. Highly recomend it.

This restaurants’s food is brilliant and the quality to detail is amazing!! Would definitely recommend to friends and family.

Birthday Celebration We had 16 family members to celebrate a joint birthday and what a way to celebrate it with a cracking night at the Namaste. All the food was fabulous, very tasty indeed. The Staff were very attentive and very helpful.

The food we had was delicious. The wait wasn’t unreasonable either, but to be fir, it wasn’t busy. The meals were delicious, my Korma being very flavoursome and plentiful. I can’t remember what my friend had, but she assured me it was delicious.For dessert, we shared an icecream dish which was decidedly different, but also delicious. I have never before been to an Indian restaurant where the food was so unusual, but it was none the worse for that. Quite expensive, I thought, but otherwise very good.

Absolutely perfect, same Head Chef at the newly named (Chef De Mumbai). Came for dinner on our way to the ferry , over night in their car park , and again after our ferry trip from France in our motor home, dinner and over night in their car park . Great start and end to our holiday . The food is AMAZINGLY good .A warm welcome by all the staff every time we visit, we will be back !

Superb authentic food. The new owners have been bold in introducing the new mew menu. A diverse menu of taste, getting away from our pereived Indian food. Recommended.

Easy to pass and think that it’s closed but definitely stop and go in. Food was beautiful and staff were very friendly. Lovely to have so many vegan options to choose from. We’ll definitely visit again if in the area.

First impressions on walking in was that it was a sparsely basic decor but the aroma from the kitchen detracted me from that. We were a large group and very well catered for considering. Food was amazingly tasty, fresh and authentic. I had the Salmon Tikka starter which certainly wetted my appetite for more. Generous amounts for a reasonable price too. Recommended.

This has always been part of our expedition from the bottom corner of Cornwall to our sons house in middle Germany. Haven't been for a couple of years, due to Covid travel issues and so on, but we were ecstatic about being able to come back again. My wife and I are deeply passionate about our Asian food and this place is right at the top of anywhere we have eaten around the world. Didn't pre book, because we were unsure what time we would eventually get to Dover, but the lovely lady who answered the phone got us in with no problems at all. We were sat right by the wide open kitchen, where we could see the expert chefs lovingly creating these beautiful dishes. It was like watching artists at work. I would seriously recommend the mixed grill sharing starter, little bit of everything cooked under your nose in the tandoor oven. My lamb dish was beautifully, delicately spiced, with soft, melt in the mouth succulent lamb. My wife's chicken dish was equally superb. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, it is a real treat for us to come here, pity we live 350 miles away. Thank you to all of you for a fabulous evening, hope to see you again soon.

My partner and I booked a table to celebrate an early valentine’s meal as we will both be working.The service was outstanding and the food looked and tasted amazing it was beautiful.It looked and tasted equally as good.Our table was all set up for valentines and the atmosphere was romantic.We can’t wait to come back again already 🥰 We really had a lovely time.Thankyou ☺️

Five start food and a five start service. Couldn’t have asked for more. We landed here straight out of the ferry. We called 30 minutes Achaea’s if time. We were seated, greeted and served very well. The staff is very courteous, friendly and hard working. The kitchen staff from India who prepared some authentic and delicious dishes for us. Thank you

Ordered a delivery and I must say best curry I have had in years, rich deep flavours, authentic, and fresh, the naan was beautifully light. I normally suffer the following day but not with this, I wouldn’t hesitate recommending.

We had our first pre-lockdown meal here and it did not disappoint at all .what a brilliant idea to have your own pod bubble in the garden , this is actually superb as you can here yourself talk and the music is not too loud...

Been in deal a few years heard excellent reports of this place..maybe a dfl but at least we know our indians .this was twice normal price and disgusting dry starter no mint sauce ..fell to bits..main crikey terrible rice hard defo old naan vile really disapointed..avoid maybe new people or something look at the salad awful bottom of an old lettuce

Went here on the spare of the moment, did not know where to go for something to eat in Dover. But with very good reviews thought we would try this place out, but was not disappointed, lovely staff and food, would recommend

As two couples we went for the first time and were quite impressed.The tables were nicely spaced out, the staff wore face masks and the cleanliness was high.The open kitchen is a delight to watch.The lamb main dish was amazing, tender and tasty, the sauce equally so. The little copper pots they arrived in were lovely and kept food hot, my friend had a great biryani which had a bread cover on the pot, very unusual and unique, he loved it but said it had quite a kick, so did his bombay potatoes, maybe next time we can ask for less spice.The best thing was the huge choice of dairy free options for our wives, both have issues at most places we go to but not here, there's an abundance of dishes to choose from.Parma violet ice cream to finish was lovely.Service was great but we were asked far too many times if we'd like more drinks.Good pricing too.We'll be back.

Huge thank you to Sumit and his colleagues for the delicious food they served at our wedding - the whole experience from organising our menu and the logistics of the day (with covid considerations) through to the serving and the clear up were faultless. Every guest commented on how delicious the food was and many said it was the best wedding food they'd ever had!

I had visited the restaurant a few times before the lockdown. Now that they are open part-time after the lockdown, I found the menu well presented and their service was first class with extra care taken to protect the customers during the pandemic, with masks, social distancing, single use menus, etc. The staff really tried to make everybody feel at home. Well done, Namaste Restaurant.

Cannot praise this place enough,the service was excellent,nothing was too much trouble!.The food we ordered was prepared in front of us and the time between ordering and eating was so fast!! Old absolutely amazing,curries had so much meat and tasted beautifu.Definitely will be returning.

We've moved to the area relatively recently. Our first experience of this place. One week ago (15.8.20), we decided to have a takeaway. Several friends had recommended it and the online reviews looked excellent. Although very expensive for a takeaway meal, we decided to treat ourselves. Collection was 6pm Saturday evening. It was NOT busy. Order was 1 lamb biryani, 1 chicken biryani, 2 samosas and 2 poppadoms. We asked for extra veg in the main meals. A hefty £37.50 so we were expecting a wonderful meal. Order, collection & service was ok. Sadly, on dishing up the food, both biryanis looked like dog food - mushy and an unappetising yellow/brown colour. The raitas were ok but lacked seasoning. The 2 samosas were very large & stodgy. Pastry was soggy. The poppadoms were ok. The eating experience was no better. It all lacked flavour & seasoning. Each biryani only had 3/4 pieces of meat in each and the chicken was tough. The extra veg comprised soggy, overcooked 1 sm piece of broccoli & cauliflower each and 1" green bean. The portions were small compared to other establishments. We were so, so disappointed. We also felt completely 'ripped off' with the cost being £37.50. Even at a cost of £10.00, it would still have been too much money.

Due to the current situation, ordered meal for collection. Meal was ready on time and was hot and fresh. Service and value was very good.

Another visit to family means another visit to Namaste and as always it was excellent, can't fault it staff friendly, food excellent, again we will be back next time we are in the area

We have a motorhome and phoned and asked to stay in there carpark overnight before our Euro tunnel crossing, didn't realize it was an Indian restaurant until driving in the carpark,(BIG SMILE FROM ME).The food was amazing, staff were very friendly, toilets nice and clean a great night before going to Spain for Christmas and New year.

I have been here on quite a few occasions and spread out over a number of years. The food is always of the highest quality and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend to any lovers of Indian style food. It’s a little different to the usual standard Indian restaurants which makes it all the more a must try. Service is friendly but can be a little slow at busy times, but that’s a minor issue when compared to the food experience.

This being my fifth time here, I yet again enjoyed a brilliant meal. They know their way around the I Dian kitchen in all its aspects. Thank you.

We were having a flying visit to see our daughter in Dover and we spoke in advance, she asked where we wanted to eat, that was an easy answer, Namaste of course.

We loved this restaurant. Nice & clean .The BEST Indian food!The staff were top notch to make you feel like you were part of their family. The meals are cooked in open kitchen and we had a lot of people in Dover recommend how much they love this restaurant! A real Gem!

This is a true Indian restaurant with Indian chefs, I don't think I will go to a regular so called Indian restaurant again,if you want a vindaloo or madras you wont find it here just genuine regional food of India.

Went with family on recommendation of several other people, was unanimously voted a fantastic Indian meal. I would give 5 stars for the food. The decor is a bit underwhelming. The open kitchen is great to watch. Service was good but on this Thursday there were only about 3 other tables of people in the restaurant. Will definitely return

My Mum Sister and I visted Namaste. on the 10th October

We had prawn biryani, murgh makhani (chicken) + pilau rice with saag aloo and garlic naan. All very tasty, well presented and it was great to see it all being cooked

Truly amazing food. Possibly the best Indian I’ve visited for flavour and I’ve been to over 50 all around the country. The menu includes almost all of the usuals and a some dishes of their own. The service we had was excellent and can’t wait to go back (even though we live in Bedfordshire!)

Having read the reviews I was looking forward to this visit with friends. My first impressions were good, the restaurant looked inviting and the open kitchen certainly adds interest. The menu is a little different from the usual Indian restaurants so I was tempted to experiment. I found the paneer starter lacked any depth of flavour - I could taste chilli and onion but nothing more subtle. I chose a prawn curry for my main because the four line description made it sound rather special. How disappointing then to be presented with a dish containing only 8 small prawns in a rather overpowering sauce which did nothing to complement the prawns. I do not consider this to be adequate for a main meal.

Situated on the Dover - Deal road (A258) in what was formerly “ The Swingate Inn “ is now an amazing Indian restaurant. A fully comprehensive menu awaits you set in a modern styled dining room. At the far end is an open kitchen where all the meals are individually prepared and cooked within view of its customers. A very helpful waiter will guide you through the menu’s offerings. A large drinks menu is also available to accompany your choices. We shall certainly be going back again.....by far the best Indian foodie the region!!!!?

The best Indian restaurant in Kent plus excellent choice of foods on the menu. Great ambience and we always enjoy the food. A must visit place for true Indian cuisine. Keep up the good work !!

Food very nice and great to watch the chefs in the kitchen preparing it but let down by the service. Pressed the on table button for service, waited 5 minutes, pressed it again. This happened twice. After the main course we were told the sweet menu would be coming, waited 10 minutes before pressing the service button, waited 5 minutes, then pressed it again before someone came and apologised for forgetting us. Shame as the food is nice.

...but... a soulless restaurant. Really tasty and lovely lamb, well trimmed. Needs an interior designer here, the only thing missing!

We had not eaten here before as a family and decided to give it a go, the food was no more than average to be honest and it was a little expensive for what it was.

So disappointed. What a difference a year makes. Once we were seated it became clear that the Takeaways were taking priority. We waited some 25 minutes for papadam (which was sold to us that it was baked with coriander, onions and tomato when in fact it was just plain papadoms with tons of onion, very little tomato and little corriander. Our alarms bells started ringing at that point). Then we waited a further 30 minutes for the starters. All the while the kitchen staff were busy prepping and stacking up the plastic food containers for the takeaway service.

Overall very good, we had to wait awhile to be served but the food was worth it. My only concern is the fact that the restaurant fire doors were blocked by tables, which I believe is illegal.

Ignore the slightly dated decor because the food is amazing. In fact it just gets better each time we come here. Both here and their sister restaurant in Sandwich are just awesome. The food is the best I've eaten for a very long time. Can't wait to return

If you are looking for the BEST Indian restaurant in the Dover/Deal area, look no further than Namaste at Swingate Inn, Deal Road. The food was exceptional and very authentically Indian!! I wasn’t sure which dish to order and Amit, the Restaurant Manager gave me a personal recommendation of a dish and even guaranteed I would like it. He wasn’t wrong! It was the best recommendation as that dish was out of this world and also a firm favourite with the chefs there. The ambience was fantastic. The decor is very cleverly done with subtle hints of India such as the Bollywood hit Movie posters and the Indian Carom game board mounted on the wall. The food and customer service was the Best I have seen in a very long time and really accelerates this place to a GRAND dining experience. There are so many Asian tourists flocking to Dover that are always looking for authentic and unique Indian food, so look no further. Don’t waste an opportunity and bypass this place.I believe you will NOT be disappointed. My friends who have taken my recommendations have also been thoroughly impressed too!! Well done to Amit and his whole team!!

8 of us had a really lovely meal. The table was beautifully laid and everything was spotlessly clean. The staff were polite and friendly and the service was great. Everybody thought their food was delicious! Would highly recommend and will definitely be going back.

Another enjoyable experience at Namaste. My wife and I have eaten there quite a few times and taken family and friends there who have always enjoyed their meals there. Take aways are good as well and above average.

This Indian restaurant is so special , you can see the chefs prepare and cook the most delicious and different dishes. There is something for everyone here so please give it a go. The staff are wonderful and nothing is to much trouble.

Outstanding Punjabi-style Indian food. Open kitchen, cheerful chef, two delightful waiting staff who served everyone promptly with hot food and warm plates. Good bar. Roghan josh, channa masala, dum biryani and rotis all excellent.

5 friends and myself visited here last night with four of us experiencing it for the first time. The food was all amazing, we all picked a dish each to share between us all and none were disappointing. The naan bread was so light and tasty. There was an open kitchen in the corner so you could watch them cook. We also learnt they did takeways!! Will definitely be back!!

We were advised to go here by our b&b; host and as keen lovers of Indian food we were really looking forward to our meal however it did not live up to expectations. We found the food very oily and just a bit dull. We've definitely had better but the staff were very friendly and helpfull and it seemed popular enough so may just be personal taste but isn't somewhere we'd return too

very warm and authentic atmosphere, very warmly welcomed and cheerful reception, we were slightly worried about time because needed to catch the ferry. This was no problem at all, and our food arrived quickly and were served with a smile. No need to wait or wave for the bill, thanks to (discrete) digital calling. Our son who resides in Devon was home for Easter weekend & coincided with his Birthday. He loves Namaste so we took him for a his Birthday treat. It did not disappoint. Fabulous meal & the staff were on top form. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening out.

Have now been a few times... great curry, good staff.... place can get lively and noisy, but all part of the atmosphere..... open kitchen fun to watch.... but place does smell of cooking, and I can get sore eyes from the spice in the air! But again, all part of the night out!
