Moto Service Area M4 Motorway in West Berkshire

Nice place to stop. Not overly crowded and a good selection of outlets for weary travellers. Lots of seating inside and out, when weather permits.

I am embarrassed and disgusted at the state of the ladies toilets. On my way to Bath with visitors from Canada and seriously I was shocked. Better toilets in 3rd world countries! No locks on doors , overflowing toilets, majority out of order! Smelly, messy and dirty!

There were plenty of food outlets but the experience of the disabled toilets took my appetite away! the key to the toilets had to be obtained from the adjacent branch of Smiths which would suggest some control over the place. However, on entering it was obvious that the pull down support arm to the right of the toilet was missing, with a bare patch of plaster where it had been attached to the wall. the toilet itself was not flushed after the previous user, and i found that in fact the flush didnt work effeciently, producing only a trickle of water after several attempte.. The was basin tap was loose, although it did provide an adqhate amount of water. the floror was filthy with strange unidentifyable blobs 0f something unidentifyable but probably organis scattered about.! I had no idea who to report this to and i have limited mobility i didnt pursue the matter at the time.

I must admit toilets at service stations are usually purely for functional purposes- take a deep breath before entering, hover, touch as little as possible, spare tissues incase toilet tissue has run out or is stuck on the floor URGH But!!! These toilets were different! The ladies toilets were so clean. Freshly mopped floors. Pleasant smell. Clean WC and wash hand basins. Spotless

I have been driving between Essex and South Wales on the M4 regularly for over 40 yrs now. I often stop along the way, and it is good to see improvements have been made at Membury, Leigh Delamare and Magor services. The same cannot be said for Reading (Westbound). Parking spaces too narrow to open your doors, woefully inadequate toilet facilities and a lay out inside the building that causes pedestrian congestion, plus an exit route from the car park that causes confusion. It’s about time decent money was spend improving this facility.

Moto Services M4 Westbound- toilets dirty, unhygienic, dismal and disgusting...yuk!! I felt sick just entering the facility....yuk! Had a Greggs Steak Bake which was COLD and fell way short of my Greggs experience...yuk!

Sam is the man!! At (greggs reading services!) He was such a lovely person good customer service and looked after me he is a credit to your team! Steve

A really nice service station that is clean and airy. The service here was quick and efficient. There is plenty of parking and great facilities on site to use.

This was appalling.I was sooooooo angry!!!! I found out there was no Starbucks like EVERY OTHER service station in the uk !! I thought better of reading. Clearly I over estimated their ability to provided me with starbiees . Very disappointed. Do not recommend

Ready for a break ,we called into the M4 westbound services at Reading. I ordered food from Burgerking whilst my friend went to find us somewhere to enjoy our meal, but many of the free tables were dirty and hadn’t been wiped. The food came quickly and I was impressed that they that thought to separate a vegan meal and a meat meal in a different bag. My meal of a smoked bacon whopper and fries topped with cheese and bacon was cold. Not warm, cold. It’s clear that it had been sitting for quite a time. Before I could complain, the entire service station suffered a power cut and we were being ushered out by staff. There was no explanation and apart from a needed toilet stop, I paid over £20 for a very sub-standard meal and forced to eat my cold meal in the car.

All I wanted was a short break to stretch my legs and to enjoy a cup of tea. The first thing that hit me when I entered the building was that the Costa coffee had moved towards the back. This was no problem though.The teas and cake were of a standard quality and price for a Costa Coffee cafe . It did the job though. The staff were a little busy,but friendly.

Go to this regular as having two ASD children the staff are amazing with them! Sam , Philip and Chris are great at they job and always go the extra mile when they when my kids are talking to them!

I stopped at Moto on the M4 to grab a quick sausage roll and a coffee before continuing on to Bristol. I was exhausted after a long. difficult Friday afternoon journey, and with still further to go. I was greeted very warmly in Greggs, as I asked what the 'Spiced Pumpkin Latte' was like. Sam, who was serving, told me he liked it, so I decided to try that. When I came to pay, he would only charge me for the sausage roll. That greatly raised my morale. The spiced coffee was delicious, and just what I needed to continue my route! I was not to know that the rest of my journey held further appalling conditions and and additional 2.5 hours on the usual journey time. However Sam's kindness, together with my sustenance helped me cope, and I eventually arrived safely to my grandchildren. Thank you Greggs and thank you especially to Sam!

I have been something of a KFC fan since back in the last century and I have made no secret of my feeling that it has been going down hill in recent times. This was an exception to the decline. The food was good for KFC these days and the general service and experience was good too. They didn't even have any of those sill neck tie chairs. If only they could all be this good.

Omg what a shambles. Went for a burger King stood around for 10 min they shut the online system down. Ignored everyone who was waiting no information turned out they shut the whole burger Kong and all went off to work at the KFC. My daughter who was autistic was having a huge meltdown ignored by staff when asked what was happening. Went to KFC and then waited another 30_40 min for food. Horrendous there avoid at all costs

Poor, inadequate and unstaffed. There’s nowhere for a mum with a baby and a young child to go to the toilet without leaving the children unsupervised! That’s uncaring and disgusting. Where is the duty of care for all types of customers! We won’t be stopping at Reading again 🤬

I was there with a coach party to use the toilets, and they were filthy both ladies and gents so bad in fact that some ladies refused to use them 20th July approx 6.30 pm. I asked to speak to the manager to be told there wasn’t one but there were two cleaners who were not to be found. Issues like this tat affect the public should be addressed immediately inspected regularly and dealt with. Our coaches will be avoiding this service area in future.

We stopped here to grab something to eat and get a coffee on our way back home after an international flight. The whole experience was pretty poor. I nearly didn't get out of the car as the queue was nearly at the services entrance. That was a big clue as to why. Two staff were working inside. Nearly everyone ahead of us wanted a breakfast roll (which has to be made fresh to order). So one staff on rolls and the other one was moving product around the counter and emptying ovens, but not taking orders. After 15 minutes of waiting I asked for my standard order of two hot sausage rolls and a coffee. The rolls were not hot. To compound the problem there isn't a microwave oven behind the counter for 'health & safety issues'. Another issue was that the queue went across the sugar / stirrer station ruining the natural flow of customers. Queue on the left and exit right, people! I definitely won't be wasting my time here again. It's quicker to buy frozen sausage rolls from Iceland and cook them at home. . . .

Greggs! Bacon was dried out like a brick sausage was dried out the roll was rubbish hot chocolate was just powder and water and as for cappachino it was a flat white worst greggs ever and its like it ever time the other services are better

I think Reading services has gone downhill. There is such little choice there except Costa Coffee who seem to be taking over the world! There is a large Costa outlet, a Costa Express in WH Smith, a smaller Costa outside and a drive thru......talk about saturated.Then there is the quality and service.I usually avoid Costa given a choice as my experience has usually found the staff to be abrupt to the point of rudeness and miserable.Furthermore, on this occasion when we had ordered toast, the bread had clearly passed it's best and was chewy. We didn't bother complaining as I am sure it wouldn't have got us anywhere other than replacement chewy stale toast.In future we will stop at Membury.

We stopped here for a coffee and snack at Costa Coffee. The facilities were fine, though as others have noted cold water for washing hands seems a little mean on a cold day, especially with the current health scare and emphasis on hand-washing.There is also a good Marks & Spencer and W H Smith though petrol, as is typical at these service stations, was extortionately-priced.

As a frequent user of Reading Services I’ve found it amazing that there is no hot water in the toilets. I have contacted your service department just to be told the matter was in hand. That was months ago. On travelling towards London recently hot water was available. On my return journey eastwards only a ‘trickle’ of cold water came from the taps. Travellers use these facilities and then use the restaurants without proper hand hygiene. At the moment we are being asked to wash hands properly due to the recent very serious health scare. How can this be done under these circumstances? Get your act together Reading Services and help your visitors help themselves.

This is plainly a Service Area where nobody cares. Swung by for coffee. Costa operator was incompetent (27 Feb 2020, 1322hrs), management are urged to respond to this review). Ordered a Medum Size Americano, @ £3.19. Product was gritty and overstrong, was invited to help myself to milk, given the unappetizing result in a cup with no lid. Service area toilets were filthy! This place compares unfavourably with standards of catering in New York, USA where we had returned from that day.

I called into Reading East services W h Smith for some screen wash. I couldn't see any and looking around the shop a gentleman asked if he could help. I told him I was looking for screen wash which he took me to and explained it needed mixing with water. I was unsure what to do and had nothing to put water in so he said he would assist me. I went and bought the screenwash from a very smiley happy young lady assistant. I later find out the gentleman worked in smiths and was not on duty and was talking to his boss. Far beyond his duty I am thankful to him (Ian) and the excellent Zuzanna (apologies if the spelling is incorrect). Excellent customer service and noted a extremely smart manager which is unusual for service's unfortunately I didn't get his name but he was the only one in a white shirt and tall.

Tengo que decir que Reading West tiene un buen tamaño y mucho estacionamiento justo al lado del lugar principal. Una selección de restaurantes y cafeterías. También un Marks and Spencer con una muy buena selección de alimentos principales disponibles.Inodoros limpios y agradables y un área para perros para esos calurosos días de verano.

Frecuentemente visito los servicios de Reading Eastbound con mi esposa discapacitada. Esta semana llamando a W h Smith donde fuimos atendidos por un asistente llamado Ian. Qué hombre tan extraordinario que trata con niños y adultos excitables que, cuando no podía decidirse, era alegre y educado con cada cliente en la cola. Un asistente como este nunca me había servido en una tienda, incluso en personas como Harrods, un hombre verdaderamente notable. Incluso cuando se dirigía a un descanso, mi esposa discapacitada le habló para agradecerle y él pasó al menos 15 minutos hablando con nosotros. No es muy frecuente que los asistentes sepan cómo tratar y hablar con las personas discapacitadas, pero él parecía manejar sin problemas.

Stopped at M4 Eastbound Reading whilst enroute to Heathrow. After enjoying a relaxing break at Costa continued to Heathrow. Unfortunately on arrival my daughter discovered she had left her bag containing valuables, bank cards, ID, keys etc. Frantic return journey was soothed 10 mins from arrival when customer service staff confirmed bag and contents had been already located and secured. Many thanks for how staff dealt with the stressful situation in a compassionate calm way. All too often you hear of bank, credit card fraud and identity theft. The Costa staff were a credit to the company.

This is a busy location and needs more parking spaces to accommodate the customers, a good range of food outlets and with clean toilets.

Food was the same as normal, more expensive because well, it's the Services, and even though it was late evening and the place was nearly empty they still hadn't cleaned the tables.

Although quite busy they were managing quite well, although there were queues at both the Greg’s outside and the M&S.; we bought food at both the above places, bought coffee in the Costa and took them to the outside Costa seating. This area was rather tatty and not particularly clean. After a time, we did move inside to comfier chairs! The toilets were cleanish, although again rather old and tatty. There was a dog walking area, but as far as we could see no picnic area or a place for children to run around safely! A good average service area.

Third time in one year I have been at a service station COSTA and they have no ice and iced drinks. Could have put it down as a special service-station-ice supply situation, but it has not happened even once with a Starbucks! Get your business sorted COSTA!

We broke our journey here, The carpark was very busy due to being a Saturday in August, I found the signage for the carpark confusing as it did not seem to have a one way process.

Queue of at least 80 ladies and some were elderly. Poorly designed toilets with several out of order. Not the cleaners fault but poor management. In need of an overhaul.

AVOID AT ALL COSTS - toilets smells like an open sewer - many people commented on this. Toilets had latches covered in blood that you have to pull open. Seats of toilets are covered in excrement and the floors covered in dirty toilet paper and sanitary products. The smell was disgusting and made me feel ill. I complained twice in person before, but NOTHING has been done. Recommend a lay by if you get caught short.

This is our preferred stop between South Wales and Kent. Nice easy access off the motorway. Usually spot a rabbit or two. Toilets are always clean so a massive bonus. Used the Greggs which is a good one too. Would recommend.

Called here on way to Luton. All the usual suspects on a motorway service. Went to Costa which is typical of all of them. Services and toilets clean.

We stopped at the services on the way home from Heathrow to Plymouth for lunch and chose Burger King, We ordered 2 whoppers with cheese and fries and I must say we were delighted with both and the staff were excellent.

Freshly cooked Chicken Burger Meal, posting this review to compliment the staff, yes the food was good, but the service on the night we visited was better. We arrived 15 minutes before closing, instead of standing around waiting, noticing one of our party used a walking stick, the lady suggested we sit in Arlo's area (they were closed at the time) and bought our meal across personally. Thanks to the team.

Good parking facilities. Men's toilets very clean but wife said the women's weren't great. Had a greggs which was standard brill. Staff were friendly too. Would recommend.

Really great full English breakfast and generous portions. Friendly and quick service. Would be happy to go there again.

We was on way home to Devon where we stopped off at Reading Services. Car park was heaving as you would expect however we found a space fairly near the front.

Well worth organising your journey to stop here if you are disabled. The facilities are high spec, including an adult changing table and room for a hoist. The bathroom is clean and smells nice.

At 0815 on a Saturday morning there were no newspapers available in WHS. When I asked an assistant was dealing with them but made no apology, no offer to give me one and by body language indicated she did not care at all.

Just stopped at Reading services for a coffee break 20.45 Sunday on route to South Wales. Paying premium prices for goods and the place was a disgusting mess. Food and containers strewn across numerous tables and on the floor. Whoever is in charge is failing miserably. What we witnessed was bad. One to avoid.

Slow service after ordering from the machine.. waited 20 minutes to receive the wrong order and then another 10 minutes. Blonde woman rude and abrupt giving out the food and everyone talking in a foreign language.

En el interior tienes que hacer el recorrido habitual por todos los puntos de venta para llegar a los baños. Stopped on return trip home from south east. Useful area for exercising the dogs. I avoid paying for over the odds refreshments so make the visit as quick as possible after dog exercise.
