Messy Chef in Portsmouth

We came as a family for a Saturday meal but left unimpressed. The prices aren't too bad but the service was slow and the food cold by the time it came. Meat was slimy, sauces tasted metallic. Avoid.

Had a horrible wrap that was stale and cold, most of the wrap was folded in on itself and impossible to chew. I left a review and then they told me that it was impossible and that I was wrong.

Always amazing food! Burgers are some of the best in Portsmouth. Good value for money and are always delivered packaged to ensure food stays hot.

Oh my gosh. I didn't know that wings could be like this. I didn't know that iced tea could be like this. You know when you have that ex partner who like seemed alright but then you get a new partner and suddenly they are going out of their way to do everything right and you're just like oh my gosh THIS IS WHAT I WAS MISSING?? THIS IS THE NEW PARTNER OF FOOD PLACES! The food? Sublime? The drinks? Delicious? The cute mini shovel spoons they serve with the desserts and call "Gold Diggers"?ADORABLE!!

We booked out the place for 23 of us on the way back from west whittering beach. The aesthetic and branding gives off urban vibes and is divided into a curb facing front room and a more private back room with a TV. Sinc sour group was so large, we were able to divide adults and teens between the two spaces and everyone loved happily ever after! As for the food, we ordered: Hot Mess 5/5 perfect ratio of spice:burger patty Classic Mess (no salad) 5/5 simple n YUM! Mac n cheese bites 5/5 these got eaten so fast! Fries 5/5 just the right amt of salt n herbs Orange juice for kids: 5/5 Plain Hot Dog (only bun and hotdog) 4/5 I think my daughter was so full from cheese bites n fries, she wasn’t feeling the hot dog. The patty in the burgers are SO flavorful. They only add salt and black pepper and it allowed the taste of the meat to really sing! The buns are perfectly toasted , not so much that it’s crumbly but not so little that there’s no bite. The Mac and cheese bites never made it to me because my kids ate them so fast, I don’t even know what they look like let alone how they taste! I tried a friend’s dessert and it was DELISH!! Overall, very nice experience. The staff are SUPER friendly and I love the story of how they arrived to where they are today. Would 1000% go back again :)

We were staying in the area, and decided to give the Messy Chef a try. We were very glad we did. The food was excellent, friendly efficient service, even the music was great. I would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Portsmouth.

Hey Team, placed my first order on Uber eats and omg it arrived so bloody fast and it was flipping amazing. Had the ultimate messy burger was so good. 10/10 will definitely be back :D

We had the messy zing, the hot mess, the classic mess, firecracker, firecracker wings. The burgers were gone too quickly for us to get a picture. Delicious.!

Back in Portsmouth at the weekend and found this hidden gem. I had the Ultimate Mess and my wife the BBQ Mess with loaded fries. Best Burgers we’ve ever had and, unlike other places, the fries were fully loaded. Great speaking with one of the owners as well, we wish you luck, you’ve got 2 new Messy Fans and we’ll definitely be coming back next time we’re in the area.
