Marks and Spencer in Basingstoke and Deane

Nice mid morning snack But --- annoying that there was NO Saucer with my cup of coffee! I asked for one only to be told they don't have any!!! So coffee spilled on to tray. Puts me off going to M&S again.

My wife and I always liked to use this cafe on our visits to Basingstoke. Walked in with a friend last week and thought how nice it looked refurbished. Then I saw the dreaded machine to order and pay! Walked straight out again. We won’t be using this place anymore.

Cafe’s located on the upper floor of the main M&S store within Festival Place shopping mall. We were there for an afternoon snack and hot drink, the menu is mainly what I would call “light food” (see my pic for menu sample). Prices are reasonable, staff cheerful, service quick and tables cleared promptly. Interior is quite light due to one end overlooking the mall and this is where the most popular tables are located. There are plenty of coffee shops in and around the mall and although there’s no particular reason to chose this one above others, I guess it’s down to personal preference.

Staff are not what you expect for m&s. Food choice not good and very very noisy with staff banging and breaking cups etc at the station constantly. Deafening.

Don't normally shop at M&S, so was looking forward to my visit to the Chineham branch in Basingstoke. The experience was appalling. Staff were rude. Made us feel like a neusence. I'll stick to Tesco, thanks but,no thanks

What can e say, other than everything positive and encouraging? M&S always create a good atmosphere with excellent service and good products, cooked and presented very well

This is just your average Marks and Spencer store. Nothing really stands out about, if you need a quick snack i would just come here and go to the food section and grab a snack!

I visited here for the first time yesterday with the mother, and unlike most reviewers on here, I didn’t seem to find much of an issue. The place is a little on the small side, there isn’t as much range as say in the Camberley branch - but that’s to be expected surely in a smaller branch. The drinks we ordered were made in good time, and overall the food we had was good! Staff pleasant. There were a couple of dirty tables, but I’ve seen equally as bad in other branches and cafes. No doubt I’d return.

What's going on m&s? This place is disgusting. We go to m&s a lot but this cafe (if that's what u call it) is awful. The staff are useless, the food on display, well, if there is any on display it doesn't look appealing and the tables are full of dirty plates, trays, glasses etc. No one seems to be able to clear a table, communication between staff is non existent and the place is an embarrassment. M&S, sort it out. Shut this place as you're doing yourself no favours by putting your name to food and customer service. Will we return to this one? Absolutely no way, we'll go to Camberley.

first time ive been there ...okay for tea and cake i guess but not much choice on menu to be fair..had fish chips peas ..peas served in smallest dish ive ever seen and restaurant is more like a works canteen.defo not first choice for the cost

I thought I would try M&S café again today having not been since its refurb some time ago, but why did I bother? I, like so many people, only have an hour for lunch and with ONLY two people working behind the cafe bar, it took 20 minutes!!! The plates another customer and myself picked up were dirty. I was so disappointed and i lost 20 minutes of a catch up with a friend. Come on M&S Basingstoke sort it....

I decided to try M&S cafe today, why did I bothered, the place is unwelcoming, the staff hardly interact with customers, the cutlery are not clean, the fish finger sandwich ordered without mayo from the counter specially made fresh, had mayo, results unwell for 2 hoursat à cost of £5.50 thanks M& S Their toilets are dirty and I do not want to imagine the state of their kitchen !!!! Will avoid It until the place is cleaned, staff trained on health and safety.

Hadnt really changed much since 6 months ago. Slow and lifeless. I chose a new item on the lunchtime menu. Curry with chicken and spinach. More like goujons with a dash of sauce. Bust worst of all served in a cold bowl! Whats the point? Needs someone to overlook the whole operation.

At £4 for half a small bowl of soup and two miniature bread rolls the M&S cafe does not compare well to Sainsbury's cafe or Greggs. The jacket potato with cheese was only slightly better. Service was slow and many of the items on the menu were unavailable (despite them selling food in the basement). I won't be returning to have lunch there.

We were lucky to find a table the place was very busy due to it being lunch time I guess. The food is good and just what you would expect from M&S but I think it is a little costly there are just as good cafe in town that have good food at a lower prices

Staff are very helpful and friends and the food is always good. Their let-down is the very slow service, even when there isn't a long queue.

I sometimes wonder why I continue to come to these cafes. It staggers me that an organisation like M&S; cannot manage to keep their cafes stocked adequately.

Marks and Spencer cafes have same menu so it is the staff and the surroundings that are different. At Basingstoke the staff were pleasant but not over efficient. Whilst I was being served a previous customer interrupted who had a query so I was kept waiting while this was actioned. The area is small and some customers were waiting for tables after they had purchased drinks and snacks. The cafe did not have a relaxed atmosphere which is what most peope want when buying teas or coffees

I love M+S food but this restaurant is such a disappointment. The food always seems to be the same poor selection. Tables are often not cleared and it feels a depressing place to have lunch. Fortunately Pret is now open opposite and if I'm too late to get a sandwich then I'll buy something from the shop. It's a shame M+S Basingstoke don't use this cafe to show case their wonderful food.
