Nice little tearoom. Foods ok but a little expensive for what you get. Friendly staff wait at ur table. It may be a little tricky getting in the tearoom for people with walking difficulties because of a ramp placed at the door for wheelchairs ( presumably). But a pleasant place to catch up with friends.

What a fantastic find. The food was all home cooked and was delicious. Some tea rooms can be a bit pretentious but that was not the case here. It was so homely and the staff were lovely. Loved all the little knickknacks around the place and the attention to detail. Also, it’s really good that you can book as you can’t with most tea rooms. We attended for the anniversary of our mums funeral and I think it made it extra special because she would have absolutely loved it there. Definitely recommend!!

We went to Marjories in Portchester. A mushroom omelette was excellent. A scone was greyish, and looked/ tasted like / consistency of - perhaps a suet dumpling. I had one mouthful and left the rest. A shame, because ambience and staff ok. We then walked down to the Castle, and had a really excellent scone at the church tea room there.

We stopped off today for some lunch. My husband had one of the daily specials - liver and mash, which he really enjoyed and even finished off the gravy with a spoon. I had a jacket potato with prawns and this also was very tasty. Everything had been put in place to be covid friendly and we felt very sorry for them when the news came through that Portsmouth had been put into Tier3.

I have always had a good experience at Marjorie's until my most recent visit, where I was left in utter disbelieve by the treatment I received: I could smell that there was an issue with the cheese on my jacket potato when it was set down in front of me, however, I took a mouthful, and sure enough, it was rancid. I sent it back, only to have, who I assume was the manager or chef, storm out from the kitchen area, demanding what the problem was. I explained the issue, only to be rudely told I was wrong and that it was my problem "because drinking mocha before eating cheese would make it taste funny". She then snapped at me whether I wanted something else, to which I told her I needed a couple of minutes to decide. I decided against having a replacement meal because of the way I'd been spoken to. Upon stating this, the same lady launched into a second round of abuse where I was again accused of being wrong because "they have consistently good ratings and satisfaction from their customers". The experience left me shaken and upset, so my friend and I settled up and left soon after. I'm aware that Marjorie's has good ratings, and I agree that my past experiences (where I haven't had any issues) have been excellent. However, the treatment I received this time round was completely unacceptable: staff need to learn the art of customer service, manners and courtesy instead of being rude, defensive and abusive when a customer has an issue with their food. Even though I'm fully expecting a defensive, untruthful comeback from Marjorie's in response to this review (as evidenced from other low rating reviews on here), I would rather forewarn potential customers, to avoid anyone else experiencing what I did.

I organised a baby shower for a friend to be held at Marjorie’s Tea Rooms and we had a lovely afternoon. Communication with Peter before the event took place was easy and Peter was always helpful whenever I had any queries. Everyone was delighted with the food and drink provided and with the crockery and how the tables were presented. The staff were tentative on the day and we had a lovely afternoon. Thank you!

When in Cosham last week on business, we decided to find a cafe for coffee and maybe a cake. As we walked down Wayte Street, we noticed Marjories Tearooms and decided we would return after we had done our shopping. We were delighted by the warm welcome we received and the ambience of the place. When we looked at the menu, we decided to have a full English breakfast. Had it been a little later, we would have had one of the specials on the board for lunch but it was only 11.15. I had the standard English Breakfast and my OH went for the vegetarian option. Whilst we waited for it to arrive, our coffee was served and we sat taking in the atmosphere and listening to the music being played, which was an Everly Brothers CD, who just happen to be my favourite. I started chatting to the owner, telling him that I had only recently been to a tribute to the Everlys at the Kings Theatre Portsmouth. When our breakfasts arrived, we were most impressed by the presentation, and how well cooked everything was- served on a hot plate too, which is always a bonus for me. We will definitely return to Marjories to try their lunch time menu as I am confident we will enjoy the experience.

Have used this tea shop a few times to meet with friends for a cuppa. Really disappointed today that one of my friends chose to eat a 'small' snack and was charged £9.95 for a cup of tea and chicken toasty. It was gluten free bread but only 2 small slices. My friend was very taken aback and went back to query the cost to be told that it was because the bread was gluten free and that electricity was extra to make the toasty. Oh dear ..... will have to go elsewhere now. This is too expensive for what it was ... always check the prices before you order because otherwise you may be in for a costly surprise.

I love coming here. I work at QA hospital and often come here for a cooked breakfast before my shift. Not only is the breakfast delicious and filling, it's also a peace and tranquil environment before the hussle, bussle and noisy atmosphere of the hospital (that's NOT a critism of that FABULOUS hospital by the way). The staff are friendly and helpful. There is older music playing to take you back in time so you feel you've gone into a different time zone, so you are far away from reality. You are not made to feel rushed in any way either. I'm so pleased this tea room has a good rating, they deserve it.

We visited this cafe on route to the QA hospital as it looked a pleasant and quiet place away from the high street. We ordered 'Home roasted' chicken and cranberry sandwiches. When they arrived the chicken was cut in regular sized cubes and was lukewarm. We asked if it was freshly cooked or had been heated. The manager came over and assured us he had roasted it that morning and the waitress had reheated it. Knowing the dangers of chicken that has not been reheated to 75 degrees C we asked if we could have the chicken cold. 'Fresh' sandwiches were brought but the cubed chicken was wet and soggy and had obviously just been defrosted. I do not believe the chicken had been roasted onsite as it too closely resembled the frozen cubed chicken bought from food wholesalers. As my three daughters work in food service I know a bit about this subject. We stashed the sandwiches in a bag, to be binned, paid and left. We won't be back.

I must remember never to go back to this place again. We’ve been before and had an enjoyable experience, but the last few times have been dreadful. We’ve walked in and sat at a vacant table, only to be shepherded back to the door rudely. Then the host then led us back to the same table. Very unnecessary. On our latest visit I ordered a Pina Colada. When it arrived I had a couple of sips and really didn’t like it. It was not creamy at all and just taste of really sweet syrup. I took it back, she offered to remake, but I didn’t another one. When my husband paid the bill they refused to remove my drink. I have never know such bad customer service over a £10 cocktail. They have lost a customer.

Second oldest pub in Portsmouth and it is the highlight of the place. Breakfast was good and plentiful. The room is small with wonky electricity and plumbing, but I guess one must expect that in a 300 year old building. The wifi works well. Staff are businesslike. I wouldnt stay here again, but I'm glad I had the experience.

Never been met by people in a small business so annoyed to receive custom, tutted and huffed as I entered the shop, yes it was 14:45 and the shop closed at 15:00 but that’s no excuse. I ordered 2 rolls, once the filling was in the roll I stated which salad I would like in each and was told there was no salad left?? No discount offered and to make matters worse when opening the rolls outside the shop the fillings were incorrect. Another customer entered the shop behind me the staff members both rolled their eyes and gave him a dirty look, if you don’t want to be selling products until you close maybe worth advising a cut off time for rolls and food to be made. The filling in the rolls was a good portion and tasted good but wasn’t what I ordered. I won’t be returning
