Little Farthingloe Farm Restaurant in Dover

Usually very good but today our roast dinners were cold, my tea had the string and paper label in the water and when asking for a very small version of a desert got charged full price. Wasn’t a good experience today will give it a while before returning

Yet another splendid breakfast at this super friendly farm cafe. We had a good selection of food which was all served piping hot and oh so tasty. No pictures as we were hungry and just had to eat. Prices are very reasonable for good food. We have had lunch in the past and that was equally good. Thank you.

Visited 24/3/2024 very attentive staff and a lovely relaxed atmosphere the food is of higher quality than some places especially the bread, bacon and sausages we have been their many times and it's always consistent, highly recommended

The full works can go all the way with double of everything!! I went for the Farthingloe 8 - which was just great! (Thank goodness my greedy eyes didn’t win! Haha). Lovely coffee too. Great crowd.

Dined here for breakfast Saturday morning. Decent full English. Of course you can get better especially in London if you pay a lot more but having said that it was tasty and decent value. Of particular note was the quality of the sausages and bacon and that the bread/toast was of high quality and not cheap cut bread. Plate could have been a bit better presented but maybe for the price I’m being a bit too fussy. Friendly service so all in all recommend.

Staff are always so welcoming and inviting. The breakfasts in particular are enjoyable and full of flavour. Well worth a visit, oh and definitely book a table during the holidays.

Party of 14, prebooked, but still had to wait an hour for first course. Then another hour for desserts. Even half an hour for second round of drinks to arrive. It was all cooked well and plenty of it, just very slow. Other tables were arriving, served and left before our main course was all out. We have been plenty of times before for breakfast, always good, but won’t be coming again for main meal.

Have visited twice in the last month to try the Afternoon Tea, served 2pm-4pm. Unfortunately on both occasions (when arriving at 2 on the dot) they were already sold out of scones and were not doing the afternoon tea. Had to order other items each time which, while extremely tasty as usual, was unfortunately not why we came. Hopefully they'll start to make/stock more scones in the future. Shame

Came for breakfast on Sunday with my boyfriend Think I might still be salivating over the thought of it now! lol I had a veggie option - those little potatoes were amazing BF has the Farthingloe 6 Both were humongous plates of food and such good value - with a mug of coffee each and toast - around £10 a head The farm shop was lovely, shame we didn't buy anything - the selection of vegetables looked brilliant for a roast dinner Definitely will be returning

This was our first visit and were very impressed , the food is excellent and very reasonably priced, we will be back, can not understand reading some of the negative reports, only pleased they are not coming back, more room for us !!!!

Came here for breakfast with my 3 year old. Amazing quality food and great service, and really reasonably priced. Always forget about coming here but will definitely make it a more regular thing!

I come here very regularly, either on my own, with friends or family! And have had a pleasant experience every time. Yesterday was no different. Friendly, attentive staff, even with the business of the day. Both breakfasts came out how we asked, tasting delicious. And we even treated ourselves to a brownie sundae after - which we highly recommended! Fabulous :D

So sorry we bothered have heard such good things about the place we decided to go well a very long wait for food but you were busy coffee tasteless I ordered the chicken leek and bacon pie it was microwaved!! Yes may have been originally made on the premises but that along with the frozen veg also microwaved and gravy that was swimming all over it was instant too with lumps from poor mixing. Yes you refunded the price of that meal but not the point at that price I expected better The breakfast had by other members was not outstanding either plus bread and butter and toast for 2 separate peoples meals on the same plate which seemed a daft idea

Love this place, but today was awful… My husband took me & my friend as a treat for my birthday. Well my birthday was ruined. Slow service from the start, then the extra roasties & gravy we ordered came out way before our dinner. My friends pie was cold, The roasties were I’m sure from last week. My husbands beef…. Well…. It was like old leather. Our veg was cold. Then to top it off, while waiting at the till to pay for a very long time while 3 of the staff seemed to be doing nothing. Was then ignored & someone else got seen to in front of us. This place could be amazing. Staff need training & the cook needs sacking Never again will I go here

Nice place to visit for local farm breakfast or lunch with friends and family. Excellent food with fair prices. Plenty of parking and open spaces. Best place to go if one wants to avoid road side cafe and restaurants.

The breakfasts here are marvellous, you can choose what you want, e.g bacon, sausage, hash browns etc. I recommend this restaurant to anyone who likes home cooked food.

What a find in Dover. Had a lovely Sunday roast the lamb was cooked to perfection. Great portion size with a variety of vegetables.If you still have room the puddings are fabulous too.

Really nice, welcoming atmosphere, delicious food. Fairly priced and provides good sight for the mountains around. Pretty close to the town centre. Clean and tidy. Disabled people welcome, toilets kept clean.

We had a family get together for my birthday. There was 10 of us and all the food came out at the same time,no easy feat. Apart from one small problem that was soon rectified everyone enjoyed their meal. The staff are really nice and we never felt that they wanted us to leave. All the family agreed that they will certainly be visiting again.A must is a visit to the donkey and the Land army museum, unfortunately the shop wasn't open this time, but will revisit .

Visited today with family, was greeted very friendly member of staff. The food was very very nice, and generous sizes. Staff are always lovely and helpful, and prices are reasonable. Would definitely recommend.

I was talked into going here by my good lady. Pleasantly surprised. Both had the ploughman's, very flavoursome and the rustic bread was very nice too. Loved the onion chutney had to go and buy some from the shop

Regular visitor to this interesting restaurant but first time tried the Sunday menu. Both had chicken roast with trimmings but disappointed with the meat quality. The chicken was tasteless and presented differently to normal roast pieces coming in as small round pieces not recognised as being part of a chicken....maybe it was processed meat. Their normal dessert of Gypsy Tart was disappointing this time and the pastry case was like tasteless thin cardboard needed knife to cut it...gave up on the pastry but the fill was still very good. Staff were their usual brilliant selves and service times were really good for a well attended restaurant. The toilets(gents)are in need of urgent attention, floor water leak in cubicle, no toilet roll holders, no jacket holders, toilet rolls used up and no paper towels left....electric dryer not working. Will still use for pop in coffees and snacks but not lunch...... the Toby still provide better value and quality.

We found this place on line and thought we have breakfast on our way to Dover. This is certainly a very popular place on a Sunday morning and I expect every other day as well. They serve a huge range of breakfast and light lunch dishes. Staff lovely but very busy and people almost queuing to get in. Its situated in a Barn and there are a few animals people can go and see and a little room which is a museum to the Land Army. My only complaint is there wasnt anything for vegans apart from toast and marmalade,such as vegan spread, vegan sausages but apart from that it was lovely.

I have visited here a few times for breakfast and whilst the food isn’t the best, it’s by no means the worst. The main issue is the cleanliness or lack of! The menus and condiments are dirty and sticky and the tablecloths need replaced. The cafe has a general air of grubbiness which needs to be addressed.

I used to shop at Gibson’s farm shop but heard that Little Farthingloe Farm shop had a new butcher. I am so glad I visited as the quality has been amazing. Very friendly service and am now going to make this my local butcher. Darcy is extremely knowledgable, polite and helpful. Well done Farthingloe. I have recommended to all my friends

Having been brought up in the Dover area, I have driven past this place so many times and never visited. That changed last week when I brought my elderly father for a birthday treat based on the reviews on TripAdvisor. I can only say, I wish I'd visited sooner! The menu choices were varied and our food was excellent. Our only bugbear was the late arrival of a side dish we ordered but this did not detract from our enjoyment of the food.

Have been coming here for many years, when up till now the food has been sometimes good sometimes not so. But now the chef is a guy called Graham, and on each visit, I come with friends every 2 months, it gets better and better. The chicken and bacon pie I had was full of succulent chunks of chicken and the bacon was not just an afterthought, but was very present, and especially his carrot and swede mash was excellent. Last time I eat here he very kindly me the recipe for that, as all my life, I have hated swede, in any form, but thanks to him I now have it at home regularly. But where Graham really excels is his puddings, not desserts, but real puds with an inventive twist to some of them. I had a peanut and honeycomb tart, absolutely scrummy ! I don't really have sweet tooth, but this was so good. It,s not just the food that draws me to Farthingloe, the waitresses are re so friendly and helpful and make the whole experience of eating there worth the trip over from Walmer.

Visited today for the first time having heard good things about the breakfast.

Called in there with friends and sat for two hours chatting and eating delicious sandwiches.The staff were lovely, friendly and my Ham sandwich with the fresh side garnish was delicious.Ham cut thick and so much flavour husbands' beef sandwich was apparently also delicious very pleasant place.

Went for breakfast, and enjoyed it! Bacon and sausage with great taste, egg, tomato and mushrooms all very well cooked. My wife had a poached egg, and my daughter eggs Benedict - all just right.

Had breakfast here with my partner and wow it really was delicious! Best one I've had in a long time and such a nice location. Service was great also. The harsh browns were the best I've had and so nice to have a decent bit of bread and butter and toast.

Big portions, traditional dishes, reasonable prices and good service. There is a farm shop to visit and possible to walk off your meal on a country walk.

We needed a venue for an early family meal to fit in with England v Panama and celebrate a birthday.

Had scampi and chips from the Light bite menu costing £8.50.The chips were bog standard frozen chips, half unedible, very disapointing. Wanted the roast lamb but was not going to pay £15 for it !!

On a visit to family we visited this gem of a place. It’s located on the B2011 just outside Dover and the signage can be difficult to see until you are on the turning.

Had the Farthingloe 6 Breakfast, service was prompt and breakfast good. We shall most certainly return.

Went here with my husband and son this afternoon and had a lovely lunch. I had a cottage pie from the specials board with all the veggies and gravy whilst my family ordered from the normal menu.

Had a lovely lunch on Mothers day the food was delicious as usual. The lamb was as tender as anything which simply fell apart on the plate. The roast potatoes were crispy and soft and the vegetables were fresh and tasty. I made a change and decided to try the new CHOCOLATE BAILEYS CHEESECAKE for my desert. The best decision i have ever made. The rich sweet creamy tart had beautiful soft cheese and a tasty biscuit bass with hints of baileys chocolate. Absolutely blew my mind away how tasty this was. I will 100% be returning in search for this magnificent homemade desert.

i Have been here many times, this Restaurant is one of the best places i have been in the Folkestone and Dover area. It is run by a wonderful group of smiling happy staff which in this day and age makes a change , you get the impression that they are really glad to see you! the food is absolutely fantastic , wonderful fresh cook homemade food which is a gastronomic delight . So next time you are in Dover you must go to this wonderful Restaurant

My wife and I like to go here occasionally, they do great homemade dishes but the cakes are the best.

Farthingloe is the best place in Dover or Folkestone for a breakfast, been coming here since I was a little girl and honestly I don’t think any other breakfast comes close!!

Went with the family for a nice breakfast , and happerly choose the right place. After a short wait the breakfast came out .

I love this place! The food is always amazing, hearty, good quality food! The staff are normally lovely too. The breakfast here is the best with fresh home made bread and local produce used! Theres a little farm shop there as well where you can pick up some lovely locally sourced fruit and veg. Theres also an onsite bakery which does the best cornish pasties i have ever tried! The homemade cakes in the cafe are amazing too! I cannot recommend this place enough!!!

Easily missed, this place is a little gem, lovely restaurant, and beautiful buildings.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Choice of several roast meats or have them all for a little extra. Very good portions are served. Staff are lovely and attentive. The only downside was that the meals were not hot although served on hot plates. The very nice lady took them back and warmed them up for us.

Came for Sunday breakfast. Nice food but absolutely freezing cold. Had to keep thick overcoat on. Ordered extra drinks which didn't come and just as getting up to pay waitress noticed our extra drinks had been forgotten. So had the extra drink whilst freezing cold having now eaten our breakfast.

Heard about this place from friends, and in the area gave it a try on their recommendation.

My husband I popped in for lunch on a Saturday. There were plenty of choices to be had though it was 2.30pm +Our chosen meals were served quickly , and were wonderfully plentiful and hot.. We shared a lovely crumble and custard pudding as we were both full up.

Oh wow....what a brilliant breakfast we all had, didnt need to eat for the rest of the day. Only disappointment was we did not have room for the lovely looking cakes on the counter.....we will be back.

We often call in for a coffee and cake and have taken friends and family there for lunch. We have always enjoyed the traditional, nostalgic and delicious food, including their wonderful homemade cakes and pies which can also be bought from the on site farm shop. The staff are friendly and efficient and it is always a treat to eat there, especially as the menu is extremely affordable.

i rang and booked a table for sunday lunch on arrival was told that no table had been reserved for us but they would let us have next available table - we were then told to have a drink and sit outside [in the cold] by one of the waitresses. Our table was then ready we had 3 adult meals and 2 childrens meals with drinks and thought that the bill was excessively high for what we had. We had been going there for years and was very disappointed at the service we received. We had to wait 20 minutes for them to clear our table prior to ordering our desserts. We questioned the bill but was told it was correct - we had 3 roasts dinners and 2 childrens meals - bill was in excess of £70. Will not be going there for a long time - must be better restaurants available in the area.

My wife and I have been for lunch several times when passing but never for Sunday lunch. On a previous visit I asked about Sunday lunch and was advised to book because it gets very busy. I thought that sounded promising. I therefore booked my table and my wife and I were looking forward to going. Readers of my reviews know that I am very honest in what I write and that is why I do not hide my identity. On this occasion I have to be brutally honest. The food was awful. I had the roast lamb which was tasteless. My wife had chicken. Normally chicken will either be a leg or sliced breast. The chicken produced for my wife was in small pieces. Looking at the menu board I noticed that they were advertising ‘chicken, leek and bacon pie’ and I can only assume that my wife’s chicken was the filling from the pie. The accompanying vegetables didn’t fare better either. I hate giving bad reviews and yes we will never go back.

Don't bother turning up on a Sunday, you won't get served.

This is our venue of choice for a cooked breakfast. They offer a good choice of options for those with small or larger appetites. The quality of ingredients used is top notch. It's usually pretty busy so there is a delay but it's always worth the wait (and there's free newspapers to read in the mean time). Service is pleasant and friendly. Also worth mentioning that the roast dinners are 5* too!

the food is lovely and lots of it. love their roasts on a sunday. and you cant leave without taking some gorgeous homemade cake. make sure you dont eat for a week if you are dieting so you can fill up when you go
