Everytime we've visited, we've always been very pleased. Great food, great atmosphere and great staff. The sunday roast is amazing! The landlady is the best!

I booked a table for my daughters 18th birthday dinner and it was brilliant! The food was great and they helped sorting out balloons and also gave us all we needed to cut the cake! Would definitely recommend.

Had a great evening listening to 'ozzie and the uglies' which was the reason for the visit. It has changed in there from my last visit, which was 30 years ago, but won't be another before I'm back.

We popped here by chance for dinner. upon entering It does seem like a locals pub and we did wonder whether to stay. We decided to give it a go and it didn't disappoint The Cajun chicken burger is one of the best I've tasted. My partner had the Cheese burger and he said it was very good. Very fast service, pleasant staff. The only issue is parking, if you can find a one hour Bay like we did and you're just going for food then this works fine, we ordered and ate our food quite comfortably with about 15 minutes left.

My wife and I we went on a Thursday evening for some food and time away from the kids 😀. It was a quite evening except for the regulars there. The food was very nice I had a chicken burger with Mac n cheese while my wife had four starters for £20 as a meal as they’re big portions which I ended up eating, the cheese melts are amazing but a lot of cheese.

Tried the new lunch menu (only Wednesdays and Thursdays) mushrooms in a creamy garlic sauce with a hint of paprika and freshly baked bread stick was deliciously different from usual garlic mushrooms. Cumberland sausages with mash and fresh peas were good but topped with onion gravy with real onion slices raised the level of flavour, followed by red velvet cheesecake with strawberry ice-cream and cream. Certainly walked the long way home. Excellent food, lovely service pleasant atmosphere. Thank you to the team . We will be back soon.

We have just got back from the Thompson Bell after have a very tasty roast lunch then coffee afterwards.The staff were very lovely and friendly. Would definitely recommend this place. Thank you to the staff.

What a lovely pub. I understand the owners are quite new. Well decorated light and airy. Really nice beer garden. Dog and child friendly. Menu has pretty much everything from Sunday roasts to burgers and sharing dishes. Some very good deals throughout the week e.g. 2 burgers and chips £20, 4 sharing dishes £20. We did the 4 for £20. Very nice. Reasonably priced drinks. Lovely staff, so helpful and friendly. I should guess as summer closes and the nights draw in this will be a cosy, warm place to grab a bite or a beer. I'll definitely be coming back when I visit this area again.

Great Pub… good food and drinks. Nice atmosphere, with the Pool table and darts. We (quite a large group) came here on a rainy day when we were camping nearby and they accommodated us wonderfully!

The food was cold and soggy and I couldn’t eat it. We had the fajitas and the beef was chewy and everything was cold. The sweet potato fries were soggy and over cooked. The squid tasted nice but was cold and soggy as well. When we opened the wraps to heat them up, what was inside was like one solid lump of meat and cheese with limp lettuce which really put me off. When you pay £30-40 for a meal you definitely expect better quality than this. Really disappointing.

Fajitas not as I would have expected - soggy wraps with a bit of lettuce and tomato (no peppers, onions, guacamole, sour cream or salsa). Fajita seasoning wasn’t nice either. Steak so overcooked was inedible and went in the bin. Drinks warm and shaken so exploded when opened. Bland calamari - would have expected a dip with it too. Salt and pepper chips covered in balsamic vinegar (or something) and bell peppers - a bit odd. No delivery bags. Tandoori bites are amazing though! Waste of over £50

It took approximately 1,5 hours before we received our order. The food was inedible. The waitress was friendly but the manager did not seem to realize the seriousness of the matter.

Had a top quality roast dinner today. Service was fantastic and the beef and the gravy I've not tasted better. Deffo worth a visit for anyone

Absolutely disappointed in this place the poor staff get treated like absolute dirt by there so called manager calling her staff out in front of members of the public regarding personal matters that should be kept private. Thought things couldn't get any worse I made a joke about all the bar staff being very young to then be told that the person serving me was only 16 thought this was illegal!! Tried to talk to the manager she didn't treat me with respect as a customer she seemed extremely rude and Abnoxious and didn't have the time of day for my complaint. Will avoid in future at all costs will advice everyone else not to bother. Very unsatisfied customers

I absolutely love this pub, not only are the staff very helpful and polite, but the food is also amazing 🤤 I would also just like to say a massive THANK YOU to Hayley and her team for doing the "kids eat for £1" this summer holidays. We are all struggling in this day and age, so it's very very helpful. Can't wait to visit again. Keep up the hard work guys. ❤️

Oh my goodness, the food was absolutely lovely. I will be ordering again in the future. One comment and it’s not a criticism, bring back the pork bites!! Oh and buy some delivery bags 😂

I came here with a group of friends and all of us were beyond impressed with not only the service but the short wait time and quality of the food. The portions were spot on and the service was perfect. And to just make the experience that much better the land lady hayley was lovely and made sure everyone's needs were fulfilled and made everyone feel welcome.

The service was simply incredible. The food came out fast and was amazing. The service was impeckable. All memebers of staff were so helpfull even helping with any aditional needs. The pub is imaculate and combined this with the the land lady who makes everyone feel welcome, really makes for a truely amazing experience.

we visited this place and we were welcomed very friendly. Sadly the food was a complete fail. Overcooked (partly dark black burned) food was served and made it impossible to enjoy. Most of the stuff came from the freezer and was not frechly made. Good place to have drinks (nice outside area as well) but not for food. Most of the recommendations here are very good and i can say the pictures look completely different to the food that was served to us.

Stunning roast and such good value for £10 (think this is just a Jan/Feb deal). Cauliflower cheese was HEAVENLY!! The really friendly staff/feel of the place brought us back to try the roast! Really recommend and will defo be back to try the normal menu 😍

Absolutely disgusting dry roll which i couldn't eat a cheep savaloy sausage which was dreadful and salty, the mushrooms would not fil half of a small yoghurt pot about 4 to 5 sliced up mushrooms. Not recommended I would never eat from here again. I have been totally ripped off considering how much I paid for the food. Avoid at all cost's

Amazed!! The food travelled so well. Burger arrived and it was perfect, really meaty. And the bacon was good too. What was a surprise, was the ham in the burger - brilliant!! Side chips, cheesy mixed chips. 9/10. Excellent!!

Only 4 stars as tried ringing 6 times over 2 days before I could finally get through. Also no baby changing facilities (not even a drop down table). The hot drinks machine was broken and they couldn't even offer us tea (no boiling water?) However the staff made up for this by being super kind, helpful and cheerful. Food was large portion and delicious.

Staff were lovely but the food was not. We were welcomed by a lovely lady and the waitress was nice and helpful too. We ordered roasts which were cheaper than average. I had a nut roast I liked but the veg weren't roasted and there was no seasoning on them. Portions were smaller than regular (we eat out a lot!). The desserts were soggy and also tasted like from the supermarket rather than made fresh on premises.

Unfortunately, there was very little blue cheese in my blue cheese burger it was also pretty greasy. Chips were lovely; crispy and dusted in some herbs

Gave it a shot after reading the first few reviews… All I can say is I’ve found our local burger takeout!! My husband had the bacon & cheeseburger with loaded fries, I had the Cajun chicken burger with normal fries. We each tried each others as they looked so tasty! Cajun was tasty with (medium)spice and loads of flavour, the beef was perfectly cooked! Even the chips were slightly seasoned, nice touch! Well done to the chef as it’s so rare to get a burger at home like you’d get in a restaurant…… no processed meat with lush presentation and full of flavour. I’d highly recommend 😊

Ordered on their first night of being on Just Eat so expected delays/hiccups but absolutely the opposite. The food was delivered on time and piping hot. Packaged well. Great portions. Amazing tasting food! The burgers were perfectly cooked with a beautiful chargrill like flavour and sticky pork bites were incredible. 100% recommend. Can’t wait to order again!

Great quality and value! We visited on a Saturday night and the service was excellent. The menu had something for everyone and the pick and mix (5 dishes) option was a winner. Portion size and quality surpassed my expectations. The beer on draught is good and you won't have a dirty pipes hangover in the morning. The pub has been renovated over the last 3 years and is very nice environment. After dinner we played pool and darts. What more could you want. We will take the family next time.

We had Sunday roast at The Thompsons Bell today and it was delicious. The pub looks amazing after the renovation, staff are very attentive and food was exceptional. Would recommend!

On family holiday and saw this pub local to where we are staying so we thought we would give it a go after looking at the reviews. I would highly recommend this pub lovely atmosphere, friendly staff and Absolutely delicious food.

Lived in Deal/Walmer most of my life and Hubby and I popped her to eat last week. Lovely lovely lovely. Thanks Hayley for making us so welcome. And for asking our names we will be back soon.

This place has had its ups and downs, unfortunately we hit it on a down. The lady behind the bar was lovely, friendly, helpful and efficient, but the food let it down badly. We ordered 4 small plates, the kitchen hadn't informed the front of house that they had run out of items, instead they replaced humous with salad dressing (?!), Sweet chilli dipping sauce with mango chutney, and the beetroot humus with feta and avocado, was just avocado,. The kitchen offered no explanation or apology, it was left to the bar lady to find out what was going on for us. The annoying thing was that the chef could have walked 30seconds down the road to Londis and bought all the missing items! Under the last manager the food was great, I believe it has recently changed management again, let's hope they sort the kitchen out. As It's our local we keep trying it, so hopefully it will improve. 🤞

Went for lunch the other day with a friend. Fantastic atmosphere and the staff couldn't have been more helpful. Walked in and instantly happy with Heineken on tap which you don't see in many places. Wonderful food. The badboy bangok burger is to die for. Will for sure be back

We are on a family holiday and were out looking for somewhere to eat... We popped in by chance and we are so glad we did....it was a lovely evening, the food was amazing and the lady who served us was very friendly..definitely recommended it

Excellent pub it provides food but we went for the music, very good and a drink very good range of drinks available.

Lovely decor and welcoming atmosphere. The food was phenomenal. The sirloin steak was cooked to perfection (medium-rare) with just the right amount of side orders. The chocolate brownie was warmed in the oven to get that crusty exterior and served with vanilla ice cream, just the way it should be! Hayley, the manager, was bubbly and friendly, yet professional. A great evening all round and highly recommended.

The Thompsons Bell is a friendly local pub, since having Hayley as the new manager the pub has made a great turnaround, more lively with some live music on occasion. The food is nice always well presented and tastey and I particularly enjoy the nut roast served on a Sunday. All the staff are attentive and work very hard It has a great atmosphere, lovely garden and is also dog friendly

Found the pub looking for a nice lunch somewhere that’s dog friendly. It has a lovely pub feel with good pub menu items, all done in slightly different way giving the food a really restaurant feel. We had a burger and the fish special of the day which were both fantastic!

More of a rest than a pub. The food was very good, they also had a clear menu stating gluten-free food.

A group of Ten went there 17th October, on arrival we were informed the Chef wasn't there today, and it was obvious!!, the Standard of the Roast Dinner was Poor, the Lamb and Beef and Roast Potatoes was Dissapointing, except 1 had the Pork and was Satisfied. The Waitresses were Polite Helpful Very Good. Under the circumstances there was no Chef, I will go back when the Chef is in the Building...

Fantastic place to eat, the food was excellent and the staff very friendly and welcoming will definitely be back soon, very good prices as well. One small thing was no baby changing table for my grandson, but won't stop us going back.

First visit. Booked a table for four at short notice. Staff very welcoming, drinks fairly priced. 5 sharing plates as a starter, two sea bass and two steaks, two desserts and two bottles of wine came to just over £100. Food was really good, tasty and nicely paced in terms of service. Atmosphere relaxed and thoroughly enjoyed the evening Can't rate it highly enough, 👍👍👍

Went for an evening meal with my sister on Friday. The food was excellent and the Thompson Bell deserves to be much busier than it currently is. The waiting staff are very young and clearly inexperienced and there is no doubt that the service could be improved, but our meal was obviously freshly cooked, well prepared and presented and it tasted good! We will definitely go again.

Booked for sunday lunch for 2 live locally ..had heard mixed reviews ..sadly I cannot comment on the food only the service ..got there at 1.50 nice smiling girl at bar have you booked yes I have name and phone number ..hmmmm gazing down at the booking list could have been the team sheet for a 5 aside team when a couple never turned up..sorry your not on ze list .just starring inanely at us ok fair enough well leave ok goodbye the reply still smirking...so as a few people have informed me mixed reviews ..stick to a really carvery trained to help out ...day ruined Thank you Thompson bell

Myself and four friends had lunch and could not fault it.

The bar staff were lovely. Chloe was so so helpful and looked after our party of 10 so well. We asked the chef to change olives for avocado as there was no vegan kids option. The waitress was a bit scared to ask and said the chef probably wouldn't do it. Only when someone in our party said we'll all eat elsewhere did the chef agree to cut an avo for the child! It made the family with us feel really awkward and the waitress had to relay it all which felt so unfair. We won't go back. Diversity has to be embraced and people should not be made to feel different like that.
